1Mientras Pedro y Juan le hablaban al pueblo, se les presentaron los sacerdotes, el capitán de la guardia del templo y los saduceos.
2Estaban muy molestos porque los apóstoles enseñaban al pueblo y proclamaban la resurrección de los muertos en la persona de Jesús.
3Los arrestaron y, como ya era de noche, los metieron en la cárcel hasta el día siguiente.
4Pero muchos de los que oyeron el mensaje creyeron, y el número de los hombres llegó a ser de unos cinco mil.
5Al día siguiente, se reunieron en Jerusalén los gobernantes, los ancianos y los maestros de la ley.
6Allí estaban el sumo sacerdote Anás, Caifás, Juan, Alejandro y todos los otros miembros de la familia del sumo sacerdote.
7Hicieron que Pedro y Juan se presentaran en medio de ellos y comenzaron a interrogarlos: “¿Con qué poder o en nombre de quién hicieron ustedes esto?”
8Entonces Pedro, lleno del Espíritu Santo, les respondió: “Gobernantes del pueblo y ancianos de Israel:
9Si hoy se nos pide cuentas por el bien hecho a un enfermo, y se nos pregunta cómo fue sanado,
10sepan ustedes y todo el pueblo de Israel que este hombre está aquí, sano delante de ustedes, gracias al nombre de Jesucristo de Nazaret, a quien ustedes crucificaron, pero a quien Dios resucitó de entre los muertos.
11Este Jesús es ‘la piedra que desecharon ustedes los constructores, y que ha llegado a ser la piedra principal’.
12De hecho, en ningún otro hay salvación, porque no hay bajo el cielo otro nombre dado a los hombres mediante el cual podamos ser salvos.”
13Al ver la valentía de Pedro y de Juan, y al darse cuenta de que eran hombres comunes y sin preparación, se quedaron asombrados y reconocieron que habían estado con Jesús.
14Además, como veían allí de pie con ellos al hombre que había sido sanado, no tenían nada que decir en contra.
15Así que les ordenaron que salieran del Consejo, y se pusieron a deliberar entre ellos.
16“¿Qué vamos a hacer con estos hombres?”, se preguntaban. “Es evidente para todos los que viven en Jerusalén que han realizado un milagro notable, y no podemos negarlo.
17Pero para que este asunto no corra más entre el pueblo, vamos a amenazarlos para que no vuelvan a hablar a nadie en ese nombre.”
18Los llamaron de nuevo y les ordenaron terminantemente que no hablaran ni enseñaran más en el nombre de Jesús.
19Pero Pedro y Juan les replicaron: “Juzguen ustedes mismos si es justo delante de Dios obedecerlos a ustedes antes que a Dios.
20Nosotros no podemos dejar de hablar de lo que hemos visto y oído.”
21Después de nuevas amenazas, los soltaron. No encontraron la manera de castigarlos, porque todo el pueblo alababa a Dios por lo que había sucedido,
22ya que el hombre que había sido sanado milagrosamente tenía más de cuarenta años.
23Al quedar libres, volvieron a los suyos y les contaron todo lo que los jefes de los sacerdotes y los ancianos les habían dicho.
24Al oírlo, todos juntos alzaron la voz a Dios y dijeron: “Soberano Señor, tú creaste el cielo y la tierra, el mar y todo lo que hay en ellos.
25Tú dijiste por boca de tu siervo David: ‘¿Por qué se enfurecen las naciones y los pueblos hacen planes vanos?
26Los reyes de la tierra se rebelan y los gobernantes se alían contra el Señor y contra su Ungido’.
27“En efecto, en esta ciudad se aliaron Herodes y Poncio Pilato, con los gentiles y el pueblo de Israel, contra tu santo siervo Jesús, a quien tú ungiste.
28Se juntaron para hacer lo que tu poder y tu voluntad ya habían determinado que sucediera.
29Ahora, Señor, toma en cuenta sus amenazas y concede a tus siervos que anuncien tu mensaje con toda valentía.
30Extiende tu mano para sanar y realizar señales y prodigios en el nombre de tu santo siervo Jesús.”
31Después de orar, el lugar donde estaban reunidos tembló. Todos fueron llenos del Espíritu Santo y anunciaban la palabra de Dios con valentía.
32Todos los creyentes eran de un solo sentir y pensar. Nadie consideraba suya ninguna de sus posesiones, sino que compartían todo lo que tenían.
33Con gran poder los apóstoles daban testimonio de la resurrección del Señor Jesús, y Dios derramaba su abundante gracia sobre todos ellos.
34No había ningún necesitado entre ellos, porque los que poseían terrenos o casas los vendían, traían el dinero de lo vendido
35y lo ponían a disposición de los apóstoles. Luego se repartía a cada uno según su necesidad.
36José, un levita natural de Chipre, a quien los apóstoles llamaban Bernabé (que significa “Hijo de Consolación”),
37vendió un terreno que tenía y trajo el dinero para ponerlo a disposición de los apóstoles.

1Y HABLANDO ellos al pueblo, sobrevinieron los sacerdotes, y el magistrado del templo, y los Saduceos,
2Resentidos de que enseñasen al pueblo, y anunciasen en Jesús la resurrección de los muertos.
3Y les echaron mano, y los pusieron en la cárcel hasta el día siguiente; porque era ya tarde.
4Mas muchos de los que habían oído la palabra, creyeron; y fué el número de los varones como cinco mil.
5Y aconteció al día siguiente, que se juntaron en Jerusalem los príncipes de ellos, y los ancianos, y los escribas;
6Y Anás, príncipe de los sacerdotes, y Caifás, y Juan y Alejandro, y todos los que eran del linaje sacerdotal;
7Y haciéndolos presentar en medio, les preguntaron: ¿Con qué potestad, ó en qué nombre, habéis hecho vosotros esto?
8Entonces Pedro, lleno del Espíritu Santo, les dijo: Príncipes del pueblo, y ancianos de Israel:
9Pues que somos hoy demandados acerca del beneficio hecho á un hombre enfermo, de qué manera éste haya sido sanado,
10Sea notorio á todos vosotros, y á todo el pueblo de Israel, que en el nombre de Jesucristo de Nazaret, al que vosotros crucificasteis y Dios le resucitó de los muertos, por él este hombre está en vuestra presencia sano.
11Este es la piedra reprobada de vosotros los edificadores, la cual es puesta por cabeza del ángulo.
12Y en ningún otro hay salud; porque no hay otro nombre debajo del cielo, dado á los hombres, en que podamos ser salvos.
13Entonces viendo la constancia de Pedro y de Juan, sabido que eran hombres sin letras é ignorantes, se maravillaban; y les conocían que habían estado con Jesús.
14Y viendo al hombre que había sido sanado, que estaba con ellos, no podían decir nada en contra.
15Mas les mandaron que se saliesen fuera del concilio; y conferían entre sí,
16Diciendo: ¿Qué hemos de hacer á estos hombres? porque de cierto, señal manifiesta ha sido hecha por ellos, notoria á todos los que moran en Jerusalem, y no lo podemos negar.
17Todavía, porque no se divulgue más por el pueblo, amenacémoslos que no hablen de aquí adelante á hombre alguno en este nombre.
18Y llamándolos, les intimaron que en ninguna manera hablasen ni enseñasen en el nombre de Jesús.
19Entonces Pedro y Juan, respondiendo, les dijeron: Juzgad si es justo delante de Dios obedecer antes á vosotros que á Dios:
20Porque no podemos dejar de decir lo que hemos visto y oído.
21Ellos entonces los despacharon amenazándolos, no hallando ningún modo de castigarlos, por causa del pueblo; porque todos glorificaban á Dios de lo que había sido hecho.
22Porque el hombre en quien había sido hecho este milagro de sanidad, era de más de cuarenta años.
23Y sueltos, vinieron á los suyos, y contaron todo lo que los príncipes de los sacerdotes y los ancianos les habían dicho.
24Y ellos, habiéndolo oído, alzaron unánimes la voz á Dios, y dijeron: Señor, tú eres el Dios que hiciste el cielo y la tierra, la mar, y todo lo que en ellos hay;
25Que por boca de David, tu siervo, dijiste: ¿Por qué han bramado las gentes, y los pueblos han pensado cosas vanas?
26Asistieron los reyes de la tierra, y los príncipes se juntaron en uno contra el Señor, y contra su Cristo.
27Porque verdaderamente se juntaron en esta ciudad contra tu santo Hijo Jesús, al cual ungiste, Herodes y Poncio Pilato, con los Gentiles y los pueblos de Israel,
28Para hacer lo que tu mano y tu consejo habían antes determinado que había de ser hecho.
29Y ahora, Señor, mira sus amenazas, y da á tus siervos que con toda confianza hablen tu palabra;
30Que extiendas tu mano á que sanidades, y milagros, y prodigios sean hechos por el nombre de tu santo Hijo Jesús.
31Y como hubieron orado, el lugar en que estaban congregados tembló; y todos fueron llenos del Espíritu Santo, y hablaron la palabra de Dios con confianza.
32Y la multitud de los que habían creído era de un corazón y un alma: y ninguno decía ser suyo algo de lo que poseía; mas todas las cosas les eran comunes.
33Y los apóstoles daban testimonio de la resurrección del Señor Jesús con gran esfuerzo; y gran gracia era en todos ellos.
34Que ningún necesitado había entre ellos: porque todos los que poseían heredades ó casas, vendiéndolas, traían el precio de lo vendido,
35Y lo ponían á los pies de los apóstoles; y era repartido á cada uno según que había menester.
36Entonces José, que fué llamado de los apóstoles por sobrenombre, Bernabé, (que es interpretado, Hijo de consolación) Levita, natural de Cipro,
37Como tuviese una heredad, la vendió, y trajo el precio, y púsolo á los pies de los apóstoles.

1And as they spake unto the people, the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them,
2Being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead.
3And they laid hands on them, and put them in hold unto the next day: for it was now eventide.
4Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand.
5And it came to pass on the morrow, that their rulers, and elders, and scribes,
6And Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem.
7And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this?
8Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,
9If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole;
10Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
11This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
12Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
13Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.
14And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.
15But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,
16Saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and we can not deny it.
17But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name.
18And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.
19But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.
20For we can not but speak the things which we have seen and heard.
21So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified God for that which was done.
22For the man was above forty years old, on whom this miracle of healing was shewed.
23And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them.
24And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:
25Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things?
26The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ.
27For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,
28For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.
29And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,
30By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.
31And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.
32And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.
33And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.
34Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,
35And laid them down at the apostles’ feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.
36And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus,
37Having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.

1As they spoke to the people, the priests and the captain of the temple and the Sadducees came to them,
2being upset because they taught the people and proclaimed in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.
3They laid hands on them, and put them in custody until the next day, for it was now evening.
4But many of those who heard the word believed, and the number of the men came to be about five thousand.
5In the morning, their rulers, elders, and scribes were gathered together in Jerusalem.
6Annas the high priest was there, with Caiaphas, John, Alexander, and as many as were relatives of the high priest.
7When they had stood Peter and John in the middle of them, they inquired, “By what power, or in what name, have you done this?”
8Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “You rulers of the people and elders of Israel,
9if we are examined today concerning a good deed done to a crippled man, by what means this man has been healed,
10may it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, this man stands here before you whole in him.
11He is ‘the stone which was regarded as worthless by you, the builders, which has become the head of the corner.’
12There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!”
13Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and had perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled. They recognized that they had been with Jesus.
14Seeing the man who was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.
15But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,
16saying, “What shall we do to these men? Because indeed a notable miracle has been done through them, as can be plainly seen by all who dwell in Jerusalem, and we can’t deny it.
17But so that this spreads no further among the people, let’s threaten them, that from now on they don’t speak to anyone in this name.”
18They called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.
19But Peter and John answered them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, judge for yourselves,
20for we can’t help telling the things which we saw and heard.”
21When they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding no way to punish them, because of the people; for everyone glorified God for that which was done.
22For the man on whom this miracle of healing was performed was more than forty years old.
23Being let go, they came to their own company and reported all that the chief priests and the elders had said to them.
24When they heard it, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord and said, “O Lord, you are God, who made the sky, the earth, the sea, and all that is in them;
25who by the mouth of your servant David, said, ‘Why do the nations rage, and the peoples plot a vain thing?
26The kings of the earth take a stand, and the rulers plot together, against the Lord, and against his Christ.’
27“For truly, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed,
28to do whatever your hand and your counsel foreordained to happen.
29Now, Lord, look at their threats, and grant to your servants to speak your word with all boldness,
30while you stretch out your hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of your holy Servant Jesus.”
31When they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were gathered together. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.
32The multitude of those who believed were of one heart and soul. Not one of them claimed that anything of the things which he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common.
33With great power, the apostles gave their testimony of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. Great grace was on them all.
34For neither was there among them any who lacked, for as many as were owners of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold,
35and laid them at the apostles’ feet; and distribution was made to each, according as anyone had need.
36Joses, who by the apostles was also called Barnabas (which is, being interpreted, Son of Encouragement), a Levite, a man of Cyprus by race,
37having a field, sold it and brought the money and laid it at the apostles’ feet.
