Por aquellos días, creciendo el número de los discípulos, se suscitó una queja de los judíos griegos contra los judíos hebreos, o nacidos en el país, porque no se hacía caso de sus viudas en el servicio o distribución del sustento diario.

EN aquellos días, creciendo el número de los discípulos, hubo murmuración de los Griegos contra los Hebreos, de que sus viudas eran menospreciadas en el ministerio cotidiano.

And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.

En atención a esto, los doce apóstoles, convocando a todos los discípulos, les dijeron: No es justo que nosotros descuidemos la predicación de la palabra de Dios, por tener cuidado de las mesas:

Así que, los doce convocaron la multitud de los discípulos, y dijeron: No es justo que nosotros dejemos la palabra de Dios, y sirvamos á las mesas.

Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.

por tanto, hermanos, nombrad de entre vosotros siete sujetos de buena fama, llenos del Espíritu Santo y de inteligencia, a los cuales encarguemos este ministerio.

Buscad pues, hermanos, siete varones de vosotros de buen testimonio, llenos de Espíritu Santo y de sabiduría, los cuales pongamos en esta obra.

Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

Y con esto podremos nosotros emplearnos enteramente en la oración y en la predicación de la palabra divina.

But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

Pareció bien esta propuesta a toda la asamblea; y así nombraron a Esteban, varón lleno de fe y del Espíritu Santo, y a Felipe y a Prócoro, a Nicanor y a Timón, a Pármenas y a Nicolás prosélito antioqueno.

Y plugo el parecer á toda la multitud; y eligieron á Esteban, varón lleno de fe y de Espíritu Santo, y á Felipe, y á Prócoro, y á Nicanor, y á Timón, y á Parmenas, y á Nicolás, prosélito de Antioquía:

And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:

Lo presentaron a los apóstoles, los cuales, haciendo oración, les impusieron las manos, o consagraron.

A estos presentaron delante de los apóstoles, los cuales orando les pusieron las manos encima.

Mas Esteban, lleno de gracia y de fortaleza, obraba grandes prodigios y milagros entre el pueblo.

Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen.

But some of those who were of the synagogue called “The Libertines”, and of the Cyrenians, of the Alexandrians, and of those of Cilicia and Asia arose, disputing with Stephen.

pero no podían contrarrestar a la sabiduría y al Espíritu que hablaba en él.

And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.

Entonces sobornaron a algunos que dijesen haberlo oído proferir blasfemias contra Moisés y contra Dios.

Con eso alborotaron a la plebe y a los ancianos, y a los escribas, y echándose sobre él, le arrebataron y trajeron al concilio,

Y conmovieron al pueblo, y á los ancianos, y á los escribas; y arremetiendo le arrebataron, y le trajeron al concilio.

And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council,

y produjeron testigos falsos que afirmasen: Este hombre no cesa de proferir palabras contra este lugar santo y contra la ley;

And set up false witnesses, which said, This man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law:

pues nosotros le hemos oído decir que aquel Jesús Nazareno ha de destruir este lugar y cambiar las tradiciones u observancias que nos dejó ordenadas Moisés.

Porque le hemos oído decir, que este Jesús de Nazaret destruirá este lugar, y mudará las ordenanzas que nos dió Moisés.

Entonces fijando en él los ojos todos los del concilio, vieron su rostro como el rostro de un ángel.

And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.
