Alors le souverain Sacrificateur lui dit : ces choses sont-elles ainsi ?

EL príncipe de los sacerdotes dijo entonces: ¿Es esto así?

Then said the high priest, Are these things so?

The high priest said, “Are these things so?”

Et Etienne répondit : hommes frères et pères, écoutez -moi : le Dieu de gloire apparut à notre père Abraham, du temps qu’il était en Mésopotamie, avant qu’il demeurât à Carran,

Y él dijo: Varones hermanos y padres, oid: El Dios de la gloria apareció á nuestro padre Abraham, estando en Mesopotamia, antes que morase en Chârán,

And he said, Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran,

He said, “Brothers and fathers, listen. The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he lived in Haran,

Et lui dit : sors de ton pays, et d’avec ta parent’, et viens au pays que je te montrerai.

Y le dijo: Sal de tu tierra y de tu parentela, y ven á la tierra que te mostraré.

And said unto him, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and come into the land which I shall shew thee.

and said to him, ‘Get out of your land and away from your relatives, and come into a land which I will show you.’

Il sortit donc du pays des Caldéens, et alla demeurer à Carran ; et de là, après que son père fut mort, Dieu le fit passer en ce pays où vous habitez maintenant.

Entonces salió de la tierra de los Caldeos, y habitó en Chârán: y de allí, muerto su padre, le traspasó á esta tierra, en la cual vosotros habitáis ahora;

Then came he out of the land of the Chaldæans, and dwelt in Charran: and from thence, when his father was dead, he removed him into this land, wherein ye now dwell.

Then he came out of the land of the Chaldaeans and lived in Haran. From there, when his father was dead, God moved him into this land where you are now living.

Et il ne lui donna aucun héritage en ce pays, non pas même d’un pied de terre, quoiqu’il lui eût promis de le lui donner en possession, et à sa postérité après lui, dans un temps où il n’avait point encore d’enfant.

Y no le dió herencia en ella, ni aun para asentar un pie: mas le prometió que se la daría en posesión, y á su simiente después de él, no teniendo hijo.

And he gave him none inheritance in it, no, not so much as to set his foot on: yet he promised that he would give it to him for a possession, and to his seed after him, when as yet he had no child.

Et Dieu lui parla ainsi : ta postérité séjournera quatre cents ans dans une terre étrangère, et là on l’asservira, et on la maltraitera.

Y hablóle Dios así: Que su simiente sería extranjera en tierra ajena, y que los reducirían á servidumbre y maltratarían, por cuatrocientos años.

And God spake on this wise, That his seed should sojourn in a strange land; and that they should bring them into bondage, and entreat them evil four hundred years.

God spoke in this way: that his offspring would live as aliens in a strange land, and that they would be enslaved and mistreated for four hundred years.

Mais je jugerai la nation à laquelle ils auront été asservis, dit Dieu ; et après cela ils sortiront, et me serviront en ce lieu-ci.

Mas yo juzgaré, dijo Dios, la nación á la cual serán siervos: y después de esto saldrán y me servirán en este lugar.

And the nation to whom they shall be in bondage will I judge, said God: and after that shall they come forth, and serve me in this place.

‘I will judge the nation to which they will be in bondage,’ said God, ‘and after that they will come out and serve me in this place.’

Puis il lui donna l’Alliance de la Circoncision ; et après cela Abraham engendra Isaac, lequel il circoncit le huitième jour ; et Isaac engendra Jacob, et Jacob les douze Patriarches.

Y dióle el pacto de la circuncisión: y así Abraham engendró á Isaac, y le circuncidó al octavo día; é Isaac á Jacob, y Jacob á los doce patriarcas.

And he gave him the covenant of circumcision: and so Abraham begat Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat the twelve patriarchs.

Et les Patriarches étant pleins d’envie vendirent Joseph pour être mené en Egypte ; mais Dieu était avec lui ;

Y los patriarcas, movidos de envidia, vendieron á José para Egipto; mas Dios era con él,

And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: but God was with him,

“The patriarchs, moved with jealousy against Joseph, sold him into Egypt. God was with him

Qui le délivra de toutes ses afflictions ; et l’ayant rempli de sagesse il le rendit agréable à Pharaon, Roi d’Egypte, qui l’établit Gouverneur sur l’Egypte, et sur toute sa maison.

Y le libró de todas sus tribulaciones, y le dió gracia y sabiduría en la presencia de Faraón, rey de Egipto, el cual le puso por gobernador sobre Egipto, y sobre toda su casa.

And delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favour and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house.

Or il survint dans tout le pays d’Egypte et en Canaan une famine et une grande angoisse ; tellement que nos pères ne pouvaient trouver des vivres.

Vino entonces hambre en toda la tierra de Egipto y de Canaán, y grande tribulación; y nuestros padres no hallaban alimentos.

Now there came a dearth over all the land of Egypt and Chanaan, and great affliction: and our fathers found no sustenance.

Mais quand Jacob eut ouï dire qu’il y avait du blé en Egypte, il y envoya pour la première fois nos pères.

Y como oyese Jacob que había trigo en Egipto, envió á nuestros padres la primera vez.

Et y étant retournés une seconde fois, Joseph fut reconnu par ses frères, et la famille de Joseph fut déclarée à Pharaon.

Y en la segunda, José fué conocido de sus hermanos, y fué sabido de Faraón el linaje de José.

And at the second time Joseph was made known to his brethren; and Joseph’s kindred was made known unto Pharaoh.

Alors Joseph envoya quérir Jacob son père, et toute sa famille, qui était soixante-quinze personnes.

Y enviando José, hizo venir á su padre Jacob, y á toda su parentela, en número de setenta y cinco personas.

Then sent Joseph, and called his father Jacob to him, and all his kindred, threescore and fifteen souls.

Qui furent transportés à Sichem, et mis dans le sépulcre qu’Abraham avait acheté à prix d’argent des fils d’Emmor, fils de Sichem.

Los cuales fueron trasladados á Sichêm, y puestos en el sepulcro que compró Abraham á precio de dinero de los hijos de Hemor de Sichêm.

And were carried over into Sychem, and laid in the sepulchre that Abraham bought for a sum of money of the sons of Emmor the father of Sychem.

and they were brought back to Shechem and laid in the tomb that Abraham bought for a price in silver from the children of Hamor of Shechem.

Mais comme le temps de la promesse pour laquelle Dieu avait juré à Abraham, s’approchait, le peuple s’augmenta et se multiplia en Egypte.

Mas como se acercaba el tiempo de la promesa, la cual Dios había jurado á Abraham, el pueblo creció y multiplicóse en Egipto,

But when the time of the promise drew nigh, which God had sworn to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt,

“But as the time of the promise came close which God had sworn to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt,

Jusqu’à ce qu’il parût en Egypte un autre Roi, qui n’avait point connu Joseph ;

Hasta que se levantó otro rey en Egipto que no conocía á José.

Till another king arose, which knew not Joseph.

until there arose a different king who didn’t know Joseph.

Et qui usant de ruse contre notre nation, maltraita nos pères, jusqu’à leur faire exposer leurs enfants à l’abandon, afin d’en faire périr la race.

Este, usando de astucia con nuestro linaje, maltrató á nuestros padres, á fin de que pusiesen á peligro de muerte sus niños, para que cesase la generación.

The same dealt subtilly with our kindred, and evil entreated our fathers, so that they cast out their young children, to the end they might not live.

The same took advantage of our race and mistreated our fathers, and forced them to abandon their babies, so that they wouldn’t stay alive.

En ce temps-là naquit Moïse, qui fut divinement beau ; et il fut nourri trois mois dans la maison de son père.

En aquel mismo tiempo nació Moisés, y fué agradable á Dios: y fué criado tres meses en casa de su padre.

In which time Moses was born, and was exceeding fair, and nourished up in his father’s house three months:

At that time Moses was born, and was exceedingly handsome to God. He was nourished three months in his father’s house.

Mais ayant été exposé à l’abandon, la fille de Pharaon l’emporta, et le nourrit pour soi comme son fils.

Mas siendo puesto al peligro, la hija de Faraón le tomó, y le crió como á hijo suyo.

And when he was cast out, Pharaoh’s daughter took him up, and nourished him for her own son.

When he was abandoned, Pharaoh’s daughter took him up and reared him as her own son.

Et Moïse fut instruit dans toute la science des Egyptiens ; et il était puissant en paroles et en actions.

Y fué enseñado Moisés en toda la sabiduría de los egipcios; y era poderoso en sus dichos y hechos.

And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds.

Moses was instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians. He was mighty in his words and works.

Mais quand il fut parvenu à l’âge de quarante ans, il forma le dessein d’aller visiter ses frères, les enfants d’Israël.

Y cuando hubo cumplido la edad de cuarenta años, le vino voluntad de visitar á sus hermanos los hijos de Israel.

And when he was full forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren the children of Israel.

But when he was forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brothers, the children of Israel.

Et voyant un d’eux à qui on faisait tort, il le défendit, et vengea celui qui était outragé, en tuant l’Egyptien.

Y como vió á uno que era injuriado, defendióle, é hiriendo al Egipcio, vengó al injuriado.

And seeing one of them suffer wrong, he defended him, and avenged him that was oppressed, and smote the Egyptian:

Or il croyait que ses frères comprendraient par là que Dieu les délivrerait par son moyen ; mais ils ne le comprirent point.

Pero él pensaba que sus hermanos entendían que Dios les había de dar salud por su mano; mas ellos no lo habían entendido.

For he supposed his brethren would have understood how that God by his hand would deliver them: but they understood not.

He supposed that his brothers understood that God, by his hand, was giving them deliverance; but they didn’t understand.

Et le jour suivant il se trouva entre eux comme ils se querellaient, et il tâcha de les mettre d’accord, en leur disant : hommes, vous êtes frères, pourquoi vous faites-vous tort l’un à l’autre ?

Y al día siguiente, riñendo ellos, se les mostró, y los ponía en paz, diciendo: Varones, hermanos sois, ¿por qué os injuriáis los unos á los otros?

And the next day he shewed himself unto them as they strove, and would have set them at one again, saying, Sirs, ye are brethren; why do ye wrong one to another?

“The day following, he appeared to them as they fought, and urged them to be at peace again, saying, ‘Sirs, you are brothers. Why do you wrong one another?’

Mais celui qui faisait tort à son prochain, le rebuta, lui disant : qui t’a établi Prince et Juge sur nous ?

Entonces el que injuriaba á su prójimo, le rempujó, diciendo: ¿Quién te ha puesto por príncipe y juez sobre nosotros?

But he that did his neighbour wrong thrust him away, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge over us?

But he who did his neighbor wrong pushed him away, saying, ‘Who made you a ruler and a judge over us?

Me veux-tu tuer, comme tu tuas hier l’Egyptien ?

¿Quieres tú matarme, como mataste ayer al Egipcio?

Wilt thou kill me, as thou diddest the Egyptian yesterday?

Do you want to kill me as you killed the Egyptian yesterday?’

Alors Moïse s’enfuit sur un tel discours, et fut étranger dans le pays de Madian, où il eut deux fils.

A esta palabra Moisés huyó, y se hizo extranjero en tierra de Madián, donde engendró dos hijos.

Then fled Moses at this saying, and was a stranger in the land of Madian, where he begat two sons.

Et quarante ans étant accomplis, l’Ange du Seigneur lui apparut au désert de la montagne de Sinaï, dans une flamme de feu qui était en un buisson.

Y cumplidos cuarenta años, un ángel le apareció en el desierto del monte Sina, en fuego de llama de una zarza.

And when forty years were expired, there appeared to him in the wilderness of mount Sina an angel of the Lord in a flame of fire in a bush.

“When forty years were fulfilled, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in the wilderness of Mount Sinai, in a flame of fire in a bush.

Et quand Moïse le vit, il fut étonné de la vision, et comme il approchait pour considérer ce que c’était, la voix du Seigneur lui fut adressée,

Entonces Moisés mirando, se maravilló de la visión: y llegándose para considerar, fué hecha á él voz del Señor:

When Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight: and as he drew near to behold it, the voice of the Lord came unto him,

Disant : je suis le Dieu de tes pères, le Dieu d’Abraham, et le Dieu d’Isaac, et le Dieu de Jacob. Et Moïse tout tremblant n’osait considérer ce que c’était.

Yo soy el Dios de tus padres, el Dios de Abraham, y el Dios de Isaac, y el Dios de Jacob. Mas Moisés, temeroso, no osaba mirar.

Saying, I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Then Moses trembled, and durst not behold.

‘I am the God of your fathers: the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ Moses trembled and dared not look.

Et le Seigneur lui dit : déchausse les souliers de tes pieds : car le lieu où tu es, est une terre sainte.

Y le dijo el Señor: Quita los zapatos de tus pies, porque el lugar en que estás es tierra santa.

Then said the Lord to him, Put off thy shoes from thy feet: for the place where thou standest is holy ground.

The Lord said to him, ‘Take off your sandals, for the place where you stand is holy ground.

J’ai vu, j’ai vu l’affliction de mon peuple qui est en Egypte, et j’ai ouï leur gémissement, et je suis descendu pour les délivrer : maintenant donc viens ; je t’enverrai en Egypte.

He visto, he visto la aflicción de mi pueblo que está en Egipto, y he oído el gemido de ellos, y he descendido para librarlos. Ahora pues, ven, te enviaré á Egipto.

I have seen, I have seen the affliction of my people which is in Egypt, and I have heard their groaning, and am come down to deliver them. And now come, I will send thee into Egypt.

I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt, and have heard their groaning. I have come down to deliver them. Now come, I will send you into Egypt.’

Ce Moïse, lequel ils avaient rejeté, en disant : qui t’a établi Prince et Juge ? c’est celui que Dieu envoya pour Prince et pour libérateur par le moyen de l’Ange qui lui était apparu au buisson.

A este Moisés, al cual habían rehusado, diciendo: ¿Quién te ha puesto por príncipe y juez? á éste envió Dios por príncipe y redentor con la mano del ángel que le apareció en la zarza.

This Moses whom they refused, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge? the same did God send to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush.

“This Moses whom they refused, saying, ‘Who made you a ruler and a judge?’—God has sent him as both a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel who appeared to him in the bush.

C’est celui qui les tira dehors, en faisant des miracles et des prodiges dans la mer Rouge, et au désert par quarante ans.

Este los sacó, habiendo hecho prodigios y milagros en la tierra de Egipto, y en el mar Bermejo, y en el desierto por cuarenta años.

He brought them out, after that he had shewed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red sea, and in the wilderness forty years.

This man led them out, having worked wonders and signs in Egypt, in the Red Sea, and in the wilderness for forty years.

C’est ce Moïse qui a dit aux enfants d’Israël : le Seigneur votre Dieu vous suscitera un Prophète tel que moi d’entre vos frères ; écoutez-le.

Este es el Moisés, el cual dijo á los hijos de Israel: Profeta os levantará el Señor Dios vuestro de vuestros hermanos, como yo; á él oiréis.

This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear.

This is that Moses who said to the children of Israel, ‘The Lord our God will raise up a prophet for you from among your brothers, like me.’

C’est celui qui fut en l’assemblée au désert avec l’Ange qui lui parlait sur la montagne de Sinaï, et qui fut avec nos pères, et reçut les paroles de vie pour nous les donner.

Este es aquél que estuvo en la congregación en el desierto con el ángel que le hablaba en el monte Sina, y con nuestros padres; y recibió las palabras de vida para darnos:

This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us:

This is he who was in the assembly in the wilderness with the angel that spoke to him on Mount Sinai, and with our fathers, who received living revelations to give to us,

Auquel nos pères ne voulurent point obéir, mais ils le rejetèrent, et se détournèrent en leur coeur pour retourner en Egypte,

Al cual nuestros padres no quisieron obedecer; antes le desecharon, y se apartaron de corazón á Egipto,

To whom our fathers would not obey, but thrust him from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt,

to whom our fathers wouldn’t be obedient, but rejected him and turned back in their hearts to Egypt,

Disant à Aaron : fais-nous des dieux qui aillent devant nous ; car nous ne savons point ce qui est arrivé à ce Moïse qui nous a amenés hors du pays d’Egypte.

Diciendo á Aarón: Haznos dioses que vayan delante de nosotros; porque á este Moisés, que nos sacó de tierra de Egipto, no sabemos qué le ha acontecido.

Saying unto Aaron, Make us gods to go before us: for as for this Moses, which brought us out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

saying to Aaron, ‘Make us gods that will go before us, for as for this Moses who led us out of the land of Egypt, we don’t know what has become of him.’

Ils firent donc en ces jours-là un veau, et ils offrirent des sacrifices à l’idole, et se réjouirent dans les oeuvres de leurs mains.

Y entonces hicieron un becerro, y ofrecieron sacrificio al ídolo, y en las obras de sus manos se holgaron.

And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice unto the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.

C’est pourquoi aussi Dieu se détourna d’eux, et les abandonna à servir l’armée du ciel, ainsi qu’il est écrit au Livre des Prophètes : maison d’Israël, m’avez-vous offert des sacrifices et des oblations pendant quarante ans au désert ?

Y Dios se apartó, y los entregó que sirviesen al ejército del cielo; como está escrito en el libro de los profetas: ¿Me ofrecisteis víctimas y sacrificios en el desierto por cuarenta años, casa de Israel?

Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, O ye house of Israel, have ye offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices by the space of forty years in the wilderness?

But God turned away and gave them up to serve the army of the sky, as it is written in the book of the prophets, ‘Did you offer to me slain animals and sacrifices forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel?

Mais vous avez porté le tabernacle de Moloc, et l’étoile de votre dieu Remphan ; qui sont des figures que vous avez faites pour les adorer ; c’est pourquoi je vous transporterai au delà de Babylone.

Antes, trajisteis el tabernáculo de Moloch, y la estrella de vuestro dios Remphan: figuras que os hicisteis para adorarlas: os transportaré pues, más allá de Babilonia.

Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan, figures which ye made to worship them: and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.

You took up the tabernacle of Moloch, the star of your god Rephan, the figures which you made to worship, so I will carry you away beyond Babylon.’

Le Tabernacle du témoignage a été avec nos pères au désert, comme avait ordonné celui qui avait dit à Moïse, de le faire selon le modèle qu’il en avait vu.

Tuvieron nuestros padres el tabernáculo del testimonio en el desierto, como había ordenado Dios, hablando á Moisés que lo hiciese según la forma que había visto.

Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as he had appointed, speaking unto Moses, that he should make it according to the fashion that he had seen.

“Our fathers had the tabernacle of the testimony in the wilderness, even as he who spoke to Moses commanded him to make it according to the pattern that he had seen;

Et nos pères ayant reçu ce Tabernacle, ils le portèrent sous la conduite de Josué au pays qui était possédé par les nations que Dieu chassa de devant nos pères, où il demeura jusqu’aux jours de David ;

El cual recibido, metieron también nuestros padres con Josué en la posesión de los Gentiles, que Dios echó de la presencia de nuestros padres, hasta los días de David;

Which also our fathers that came after brought in with Jesus into the possession of the Gentiles, whom God drave out before the face of our fathers, unto the days of David;

which also our fathers, in their turn, brought in with Joshua when they entered into the possession of the nations whom God drove out before the face of our fathers to the days of David,

Qui trouva grâce devant Dieu et qui demanda de pouvoir dresser un Tabernacle au Dieu de Jacob.

El cual halló gracia delante de Dios, y pidió hallar tabernáculo para el Dios de Jacob.

Who found favour before God, and desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.

who found favor in the sight of God, and asked to find a habitation for the God of Jacob.

Et Salomon lui bâtit une maison.

Mas Salomón le edificó casa.

Mais le Souverain n’habite point dans des temples faits de main, selon ces paroles du Prophète :

Si bien el Altísimo no habita en templos hechos de mano; como el profeta dice:

Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet,

However, the Most High doesn’t dwell in temples made with hands, as the prophet says,

Le ciel est mon trône, et la terre est le marchepied de mes pieds : quelle maison me bâtirez-vous, dit le Seigneur, ou quel pourrait être le lieu de mon repos ?

El cielo es mi trono, y la tierra es el estrado de mis pies. ¿Qué casa me edificaréis? dice el Señor; ¿ó cuál es el lugar de mi reposo?

Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?

‘heaven is my throne, and the earth a footstool for my feet. What kind of house will you build me?’ says the Lord. ‘Or what is the place of my rest?

Ma main n’a-t-elle pas fait toutes ces choses ?

¿No hizo mi mano todas estas cosas?

Hath not my hand made all these things?

Didn’t my hand make all these things?’

Gens de cou roide, et incirconcis de coeur et d’oreilles, vous vous obstinez toujours contre le Saint-Esprit ; vous faites comme vos pères ont fait.

Duros de cerviz, é incircuncisos de corazón y de oídos, vosotros resistís siempre al Espíritu Santo: como vuestros padres, así también vosotros.

Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.

“You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit! As your fathers did, so you do.

Lequel des Prophètes vos pères n’ont-ils point persécuté ? ils ont même tué ceux qui ont prédit l’avénement du Juste, duquel maintenant vous avez été les traîtres et les meurtriers,

¿A cuál de los profetas no persiguieron vuestros padres? y mataron á los que antes anunciaron la venida del Justo, del cual vosotros ahora habéis sido entregadores y matadores;
