Então o sumo sacerdote perguntou a Estêvão: “Essas acusações são verdadeiras?”

EL príncipe de los sacerdotes dijo entonces: ¿Es esto así?

Then said the high priest, Are these things so?

The high priest said, “Are these things so?”

Estêvão respondeu: “Irmãos e pais, ouçam-me! O glorioso Deus apareceu ao nosso antepassado Abraão estando ele ainda na Mesopotâmia, antes que ele se mudasse para Harã, e disse:

Y él dijo: Varones hermanos y padres, oid: El Dios de la gloria apareció á nuestro padre Abraham, estando en Mesopotamia, antes que morase en Chârán,

And he said, Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran,

He said, “Brothers and fathers, listen. The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he lived in Haran,

‘Saia da sua terra, do meio dos seus parentes, e vá para a terra que eu lhe mostrarei’.

Y le dijo: Sal de tu tierra y de tu parentela, y ven á la tierra que te mostraré.

And said unto him, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and come into the land which I shall shew thee.

and said to him, ‘Get out of your land and away from your relatives, and come into a land which I will show you.’

“Então ele deixou a terra dos caldeus e morou em Harã, até a morte do seu pai. Depois Deus trouxe Abraão para esta terra, onde vocês agora moram.

Entonces salió de la tierra de los Caldeos, y habitó en Chârán: y de allí, muerto su padre, le traspasó á esta tierra, en la cual vosotros habitáis ahora;

Then came he out of the land of the Chaldæans, and dwelt in Charran: and from thence, when his father was dead, he removed him into this land, wherein ye now dwell.

Then he came out of the land of the Chaldaeans and lived in Haran. From there, when his father was dead, God moved him into this land where you are now living.

Mas Deus não deu a ele nenhuma herança aqui, nem um pedaço de terra. Entretanto, Deus prometeu que no fim de tudo ele e, depois dele, os seus descendentes possuiriam a terra, embora, na época, ele ainda não tivesse filhos!

Y no le dió herencia en ella, ni aun para asentar un pie: mas le prometió que se la daría en posesión, y á su simiente después de él, no teniendo hijo.

And he gave him none inheritance in it, no, not so much as to set his foot on: yet he promised that he would give it to him for a possession, and to his seed after him, when as yet he had no child.

Mas Deus falou a ele dessa forma: ‘Os seus descendentes vão ser peregrinos em uma terra estrangeira e ali se tornarão escravos e serão maltratados por 400 anos.

Y hablóle Dios así: Que su simiente sería extranjera en tierra ajena, y que los reducirían á servidumbre y maltratarían, por cuatrocientos años.

And God spake on this wise, That his seed should sojourn in a strange land; and that they should bring them into bondage, and entreat them evil four hundred years.

God spoke in this way: that his offspring would live as aliens in a strange land, and that they would be enslaved and mistreated for four hundred years.

Porém eu castigarei a nação que escravizar vocês, e depois sairão dali, voltarão a esta terra e me adorarão neste lugar’.

Mas yo juzgaré, dijo Dios, la nación á la cual serán siervos: y después de esto saldrán y me servirán en este lugar.

And the nation to whom they shall be in bondage will I judge, said God: and after that shall they come forth, and serve me in this place.

‘I will judge the nation to which they will be in bondage,’ said God, ‘and after that they will come out and serve me in this place.’

Deus também deu a Abraão, naquele tempo, a cerimônia da circuncisão, como sinal da aliança entre Deus e o povo de Abraão. Por isso Isaque, filho de Abraão, foi circuncidado quando estava com oito dias de idade. Isaque tornou-se o pai de Jacó, e Jacó foi o pai dos doze patriarcas da nação judaica.

Y dióle el pacto de la circuncisión: y así Abraham engendró á Isaac, y le circuncidó al octavo día; é Isaac á Jacob, y Jacob á los doce patriarcas.

And he gave him the covenant of circumcision: and so Abraham begat Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat the twelve patriarchs.

“Os patriarcas tiveram muita inveja de José e venderam o irmão como escravo para o Egito. Porém Deus estava com ele

Y los patriarcas, movidos de envidia, vendieron á José para Egipto; mas Dios era con él,

And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: but God was with him,

“The patriarchs, moved with jealousy against Joseph, sold him into Egypt. God was with him

e o livrou de todas as suas angústias, fazendo com que caísse na simpatia do faraó, rei do Egito. Deus também deu a José uma sabedoria excepcional, de modo que foi nomeado pelo faraó governador de todo o Egito, e encarregado de todos os assuntos do palácio.

Y le libró de todas sus tribulaciones, y le dió gracia y sabiduría en la presencia de Faraón, rey de Egipto, el cual le puso por gobernador sobre Egipto, y sobre toda su casa.

And delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favour and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house.

“Depois veio uma fome sobre o Egito e Canaã, trazendo grande sofrimento para os nossos antepassados. Quando a comida deles se acabou,

Vino entonces hambre en toda la tierra de Egipto y de Canaán, y grande tribulación; y nuestros padres no hallaban alimentos.

Now there came a dearth over all the land of Egypt and Chanaan, and great affliction: and our fathers found no sustenance.

Jacó soube que ainda havia trigo no Egito e então mandou nossos antepassados em sua primeira viagem para comprar trigo.

Y como oyese Jacob que había trigo en Egipto, envió á nuestros padres la primera vez.

But when Jacob heard that there was corn in Egypt, he sent out our fathers first.

Quando foram a segunda vez, José revelou a sua identidade aos seus irmãos, e eles foram apresentados ao faraó.

Y en la segunda, José fué conocido de sus hermanos, y fué sabido de Faraón el linaje de José.

And at the second time Joseph was made known to his brethren; and Joseph’s kindred was made known unto Pharaoh.

Então José mandou trazer Jacó, o pai dele, para o Egito, e toda a sua família, que eram ao todo setenta e cinco pessoas.

Y enviando José, hizo venir á su padre Jacob, y á toda su parentela, en número de setenta y cinco personas.

Then sent Joseph, and called his father Jacob to him, and all his kindred, threescore and fifteen souls.

Joseph sent and summoned Jacob his father and all his relatives, seventy-five souls.

Assim Jacó foi para o Egito, onde morreu, e também todos os nossos antepassados.

Seus corpos foram levados de volta para Siquém e sepultados no túmulo que Abraão tinha comprado dos filhos de Hamor, pai de Siquém, por um certo preço.

Los cuales fueron trasladados á Sichêm, y puestos en el sepulcro que compró Abraham á precio de dinero de los hijos de Hemor de Sichêm.

And were carried over into Sychem, and laid in the sepulchre that Abraham bought for a sum of money of the sons of Emmor the father of Sychem.

and they were brought back to Shechem and laid in the tomb that Abraham bought for a price in silver from the children of Hamor of Shechem.

“Quando se aproximou o tempo de Deus cumprir sua promessa a Abraão, em libertar seus descendentes da escravidão, o povo judeu havia se multiplicado grandemente no Egito;

Mas como se acercaba el tiempo de la promesa, la cual Dios había jurado á Abraham, el pueblo creció y multiplicóse en Egipto,

But when the time of the promise drew nigh, which God had sworn to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt,

“But as the time of the promise came close which God had sworn to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt,

então foi coroado um rei que nada sabia a respeito de José.

Hasta que se levantó otro rey en Egipto que no conocía á José.

Till another king arose, which knew not Joseph.

until there arose a different king who didn’t know Joseph.

Esse rei conspirou contra o nosso povo, forçando os pais a abandonarem seus filhos recém-nascidos, para que não sobrevivessem.

Este, usando de astucia con nuestro linaje, maltrató á nuestros padres, á fin de que pusiesen á peligro de muerte sus niños, para que cesase la generación.

The same dealt subtilly with our kindred, and evil entreated our fathers, so that they cast out their young children, to the end they might not live.

The same took advantage of our race and mistreated our fathers, and forced them to abandon their babies, so that they wouldn’t stay alive.

“Por aquela época nasceu Moisés, uma criança bonita aos olhos de Deus. Ele foi escondido em casa por três meses.

En aquel mismo tiempo nació Moisés, y fué agradable á Dios: y fué criado tres meses en casa de su padre.

In which time Moses was born, and was exceeding fair, and nourished up in his father’s house three months:

At that time Moses was born, and was exceedingly handsome to God. He was nourished three months in his father’s house.

E, quando finalmente seus pais não podiam mais conservar escondido o menino, o abandonaram, e a filha do faraó encontrou Moisés e adotou o nenê como seu próprio filho.

Mas siendo puesto al peligro, la hija de Faraón le tomó, y le crió como á hijo suyo.

And when he was cast out, Pharaoh’s daughter took him up, and nourished him for her own son.

When he was abandoned, Pharaoh’s daughter took him up and reared him as her own son.

Moisés foi educado em toda a sabedoria dos egípcios e tornou-se poderoso em palavras e ações.

Y fué enseñado Moisés en toda la sabiduría de los egipcios; y era poderoso en sus dichos y hechos.

And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds.

Moses was instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians. He was mighty in his words and works.

“Um dia, quando ele estava com 40 anos, veio-lhe a ideia de visitar seus irmãos israelitas.

Y cuando hubo cumplido la edad de cuarenta años, le vino voluntad de visitar á sus hermanos los hijos de Israel.

And when he was full forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren the children of Israel.

But when he was forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brothers, the children of Israel.

Nessa visita, viu um egípcio maltratando um homem de Israel. Então Moisés defendeu o israelita e o vingou, matando o egípcio.

Y como vió á uno que era injuriado, defendióle, é hiriendo al Egipcio, vengó al injuriado.

And seeing one of them suffer wrong, he defended him, and avenged him that was oppressed, and smote the Egyptian:

Moisés esperava que seus irmãos entendessem que ele tinha sido mandado por Deus para socorrer a todos eles, porém eles não entenderam.

Pero él pensaba que sus hermanos entendían que Dios les había de dar salud por su mano; mas ellos no lo habían entendido.

For he supposed his brethren would have understood how that God by his hand would deliver them: but they understood not.

He supposed that his brothers understood that God, by his hand, was giving them deliverance; but they didn’t understand.

No outro dia viu dois homens de Israel brigando. Tentou agir como um pacificador. ‘Senhores’, disse ele, ‘vocês são irmãos e não deviam estar brigando assim! Isso está errado!’

Y al día siguiente, riñendo ellos, se les mostró, y los ponía en paz, diciendo: Varones, hermanos sois, ¿por qué os injuriáis los unos á los otros?

And the next day he shewed himself unto them as they strove, and would have set them at one again, saying, Sirs, ye are brethren; why do ye wrong one to another?

“The day following, he appeared to them as they fought, and urged them to be at peace again, saying, ‘Sirs, you are brothers. Why do you wrong one another?’

“Porém o homem que era culpado pela briga recusou a ajuda de Moisés. ‘Quem o nomeou autoridade e juiz sobre nós?’, perguntou ele.

Entonces el que injuriaba á su prójimo, le rempujó, diciendo: ¿Quién te ha puesto por príncipe y juez sobre nosotros?

But he that did his neighbour wrong thrust him away, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge over us?

But he who did his neighbor wrong pushed him away, saying, ‘Who made you a ruler and a judge over us?

‘Você vai me matar como matou aquele egípcio ontem?’

¿Quieres tú matarme, como mataste ayer al Egipcio?

Wilt thou kill me, as thou diddest the Egyptian yesterday?

Do you want to kill me as you killed the Egyptian yesterday?’

Ouvindo isso, Moisés fugiu do país e morou como estrangeiro na terra de Midiã, onde nasceram seus dois filhos.

A esta palabra Moisés huyó, y se hizo extranjero en tierra de Madián, donde engendró dos hijos.

Then fled Moses at this saying, and was a stranger in the land of Madian, where he begat two sons.

“Quarenta anos depois, no deserto próximo ao monte Sinai, um anjo apareceu a ele, num arbusto em chamas.

Y cumplidos cuarenta años, un ángel le apareció en el desierto del monte Sina, en fuego de llama de una zarza.

And when forty years were expired, there appeared to him in the wilderness of mount Sina an angel of the Lord in a flame of fire in a bush.

“When forty years were fulfilled, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in the wilderness of Mount Sinai, in a flame of fire in a bush.

Moisés viu aquilo e perguntou a si mesmo o que seria. Ao chegar perto para ver, ouviu a voz do Senhor:

Entonces Moisés mirando, se maravilló de la visión: y llegándose para considerar, fué hecha á él voz del Señor:

When Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight: and as he drew near to behold it, the voice of the Lord came unto him,

‘Eu sou o Deus dos seus antepassados, o Deus de Abraão, o Deus de Isaque e o Deus de Jacó’. Moisés tremeu de medo e não tinha coragem de olhar.

Yo soy el Dios de tus padres, el Dios de Abraham, y el Dios de Isaac, y el Dios de Jacob. Mas Moisés, temeroso, no osaba mirar.

Saying, I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Then Moses trembled, and durst not behold.

‘I am the God of your fathers: the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ Moses trembled and dared not look.

“Depois o Senhor disse: ‘Tire as sandálias, porque você está pisando em terra sagrada.

Y le dijo el Señor: Quita los zapatos de tus pies, porque el lugar en que estás es tierra santa.

Then said the Lord to him, Put off thy shoes from thy feet: for the place where thou standest is holy ground.

The Lord said to him, ‘Take off your sandals, for the place where you stand is holy ground.

Eu tenho visto a aflição do meu povo no Egito e ouvi os seus clamores. Desci para libertar Israel. Venha, que eu vou enviar você ao Egito’.

He visto, he visto la aflicción de mi pueblo que está en Egipto, y he oído el gemido de ellos, y he descendido para librarlos. Ahora pues, ven, te enviaré á Egipto.

I have seen, I have seen the affliction of my people which is in Egypt, and I have heard their groaning, and am come down to deliver them. And now come, I will send thee into Egypt.

I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt, and have heard their groaning. I have come down to deliver them. Now come, I will send you into Egypt.’

“Assim Deus mandou de volta o mesmo homem que o povo de Israel tinha desprezado antes, quando perguntaram a ele: ‘Quem fez de você autoridade e juiz sobre nós?’ Moisés foi enviado para ser a autoridade e o libertador deles, depois que o anjo lhe apareceu no arbusto.

A este Moisés, al cual habían rehusado, diciendo: ¿Quién te ha puesto por príncipe y juez? á éste envió Dios por príncipe y redentor con la mano del ángel que le apareció en la zarza.

This Moses whom they refused, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge? the same did God send to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush.

“This Moses whom they refused, saying, ‘Who made you a ruler and a judge?’—God has sent him as both a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel who appeared to him in the bush.

Por meio de muitos sinais e maravilhas ele os conduziu para fora do Egito, através do mar Vermelho e pelo deserto durante 40 anos.

Este los sacó, habiendo hecho prodigios y milagros en la tierra de Egipto, y en el mar Bermejo, y en el desierto por cuarenta años.

He brought them out, after that he had shewed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red sea, and in the wilderness forty years.

This man led them out, having worked wonders and signs in Egypt, in the Red Sea, and in the wilderness for forty years.

“O próprio Moisés disse ao povo de Israel: ‘Deus levantará entre os irmãos de vocês um profeta semelhante a mim’.

Este es el Moisés, el cual dijo á los hijos de Israel: Profeta os levantará el Señor Dios vuestro de vuestros hermanos, como yo; á él oiréis.

This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear.

This is that Moses who said to the children of Israel, ‘The Lord our God will raise up a prophet for you from among your brothers, like me.’

Pois no deserto Moisés foi o mediador entre o povo de Israel e o anjo que deu a eles a Lei de Deus — a palavra viva — no monte Sinai, para transmiti-las a nós.

Este es aquél que estuvo en la congregación en el desierto con el ángel que le hablaba en el monte Sina, y con nuestros padres; y recibió las palabras de vida para darnos:

This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us:

This is he who was in the assembly in the wilderness with the angel that spoke to him on Mount Sinai, and with our fathers, who received living revelations to give to us,

“Mas os nossos antepassados recusaram-se a obedecer a ele, desprezaram Moisés e quiseram voltar ao Egito.

Al cual nuestros padres no quisieron obedecer; antes le desecharon, y se apartaron de corazón á Egipto,

To whom our fathers would not obey, but thrust him from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt,

to whom our fathers wouldn’t be obedient, but rejected him and turned back in their hearts to Egypt,

Disseram a Arão: ‘Faça ídolos para nós, para que tenhamos deuses que nos levem adiante; porque não sabemos o que aconteceu com Moisés, que nos tirou do Egito’.

Diciendo á Aarón: Haznos dioses que vayan delante de nosotros; porque á este Moisés, que nos sacó de tierra de Egipto, no sabemos qué le ha acontecido.

Saying unto Aaron, Make us gods to go before us: for as for this Moses, which brought us out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

saying to Aaron, ‘Make us gods that will go before us, for as for this Moses who led us out of the land of Egypt, we don’t know what has become of him.’

Assim eles fizeram um bezerro como ídolo, ofereceram sacrifício a ele e celebraram aquela coisa que tinham feito.

Y entonces hicieron un becerro, y ofrecieron sacrificio al ídolo, y en las obras de sus manos se holgaron.

And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice unto the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.

Então Deus lhes deu as costas e abandonou a todos eles, deixando que servissem ao sol, à lua e às estrelas como deuses deles, conforme foi escrito no livro dos profetas: ‘Foi a mim que vocês ofereceram sacrifícios naqueles quarenta anos no deserto, ó povo de Israel?

Y Dios se apartó, y los entregó que sirviesen al ejército del cielo; como está escrito en el libro de los profetas: ¿Me ofrecisteis víctimas y sacrificios en el desierto por cuarenta años, casa de Israel?

Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, O ye house of Israel, have ye offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices by the space of forty years in the wilderness?

But God turned away and gave them up to serve the army of the sky, as it is written in the book of the prophets, ‘Did you offer to me slain animals and sacrifices forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel?

Não! O interesse verdadeiro de vocês estava nos seus deuses pagãos — em Moloque, na estrela do seu deus Renfã e em todas as imagens que vocês fizeram para adorar. Portanto, eu enviarei vocês para o exílio, para além da Babilônia’.

Antes, trajisteis el tabernáculo de Moloch, y la estrella de vuestro dios Remphan: figuras que os hicisteis para adorarlas: os transportaré pues, más allá de Babilonia.

Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan, figures which ye made to worship them: and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.

“Os nossos antepassados levavam com eles o tabernáculo da aliança, através do deserto. O tabernáculo foi fabricado exatamente de acordo com o plano que Deus tinha mostrado a Moisés.

Tuvieron nuestros padres el tabernáculo del testimonio en el desierto, como había ordenado Dios, hablando á Moisés que lo hiciese según la forma que había visto.

Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as he had appointed, speaking unto Moses, that he should make it according to the fashion that he had seen.

“Our fathers had the tabernacle of the testimony in the wilderness, even as he who spoke to Moses commanded him to make it according to the pattern that he had seen;

Anos depois, quando Josué conduziu as batalhas contra as nações estrangeiras, esse tabernáculo foi levado com eles para o seu novo território e usado até o tempo do rei Davi.

El cual recibido, metieron también nuestros padres con Josué en la posesión de los Gentiles, que Dios echó de la presencia de nuestros padres, hasta los días de David;

Which also our fathers that came after brought in with Jesus into the possession of the Gentiles, whom God drave out before the face of our fathers, unto the days of David;

which also our fathers, in their turn, brought in with Joshua when they entered into the possession of the nations whom God drove out before the face of our fathers to the days of David,

Deus abençoou grandemente a Davi, que pediu que lhe permitisse construir uma habitação permanente para o Deus de Jacó.

El cual halló gracia delante de Dios, y pidió hallar tabernáculo para el Dios de Jacob.

Who found favour before God, and desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.

who found favor in the sight of God, and asked to find a habitation for the God of Jacob.

Porém foi Salomão quem construiu esta casa.

“Contudo, Deus não habita em casas feitas por mãos humanas. Como diz o profeta:

Si bien el Altísimo no habita en templos hechos de mano; como el profeta dice:

Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet,

However, the Most High doesn’t dwell in temples made with hands, as the prophet says,

‘O céu é o meu trono’, e ‘a terra é o estrado dos meus pés. Que espécie de casa vocês poderiam construir?’, diz o Senhor, ou, ‘onde seria o meu lugar de descanso?

El cielo es mi trono, y la tierra es el estrado de mis pies. ¿Qué casa me edificaréis? dice el Señor; ¿ó cuál es el lugar de mi reposo?

Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?

‘heaven is my throne, and the earth a footstool for my feet. What kind of house will you build me?’ says the Lord. ‘Or what is the place of my rest?

Por acaso não fui eu que fiz todas essas coisas?’

¿No hizo mi mano todas estas cosas?

Hath not my hand made all these things?

Didn’t my hand make all these things?’

“Como vocês são rebeldes e duros de coração! Será que resistirão para sempre ao Espírito Santo? Seus antepassados agiram assim e vocês agem da mesma maneira!

Duros de cerviz, é incircuncisos de corazón y de oídos, vosotros resistís siempre al Espíritu Santo: como vuestros padres, así también vosotros.

Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.

“You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit! As your fathers did, so you do.

Digam o nome de um profeta que os antepassados de vocês não perseguiram! Eles até mataram aqueles que profetizaram sobre a vinda do Justo, a quem vocês traíram e assassinaram.

¿A cuál de los profetas no persiguieron vuestros padres? y mataron á los que antes anunciaron la venida del Justo, del cual vosotros ahora habéis sido entregadores y matadores;

Sim, e vocês de propósito desobedeceram às Leis de Deus, embora fossem recebidas das mãos de anjos”.

Que recibisteis la ley por disposición de ángeles, y no la guardasteis.

Os líderes judaicos ficaram ardendo em raiva com a acusação de Estêvão e rangiam os dentes de fúria.

Enquanto as pedras eram atiradas sobre Estêvão, ele orava: “Senhor Jesus, receba meu espírito”.
