1Este es el mensaje que Dios le envió a Israel por medio del profeta Amós, que era un pastor de ovejas que vivía en el pueblo de Tecoa. Esto ocurrió dos años antes del memorable terremoto, durante el tiempo en que Uzías reinaba sobre Judá y Jeroboán, hijo de Joás, reinaba sobre Israel.
2Este es su mensaje: «Desde Sion el Señor rugirá como un león, desde Jerusalén lanzará un poderoso grito. Será tan terrible su grito que los pastos de los campos se secarán y se resecará la cumbre del monte Carmelo».
3El Señor dice: «Los habitantes de Damasco han acumulado maldades sobre maldades, así que no los dejaré sin el castigo que se merecen. Porque han maltratado tanto a los habitantes de Galaad que parece que los han trillado con trillos de hierro, tal como si fueran trigo.
4En castigo por eso yo prenderé fuego al palacio del rey Jazael y destruiré las fortalezas defensivas que se encuentran en Ben Adad.
5Quebraré los barrotes que soportan las puertas de entrada a la ciudad Damasco y mataré al que gobierna en el valle de Avén y al que gobierna en Bet Edén, y haré que los sirios sean llevados cautivos a Quir». Lo ha dicho el Señor.
6El Señor dice: «Los habitantes de Gaza han acumulado maldad sobre maldad, así que no los dejaré sin el castigo que se merecen. Ellos capturaron a un pueblo entero y lo vendieron como esclavo en Edom.
7En castigo por eso yo prenderé fuego a las murallas de Gaza y destruiré todas sus fortalezas defensivas.
8Mataré a la gente de Asdod y destruiré al rey de Ascalón. Arremeteré con furia contra los habitantes de Ecrón y no dejaré con vida a ningún filisteo». Lo ha dicho el Señor.
9El Señor dice: «Los habitantes de Tiro han acumulado maldad sobre maldad, así que no los dejaré sin castigo. Ellos han ignorado su pacto con su hermano, pues atacaron y conquistaron a todo un pueblo fraterno y lo vendieron como esclavo a Edom.
10En castigo por eso yo prenderé fuego a las murallas defensivas de Tiro y consumirá también sus palacios».
11El Señor dice: «Los habitantes de Edom han acumulado maldad sobre maldad, así que no los dejaré sin castigo. Edom persiguió sin ninguna compasión a los israelitas para matarlos, y siempre los han odiado y robado, sin mostrar la más mínima piedad.
12En castigo por eso prenderé un fuego en Temán que consumirá todas las fortalezas de Bosra».
13El Señor dice: «Los habitantes de Amón han acumulado maldad sobre maldad, así que no los dejaré sin castigo. Para ensanchar sus fronteras llenaron de terror a todo mundo, incluso abrieron el vientre de las mujeres embarazadas que vivían en Galaad.
14En castigo por eso prenderé fuego a las murallas de Rabá que consumirá también todos sus palacios. Habrá entonces gritos salvajes en medio de la batalla y parecerá todo como un torbellino en una fuerte tormenta.
15Tanto su rey como sus príncipes juntamente serán llevados al exilio». Lo ha dicho el Señor.

1LAS palabras de Amós, que fué entre los pastores de Tecoa, las cuales vió acerca de Israel en días de Uzzía rey de Judá, y en días de Jeroboam hijo de Joas rey de Israel, dos años antes del terremoto.
2Y dijo: Jehová bramará desde Sión, y dará su voz desde Jerusalem; y las estancias de los pastores se enlutarán, y secaráse la cumbre del Carmelo.
3Así ha dicho Jehová: Por tres pecados de Damasco, y por el cuarto, no desviaré su castigo; porque trillaron á Galaad con trillos de hierro.
4Y meteré fuego en la casa de Hazael, y consumirá los palacios de Benhadad.
5Y quebraré la barra de Damasco, y talaré los moradores de Bicath-aven, y los gobernadores de Beth-eden: y el pueblo de Aram será trasportado á Chîr, dice Jehová.
6Así ha dicho Jehová: Por tres pecados de Gaza, y por el cuarto, no desviaré su castigo; porque llevó cautiva toda la cautividad, para entregarlos á Edom.
7Y meteré fuego en el muro de Gaza, y quemará sus palacios.
8Y talaré los moradores de Azoto, y los gobernadores de Ascalón: y tornaré mi mano sobre Ecrón, y las reliquias de los Palestinos perecerán, ha dicho el Señor Jehová.
9Así ha dicho Jehová: Por tres pecados de Tiro, y por el cuarto, no desviaré su castigo; porque entregaron la cautividad entera á Edom, y no se acordaron del concierto de hermanos.
10Y meteré fuego en el muro de Tiro, y consumirá sus palacios.
11Así ha dicho Jehová: Por tres pecados de Edom, y por el cuarto, no desviaré su castigo; porque persiguió á cuchillo á su hermano, y rompió sus conmiseraciones; y con su furor le ha robado siempre, y ha perpetuamente guardado el enojo.
12Y meteré fuego en Temán, y consumirá los palacios de Bosra.
13Así ha dicho Jehová: Por tres pecados de los hijos de Ammón, y por el cuarto, no desviaré su castigo; porque abrieron las preñadas de Galaad, para ensanchar su término.
14Y encenderé fuego en el muro de Rabba, y consumirá sus palacios con estruendo en día de batalla, con tempestad en día tempestuoso:
15Y su rey irá en cautiverio, él y sus príncipes todos, dice Jehová.

1The words of Amos, who was among the herdmen of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.
2And he said, The LORD will roar from Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, and the top of Carmel shall wither.
3Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron:
4But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Ben-hadad.
5I will break also the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of Eden: and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the LORD.
6Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they carried away captive the whole captivity, to deliver them up to Edom:
7But I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza, which shall devour the palaces thereof:
8And I will cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, and him that holdeth the sceptre from Ashkelon, and I will turn mine hand against Ekron: and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord GOD.
9Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Tyrus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom, and remembered not the brotherly covenant:
10But I will send a fire on the wall of Tyrus, which shall devour the palaces thereof.
11Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever:
12But I will send a fire upon Teman, which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.
13Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have ripped up the women with child of Gilead, that they might enlarge their border:
14But I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour the palaces thereof, with shouting in the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind:
15And their king shall go into captivity, he and his princes together, saith the LORD.
