Amós 7

1IL Signore Iddio mi fece vedere una cotal visione: Ecco, egli formava delle locuste, in sul principio dello spuntar del guaime; ed ecco del guaime, dopo le segature del re.
2E come quelle finivano di mangiar l'erba della terra, io dissi: Deh! Signore Iddio, perdona; quale è Giacobbe, ch'egli possa risorgere? conciossiachè egli sia già tanto piccolo.
3Il Signore si pentì di ciò. Questo non avverrà, disse il Signore.
4Poi il Signore Iddio mi fece vedere una cotal visione: Ecco, il Signore bandiva di voler contendere col fuoco; e il fuoco consumò il grande abisso; consumò anche una parte del paese.
5Ed io dissi: Deh! Signore Iddio, resta; quale è Giacobbe, ch'egli possa risorgere? conciossiachè egli sia già tanto piccolo.
6Il Signore si pentì di ciò. Ancora questo non avverrà, disse il Signore.
7Poi egli mi fece vedere una cotal visione: Ecco, il Signore stava sopra un muro, fatto all'archipenzolo; ed avea in mano un archipenzolo.
8E il Signore mi disse: Che vedi, Amos? Ed io dissi: Un archipenzolo. E il Signore disse: Ecco, io pongo l'archipenzolo per mezzo il mio popolo Israele; io non glielo passerò più.
9E gli alti luoghi d'Isacco saranno distrutti, e i santuarii d'Israele saranno deserti; ed io mi leverò con la spada contro alla casa di Geroboamo.
10ALLORA Amasia, sacerdote di Betel, mandò a dire a Geroboamo, re d'Israele: Amos ha fatta congiura contro a te, in mezzo della casa d'Israele; il paese non potrà portare tutte le sue parole.
11Perciocchè, così ha detto Amos: Geroboamo morrà per la spada, e Israele sarà del tutto menato in cattività d'in su la sua terra.
12Poi Amasia disse ad Amos: Veggente, va', fuggitene nel paese di Giuda; e quivi mangia del pane, e quivi profetizza.
13E non profetizzar più in Betel; perciocchè è il santuario del re, ed una stanza reale.
14Ma Amos rispose, e disse ad Amasia: Io non era profeta, nè figliuol di profeta; anzi era mandriale, e andava cogliendo de' sicomori;
15e il Signore mi prese di dietro alla greggia, e mi disse: Va', profetizza al mio popolo Israele.
16Ora dunque, ascolta la parola del Signore. Tu dici: Non profetizzar contro ad Israele, e non istillar sopra la casa d'Isacco.
17Perciò, così ha detto il Signore: La tua moglie fornicherà nella città, e i tuoi figliuoli, e le tue figliuole caderanno per la spada; e la tua terra sarà spartita con la cordicella, e tu morrai in terra immonda, e Israele sarà del tutto menato in cattività, d'in su la sua terra.

1ASÍ me ha mostrado el Señor Jehová: y he aquí, él criaba langostas al principio que comenzaba á crecer el heno tardío; y he aquí, era el heno tardío después de las siegas del rey.
2Y acaeció que como acabó de comer la hierba de la tierra, yo dije: Señor Jehová, perdona ahora; ¿quién levantará á Jacob? porque es pequeño.
3Arrepintióse Jehová de esto: No será, dijo Jehová.
4El Señor Jehová me mostró así: y he aquí, llamaba para juzgar por fuego el Señor Jehová; y consumió un gran abismo, y consumió una parte de la tierra.
5Y dije: Señor Jehová, cesa ahora; ¿quién levantará á Jacob? porque es pequeño.
6Arrepintióse Jehová de esto: No será esto tampoco, dijo el Señor Jehová.
7Enseñóme así: he aquí, el Señor estaba sobre un muro hecho á plomo, y en su mano una plomada de albañil.
8Jehová entonces me dijo: ¿Qué ves, Amós? Y dije: Una plomada de albañil. Y el Señor dijo: He aquí, yo pongo plomada de albañil en medio de mi pueblo Israel: no le pasaré más:
9Y los altares de Isaac serán destruídos, y los santuarios de Israel serán asolados; y levantaréme con espada sobre la casa de Jeroboam.
10Entonces Amasías sacerdote de Beth-el envió á decir á Jeroboam, rey de Israel: Amós se ha conjurado contra ti en medio de la casa de Israel: la tierra no puede sufrir todas sus palabras.
11Porque así ha dicho Amós: Jeroboam morirá á cuchillo, é Israel pasará de su tierra en cautiverio.
12Y Amasías dijo á Amós: Vidente, vete, y huye á tierra de Judá, y come allá tu pan, y profetiza allí:
13Y no profetices más en Beth-el, porque es santuario del rey, y cabecera del reino.
14Entonces respondió Amós, y dijo á Amasías: No soy profeta, ni soy hijo de profeta, sino que soy boyero, y cogedor de cabrahigos:
15Y Jehová me tomó de tras el ganado, y díjome Jehová: Ve, y profetiza á mi pueblo Israel.
16Ahora pues, oye palabra de Jehová. Tú dices: No profetices contra Israel, ni hables contra la casa de Isaac:
17Por tanto, así ha dicho Jehová: Tu mujer fornicará en la ciudad, y tus hijos y tus hijas caerán á cuchillo, y tu tierra será partida por suertes; y tú morirás en tierra inmunda, é Israel será traspasado de su tierra.

1Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me; and, behold, he formed grasshoppers in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king’s mowings.
2And it came to pass, that when they had made an end of eating the grass of the land, then I said, O Lord GOD, forgive, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.
3The LORD repented for this: It shall not be, saith the LORD.
4Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me: and, behold, the Lord GOD called to contend by fire, and it devoured the great deep, and did eat up a part.
5Then said I, O Lord GOD, cease, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.
6The LORD repented for this: This also shall not be, saith the Lord GOD.
7Thus he shewed me: and, behold, the Lord stood upon a wall made by a plumbline, with a plumbline in his hand.
8And the LORD said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more:
9And the high places of Isaac shall be desolate, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword.
10Then Amaziah the priest of Beth-el sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words.
11For thus Amos saith, Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of their own land.
12Also Amaziah said unto Amos, O thou seer, go, flee thee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there:
13But prophesy not again any more at Beth-el: for it is the king’s chapel, and it is the king’s court.
14Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet’s son; but I was an herdman, and a gatherer of sycomore fruit:
15And the LORD took me as I followed the flock, and the LORD said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel.
16Now therefore hear thou the word of the LORD: Thou sayest, Prophesy not against Israel, and drop not thy word against the house of Isaac.
17Therefore thus saith the LORD; Thy wife shall be an harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou shalt die in a polluted land: and Israel shall surely go into captivity forth of his land.

2When they finished eating the grass of the land, then I said, “Lord GOD, forgive, I beg you! How could Jacob stand? For he is small.”
3The LORD relented concerning this. “It shall not be,” says the LORD.
4Thus the Lord GOD showed me: behold, the Lord GOD called for judgment by fire; and it dried up the great deep, and would have devoured the land.
5Then I said, “Lord GOD, stop, I beg you! How could Jacob stand? For he is small.”
6The LORD relented concerning this. “This also shall not be,” says the Lord GOD.
7Thus he showed me: behold, the Lord stood beside a wall made by a plumb line, with a plumb line in his hand.
8The LORD said to me, “Amos, what do you see?” I said, “A plumb line.” Then the Lord said, “Behold, I will set a plumb line in the middle of my people Israel. I will not again pass by them any more.
9The high places of Isaac will be desolate, the sanctuaries of Israel will be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword.”
10Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, “Amos has conspired against you in the middle of the house of Israel. The land is not able to bear all his words.

12Amaziah also said to Amos, “You seer, go, flee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there,
13but don’t prophesy again any more at Bethel; for it is the king’s sanctuary, and it is a royal house!”
14Then Amos answered Amaziah, “I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet’s son, but I was a herdsman, and a farmer of sycamore figs;
15and the LORD took me from following the flock, and the LORD said to me, ‘Go, prophesy to my people Israel.’
16Now therefore listen to the LORD’s word: ‘You say, Don’t prophesy against Israel, and don’t preach against the house of Isaac.’
17Therefore the LORD says: ‘Your wife shall be a prostitute in the city, and your sons and your daughters shall fall by the sword, and your land shall be divided by line; and you yourself shall die in a land that is unclean, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of his land.’”
