1Ich lasse euch aber wissen, welch einen Kampf ich habe um euch und um die zu Laodizea und alle, die meine Person im Fleisch nicht gesehen haben,
2auf daß ihre Herzen ermahnt und zusammengefaßt werden in der Liebe und zu allem Reichtum des gewissen Verständnisses, zu erkennen das Geheimnis Gottes, des Vaters und Christi,
3in welchem verborgen liegen alle Schätze der Weisheit und der Erkenntnis.
4Ich sage aber davon, auf daß euch niemand betrüge mit unvernünftigen Reden.
5Denn ob ich wohl nach dem Fleisch nicht da bin, so bin ich doch im Geist bei euch, freue mich und sehe eure Ordnung und euren festen Glauben an Christum.
6Wie ihr nun angenommen habt den HERRN Christus Jesus, so wandelt in ihm
7und seid gewurzelt und erbaut in ihm und fest im Glauben, wie ihr gelehrt seid, und seid in demselben reichlich dankbar.
8Sehet zu, daß euch niemand beraube durch die Philosophie und lose Verführung nach der Menschen Lehre und nach der Welt Satzungen, und nicht nach Christo.
9Denn in ihm wohnt die ganze Fülle der Gottheit leibhaftig,
10und ihr seid vollkommen in ihm, welcher ist das Haupt aller Fürstentümer und Obrigkeiten;
11in welchem ihr auch beschnitten seid mit der Beschneidung ohne Hände, durch Ablegung des sündlichen Leibes im Fleisch, nämlich mit der Beschneidung Christi,
12indem ihr mit ihm begraben seid durch die Taufe; in welchem ihr auch seid auferstanden durch den Glauben, den Gott wirkt, welcher ihn auferweckt hat von den Toten.
13Und er hat euch auch mit ihm lebendig gemacht, da ihr tot waret in den Sünden und in eurem unbeschnittenen Fleisch; und hat uns geschenkt alle Sünden
14und ausgetilgt die Handschrift, so wider uns war, welche durch Satzungen entstand und uns entgegen war, und hat sie aus dem Mittel getan und an das Kreuz geheftet;
15und hat ausgezogen die Fürstentümer und die Gewaltigen und sie schaugetragen öffentlich und einen Triumph aus ihnen gemacht durch sich selbst.
16So lasset nun niemand euch Gewissen machen über Speise oder über Trank oder über bestimmte Feiertage oder Neumonde oder Sabbate;
17welches ist der Schatten von dem, das zukünftig war; aber der Körper selbst ist in Christo.
18Laßt euch niemand das Ziel verrücken, der nach eigener Wahl einhergeht in Demut und Geistlichkeit der Engel, davon er nie etwas gesehen hat, und ist ohne Ursache aufgeblasen in seinem fleischlichen Sinn
19und hält sich nicht an dem Haupt, aus welchem der ganze Leib durch Gelenke und Fugen Handreichung empfängt und zusammengehalten wird und also wächst zur göttlichen Größe.
20So ihr denn nun abgestorben seid mit Christo den Satzungen der Welt, was lasset ihr euch denn fangen mit Satzungen, als lebtet ihr noch in der Welt?
21“Du sollst”, sagen sie, “das nicht angreifen, du sollst das nicht kosten, du sollst das nicht anrühren”,
22was sich doch alles unter den Händen verzehrt; es sind der Menschen Gebote und Lehren,
23welche haben einen Schein der Weisheit durch selbst erwählte Geistlichkeit und Demut und dadurch, daß sie des Leibes nicht schonen und dem Fleisch nicht seine Ehre tun zu seiner Notdurft.

1PORQUE quiero que sepáis cuán gran solicitud tengo por vosotros, y por los que están en Laodicea, y por todos los que nunca vieron mi rostro en carne;
2Para que sean confortados sus corazones, unidos en amor, y en todas riquezas de cumplido entendimiento para conocer el misterio de Dios, y del Padre, y de Cristo;
3En el cual están escondidos todos los tesoros de sabiduría y conocimiento.
4Y esto digo, para que nadie os engañe con palabras persuasivas.
5Porque aunque estoy ausente con el cuerpo, no obstante con el espíritu estoy con vosotros, gozándome y mirando vuestro concierto, y la firmeza de vuestra fe en Cristo.
6Por tanto, de la manera que habéis recibido al Señor Jesucristo, andad en él:
7Arraigados y sobreedificados en él, y confirmados en la fe, así como habéis aprendido, creciendo en ella con hacimiento de gracias.
8Mirad que ninguno os engañe por filosofías y vanas sutilezas, según las tradiciones de los hombres, conforme á los elementos del mundo, y no según Cristo:
9Porque en él habita toda la plenitud de la divinidad corporalmente:
10Y en él estáis cumplidos, el cual es la cabeza de todo principado y potestad:
11En el cual también sois circuncidados de circuncisión no hecha con manos, con el despojamiento del cuerpo de los pecados de la carne, en la circuncisión de Cristo;
12Sepultados juntamente con él en el bautismo, en el cual también resucitasteis con él, por la fe de la operación de Dios que le levantó de los muertos.
13Y á vosotros, estando muertos en pecados y en la incircuncisión de vuestra carne, os vivificó juntamente con él, perdonándoos todos los pecados,
14Rayendo la cédula de los ritos que nos era contraria, que era contra nosotros, quitándola de en medio y enclavándola en la cruz;
15Y despojando los principados y las potestades, sacólos á la vergüenza en público, triunfando de ellos en sí mismo.
16Por tanto, nadie os juzgue en comida, ó en bebida, ó en parte de día de fiesta, ó de nueva luna, ó de sábados:
17Lo cual es la sombra de lo por venir; mas el cuerpo es de Cristo.
18Nadie os prive de vuestro premio, afectando humildad y culto á los ángeles, metiéndose en lo que no ha visto, vanamente hinchado en el sentido de su propia carne,
19Y no teniendo la cabeza, de la cual todo el cuerpo, alimentado y conjunto por las ligaduras y conjunturas, crece en aumento de Dios.
20Pues si sois muertos con Cristo cuanto á los rudimentos del mundo, ¿por qué como si vivieseis al mundo, os sometéis á ordenanzas,
21Tales como, No manejes, ni gustes, ni aun toques,
22(Las cuales cosas son todas para destrucción en el uso mismo), en conformidad á mandamientos y doctrinas de hombres?
23Tales cosas tienen á la verdad cierta reputación de sabiduría en culto voluntario, y humildad, y en duro trato del cuerpo; no en alguna honra para el saciar de la carne.

1For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;
2That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;
3In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
4And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.
5For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.
6As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
7Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
8Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
9For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
10And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
11In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
12Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
13And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
14Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
15And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
16Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
17Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
18Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,
19And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.
20Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,
21(Touch not; taste not; handle not;
22Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?
23Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.
World English Bible
1For I desire to have you know how greatly I struggle for you and for those at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;
2that their hearts may be comforted, they being knit together in love, and gaining all riches of the full assurance of understanding, that they may know the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ,
3in whom all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden.
4Now I say this that no one may delude you with persuasiveness of speech.
5For though I am absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in the spirit, rejoicing and seeing your order, and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ.
6As therefore you received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in him,
7rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, even as you were taught, abounding in it in thanksgiving.
8Be careful that you don’t let anyone rob you through his philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the elemental spirits of the world, and not after Christ.
9For in him all the fullness of the Deity dwells bodily,
10and in him you are made full, who is the head of all principality and power.
11In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not made with hands, in the putting off of the body of the sins of the flesh, in the circumcision of Christ,
12having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.
13You were dead through your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh. He made you alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses,
14wiping out the handwriting in ordinances which was against us. He has taken it out of the way, nailing it to the cross.
15Having stripped the principalities and the powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
16Let no one therefore judge you in eating or drinking, or with respect to a feast day or a new moon or a Sabbath day,
17which are a shadow of the things to come; but the body is Christ’s.
18Let no one rob you of your prize by self-abasement and worshiping of the angels, dwelling in the things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,
19and not holding firmly to the Head, from whom all the body, being supplied and knit together through the joints and ligaments, grows with God’s growth.
20If you died with Christ from the elemental spirits of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to ordinances,
21“Don’t handle, nor taste, nor touch”
22(all of which perish with use), according to the precepts and doctrines of men?
23These things indeed appear like wisdom in self-imposed worship, humility, and severity to the body, but aren’t of any value against the indulgence of the flesh.
