Porque deseo que sepáis las inquietudes que padezco por vosotros, y por los de Laodicea, y aun por aquellos fieles que todavía no me conocen de vista,

y no estando unido con la cabeza, que es Jesucristo, de la cual todo el cuerpo alimentado y organizado por medio de los nervios y junturas va creciendo por el aumento que es de Dios.

No comáis, se os dice, ni gustéis, ni toquéis esto o aquello;
Tales como, No manejes, ni gustes, ni aun toques,
(Touch not; taste not; handle not;
“Don’t handle, nor taste, nor touch”
no obstante que todas estas cosas, prescritas por ordenanzas y doctrinas humanas, son tales que se destruyen con el uso mismo que de ellas se hace.
(Las cuales cosas son todas para destrucción en el uso mismo), en conformidad á mandamientos y doctrinas de hombres?
Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?
(all of which perish with use), according to the precepts and doctrines of men?
Pero en ellas hay verdaderamente una especie de sabiduría cristiana en su observancia libre y acompañada de humildad, y en castigar al cuerpo y no contemplar nuestra carne.
Tales cosas tienen á la verdad cierta reputación de sabiduría en culto voluntario, y humildad, y en duro trato del cuerpo; no en alguna honra para el saciar de la carne.
Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.
These things indeed appear like wisdom in self-imposed worship, humility, and severity to the body, but aren’t of any value against the indulgence of the flesh.
