1En el tercer año del reinado de Ciro, rey de Persia, Daniel, a quien llamaban Beltsasar, recibió una revelación. El mensaje era verdadero y anunciaba una gran guerra. Daniel comprendió el mensaje y entendió la visión.
2En aquellos días yo, Daniel, estuve de luto durante tres semanas enteras.
3No comí manjares delicados, ni probé carne ni vino, ni usé ningún perfume, hasta que se cumplieron las tres semanas.
4El día veinticuatro del primer mes, mientras yo estaba a la orilla del gran río, que es el Hidéquel,
5levanté los ojos y vi a un hombre vestido de lino, que llevaba un cinturón de oro puro de Ufaz.
6Su cuerpo brillaba como el topacio, su rostro resplandecía como un relámpago y sus ojos parecían antorchas encendidas. Sus brazos y sus pies brillaban como el bronce pulido, y el sonido de su voz era como el estruendo de una multitud.
7Solo yo, Daniel, tuve esta visión. Los hombres que estaban conmigo no la vieron, pero se apoderó de ellos un terror tan grande que huyeron a esconderse.
8Así que me quedé solo, contemplando esta gran visión. Me quedé sin fuerzas, palidecí como un muerto y me sentí totalmente débil.
9Sin embargo, pude oír su voz. Y al escuchar sus palabras, caí en un sueño profundo, con el rostro pegado al suelo.
10De pronto, una mano me tocó y me hizo levantarme, apoyado sobre mis rodillas y las palmas de mis manos.
11Y me dijo: “Daniel, hombre muy amado, presta atención a las palabras que te voy a decir y ponte de pie, porque he sido enviado a ti en este momento”. Mientras me decía esto, me puse de pie, temblando.
12Entonces me dijo: “No tengas miedo, Daniel. Desde el primer día que te propusiste entender estas cosas y humillarte ante tu Dios, tus oraciones fueron escuchadas. Y yo he venido en respuesta a tus palabras.
13Sin embargo, el príncipe del reino de Persia se me opuso durante veintiún días, hasta que Miguel, uno de los príncipes más importantes, vino a ayudarme, porque yo me había quedado allí con los reyes de Persia.
14Ahora he venido a explicarte lo que le sucederá a tu pueblo en los últimos días, porque la visión se refiere a un tiempo que aún está por venir”.
15Mientras me decía estas palabras, bajé la mirada al suelo y me quedé sin poder hablar.
16Entonces alguien que tenía aspecto humano me tocó los labios. Abrí la boca y le dije al que estaba de pie frente a mí: “Señor mío, la visión me ha causado mucha angustia y me he quedado sin fuerzas.
17¿Cómo puede este siervo suyo hablar con usted, mi señor? Me he quedado completamente sin fuerzas y apenas puedo respirar”.
18Entonces el que tenía aspecto humano volvió a tocarme y me dio fuerzas.
19Me dijo: “Hombre muy amado, no tengas miedo. ¡Que la paz sea contigo! ¡Sé fuerte y valiente!”. Mientras me hablaba, sentí que recuperaba las fuerzas, y le dije: “Hable usted, mi señor, porque me ha dado nuevas fuerzas”.
20Y él me preguntó: “¿Sabes por qué he venido a verte? Ahora debo regresar para luchar contra el príncipe de Persia. Y cuando termine, vendrá el príncipe de Grecia.
21Pero te diré lo que está escrito en el libro de la verdad. En esta lucha nadie me ayuda, excepto Miguel, el príncipe de ustedes”.

1EN el tercer año de Ciro rey de Persia, fué revelada palabra á Daniel, cuyo nombre era Beltsasar; y la palabra era verdadera, mas el tiempo fijado era largo: él empero comprendió la palabra, y tuvo inteligencia en la visión.
2En aquellos días yo Daniel me contristé por espacio de tres semanas.
3No comí pan delicado, ni entró carne ni vino en mi boca, ni me unté con ungüento, hasta que se cumplieron tres semanas de días.
4Y á los veinte y cuatro días del mes primero estaba yo á la orilla del gran río Hiddekel;
5Y alzando mis ojos miré, y he aquí un varón vestido de lienzos, y ceñidos sus lomos de oro de Uphaz:
6Y su cuerpo era como piedra de Tarsis, y su rostro parecía un relámpago, y sus ojos como antorchas de fuego, y sus brazos y sus pies como de color de metal resplandeciente, y la voz de sus palabras como la voz de ejército.
7Y sólo yo, Daniel, vi aquella visión, y no la vieron los hombres que estaban conmigo; sino que cayó sobre ellos un gran temor, y huyeron, y escondiéronse.
8Quedé pues yo solo, y vi esta gran visión, y no quedó en mí esfuerzo; antes mi fuerza se me trocó en desmayo, sin retener vigor alguno.
9Empero oí la voz de sus palabras: y oyendo la voz de sus palabras, estaba yo adormecido sobre mi rostro, y mi rostro en tierra.
10Y, he aquí, una mano me tocó, é hizo que me moviese sobre mis rodillas, y sobre las palmas de mis manos.
11Y díjome: Daniel, varón de deseos, está atento á las palabras que te hablaré, y levántate sobre tus pies; porque á ti he sido enviado ahora. Y estando hablando conmigo esto, yo estaba temblando.
12Y díjome: Daniel, no temas: porque desde el primer día que diste tu corazón á entender, y á afligirte en la presencia de tu Dios, fueron oídas tus palabras; y á causa de tus palabras yo soy venido.
13Mas el príncipe del reino de Persia se puso contra mí veintiún días: y he aquí, Miguel, uno de los principales príncipes, vino para ayudarme, y yo quedé allí con los reyes de Persia.
14Soy pues venido para hacerte saber lo que ha de venir á tu pueblo en los postreros días; porque la visión es aún para días.
15Y estando hablando conmigo semejantes palabras, puse mis ojos en tierra, y enmudecí.
16Mas he aquí, como una semejanza de hijo de hombre tocó mis labios. Entonces abrí mi boca, y hablé, y dije á aquel que estaba delante de mí: Señor mío, con la visión se revolvieron mis dolores sobre mí, y no me quedó fuerza.
17¿Cómo pues podrá el siervo de mi señor hablar con este mi señor? porque al instante me faltó la fuerza, y no me ha quedado aliento.
18Y aquella como semejanza de hombre me tocó otra vez, y me confortó;
19Y díjome: Varón de deseos, no temas: paz á ti; ten buen ánimo, y aliéntate. Y hablando él conmigo cobré yo vigor, y dije: Hable mi señor, porque me has fortalecido.
20Y dijo: ¿Sabes por qué he venido á ti? Porque luego tengo de volver para pelear con el príncipe de los Persas; y en saliendo yo, luego viene el príncipe de Grecia.
21Empero yo te declararé lo que está escrito en la escritura de verdad: y ninguno hay que se esfuerce conmigo en estas cosas, sino Miguel vuestro príncipe.

1In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, but the time appointed was long: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision.
2In those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks.
3I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.
4And in the four and twentieth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which is Hiddekel;
5Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz:
6His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.
7And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw not the vision; but a great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves.
8Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength.
9Yet heard I the voice of his words: and when I heard the voice of his words, then was I in a deep sleep on my face, and my face toward the ground.
10And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands.
11And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling.
12Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.
13But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.
14Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days.
15And when he had spoken such words unto me, I set my face toward the ground, and I became dumb.
16And, behold, one like the similitude of the sons of men touched my lips: then I opened my mouth, and spake, and said unto him that stood before me, O my lord, by the vision my sorrows are turned upon me, and I have retained no strength.
17For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me, straightway there remained no strength in me, neither is there breath left in me.
18Then there came again and touched me one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me,
19And said, O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong. And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said, Let my lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me.
20Then said he, Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia: and when I am gone forth, lo, the prince of Grecia shall come.
21But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince.
World English Bible
1In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a message was revealed to Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the message was true, even a great warfare. He understood the message, and had understanding of the vision.
2In those days I, Daniel, was mourning three whole weeks.
3I ate no pleasant food. No meat or wine came into my mouth. I didn’t anoint myself at all, until three whole weeks were fulfilled.
4In the twenty-fourth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which is Hiddekel,
5I lifted up my eyes and looked, and behold, there was a man clothed in linen, whose waist was adorned with pure gold of Uphaz.
6His body also was like beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as flaming torches. His arms and his feet were like burnished bronze. The voice of his words was like the voice of a multitude.
7I, Daniel, alone saw the vision, for the men who were with me didn’t see the vision, but a great quaking fell on them, and they fled to hide themselves.
8So I was left alone and saw this great vision. No strength remained in me; for my face grew deathly pale, and I retained no strength.
9Yet I heard the voice of his words. When I heard the voice of his words, then I fell into a deep sleep on my face, with my face toward the ground.
10Behold, a hand touched me, which set me on my knees and on the palms of my hands.
11He said to me, “Daniel, you greatly beloved man, understand the words that I speak to you, and stand upright, for I have been sent to you, now.” When he had spoken this word to me, I stood trembling.
12Then he said to me, “Don’t be afraid, Daniel; for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard. I have come for your words’ sake.
13But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; but, behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me because I remained there with the kings of Persia.
14Now I have come to make you understand what will happen to your people in the latter days, for the vision is yet for many days.”
15When he had spoken these words to me, I set my face toward the ground and was mute.
16Behold, one in the likeness of the sons of men touched my lips. Then I opened my mouth, and spoke and said to him who stood before me, “My lord, by reason of the vision my sorrows have overtaken me, and I retain no strength.
17For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord? For as for me, immediately there remained no strength in me. There was no breath left in me.”
18Then one like the appearance of a man touched me again, and he strengthened me.
19He said, “Greatly beloved man, don’t be afraid. Peace be to you. Be strong. Yes, be strong.” When he spoke to me, I was strengthened, and said, “Let my lord speak, for you have strengthened me.”
20Then he said, “Do you know why I have come to you? Now I will return to fight with the prince of Persia. When I go out, behold, the prince of Greece will come.
21But I will tell you that which is inscribed in the writing of truth. There is no one who holds with me against these but Michael your prince.
