Daniel 1

La troisième année du règne de Jehoïakim, roi de Juda, Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone, vint à Jérusalem et l’assiégea ;

EN el año tercero del reinado de Joacim rey de Judá, vino Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia á Jerusalem, y cercóla.

In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon unto Jerusalem, and besieged it.

et le Seigneur livra en sa main Jehoïakim, roi de Juda, et une partie des ustensiles de la maison de Dieu, et il les fit apporter dans le pays de Shinhar, dans la maison de son dieu : il fit porter les ustensiles dans la maison du trésor de son dieu.

Y el Señor entregó en sus manos á Joacim rey de Judá, y parte de los vasos de la casa de Dios, y trájolos á tierra de Sinar, á la casa de su dios: y metió los vasos en la casa del tesoro de su dios.

And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God: which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god.

Et le roi dit à Ashpenaz, chef de ses eunuques, d’amener d’entre les fils d’Israël, et de la semence royale et d’entre les nobles,

Y dijo el rey á Aspenaz, príncipe de sus eunucos, que trajese de los hijos de Israel, del linaje real de los príncipes,

And the king spake unto Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring certain of the children of Israel, and of the king’s seed, and of the princes;

The king spoke to Ashpenaz, the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring in some of the children of Israel, even of the royal offspring and of the nobles:

des jeunes gens en qui il n’y ait aucun défaut, et beaux de visage, et instruits en toute sagesse, et possédant des connaissances, et entendus en science, et qui soient capables de se tenir dans le palais du roi, – et de leur enseigner les lettres et la langue des Chaldéens.

Muchachos en quienes no hubiese tacha alguna, y de buen parecer, y enseñados en toda sabiduría, y sabios en ciencia, y de buen entendimiento, é idóneos para estar en el palacio del rey; y que les enseñase las letras y la lengua de los Caldeos.

Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king’s palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.

youths in whom was no defect, but well-favored, skillful in all wisdom, endowed with knowledge, understanding science, and who had the ability to stand in the king’s palace; and that he should teach them the learning and the language of the Chaldeans.

Et le roi leur assigna, pour chaque jour, une portion fixe des mets délicats du roi et du vin qu’il buvait, pour les élever pendant trois ans, à la fin desquels ils se tiendraient devant le roi.

Y señalóles el rey ración para cada día de la ración de la comida del rey, y del vino de su beber: que los criase tres años, para que al fin de ellos estuviesen delante del rey.

And the king appointed them a daily provision of the king’s meat, and of the wine which he drank: so nourishing them three years, that at the end thereof they might stand before the king.

Et parmi eux il y avait, d’entre les fils de Juda, Daniel, Hanania, Mishaël, et Azaria ;

Y fueron entre ellos, de los hijos de Judá, Daniel, Ananías, Misael y Azarías:

Now among these were of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah:

Now among these of the children of Judah were Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah.

et le prince des eunuques leur donna des noms : à Daniel il donna †le nom de Belteshatsar, et à Hanania celui de Shadrac, et à Mishaël celui de Méshac, et à Azaria celui d’Abed-Nego.

A los cuales el príncipe de los eunucos puso nombres: y puso á Daniel, Beltsasar; y á Ananías, Sadrach; y á Misael, Mesach; y á Azarías, Abed-nego.

Unto whom the prince of the eunuchs gave names: for he gave unto Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to Azariah, of Abed-nego.

The prince of the eunuchs gave names to them: to Daniel he gave the name Belteshazzar; to Hananiah, Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abednego.

Et Daniel arrêta dans son cœur qu’il ne se souillerait point par les mets délicats du roi et par le vin qu’il buvait ; et il demanda au prince des eunuques †de lui permettre de ne pas se souiller.

Y Daniel propuso en su corazón de no contaminarse en la ración de la comida del rey, ni en el vino de su beber: pidió por tanto al príncipe de los eunucos de no contaminarse.

But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

Et Dieu fit trouver à Daniel faveur et grâce auprès du prince des eunuques.

(Y puso Dios á Daniel en gracia y en buena voluntad con el príncipe de los eunucos.)

Now God had brought Daniel into favour and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs.

Now God made Daniel find kindness and compassion in the sight of the prince of the eunuchs.

Et le prince des eunuques dit à Daniel : Je crains le roi mon seigneur, qui a prescrit votre nourriture et votre boisson ; car pourquoi verrait-il vos visages plus tristes que ceux des jeunes gens de votre âge ? Et vous exposeriez ma tête auprès du roi.

Y dijo el príncipe de los eunucos á Daniel: Tengo temor de mi señor el rey, que señaló vuestra comida y vuestra bebida; pues luego que él habrá visto vuestros rostros más tristes que los de los muchachos que son semejantes á vosotros, condenaréis para con el rey mi cabeza.

And the prince of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who hath appointed your meat and your drink: for why should he see your faces worse liking than the children which are of your sort? then shall ye make me endanger my head to the king.

The prince of the eunuchs said to Daniel, “I fear my lord the king, who has appointed your food and your drink. For why should he see your faces worse looking than the youths who are of your own age? Then you would endanger my head with the king.”

Et Daniel dit à l’intendant que le prince des eunuques avait établi sur Daniel, Hanania, Mishaël et Azaria :

Entonces dijo Daniel á Melsar, que estaba puesto por el príncipe de los eunucos sobre Daniel, Ananías, Misael, y Azarías:

Then said Daniel to Melzar, whom the prince of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah,

Then Daniel said to the steward whom the prince of the eunuchs had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah:

Éprouve, je te prie, tes serviteurs dix jours, et qu’on nous donne des légumes à manger, et de l’eau à boire ;

Prueba, te ruego, tus siervos diez días, y dennos legumbres á comer, y agua á beber.

Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink.

“Test your servants, I beg you, ten days; and let them give us vegetables to eat and water to drink.

et on regardera, en ta présence, nos visages et le visage des jeunes gens qui mangent les mets délicats du roi ; et tu agiras avec tes serviteurs d’après ce que tu verras.

Parezcan luego delante de ti nuestros rostros, y los rostros de los muchachos que comen de la ración de la comida del rey; y según que vieres, harás con tus siervos.

Then let our countenances be looked upon before thee, and the countenance of the children that eat of the portion of the king’s meat: and as thou seest, deal with thy servants.

Then let our faces be examined before you, and the face of the youths who eat of the king’s delicacies; and as you see, deal with your servants.”

Et il les écouta dans cette affaire, et les mit à l’épreuve, dix jours ;

Consintió pues con ellos en esto, y probó con ellos diez días.

So he consented to them in this matter, and proved them ten days.

So he listened to them in this matter, and tested them for ten days.

et, au bout de dix jours, leurs visages avaient meilleure apparence et étaient plus gras que ceux de tous les jeunes gens qui mangeaient les mets délicats du roi.

Y al cabo de los diez días pareció el rostro de ellos mejor y más nutrido de carne, que los otros muchachos que comían de la ración de la comida del rey.

And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king’s meat.

At the end of ten days, their faces appeared fairer and they were fatter in flesh than all the youths who ate of the king’s delicacies.

Alors l’intendant ôta leurs mets délicats et le vin de leur boisson, et leur donna des légumes.

Así fué que Melsar tomaba la ración de la comida de ellos, y el vino de su beber, y dábales legumbres.

Thus Melzar took away the portion of their meat, and the wine that they should drink; and gave them pulse.

So the steward took away their delicacies and the wine that they were given to drink, and gave them vegetables.

Et à ces jeunes gens, aux quatre, Dieu donna de la science et de l’instruction dans toutes les lettres et dans toute la sagesse ; et Daniel avait de l’intelligence en toute vision et dans les songes.

Y á estos cuatro muchachos dióles Dios conocimiento é inteligencia en todas letras y ciencia: mas Daniel tuvo entendimiento en toda visión y sueños.

As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.

Et, à la fin des jours où le roi avait dit de les amener, le prince des eunuques les amena devant Nebucadnetsar ;

Pasados pues los días al fin de los cuales había dicho el rey que los trajesen, el príncipe de los eunucos los trajo delante de Nabucodonosor.

Now at the end of the days that the king had said he should bring them in, then the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.

At the end of the days which the king had appointed for bringing them in, the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.

et le roi parla avec eux, et entre eux tous il n’en fut trouvé aucun comme Daniel, Hanania, Mishaël et Azaria ; et ils se tinrent devant le roi.

Y el rey habló con ellos, y no fué hallado entre todos ellos otro como Daniel, Ananías, Misael, y Azarías: y así estuvieron delante del rey.

And the king communed with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before the king.

The king talked with them; and among them all was found no one like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. Therefore they stood before the king.

Et dans toutes les choses qui réclamaient de la sagesse et de l’intelligence, au sujet desquelles le roi les interrogea, il les trouva dix fois supérieurs à tous les devins †et enchanteurs qui étaient dans tout son royaume.

Y en todo negocio de sabiduría é inteligencia que el rey les demandó, hallólos diez veces mejores que todos los magos y astrólogos que había en todo su reino.

And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm.

In every matter of wisdom and understanding concerning which the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters who were in all his realm.

Et Daniel fut là jusqu’à la première année du roi Cyrus.

Y fué Daniel hasta el año primero del rey Ciro.

And Daniel continued even unto the first year of king Cyrus.
