Daniel 1

Dans la troisième année du règne de Joïakim, roi de Juda, Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, marcha contre Jérusalem et l'assiégea.

EN el año tercero del reinado de Joacim rey de Judá, vino Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia á Jerusalem, y cercóla.

In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon unto Jerusalem, and besieged it.

Le Seigneur livra en son pouvoir Joïakim, roi de Juda, et une partie des vases de la maison de Dieu, qu'il transporta au pays de Sennaar, dans le temple de sa divinité; c'est dans le trésor de son dieu qu'il déposa ces vases.

Y el Señor entregó en sus manos á Joacim rey de Judá, y parte de los vasos de la casa de Dios, y trájolos á tierra de Sinar, á la casa de su dios: y metió los vasos en la casa del tesoro de su dios.

And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God: which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god.

Le roi ordonna à Achpenaz, chef de ses eunuques, d'amener, d'entre les enfants d'Israël, issus de la lignée royale et des familles nobles,

Y dijo el rey á Aspenaz, príncipe de sus eunucos, que trajese de los hijos de Israel, del linaje real de los príncipes,

And the king spake unto Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring certain of the children of Israel, and of the king’s seed, and of the princes;

The king spoke to Ashpenaz, the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring in some of the children of Israel, even of the royal offspring and of the nobles:

des jeunes gens, exempts de tout défaut corporel, beaux de figure, initiés à toute sagesse, doués d'intelligence, versés dans les connaissances et qui pourraient être admis dans le palais du roi, et de leur enseigner l'écriture et la langue des Chaldéens.

Muchachos en quienes no hubiese tacha alguna, y de buen parecer, y enseñados en toda sabiduría, y sabios en ciencia, y de buen entendimiento, é idóneos para estar en el palacio del rey; y que les enseñase las letras y la lengua de los Caldeos.

Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king’s palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.

Le roi leur assigna pour leur entretien journalier des plats de la table royale et du vin qui lui servait de boisson, de façon à les éduquer durant trois années, puis à en attacher quelques-uns au service du roi.

Y señalóles el rey ración para cada día de la ración de la comida del rey, y del vino de su beber: que los criase tres años, para que al fin de ellos estuviesen delante del rey.

And the king appointed them a daily provision of the king’s meat, and of the wine which he drank: so nourishing them three years, that at the end thereof they might stand before the king.

Au nombre des enfants de Juda qui se trouvaient parmi eux figuraient Daniel, Hanania, Misaël et Azaria.

Y fueron entre ellos, de los hijos de Judá, Daniel, Ananías, Misael y Azarías:

Le chef des eunuques leur attribua de †nouveaux noms; il appela Daniel Beltchaçar, Hanania Chadrac, Misaël Mêchac et Azaria Abêd-Nego.

A los cuales el príncipe de los eunucos puso nombres: y puso á Daniel, Beltsasar; y á Ananías, Sadrach; y á Misael, Mesach; y á Azarías, Abed-nego.

Unto whom the prince of the eunuchs gave names: for he gave unto Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to Azariah, of Abed-nego.

The prince of the eunuchs gave names to them: to Daniel he gave the name Belteshazzar; to Hananiah, Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abednego.

Or Daniel prit la résolution de ne pas se souiller par les plats du roi et le vin qui lui servait de boisson; il insista donc auprès du chef des eunuques pour n'avoir pas à se souiller.

Y Daniel propuso en su corazón de no contaminarse en la ración de la comida del rey, ni en el vino de su beber: pidió por tanto al príncipe de los eunucos de no contaminarse.

But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

Dieu fit trouver à Daniel grâce et mansuétude auprès du chef des eunuques.

Now God had brought Daniel into favour and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs.

Now God made Daniel find kindness and compassion in the sight of the prince of the eunuchs.

Le chef des eunuques dit à Daniel: "Je redoute le roi, mon maître, qui a réglé votre nourriture et votre boisson car s'il devait trouver votre mine plus chétive que celle des autres jeunes gens dans votre condition, vous m'en feriez responsable sur ma tête aux yeux du roi."

Y dijo el príncipe de los eunucos á Daniel: Tengo temor de mi señor el rey, que señaló vuestra comida y vuestra bebida; pues luego que él habrá visto vuestros rostros más tristes que los de los muchachos que son semejantes á vosotros, condenaréis para con el rey mi cabeza.

And the prince of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who hath appointed your meat and your drink: for why should he see your faces worse liking than the children which are of your sort? then shall ye make me endanger my head to the king.

The prince of the eunuchs said to Daniel, “I fear my lord the king, who has appointed your food and your drink. For why should he see your faces worse looking than the youths who are of your own age? Then you would endanger my head with the king.”

Daniel répliqua au gouverneur que le chef des eunuques avait préposé à Daniel, Hanania, Misaël et Azaria:

Entonces dijo Daniel á Melsar, que estaba puesto por el príncipe de los eunucos sobre Daniel, Ananías, Misael, y Azarías:

Then said Daniel to Melzar, whom the prince of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah,

"De grâce, mets tes serviteurs à l'épreuve pendant une dizaine de jours: qu'on ne nous donne que des légumes secs à manger et de l'eau à boire.

Prueba, te ruego, tus siervos diez días, y dennos legumbres á comer, y agua á beber.

Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink.

“Test your servants, I beg you, ten days; and let them give us vegetables to eat and water to drink.

Puis, tu examineras notre mine et la mine des jeunes gens nourris des mets du roi, et, selon ce que tu verras, tu agiras à l'égard de tes serviteurs."

Parezcan luego delante de ti nuestros rostros, y los rostros de los muchachos que comen de la ración de la comida del rey; y según que vieres, harás con tus siervos.

Then let our countenances be looked upon before thee, and the countenance of the children that eat of the portion of the king’s meat: and as thou seest, deal with thy servants.

Then let our faces be examined before you, and the face of the youths who eat of the king’s delicacies; and as you see, deal with your servants.”

II leur céda sur ce point et les mit à l'épreuve pendant dix jours.

Consintió pues con ellos en esto, y probó con ellos diez días.

So he consented to them in this matter, and proved them ten days.

So he listened to them in this matter, and tested them for ten days.

Au bout de ces dix jours, leur mine parut meilleure et leur embonpoint plus marqué que ceux de tous les jeunes gens nourris des mets du roi.

Y al cabo de los diez días pareció el rostro de ellos mejor y más nutrido de carne, que los otros muchachos que comían de la ración de la comida del rey.

And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king’s meat.

At the end of ten days, their faces appeared fairer and they were fatter in flesh than all the youths who ate of the king’s delicacies.

Dès lors, le gouverneur enlevait leurs plats et le vin qu'on leur servait à boire, et leur donnait des légumes secs.

Así fué que Melsar tomaba la ración de la comida de ellos, y el vino de su beber, y dábales legumbres.

Thus Melzar took away the portion of their meat, and the wine that they should drink; and gave them pulse.

So the steward took away their delicacies and the wine that they were given to drink, and gave them vegetables.

Et à ces jeunes gens, à tous les quatre, Dieu avait accordé le savoir et la faculté de comprendre toute écriture et toute science; quant à Daniel, il possédait l'intelligence de toute vision et des songes.

Y á estos cuatro muchachos dióles Dios conocimiento é inteligencia en todas letras y ciencia: mas Daniel tuvo entendimiento en toda visión y sueños.

As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.

Au terme du délai que le roi avait fixé pour les †lui amener, le chef des eunuques les introduisit auprès de Nabuchodonosor.

Pasados pues los días al fin de los cuales había dicho el rey que los trajesen, el príncipe de los eunucos los trajo delante de Nabucodonosor.

Now at the end of the days that the king had said he should bring them in, then the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.

At the end of the days which the king had appointed for bringing them in, the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.

Le roi s'entretint avec eux: parmi tous †les jeunes gens il ne s'en trouvait pas de comparables à Daniel, Hanania, Misaël et Azaria; ils furent donc attachés au service du roi.

Y el rey habló con ellos, y no fué hallado entre todos ellos otro como Daniel, Ananías, Misael, y Azarías: y así estuvieron delante del rey.

And the king communed with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before the king.

Et sur toute question d'ingénieuse sagesse que le roi leur posait, il les trouvait dix fois supérieurs à tous les devins et magiciens qui vivaient dans tout son royaume.

Y en todo negocio de sabiduría é inteligencia que el rey les demandó, hallólos diez veces mejores que todos los magos y astrólogos que había en todo su reino.

And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm.

In every matter of wisdom and understanding concerning which the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters who were in all his realm.

Daniel alla †ainsi jusqu'à la première année de Cyrus.

Y fué Daniel hasta el año primero del rey Ciro.
