*Le roi Belshatsar fit un grand festin à 1 000 de ses grands, et but du vin devant les 1 000.

EL rey Belsasar hizo un gran banquete á mil de sus príncipes, y en presencia de los mil bebía vino.

Belshatsar, comme il buvait le vin, commanda d’apporter les vases d’or et d’argent que son père Nebucadnetsar avait tirés du temple qui était à Jérusalem, afin que le roi et ses grands, ses femmes et ses concubines, y boivent.

Belsasar, con el gusto del vino, mandó que trajesen los vasos de oro y de plata que Nabucodonosor su padre había traído del templo de Jerusalem; para que bebiesen con ellos el rey y sus príncipes, sus mujeres y sus concubinas.

Belshazzar, whiles he tasted the wine, commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the temple which was in Jerusalem; that the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, might drink therein.

Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the temple of the house of God which was at Jerusalem; and the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, drank in them.

Ils burent du vin, et ils louèrent les dieux d’or et d’argent, d’airain, de fer, de bois, et de pierre.

They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.

En ce même moment, les doigts d’une main d’homme sortirent, et écrivirent, vis-à-vis du chandelier, sur le plâtre de la muraille du palais du roi ; et le roi vit l’extrémité de la main qui écrivait.

En aquella misma hora salieron unos dedos de mano de hombre, y escribían delante del candelero sobre lo encalado de la pared del palacio real, y el rey veía la palma de la mano que escribía.

In the same hour came forth fingers of a man’s hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaister of the wall of the king’s palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote.

Alors le roi changea de couleur, et ses pensées le troublèrent ; et les liens de ses reins se délièrent, et ses genoux se heurtèrent l’un contre l’autre.

Entonces el rey se demudó de su color, y sus pensamientos lo turbaron, y desatáronse las ceñiduras de sus lomos, y sus rodillas se batían la una con la otra.

Then the king’s countenance was changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his loins were loosed, and his knees smote one against another.

Le roi cria avec force d’amener les enchanteurs, les Chaldéens et les augures. Le roi prit la parole et dit aux sages de Babylone : Quiconque lira cette écriture et m’en indiquera l’interprétation sera revêtu de pourpre, et †aura une chaîne d’or autour de son cou, et sera le troisième gouverneur dans le royaume.

El rey clamó en alta voz que hiciesen venir magos, Caldeos, y adivinos. Habló el rey, y dijo á los sabios de Babilonia: Cualquiera que leyere esta escritura, y me mostrare su declaración, será vestido de púrpura, y tendrá collar de oro á su cuello; y en el reino se enseñoreará el tercero.

The king cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. And the king spake, and said to the wise men of Babylon, Whosoever shall read this writing, and shew me the interpretation thereof, shall be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.

The king spoke and said to the wise men of Babylon, “Whoever reads this writing and shows me its interpretation shall be clothed with purple, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.”

Alors arrivèrent tous les sages du roi, mais ils ne purent lire l’écriture ni faire connaître au roi l’interprétation.

Entonces fueron introducidos todos los sabios del rey, y no pudieron leer la escritura, ni mostrar al rey su declaración.

Then came in all the king’s wise men: but they could not read the writing, nor make known to the king the interpretation thereof.

Alors le roi Belshatsar fut extrêmement troublé, et il changea de couleur ; et ses grands furent bouleversés.

Entonces el rey Belsasar fué muy turbado, y se le mudaron sus colores y alteráronse sus príncipes.

Then was king Belshazzar greatly troubled, and his countenance was changed in him, and his lords were astonied.

La reine, à cause des paroles du roi et de ses grands, entra dans la maison du festin. La reine prit la parole et dit : Ô roi, vis à jamais ! Que tes pensées ne te troublent pas, et ne change pas de couleur :

La reina, por las palabras del rey y de sus príncipes, entró á la sala del banquete. Y habló la reina, y dijo: Rey, para siempre vive, no te asombren tus pensamientos, ni tus colores se demuden:

Now the queen, by reason of the words of the king and his lords, came into the banquet house: and the queen spake and said, O king, live for ever: let not thy thoughts trouble thee, nor let thy countenance be changed:

The queen by reason of the words of the king and his lords came into the banquet house. The queen spoke and said, “O king, live forever; don’t let your thoughts trouble you, nor let your face be changed.

il y a un homme dans ton royaume, en qui est l’esprit des dieux saints ; et, aux jours de ton père, de la lumière, et de l’intelligence, et une sagesse comme la sagesse des dieux, ont été trouvées en lui ; et le roi Nebucadnetsar, ton père, – ton père, ô roi, l’a établi chef des devins, des enchanteurs, des Chaldéens, des augures,

En tu reino hay un varón, en el cual mora el espíritu de los dioses santos; y en los días de tu padre se halló en él luz é inteligencia y sabiduría, como ciencia de los dioses: al cual el rey Nabucodonosor, tu padre, el rey tu padre constituyó príncipe sobre todos los magos, astrólogos, Caldeos, y adivinos:

There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; whom the king Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king, I say, thy father, made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers;

There is a man in your kingdom in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of your father, light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, were found in him. The king, Nebuchadnezzar, your father—yes, the king, your father—made him master of the magicians, enchanters, Chaldeans, and soothsayers,

parce qu’un esprit extraordinaire, et la connaissance et l’intelligence pour interpréter les songes et pour expliquer les énigmes et pour résoudre les problèmes difficiles, ont été trouvés en lui, en Daniel, à qui le roi a donné le nom de Belteshatsar. Que Daniel soit donc appelé, et il indiquera l’interprétation.

Por cuanto fué hallado en él mayor espíritu, y ciencia, y entendimiento, interpretando sueños, y declarando preguntas, y deshaciendo dudas, es á saber, en Daniel; al cual el rey puso por nombre Beltsasar. Llámese pues ahora á Daniel, y él mostrará la declaración.

Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and shewing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar: now let Daniel be called, and he will shew the interpretation.

Alors Daniel fut introduit devant le roi. Le roi prit la parole et dit à Daniel : Es-tu ce Daniel, l’un des fils de la captivité de Juda, que le roi, mon père, a amenés de Juda ?

Entonces Daniel fué traído delante del rey. Y habló el rey, y dijo á Daniel: ¿Eres tú aquel Daniel de los hijos de la cautividad de Judá, que mi padre trajo de Judea?

Then was Daniel brought in before the king. And the king spake and said unto Daniel, Art thou that Daniel, which art of the children of the captivity of Judah, whom the king my father brought out of Jewry?

Then Daniel was brought in before the king. The king spoke and said to Daniel, “Are you that Daniel of the children of the captivity of Judah, whom the king my father brought out of Judah?

Et j’ai entendu dire de toi que l’esprit des dieux est en toi, et que de la lumière, et de l’intelligence, et une sagesse extraordinaire se trouvent en toi.

Yo he oído de ti que el espíritu de los dioses santos está en ti, y que en ti se halló luz, y entendimiento y mayor sabiduría.

I have even heard of thee, that the spirit of the gods is in thee, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom is found in thee.

I have heard of you, that the spirit of the gods is in you and that light, understanding, and excellent wisdom are found in you.

Et maintenant, les sages, les enchanteurs, ont été amenés devant moi, afin qu’ils lisent cette écriture et m’en fassent connaître l’interprétation, et ils n’ont pu indiquer l’interprétation de la chose.

Y ahora fueron traídos delante de mí, sabios, astrólogos, que leyesen esta escritura, y me mostrasen su interpretación: pero no han podido mostrar la declaración del negocio.

And now the wise men, the astrologers, have been brought in before me, that they should read this writing, and make known unto me the interpretation thereof: but they could not shew the interpretation of the thing:

Et j’ai entendu dire de toi que tu peux donner des interprétations et résoudre les problèmes difficiles. Maintenant, si tu peux lire l’écriture et m’en faire connaître l’interprétation, tu seras vêtu de pourpre, et tu auras une chaîne d’or autour de ton cou, et tu seras le troisième gouverneur dans le royaume.

Yo pues he oído de ti que puedes declarar las dudas, y desatar dificultades. Si ahora pudieres leer esta escritura, y mostrarme su interpretación, serás vestido de púrpura, y collar de oro tendrás en tu cuello, y en el reino serás el tercer señor.

And I have heard of thee, that thou canst make interpretations, and dissolve doubts: now if thou canst read the writing, and make known to me the interpretation thereof, thou shalt be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about thy neck, and shalt be the third ruler in the kingdom.

But I have heard of you, that you can give interpretations and dissolve doubts. Now if you can read the writing and make known to me its interpretation, you shall be clothed with purple, and have a chain of gold around your neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.”

Alors Daniel répondit et dit devant le roi : Que tes présents te demeurent, et donne tes récompenses à un autre. Toutefois je lirai l’écriture au roi, et je lui en ferai connaître l’interprétation.

Entonces Daniel respondió, y dijo delante del rey: Tus dones sean para ti, y tus presentes dalos á otro. La escritura yo la leeré al rey, y le mostraré la declaración.

Then Daniel answered and said before the king, Let thy gifts be to thyself, and give thy rewards to another; yet I will read the writing unto the king, and make known to him the interpretation.

Then Daniel answered before the king, “Let your gifts be to yourself, and give your rewards to another. Nevertheless, I will read the writing to the king, and make known to him the interpretation.

Ô roi, le Dieu Très-haut donna à Nebucadnetsar, ton père, le royaume, et la grandeur, et l’honneur, et la majesté ;

El altísimo Dios, oh rey, dió á Nabucodonosor tu padre el reino, y la grandeza, y la gloria, y la honra:

O thou king, the most high God gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father a kingdom, and majesty, and glory, and honour:

“To you, king, the Most High God gave Nebuchadnezzar your father the kingdom, and greatness, and glory, and majesty.

et, à cause de la grandeur qu’il lui donna, tous les peuples, les peuplades et les langues, tremblaient devant lui, et le craignaient ; il tuait qui il voulait, et il conservait en vie qui il voulait ; il exaltait qui il voulait, et il abaissait qui il voulait.

Y por la grandeza que le dió, todos los pueblos, naciones, y lenguas, temblaban y temían delante de él. Los que él quería mataba, y daba vida á los que quería: engrandecía á los que quería, y á los que quería humillaba.

And for the majesty that he gave him, all people, nations, and languages, trembled and feared before him: whom he would he slew; and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he set up; and whom he would he put down.

Because of the greatness that he gave him, all the peoples, nations, and languages trembled and feared before him. He killed whom he wanted to, and he kept alive whom he wanted to. He raised up whom he wanted to, and he put down whom he wanted to.

Mais quand son cœur s’éleva et que son esprit s’endurcit jusqu’à l’orgueil, il fut précipité du trône de son royaume, et sa dignité lui fut ôtée ;

Mas cuando su corazón se ensoberbeció, y su espíritu se endureció en altivez, fué depuesto del trono de su reino, y traspasaron de él la gloria:

But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him:

But when his heart was lifted up, and his spirit was hardened so that he dealt proudly, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him.

et il fut chassé du milieu des fils des hommes, et son cœur fut rendu semblable à celui des bêtes, et sa demeure fut avec les ânes sauvages ; on le nourrit d’herbe comme les bœufs, et son corps fut baigné de la rosée des cieux, jusqu’à ce qu’il connut que le Dieu Très-haut domine sur le royaume des hommes, et qu’il y établit qui il veut.

Y fué echado de entre los hijos de los hombres; y su corazón fué puesto con las bestias, y con los asnos monteses fué su morada. Hierba le hicieron comer, como á buey, y su cuerpo fué bañado con el rocío del cielo, hasta que conoció que el altísimo Dios se enseñorea del reino de los hombres, y que pondrá sobre él al que quisiere.

And he was driven from the sons of men; and his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses: they fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; till he knew that the most high God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he appointeth over it whomsoever he will.

He was fed with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of the sky, until he knew that the Most High God rules in the kingdom of men, and that he sets up over it whomever he will.

Et toi, son fils Belshatsar, tu n’as pas humilié ton cœur, bien que tu aies su tout cela.

Y tú, su hijo Belsasar, no has humillado tu corazón, sabiendo todo esto:

And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest all this;

“You, his son, Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, though you knew all this,

Mais tu t’es élevé contre le Seigneur des cieux ; et on a apporté devant toi les vases de sa maison, et toi et tes grands, tes femmes et tes concubines, vous y avez bu du vin ; et tu as loué les dieux d’argent et d’or, d’airain, de fer, de bois et de pierre, qui ne voient, et n’entendent, et ne comprennent point ; et le Dieu en la main duquel est ton souffle, et à qui appartiennent toutes tes voies, tu ne l’as pas glorifié.

Antes contra el Señor del cielo te has ensoberbecido, é hiciste traer delante de ti los vasos de su casa, y tú y tus príncipes, tus mujeres y tus concubinas, bebisteis vino en ellos: demás de esto, á dioses de plata y de oro, de metal, de hierro, de madera, y de piedra, que ni ven, ni oyen, ni saben, diste alabanza: y al Dios en cuya mano está tu vida, y cuyos son todos tus caminos, nunca honraste.

But hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know: and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified:

but have lifted up yourself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before you, and you and your lords, your wives, and your concubines, have drunk wine from them. You have praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood, and stone, which don’t see, or hear, or know; and you have not glorified the God in whose hand your breath is, and whose are all your ways.

Alors a été envoyée de sa part l’extrémité de la main, et cette écriture a été tracée.

Entonces de su presencia fué enviada la palma de la mano que esculpió esta escritura.

Then was the part of the hand sent from him; and this writing was written.

Then the part of the hand was sent from before him, and this writing was inscribed.

Et voici l’écriture qui a été tracée : Mené, Mené, Thekel, Upharsin !

Y la escritura que esculpió es: MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.

And this is the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.

“This is the writing that was inscribed: ‘MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.’

Voici l’interprétation des paroles. Mené : Dieu a compté ton royaume, et y a mis fin.

La declaración del negocio es: MENE: Contó Dios tu reino, y halo rematado.

This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it.

“This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE: God has counted your kingdom, and brought it to an end.

Thekel : Tu as été pesé à la balance, et tu as été trouvé manquant de poids.

TEKEL: Pesado has sido en balanza, y fuiste hallado falto.

TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.

TEKEL: you are weighed in the balances, and are found wanting.

Pérès : Ton royaume est divisé, et donné aux Mèdes et aux Perses.

PERES: Tu reino fué rompido, y es dado á Medos y Persas.

PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.

PERES: your kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.”

Alors Belshatsar donna des ordres, et on vêtit Daniel de pourpre, et †on mit une chaîne d’or à son cou, et on proclama qu’il serait le troisième gouverneur dans le royaume.

Entonces, mandándolo Belsasar, vistieron á Daniel de púrpura, y en su cuello fué puesto un collar de oro, y pregonaron de él que fuese el tercer señor en el reino.

Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.

En cette nuit-là, Belshatsar, roi des Chaldéens, fut tué.

La misma noche fué muerto Belsasar, rey de los Caldeos.

In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain.

Y Darío de Media tomó el reino, siendo de sesenta y dos años.

And Darius the Median took the kingdom, being about threescore and two years old.
