Der König Belsazar machte seinen tausend Gewaltigen ein großes Mahl, und er trank Wein vor den Tausend.

Belsazar befahl, als der Wein ihm schmeckte, dass man die goldenen und die silbernen Gefäße herbeibrächte, die sein Vater Nebukadnezar aus dem Tempel in Jerusalem weggenommen hatte, damit der König und seine Gewaltigen, seine Frauen und seine Nebenfrauen daraus tränken.

Belsasar, con el gusto del vino, mandó que trajesen los vasos de oro y de plata que Nabucodonosor su padre había traído del templo de Jerusalem; para que bebiesen con ellos el rey y sus príncipes, sus mujeres y sus concubinas.

Belshazzar, whiles he tasted the wine, commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the temple which was in Jerusalem; that the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, might drink therein.

Sie tranken Wein und rühmten die Götter aus Gold und Silber, aus Kupfer, Eisen, Holz und Stein.

In demselben Augenblick kamen Finger einer Menschenhand hervor und schrieben, dem Leuchter gegenüber, auf den Kalk der Wand des königlichen Palastes; und der König sah die Hand, die schrieb.

En aquella misma hora salieron unos dedos de mano de hombre, y escribían delante del candelero sobre lo encalado de la pared del palacio real, y el rey veía la palma de la mano que escribía.

In the same hour came forth fingers of a man’s hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaister of the wall of the king’s palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote.

Da veränderte sich die Gesichtsfarbe des Königs, und seine Gedanken ängstigten ihn; und die Bänder seiner Hüften lösten sich, und seine Knie schlugen aneinander.

Entonces el rey se demudó de su color, y sus pensamientos lo turbaron, y desatáronse las ceñiduras de sus lomos, y sus rodillas se batían la una con la otra.

Then the king’s countenance was changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his loins were loosed, and his knees smote one against another.

Der König rief mit Macht, dass man die Beschwörer, die Chaldäer und die Wahrsager hereinbringe; und der König hob an und sprach zu den Weisen von Babel: Jeder, der diese Schrift lesen und ihre Deutung mir anzeigen wird, der soll mit Purpur bekleidet werden, mit einer goldenen Kette um seinen Hals, und er soll als Dritter im Königreich herrschen.

El rey clamó en alta voz que hiciesen venir magos, Caldeos, y adivinos. Habló el rey, y dijo á los sabios de Babilonia: Cualquiera que leyere esta escritura, y me mostrare su declaración, será vestido de púrpura, y tendrá collar de oro á su cuello; y en el reino se enseñoreará el tercero.

The king cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. And the king spake, and said to the wise men of Babylon, Whosoever shall read this writing, and shew me the interpretation thereof, shall be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.

The king spoke and said to the wise men of Babylon, “Whoever reads this writing and shows me its interpretation shall be clothed with purple, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.”

Dann kamen alle Weisen des Königs herbei; aber sie vermochten nicht die Schrift zu lesen, noch die Deutung derselben dem König mitzuteilen.

Entonces fueron introducidos todos los sabios del rey, y no pudieron leer la escritura, ni mostrar al rey su declaración.

Then came in all the king’s wise men: but they could not read the writing, nor make known to the king the interpretation thereof.

Da geriet der König Belsazar in große Angst, und seine Gesichtsfarbe veränderte sich an ihm; und seine Gewaltigen wurden bestürzt.

Infolge der Worte des Königs und seiner Gewaltigen trat die Königin in das Haus des Gelages. Die Königin hob an und sprach: O König, lebe ewiglich! Lass deine Gedanken dich nicht ängstigen und deine Gesichtsfarbe sich nicht verändern!

La reina, por las palabras del rey y de sus príncipes, entró á la sala del banquete. Y habló la reina, y dijo: Rey, para siempre vive, no te asombren tus pensamientos, ni tus colores se demuden:

Now the queen, by reason of the words of the king and his lords, came into the banquet house: and the queen spake and said, O king, live for ever: let not thy thoughts trouble thee, nor let thy countenance be changed:

The queen by reason of the words of the king and his lords came into the banquet house. The queen spoke and said, “O king, live forever; don’t let your thoughts trouble you, nor let your face be changed.

Es ist ein Mann in deinem Königreich, in dem der Geist der heiligen Götter ist; und in den Tagen deines Vaters wurden Erleuchtung und Verstand und Weisheit gleich der Weisheit der Götter bei ihm gefunden; und der König Nebukadnezar, dein Vater, hat ihn zum Obersten der Schriftgelehrten, der Beschwörer, der Chaldäer und der Wahrsager erhoben, dein Vater, o König!

En tu reino hay un varón, en el cual mora el espíritu de los dioses santos; y en los días de tu padre se halló en él luz é inteligencia y sabiduría, como ciencia de los dioses: al cual el rey Nabucodonosor, tu padre, el rey tu padre constituyó príncipe sobre todos los magos, astrólogos, Caldeos, y adivinos:

There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; whom the king Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king, I say, thy father, made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers;

There is a man in your kingdom in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of your father, light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, were found in him. The king, Nebuchadnezzar, your father—yes, the king, your father—made him master of the magicians, enchanters, Chaldeans, and soothsayers,

weil ein außergewöhnlicher Geist und Kenntnis und Verstand, ein Geist der Traumdeutung und der Rätselerklärung und der Knotenlösung bei ihm gefunden wurde, bei Daniel, dem der König den Namen Beltsazar gegeben hat. So werde nun Daniel gerufen, und er wird die Deutung anzeigen.

Por cuanto fué hallado en él mayor espíritu, y ciencia, y entendimiento, interpretando sueños, y declarando preguntas, y deshaciendo dudas, es á saber, en Daniel; al cual el rey puso por nombre Beltsasar. Llámese pues ahora á Daniel, y él mostrará la declaración.

Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and shewing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar: now let Daniel be called, and he will shew the interpretation.

Darauf wurde Daniel vor den König geführt. Der König hob an und sprach zu Daniel: Bist du Daniel, einer der Weggeführten von Juda, die der König, mein Vater, aus Juda hergebracht hat?

Entonces Daniel fué traído delante del rey. Y habló el rey, y dijo á Daniel: ¿Eres tú aquel Daniel de los hijos de la cautividad de Judá, que mi padre trajo de Judea?

Then was Daniel brought in before the king. And the king spake and said unto Daniel, Art thou that Daniel, which art of the children of the captivity of Judah, whom the king my father brought out of Jewry?

Und ich habe von dir gehört, dass der Geist der Götter in dir ist, und dass Erleuchtung und Verstand und außergewöhnliche Weisheit bei dir gefunden werden.

Yo he oído de ti que el espíritu de los dioses santos está en ti, y que en ti se halló luz, y entendimiento y mayor sabiduría.

I have even heard of thee, that the spirit of the gods is in thee, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom is found in thee.

I have heard of you, that the spirit of the gods is in you and that light, understanding, and excellent wisdom are found in you.

Und nun sind die Weisen, die Beschwörer, vor mich geführt worden, damit sie diese Schrift läsen und ihre Deutung mir kundtäten; aber sie vermögen nicht, die Deutung der Sache anzuzeigen.

Y ahora fueron traídos delante de mí, sabios, astrólogos, que leyesen esta escritura, y me mostrasen su interpretación: pero no han podido mostrar la declaración del negocio.

And now the wise men, the astrologers, have been brought in before me, that they should read this writing, and make known unto me the interpretation thereof: but they could not shew the interpretation of the thing:

Ich habe aber von dir gehört, dass du Deutungen zu geben und Knoten zu lösen vermagst. Nun, wenn du diese Schrift zu lesen und ihre Deutung mir mitzuteilen vermagst, so sollst du mit Purpur bekleidet werden, mit einer goldenen Kette um deinen Hals, und du sollst als Dritter im Königreich herrschen.

Yo pues he oído de ti que puedes declarar las dudas, y desatar dificultades. Si ahora pudieres leer esta escritura, y mostrarme su interpretación, serás vestido de púrpura, y collar de oro tendrás en tu cuello, y en el reino serás el tercer señor.

And I have heard of thee, that thou canst make interpretations, and dissolve doubts: now if thou canst read the writing, and make known to me the interpretation thereof, thou shalt be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about thy neck, and shalt be the third ruler in the kingdom.

But I have heard of you, that you can give interpretations and dissolve doubts. Now if you can read the writing and make known to me its interpretation, you shall be clothed with purple, and have a chain of gold around your neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.”

Da antwortete Daniel und sprach vor dem König: Deine Gaben mögen dir verbleiben, und deine Geschenke gib einem anderen; jedoch werde ich die Schrift dem König lesen und die Deutung ihm mitteilen.

Entonces Daniel respondió, y dijo delante del rey: Tus dones sean para ti, y tus presentes dalos á otro. La escritura yo la leeré al rey, y le mostraré la declaración.

Then Daniel answered and said before the king, Let thy gifts be to thyself, and give thy rewards to another; yet I will read the writing unto the king, and make known to him the interpretation.

Then Daniel answered before the king, “Let your gifts be to yourself, and give your rewards to another. Nevertheless, I will read the writing to the king, and make known to him the interpretation.

Du, o König! Der höchste Gott hatte Nebukadnezar, deinem Vater, das Königtum und die Größe und die Ehre und die Herrlichkeit verliehen;

El altísimo Dios, oh rey, dió á Nabucodonosor tu padre el reino, y la grandeza, y la gloria, y la honra:

O thou king, the most high God gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father a kingdom, and majesty, and glory, and honour:

“To you, king, the Most High God gave Nebuchadnezzar your father the kingdom, and greatness, and glory, and majesty.

und wegen der Größe, die er ihm verliehen hatte, bebten und fürchteten sich vor ihm alle Völker, Völkerschaften und Sprachen. Wen er wollte tötete er, und wen er wollte ließ er leben; und wen er wollte erhob er, und wen er wollte, erniedrigte er.

Y por la grandeza que le dió, todos los pueblos, naciones, y lenguas, temblaban y temían delante de él. Los que él quería mataba, y daba vida á los que quería: engrandecía á los que quería, y á los que quería humillaba.

And for the majesty that he gave him, all people, nations, and languages, trembled and feared before him: whom he would he slew; and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he set up; and whom he would he put down.

Because of the greatness that he gave him, all the peoples, nations, and languages trembled and feared before him. He killed whom he wanted to, and he kept alive whom he wanted to. He raised up whom he wanted to, and he put down whom he wanted to.

Als aber sein Herz sich erhob und sein Geist bis zur Vermessenheit sich verstockte, wurde er von seinem königlichen Thron gestürzt, und man nahm ihm seine Würde.

Mas cuando su corazón se ensoberbeció, y su espíritu se endureció en altivez, fué depuesto del trono de su reino, y traspasaron de él la gloria:

But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him:

But when his heart was lifted up, and his spirit was hardened so that he dealt proudly, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him.

Und er wurde von den Menschenkindern ausgestoßen, und sein Herz wurde dem der Tiere gleich, und seine Wohnung war bei den Wildeseln; man gab ihm Kraut zu essen wie den Rindern, und sein Leib wurde vom Tau des Himmels benetzt – bis er erkannte, dass der höchste Gott über das Königtum der Menschen herrscht, und darüber bestellt wen er will.

Y fué echado de entre los hijos de los hombres; y su corazón fué puesto con las bestias, y con los asnos monteses fué su morada. Hierba le hicieron comer, como á buey, y su cuerpo fué bañado con el rocío del cielo, hasta que conoció que el altísimo Dios se enseñorea del reino de los hombres, y que pondrá sobre él al que quisiere.

And he was driven from the sons of men; and his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses: they fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; till he knew that the most high God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he appointeth over it whomsoever he will.

Und du, Belsazar, sein Sohn, hast dein Herz nicht gedemütigt, obwohl du dieses alles gewusst hast.

Y tú, su hijo Belsasar, no has humillado tu corazón, sabiendo todo esto:

And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest all this;

“You, his son, Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, though you knew all this,

Und du hast dich über den Herrn des Himmels erhoben; und man hat die Gefäße seines Hauses vor dich gebracht, und du und deine Gewaltigen, deine Frauen und deine Nebenfrauen, ihr habt Wein daraus getrunken. Und du hast die Götter aus Silber und Gold, aus Kupfer, Eisen, Holz und Stein gerühmt, die nicht sehen und nicht hören und nicht wahrnehmen; aber den Gott, in dessen Hand dein Odem ist, und bei dem alle deine Wege sind, hast du nicht geehrt.

Antes contra el Señor del cielo te has ensoberbecido, é hiciste traer delante de ti los vasos de su casa, y tú y tus príncipes, tus mujeres y tus concubinas, bebisteis vino en ellos: demás de esto, á dioses de plata y de oro, de metal, de hierro, de madera, y de piedra, que ni ven, ni oyen, ni saben, diste alabanza: y al Dios en cuya mano está tu vida, y cuyos son todos tus caminos, nunca honraste.

But hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know: and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified:

but have lifted up yourself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before you, and you and your lords, your wives, and your concubines, have drunk wine from them. You have praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood, and stone, which don’t see, or hear, or know; and you have not glorified the God in whose hand your breath is, and whose are all your ways.

Da wurde von ihm diese Hand gesandt und diese Schrift gezeichnet.

Entonces de su presencia fué enviada la palma de la mano que esculpió esta escritura.

Then was the part of the hand sent from him; and this writing was written.

Then the part of the hand was sent from before him, and this writing was inscribed.

Und dies ist die Schrift, die gezeichnet worden ist: Mene, mene, tekel upharsin.

Y la escritura que esculpió es: MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.

And this is the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.

“This is the writing that was inscribed: ‘MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.’

Dies ist die Deutung der Sache: Mene – Gott hat dein Königtum gezählt und macht ihm ein Ende.

La declaración del negocio es: MENE: Contó Dios tu reino, y halo rematado.

This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it.

Tekel – du bist auf der Waage gewogen und zu leicht befunden worden.

TEKEL: Pesado has sido en balanza, y fuiste hallado falto.

TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.

TEKEL: you are weighed in the balances, and are found wanting.

Peres – dein Königreich wird zerteilt und den Medern und Persern gegeben.

PERES: Tu reino fué rompido, y es dado á Medos y Persas.

PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.

PERES: your kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.”

Dann befahl Belsazar, und man bekleidete Daniel mit Purpur, mit einer goldenen Kette um seinen Hals; und man rief über ihn aus, dass er der dritte Herrscher im Königreich sein solle.

Entonces, mandándolo Belsasar, vistieron á Daniel de púrpura, y en su cuello fué puesto un collar de oro, y pregonaron de él que fuese el tercer señor en el reino.

Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.

In derselben Nacht wurde Belsazar, der König der Chaldäer, getötet.

La misma noche fué muerto Belsasar, rey de los Caldeos.

In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain.

And Darius the Median took the kingdom, being about threescore and two years old.
