En tu reino hay un varón, en el cual mora el espíritu de los dioses santos; y en los días de tu padre se halló en él luz é inteligencia y sabiduría, como ciencia de los dioses: al cual el rey Nabucodonosor, tu padre, el rey tu padre constituyó príncipe sobre todos los magos, astrólogos, Caldeos, y adivinos:
There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; whom the king Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king, I say, thy father, made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers;

ganz allein darum, weil bei ihm ein vortrefflicher Geist, Verstand und Scharfsinn gefunden wurde zur Auslegung von Träumen, zur Erklärung von Rätseln und zur Auflösung von Knoten, nämlich bei dem Daniel, welchem der König den Namen Beltsazar gab. So lasse man nun Daniel rufen; der wird dir die Deutung sagen!
Por cuanto fué hallado en él mayor espíritu, y ciencia, y entendimiento, interpretando sueños, y declarando preguntas, y deshaciendo dudas, es á saber, en Daniel; al cual el rey puso por nombre Beltsasar. Llámese pues ahora á Daniel, y él mostrará la declaración.
Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and shewing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar: now let Daniel be called, and he will shew the interpretation.

Sobald nun Daniel vor den König hineingeführt worden war, hob der König an und sprach zu ihm: Bist du Daniel, von den gefangenen Juden, welche mein königlicher Vater aus Juda weggeführt hat?

Ich habe von dir gehört, daß der Geist Gottes in dir sei und daß Erleuchtung und Verstand und außerordentliche Weisheit bei dir gefunden werde.

Nun sind die Weisen und Wahrsager vor mich geführt worden, um diese Schrift zu lesen und mir ihre Bedeutung kundzutun, sie waren aber nicht imstande, die Bedeutung der Worte zu sagen.

Und von dir habe ich gehört, daß du Deutungen geben und Knoten auflösen könnest. Wenn du nun diese Schrift lesen und mir ihre Bedeutung erklären kannst, so sollst du mit Purpur bekleidet werden und eine goldene Kette an deinem Halse tragen und als Dritter im Reiche herrschen!
Yo pues he oído de ti que puedes declarar las dudas, y desatar dificultades. Si ahora pudieres leer esta escritura, y mostrarme su interpretación, serás vestido de púrpura, y collar de oro tendrás en tu cuello, y en el reino serás el tercer señor.
And I have heard of thee, that thou canst make interpretations, and dissolve doubts: now if thou canst read the writing, and make known to me the interpretation thereof, thou shalt be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about thy neck, and shalt be the third ruler in the kingdom.

Da antwortete Daniel alsbald und sprach vor dem König: Behalte deine Gaben für dich und gib deine Geschenke einem andern! Aber die Schrift will ich dem Könige gleichwohl lesen und sagen, was sie bedeutet.
Entonces Daniel respondió, y dijo delante del rey: Tus dones sean para ti, y tus presentes dalos á otro. La escritura yo la leeré al rey, y le mostraré la declaración.
Then Daniel answered and said before the king, Let thy gifts be to thyself, and give thy rewards to another; yet I will read the writing unto the king, and make known to him the interpretation.

O König, Gott, der Allerhöchste, hat deinem Vater Nebukadnezar Königtum, Majestät, Ehre und Herrlichkeit verliehen;
El altísimo Dios, oh rey, dió á Nabucodonosor tu padre el reino, y la grandeza, y la gloria, y la honra:
O thou king, the most high God gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father a kingdom, and majesty, and glory, and honour:
“To you, king, the Most High God gave Nebuchadnezzar your father the kingdom, and greatness, and glory, and majesty.
und wegen seiner Majestät, die er ihm gab, zitterten und bebten vor ihm alle Völker, Stämme und Zungen; denn er tötete, wen er wollte, ließ leben, wen er wollte, erhöhte, wen er wollte, erniedrigte, wen er wollte.
Y por la grandeza que le dió, todos los pueblos, naciones, y lenguas, temblaban y temían delante de él. Los que él quería mataba, y daba vida á los que quería: engrandecía á los que quería, y á los que quería humillaba.
And for the majesty that he gave him, all people, nations, and languages, trembled and feared before him: whom he would he slew; and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he set up; and whom he would he put down.
Because of the greatness that he gave him, all the peoples, nations, and languages trembled and feared before him. He killed whom he wanted to, and he kept alive whom he wanted to. He raised up whom he wanted to, and he put down whom he wanted to.
Da sich aber sein Herz erhob und sein Geist stolz ward bis zur Vermessenheit, wurde er von seinem königlichen Throne gestürzt, und seine Würde ward ihm genommen;
Mas cuando su corazón se ensoberbeció, y su espíritu se endureció en altivez, fué depuesto del trono de su reino, y traspasaron de él la gloria:
But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him:
But when his heart was lifted up, and his spirit was hardened so that he dealt proudly, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him.
man verstieß ihn von den Menschenkindern, und sein Herz ward den Tieren gleich; er wohnte bei den Wildeseln, und man fütterte ihn mit Gras wie einen Ochsen, und sein Leib ward vom Tau des Himmels benetzt, bis er erkannte, daß Gott, der Allerhöchste, über das Königtum der Menschen regiert und den darüber bestellt, der ihm gefällt.
Y fué echado de entre los hijos de los hombres; y su corazón fué puesto con las bestias, y con los asnos monteses fué su morada. Hierba le hicieron comer, como á buey, y su cuerpo fué bañado con el rocío del cielo, hasta que conoció que el altísimo Dios se enseñorea del reino de los hombres, y que pondrá sobre él al que quisiere.
And he was driven from the sons of men; and his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses: they fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; till he knew that the most high God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he appointeth over it whomsoever he will.

sondern du hast dich über den Herrn des Himmels erhoben; und man hat die Gefäße seines Hauses vor dich gebracht, und du und deine Gewaltigen, deine Frauen und Nebenfrauen haben Wein daraus getrunken, und du hast die silbernen und goldenen, ehernen, eisernen, hölzernen und steinernen Götzen gepriesen, die weder sehen noch hören noch verstehen; den Gott aber, in dessen Hand dein Odem und alle deine Wege sind, hast du nicht verherrlicht!
Antes contra el Señor del cielo te has ensoberbecido, é hiciste traer delante de ti los vasos de su casa, y tú y tus príncipes, tus mujeres y tus concubinas, bebisteis vino en ellos: demás de esto, á dioses de plata y de oro, de metal, de hierro, de madera, y de piedra, que ni ven, ni oyen, ni saben, diste alabanza: y al Dios en cuya mano está tu vida, y cuyos son todos tus caminos, nunca honraste.
But hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know: and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified:
but have lifted up yourself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before you, and you and your lords, your wives, and your concubines, have drunk wine from them. You have praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood, and stone, which don’t see, or hear, or know; and you have not glorified the God in whose hand your breath is, and whose are all your ways.
Infolgedessen wurde von ihm diese Hand gesandt und die Schrift, die da verzeichnet steht.
Entonces de su presencia fué enviada la palma de la mano que esculpió esta escritura.
Then was the part of the hand sent from him; and this writing was written.
Then the part of the hand was sent from before him, and this writing was inscribed.
Das ist aber die Schrift, die geschrieben ist: Mene, Mene, Tekel Upharsin!
Y la escritura que esculpió es: MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.
And this is the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.
“This is the writing that was inscribed: ‘MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.’
Und das ist die Bedeutung des Spruches: Mene bedeutet: Gott hat die Tage deines Königtums gezählt und ihm ein Ende bereitet!
La declaración del negocio es: MENE: Contó Dios tu reino, y halo rematado.
This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it.

Tekel bedeutet: du bist auf einer Waage gewogen und zu leicht erfunden worden!
TEKEL: Pesado has sido en balanza, y fuiste hallado falto.

TEKEL: you are weighed in the balances, and are found wanting.
Peres bedeutet: dein Königreich wird zerteilt und den Medern und Persern gegeben werden!
PERES: Tu reino fué rompido, y es dado á Medos y Persas.

Alsbald befahl Belsazar, daß man den Daniel mit Purpur bekleide und ihm eine goldene Kette um den Hals lege und von ihm ausrufe, daß er als Dritter im Reiche herrschen solle.
Entonces, mandándolo Belsasar, vistieron á Daniel de púrpura, y en su cuello fué puesto un collar de oro, y pregonaron de él que fuese el tercer señor en el reino.
Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.
