12Ed in quello stante vennero al re, e dissero in sua presenza, intorno al divieto reale: Non hai tu scritto il divieto, che chiunque farà alcuna richiesta a qualunque dio, od uomo, di qui a trenta giorni, salvo che a te, o re, sia gettato nella fossa de' leoni? Il re rispose, e disse: La cosa è ferma, nella maniera delle leggi di Media, e di Persia, che sono irrevocabili.

12Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king’s decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.
