Quiso Darío establecer para el gobierno del reino ciento veinte sátrapas o gobernadores, repartidos por todas las provincias del reino;
PARECIÓ bien á Darío constituir sobre el reino ciento veinte gobernadores, que estuviesen en todo el reino.

Entonces los presidentes y gobernadores buscaban ocasiones contra Daniel por parte del reino; mas no podían hallar alguna ocasión ó falta, porque él era fiel, y ningún vicio ni falta fué en él hallado.

Dijeron, pues: Nosotros no hallaremos por dónde acusar a este Daniel, sino tal vez por lo tocante a la ley de su Dios.
Entonces dijeron aquellos hombres: No hallaremos contra este Daniel ocasión alguna, si no la hallamos contra él en la ley de su Dios.
Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.

Entonces los príncipes y sátrapas sorprendieron al rey y le hablaron de esta manera: ¡Oh rey Darío, vive eternamente!

Lo que sabido por Daniel, esto es, que había sido establecida dicha ley, se fue a su casa; y allí, abiertas las ventanas de su habitación, que miraban hacia Jerusalén , hincaba sus rodillas tres veces al día, y adoraba y daba gracias a su Dios, como antes había acostumbrado hacerlo.
Y Daniel, cuando supo que la escritura estaba firmada, entróse en su casa, y abiertas las ventanas de su cámara que estaban hacia Jerusalem, hincábase de rodillas tres veces al día, y oraba, y confesaba delante de su Dios, como lo solía hacer antes.

Entonces repusieron, y dijeron al rey: Daniel, uno de los hijos cautivos de Judá, no ha hecho caso de tu ley ni del edicto que tú pusiste; sino que tres veces al día hace oración a su manera.

Al oír esto quedó el rey muy triste; y resolvió en su corazón salvar a Daniel; y hasta que el sol se puso trabajó por librarle.

Y Daniel respondió al rey, diciendo: ¡Oh rey, vive para siempre!

Se llenó entonces el rey de la mayor alegría por amor a Daniel, y mandó que sacasen a Daniel fuera del lago, y sacado que fue, no se halló en él lesión alguna porque tuvo confianza en su Dios.
Entonces se alegró el rey en gran manera á causa de él, y mandó sacar á Daniel del foso: y fué Daniel sacado del foso, y ninguna lesión se halló en él, porque creyó en su Dios.
Then was the king exceeding glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he believed in his God.

El es el libertador y el salvador , el que obra prodigios y maravillas en cielo y tierra, él es el que ha librado a Daniel del lago de los leones.

Se conservó después Daniel en gran honor durante el reinado de Darío y el reinado de Ciro, rey de los persas.
