Daniel 7

Una noche, durante el primer año del reinado de Belsasar sobre el imperio de Babilonia, Daniel tuvo un sueño que decidió poner por escrito. Esta es la descripción de lo que vio:

EN el primer año de Belsasar rey de Babilonia, vió Daniel un sueño y visiones de su cabeza en su cama: luego escribió el sueño, y notó la suma de los negocios.

«En mi sueño vi una gran tormenta sobre el océano, con fuertes vientos que soplaban de todas las direcciones.

Habló Daniel y dijo: Veía yo en mi visión de noche, y he aquí que los cuatro vientos del cielo combatían en la gran mar.

Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea.

Luego cuatro enormes bestias salían del agua, cada una distinta a la otra.

Y cuatro bestias grandes, diferentes la una de la otra, subían de la mar.

And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another.

Four great animals came up from the sea, different from one another.

La primera era como un león, ¡pero tenía alas de águila! Y mientras yo observaba, sus alas le fueron arrancadas, lo levantaron del suelo y lo pararon sobre sus patas traseras, como un hombre; y le fue dada la mente de un hombre.

La primera era como león, y tenía alas de águila. Yo estaba mirando hasta tanto que sus alas fueron arrancadas, y fué quitada de la tierra; y púsose enhiesta sobre los pies á manera de hombre, y fuéle dado corazón de hombre.

The first was like a lion, and had eagle’s wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man’s heart was given to it.

La segunda bestia se parecía a un oso, tenía un costado más alzado que el otro. Tenía tres costillas entre sus dientes, y oí una voz que le decía: “¡Ponte en acción! ¡Devora mucha gente!”.

Y he aquí otra segunda bestia, semejante á un oso, la cual se puso al un lado, y tenía en su boca tres costillas entre sus dientes; y fuéle dicho así: Levántate, traga carne mucha.

And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.

“Behold, there was another animal, a second, like a bear. It was raised up on one side, and three ribs were in its mouth between its teeth. They said this to it: ‘Arise! Devour much flesh!’

La tercera de estas bestias extrañas se parecía a un leopardo, pero en su espalda tenía cuatro alas como las de las aves, y tenía cuatro cabezas. Y se le entregó gran poder.

Después de esto yo miraba, y he aquí otra, semejante á un tigre, y tenía cuatro alas de ave en sus espaldas: tenía también esta bestia cuatro cabezas; y fuéle dada potestad.

After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.

“After this I saw, and behold, another, like a leopard, which had on its back four wings of a bird. The animal also had four heads; and dominion was given to it.

»Luego la cuarta bestia que vi en mis visiones nocturnas surgió del océano, demasiado terrible y espantosa, tanto que no la puedo describir, e increíblemente fuerte. Devoraba a todas sus víctimas desgarrándolas con sus enormes dientes de hierro, y aplastaba las sobras bajo sus patas. Era diferente de todas las otras bestias, y tenía diez cuernos.

Después de esto miraba yo en las visiones de la noche, y he aquí la cuarta bestia, espantosa y terrible, y en grande manera fuerte; la cual tenía unos dientes grandes de hierro: devoraba y desmenuzaba, y las sobras hollaba con sus pies: y era muy diferente de todas las bestias que habían sido antes de ella, y tenía diez cuernos.

After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.

“After this I saw in the night visions, and, behold, there was a fourth animal, awesome, powerful, and exceedingly strong. It had great iron teeth. It devoured and broke in pieces, and stamped the residue with its feet. It was different from all the animals that were before it. It had ten horns.

Mientras estaba mirando los cuernos, de repente otro cuerno pequeño apareció entre los demás, y tres de los primeros cuernos fueron arrancados, con sus raíces, para darle lugar al pequeño. Este cuerno pequeño tenía ojos de hombre y una boca que hablaba con arrogancia.

Estando yo contemplando los cuernos, he aquí que otro cuerno pequeño subía entre ellos, y delante de él fueron arrancados tres cuernos de los primeros; y he aquí, en este cuerno había ojos como ojos de hombre, y una boca que hablaba grandezas.

I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.

»Estaba observando, cuando de pronto, fueron puestos tronos y un Anciano cargado de años se sentó para juzgar. Su vestidura era blanca como la nieve, su cabello como la más blanca lana. Se sentó sobre un trono envuelto en llamas con ruedas de fuego ardiente, y

Estuve mirando hasta que fueron puestas sillas: y un Anciano de grande edad se sentó, cuyo vestido era blanco como la nieve, y el pelo de su cabeza como lana limpia; su silla llama de fuego, sus ruedas fuego ardiente.

I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.

“I watched until thrones were placed, and one who was Ancient of Days sat. His clothing was white as snow, and the hair of his head like pure wool. His throne was fiery flames, and its wheels burning fire.

un río de fuego procedía de delante de él. Millones de ángeles estaban a su servicio y otros cientos de millones estaban parados delante de él. Luego la corte comenzó su sesión y los libros del juzgado divino fueron abiertos.

Un río de fuego procedía y salía de delante de él: millares de millares le servían, y millones de millones asistían delante de él: el Juez se sentó, y los libros se abrieron.

A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.

»Yo seguí mirando mientras escuchaba las cosas tan arrogantes que el cuerno pequeño decía. Pude ver que mataron a la cuarta bestia y que su cuerpo fue consumido por el fuego.

Yo entonces miraba á causa de la voz de las grandes palabras que hablaba el cuerno; miraba hasta tanto que mataron la bestia, y su cuerpo fué deshecho, y entregado para ser quemado en el fuego.

I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.

“I watched at that time because of the voice of the arrogant words which the horn spoke. I watched even until the animal was slain, and its body destroyed, and it was given to be burned with fire.

En cuanto a las otras tres bestias, vi que sus reinos les fueron quitados, pero se les permitió seguir viviendo por un poco de tiempo.

Habían también quitado á las otras bestias su señorío, y les había sido dada prolongación de vida hasta cierto tiempo.

As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time.

As for the rest of the animals, their dominion was taken away; yet their lives were prolonged for a season and a time.

»Luego seguí viendo en mis visiones nocturnas. Vi la llegada de uno que parecía un hombre ordinario, ¡traído sobre nubes del cielo! Se acercó al Anciano cargado de años y lo llevaron ante él.

Miraba yo en la visión de la noche, y he aquí en las nubes del cielo como un hijo de hombre que venía, y llegó hasta el Anciano de grande edad, é hiciéronle llegar delante de él.

I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.

“I saw in the night visions, and behold, there came with the clouds of the sky one like a son of man, and he came even to the Ancient of Days, and they brought him near before him.

Le dieron la facultad de gobernar, reinar y ser tratado con gran respeto en todos los pueblos, culturas y naciones del mundo, para que siguieran sus disposiciones. Su poder es inmenso, nunca se acabará, su gobierno jamás será destruido.

Y fuéle dado señorío, y gloria, y reino; y todos los pueblos, naciones y lenguas le sirvieron; su señorío, señorío eterno, que no será transitorio, y su reino que no se corromperá.

And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

Dominion was given him, and glory, and a kingdom, that all the peoples, nations, and languages should serve him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which will not pass away, and his kingdom one that will not be destroyed.

»Yo estaba confundido y turbado por todo lo que había visto,

Mi espíritu fué turbado, yo Daniel, en medio de mi cuerpo, y las visiones de mi cabeza me asombraron.

I Daniel was grieved in my spirit in the midst of my body, and the visions of my head troubled me.

“As for me, Daniel, my spirit was grieved within my body, and the visions of my head troubled me.

así que me acerqué a uno de los que estaban parados al lado del trono y le pregunté el significado de todas estas cosas, y él me las explicó:

Lleguéme á uno de los que asistían, y preguntéle la verdad acerca de todo esto. Y hablóme, y declaróme la interpretación de las cosas.

I came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth of all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things.

“Estas cuatro bestias enormes, me dijo, representan cuatro reyes que algún día reinarán sobre el mundo.

Estas grandes bestias, las cuales son cuatro, cuatro reyes son, que se levantarán en la tierra.

These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth.

‘These great animals, which are four, are four kings, who will arise out of the earth.

Pero al final los santos del Dios Altísimo dominarán los gobiernos del mundo para siempre”.

Después tomarán el reino los santos del Altísimo, y poseerán el reino hasta el siglo, y hasta el siglo de los siglos.

But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever.

But the saints of the Most High will receive the kingdom, and possess the kingdom forever, even forever and ever.’

»Entonces le pregunté acerca de la cuarta bestia que era tan diferente a todas las otras, con sus dientes de hierro y garras de bronce que devoraba a todas sus víctimas y pisoteaba las sobras.

Entonces tuve deseo de saber la verdad acerca de la cuarta bestia, que tan diferente era de todas las otras, espantosa en gran manera, que tenía dientes de hierro, y sus uñas de metal, que devoraba y desmenuzaba, y las sobras hollaba con sus pies:

Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his nails of brass; which devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet;

“Then I desired to know the truth concerning the fourth animal, which was different from all of them, exceedingly terrible, whose teeth were of iron, and its nails of bronze; which devoured, broke in pieces, and stamped the residue with its feet;

También le pregunté sobre el significado de los diez cuernos, y el cuerno pequeño que surgió después y que destruyó a tres de los otros; el cuerno con los ojos y la boca que hablaba con tanta arrogancia, el cuerno que parecía más fuerte que los otros.

Asimismo acerca de los diez cuernos que tenía en su cabeza, y del otro que había subido, de delante del cual habían caído tres: y este mismo cuerno tenía ojos, y boca que hablaba grandezas, y su parecer mayor que el de sus compañeros.

And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows.

and concerning the ten horns that were on its head and the other horn which came up, and before which three fell, even that horn that had eyes and a mouth that spoke arrogantly, whose look was more stout than its fellows.

»Porque yo había visto este cuerno luchando contra los santos de Dios y venciéndolos,

Y veía yo que este cuerno hacía guerra contra los santos, y los vencía,

I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them;

hasta que vino el Anciano cargado de años e hizo justicia al pueblo del Dios Altísimo, pues se había cumplido el tiempo para que el pueblo de Dios tomara las riendas del reino.

Hasta tanto que vino el Anciano de grande edad, y se dió el juicio á los santos del Altísimo; y vino el tiempo, y los santos poseyeron el reino.

Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.

»“Esta cuarta bestia, me dijo, es el cuarto poder que reinará sobre el mundo. Será diferente a todos los otros, más violento y terrible; devorará al mundo entero, destruyendo todo a su paso.

Dijo así: La cuarta bestia será un cuarto reino en la tierra, el cual será más grande que todos los otros reinos, y á toda la tierra devorará, y la hollará, y la despedazará.

Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.

“So he said, ‘The fourth animal will be a fourth kingdom on earth, which will be different from all the kingdoms, and will devour the whole earth, and will tread it down and break it in pieces.

Sus diez cuernos son diez reyes que reinarán en ese imperio. Luego otro rey surgirá, diferente a los otros diez, y derribará a tres de ellos.

Y los diez cuernos significan que de aquel reino se levantarán diez reyes; y tras ellos se levantará otro, el cual será mayor que los primeros, y á tres reyes derribará.

And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.

As for the ten horns, ten kings will arise out of this kingdom. Another will arise after them; and he will be different from the former, and he will put down three kings.

Él desafiará al Dios Altísimo, e irá acabando con sus santos, y tratará de cambiar todas las leyes y las fiestas religiosas del pueblo de Dios. El pueblo de Dios estará bajo su poder por tres años y medio.

Y hablará palabras contra el Altísimo, y á los santos del Altísimo quebrantará, y pensará en mudar los tiempos y la ley: y entregados serán en su mano hasta tiempo, y tiempos, y el medio de un tiempo.

And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

He will speak words against the Most High, and will wear out the saints of the Most High. He will plan to change the times and the law; and they will be given into his hand until a time and times and half a time.

Entonces los jueces se sentarán para juzgar, y al cuerno se le quitará el poder, dejándolo destruido para siempre.

Empero se sentará el juez, y quitaránle su señorío, para que sea destruído y arruinado hasta el extremo;

But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end.

“‘But the judgment will be set, and they will take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it to the end.

Luego todas las naciones debajo del cielo, con todo su poder, serán entregadas al pueblo del Dios Altísimo. Ellos reinarán para siempre, y todos los gobernantes de la tierra le servirán y obedecerán”.

Y que el reino, y el señorío, y la majestad de los reinos debajo de todo el cielo, sea dado al pueblo de los santos del Altísimo; cuyo reino es reino eterno, y todos los señoríos le servirán y obedecerán.

And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.

The kingdom and the dominion, and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole sky, will be given to the people of the saints of the Most High. His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions will serve and obey him.’

»Ese fue el fin de la visión. Y yo estaba muy turbado y mi rostro estaba pálido de miedo, pero no conté a nadie lo que había visto».

Hasta aquí fué el fin de la plática. Yo Daniel, mucho me turbaron mis pensamientos, y mi rostro se me mudó: mas guardé en mi corazón el negocio.

Hitherto is the end of the matter. As for me Daniel, my cogitations much troubled me, and my countenance changed in me: but I kept the matter in my heart.

“Here is the end of the matter. As for me, Daniel, my thoughts troubled me greatly, and my face was changed in me; but I kept the matter in my heart.”
