1Wenn in deiner Mitte ein Prophet aufsteht, oder einer, der Träume hat, und er gibt dir ein Zeichen oder ein Wunder;
2und das Zeichen oder das Wunder trifft ein, von welchem er zu dir geredet hat, indem er sprach: Laß uns anderen Göttern nachgehen (die du nicht gekannt hast) und ihnen dienen! -
3so sollst du nicht hören auf die Worte dieses Propheten oder auf den, der die Träume hat; denn Jehova, euer Gott, versucht euch, um zu erkennen, ob ihr Jehova, euren Gott, liebet mit eurem ganzen Herzen und mit eurer ganzen Seele.
4Jehova, eurem Gott, sollt ihr nachfolgen und ihn fürchten; und ihr sollt seine Gebote beobachten und seiner Stimme gehorchen und ihm dienen und ihm anhangen.
5Und jener Prophet oder jener, der die Träume hat, soll getötet werden; denn er hat Abfall geredet wider Jehova, euren Gott, der euch aus dem Lande Ägypten herausgeführt und dich erlöst hat aus dem Hause der Knechtschaft, um dich abzuleiten von dem Wege, auf welchem zu wandeln Jehova, dein Gott, dir geboten hat. Und du sollst das Böse aus deiner Mitte hinwegschaffen.
6Wenn dein Bruder, der Sohn deiner Mutter, oder dein Sohn, oder deine Tochter, oder das Weib deines Busens, oder dein Freund, der dir wie deine Seele ist, dich heimlich anreizt und spricht: Laß uns gehen und anderen Göttern dienen (die du nicht gekannt hast, du noch deine Väter,
7von den Göttern der Völker, die rings um euch her sind, nahe bei dir oder fern von dir, von einem Ende der Erde bis zum anderen Ende der Erde),
8so sollst du ihm nicht zu Willen sein und nicht auf ihn hören; und dein Auge soll seiner nicht schonen, und du sollst dich seiner nicht erbarmen noch ihn verbergen;
9sondern du sollst ihn gewißlich töten. Deine Hand soll zuerst an ihm sein, ihn zu töten, und danach die Hand des ganzen Volkes;
10und du sollst ihn steinigen, daß er sterbe. Denn er hat gesucht, dich abzuleiten von Jehova, deinem Gott, der dich herausgeführt hat aus dem Lande Ägypten, aus dem Hause der Knechtschaft.
11Und ganz Israel soll es hören und sich fürchten, damit man nicht mehr eine solche Übeltat in deiner Mitte begehe.
12Wenn du von einer deiner Städte, die Jehova, dein Gott, dir gibt, um daselbst zu wohnen, sagen hörst:
13Es sind Männer, Söhne Belials, aus deiner Mitte ausgegangen und haben die Bewohner ihrer Stadt verleitet und gesprochen: Laßt uns gehen und anderen Göttern dienen (die ihr nicht gekannt habt),
14so sollst du genau untersuchen und nachforschen und fragen; und siehe, ist es Wahrheit, steht die Sache fest, ist dieser Greuel in deiner Mitte verübt worden,
15so sollst du die Bewohner jener Stadt gewißlich schlagen mit der Schärfe des Schwertes; du sollst sie verbannen und alles, was in ihr ist, und ihr Vieh, mit der Schärfe des Schwertes.
16Und alle ihre Beute sollst du mitten auf ihren Platz zusammentragen und die Stadt und alle ihre Beute Jehova, deinem Gott, gänzlich mit Feuer verbrennen; und sie soll ein Schutthaufen sein ewiglich, sie soll nicht wieder aufgebaut werden.
17Und nicht soll irgend etwas von dem Verbannten an deiner Hand haften, auf daß Jehova sich von der Glut seines Zornes wende und dir Erbarmung gebe und sich deiner erbarme und dich mehre, so wie er deinen Vätern geschworen hat,
18wenn du der Stimme Jehovas, deines Gottes, gehorchst, alle seine Gebote zu beobachten, die ich dir heute gebiete, daß du tust, was recht ist in den Augen Jehovas, deines Gottes.

1CUANDO se levantare en medio de ti profeta, ó soñador de sueños, y te diere señal ó prodigio,
2Y acaeciere la señal ó prodigio que él te dijo, diciendo: Vamos en pos de dioses ajenos, que no conociste, y sirvámosles;
3No darás oído á las palabras de tal profeta, ni al tal soñador de sueños: porque Jehová vuestro Dios os prueba, para saber si amáis á Jehová vuestro Dios con todo vuestro corazón, y con toda vuestra alma.
4En pos de Jehová vuestro Dios andaréis, y á él temeréis, y guardaréis sus mandamientos, y escucharéis su voz, y á él serviréis, y á él os allegaréis.
5Y el tal profeta ó soñador de sueños, ha de ser muerto; por cuanto trató de rebelión contra Jehová vuestro Dios, que te sacó de tierra de Egipto, y te rescató de casa de siervos, y de echarte del camino por el que Jehová tu Dios te mandó que anduvieses: y así quitarás el mal de en medio de ti.
6Cuando te incitare tu hermano, hijo de tu madre, ó tu hijo, ó tu hija, ó la mujer de tu seno, ó tu amigo que sea como tu alma, diciendo en secreto: Vamos y sirvamos á dioses ajenos, que ni tú ni tus padres conocisteis,
7De los dioses de los pueblos que están en vuestros alrededores cercanos á ti, ó lejos de ti, desde el un cabo de la tierra hasta el otro cabo de ella;
8No consentirás con él, ni le darás oído; ni tu ojo le perdonará, ni tendrás compasión, ni lo encubrirás:
9Antes has de matarlo; tu mano será primero sobre él para matarle, y después la mano de todo el pueblo.
10Y has de apedrearlo con piedras, y morirá; por cuanto procuró apartarte de Jehová tu Dios, que te sacó de tierra de Egipto, de casa de siervos:
11Para que todo Israel oiga, y tema, y no tornen á hacer cosa semejante á esta mala cosa en medio de ti.
12Cuando oyeres de alguna de tus ciudades que Jehová tu Dios te da para que mores en ellas, que se dice:
13Hombres, hijos de impiedad, han salido de en medio de ti, que han instigado á los moradores de su ciudad, diciendo: Vamos y sirvamos á dioses ajenos, que vosotros no conocisteis;
14Tú inquirirás, y buscarás, y preguntarás con diligencia; y si pareciere verdad, cosa cierta, que tal abominación se hizo en medio de ti,
15Irremisiblemente herirás á filo de espada los moradores de aquella ciudad, destruyéndola con todo lo que en ella hubiere, y también sus bestias á filo de espada.
16Y juntarás todo el despojo de ella en medio de su plaza, y consumirás con fuego la ciudad y todo su despojo, todo ello, á Jehová tu Dios: y será un montón para siempre: nunca más se edificará.
17Y no se pegará algo á tu mano del anatema; porque Jehová se aparte del furor de su ira, y te dé mercedes, y tenga misericordia de ti, y te multiplique, como lo juró á tus padres,
18Cuando obedecieres á la voz de Jehová tu Dios, guardando todos sus mandamientos que yo te prescribo hoy, para hacer lo recto en ojos de Jehová tu Dios.

1If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder,
2And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them;
3Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
4Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.
5And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; because he hath spoken to turn you away from the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to thrust thee out of the way which the LORD thy God commanded thee to walk in. So shalt thou put the evil away from the midst of thee.
6If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers;
7Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth;
8Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him:
9But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.
10And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die; because he hath sought to thrust thee away from the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
11And all Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall do no more any such wickedness as this is among you.
12If thou shalt hear say in one of thy cities, which the LORD thy God hath given thee to dwell there, saying,
13Certain men, the children of Belial, are gone out from among you, and have withdrawn the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which ye have not known;
14Then shalt thou enquire, and make search, and ask diligently; and, behold, if it be truth, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought among you;
15Thou shalt surely smite the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly, and all that is therein, and the cattle thereof, with the edge of the sword.
16And thou shalt gather all the spoil of it into the midst of the street thereof, and shalt burn with fire the city, and all the spoil thereof every whit, for the LORD thy God: and it shall be an heap for ever; it shall not be built again.
17And there shall cleave nought of the cursed thing to thine hand: that the LORD may turn from the fierceness of his anger, and shew thee mercy, and have compassion upon thee, and multiply thee, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers;
18When thou shalt hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep all his commandments which I command thee this day, to do that which is right in the eyes of the LORD thy God.
World English Bible
1If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you, and he gives you a sign or a wonder,
2and the sign or the wonder comes to pass, of which he spoke to you, saying, “Let’s go after other gods” (which you have not known) “and let’s serve them,”
3you shall not listen to the words of that prophet, or to that dreamer of dreams; for the LORD your God is testing you, to know whether you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
4You shall walk after the LORD your God, fear him, keep his commandments, and obey his voice. You shall serve him, and cling to him.
5That prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death, because he has spoken rebellion against the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to draw you aside out of the way which the LORD your God commanded you to walk in. So you shall remove the evil from among you.
6If your brother, the son of your mother, or your son, or your daughter, or the wife of your bosom, or your friend who is as your own soul, entices you secretly, saying, “Let’s go and serve other gods”—which you have not known, you, nor your fathers;
7of the gods of the peoples who are around you, near to you, or far off from you, from the one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth—
8you shall not consent to him nor listen to him; neither shall your eye pity him, neither shall you spare, neither shall you conceal him;
9but you shall surely kill him. Your hand shall be first on him to put him to death, and afterwards the hands of all the people.
10You shall stone him to death with stones, because he has sought to draw you away from the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
11All Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall not do any more wickedness like this among you.
12If you hear about one of your cities, which the LORD your God gives you to dwell there, that
13certain wicked fellows have gone out from among you and have drawn away the inhabitants of their city, saying, “Let’s go and serve other gods,” which you have not known,
14then you shall inquire, investigate, and ask diligently. Behold, if it is true, and the thing certain, that such abomination was done among you,
15you shall surely strike the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly, with all that is therein and its livestock, with the edge of the sword.
16You shall gather all its plunder into the middle of its street, and shall burn with fire the city, with all of its plunder, to the LORD your God. It shall be a heap forever. It shall not be built again.
17Nothing of the devoted thing shall cling to your hand, that the LORD may turn from the fierceness of his anger and show you mercy, and have compassion on you and multiply you, as he has sworn to your fathers,
18when you listen to the LORD your God’s voice, to keep all his commandments which I command you today, to do that which is right in the LORD your God’s eyes.
