Deuteronomio 1

Queste sono le parole che Mosè rivolse a Israele di là dal Giordano, nel deserto, nella pianura dirimpetto a Suf, fra Paran, Tofel, Laban, Hatseroth e Di-Zahab.

ESTAS son las palabras que habló Moisés á todo Israel de esta parte del Jordán en el desierto, en el llano delante del mar Bermejo, entre Parán, y Thopel, y Labán, y Haseroth, y Dizahab.

These be the words which Moses spake unto all Israel on this side Jordan in the wilderness, in the plain over against the Red sea, between Paran, and Tophel, and Laban, and Hazeroth, and Dizahab.

These are the words which Moses spoke to all Israel beyond the Jordan in the wilderness, in the Arabah opposite Suf, between Paran, Tophel, Laban, Hazeroth, and Dizahab.

(Vi sono undici giornate dallo Horeb, per la via del monte Seir, fino a Kades-Barnea).

Il quarantesimo anno, l’undecimo mese, il primo giorno del mese, Mosè parlò ai figliuoli d’Israele, secondo tutto quello che l’Eterno gli aveva ordinato di dir loro.

Y fué, que á los cuarenta años, en el mes undécimo, al primero del mes, Moisés habló á los hijos de Israel conforme á todas las cosas que Jehová le había mandado acerca de ellos;

And it came to pass in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first day of the month, that Moses spake unto the children of Israel, according unto all that the LORD had given him in commandment unto them;

Questo avvenne dopo ch’egli ebbe sconfitto Sihon, re degli Amorei che abitava in Heshbon, e Og, re di Basan che abitava in Astaroth e in Edrei.

Después que hirió á Sehón rey de los Amorrheos, que habitaba en Hesbón, y á Og rey de Basán, que habitaba en Astarot en Edrei:

After he had slain Sihon the king of the Amorites, which dwelt in Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, which dwelt at Astaroth in Edrei:

after he had struck Sihon the king of the Amorites who lived in Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan who lived in Ashtaroth, at Edrei.

Di là dal Giordano, nel paese di Moab, Mosè cominciò a spiegare questa legge, dicendo:

De esta parte del Jordán, en tierra de Moab, resolvió Moisés declarar esta ley, diciendo:

On this side Jordan, in the land of Moab, began Moses to declare this law, saying,

L’Eterno, l’Iddio nostro, ci parlò in Horeb e ci disse: “Voi avete dimorato abbastanza in queste montagne;

Jehová nuestro Dios nos habló en Horeb, diciendo: Harto habéis estado en este monte;

The LORD our God spake unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount:

“The LORD our God spoke to us in Horeb, saying, ‘You have lived long enough at this mountain.

voltatevi, partite e andate nella contrada montuosa degli Amorei e in tutte le vicinanze, nella pianura, sui monti, nella regione bassa, nel mezzogiorno, sulla costa del mare, nel paese dei Cananei ed al Libano, fino al gran fiume, il fiume Eufrate.

Volveos, partíos é id al monte del Amorrheo, y á todas sus comarcas, en el llano, en el monte, y en los valles, y al mediodía, y á la costa de la mar, á la tierra del Cananeo, y el Líbano, hasta el gran río, el río Eufrates.

Turn you, and take your journey, and go to the mount of the Amorites, and unto all the places nigh thereunto, in the plain, in the hills, and in the vale, and in the south, and by the sea side, to the land of the Canaanites, and unto Lebanon, unto the great river, the river Euphrates.

Turn, and take your journey, and go to the hill country of the Amorites and to all the places near there: in the Arabah, in the hill country, in the lowland, in the South, by the seashore, in the land of the Canaanites, and in Lebanon as far as the great river, the river Euphrates.

Ecco, io v’ho posto il paese dinanzi; entrate, prendete possesso del paese che l’Eterno giurò di dare ai vostri padri, Abrahamo, Isacco e Giacobbe, e alla loro progenie dopo di loro”.

Mirad, yo he dado la tierra en vuestra presencia; entrad y poseed la tierra que Jehová juró á vuestros padres Abraham, Isaac, y Jacob, que les daría á ellos y á su simiente después de ellos.

Behold, I have set the land before you: go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give unto them and to their seed after them.

Behold, I have set the land before you. Go in and possess the land which the LORD swore to your fathers—to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob—to give to them and to their offspring after them.’”

In quel tempo io vi parlai e vi dissi: “Io non posso da solo sostenere il carico del popolo.

Y yo os hablé entonces, diciendo: Yo no puedo llevaros solo:

And I spake unto you at that time, saying, I am not able to bear you myself alone:

I spoke to you at that time, saying, “I am not able to bear you myself alone.

L’Eterno, ch’è il vostro Dio, vi ha moltiplicati, ed ecco che oggi siete numerosi come le stelle del cielo.

Jehová vuestro Dios os ha multiplicado, y he aquí sois hoy vosotros como las estrellas del cielo en multitud.

The LORD your God hath multiplied you, and, behold, ye are this day as the stars of heaven for multitude.

The LORD your God has multiplied you, and behold, you are today as the stars of the sky for multitude.

L’Eterno, l’Iddio de’ vostri padri vi aumenti anche mille volte di più, e vi benedica come vi ha promesso di fare!

¡Jehová Dios de vuestros padres añada sobre vosotros como sois mil veces, y os bendiga, como os ha prometido!

(The LORD God of your fathers make you a thousand times so many more as ye are, and bless you, as he hath promised you!)

May the LORD, the God of your fathers, make you a thousand times as many as you are and bless you, as he has promised you!

Ma come posso io, da solo, portare il vostro carico, il vostro peso e le vostre liti?

¿Cómo llevaré yo solo vuestras molestias, vuestras cargas, y vuestros pleitos?

How can I myself alone bear your cumbrance, and your burden, and your strife?

How can I myself alone bear your problems, your burdens, and your strife?

Prendete nelle vostre tribù degli uomini savi, intelligenti e conosciuti, e io ve li stabilirò come capi”.

Dadme de entre vosotros, de vuestras tribus, varones sabios y entendidos y expertos, para que yo los ponga por vuestros jefes.

Take you wise men, and understanding, and known among your tribes, and I will make them rulers over you.

Take wise men of understanding who are respected among your tribes, and I will make them heads over you.”

E voi mi rispondeste, dicendo: “E’ bene che facciamo quel che tu proponi”.

Y me respondisteis, y dijisteis: Bueno es hacer lo que has dicho.

And ye answered me, and said, The thing which thou hast spoken is good for us to do.

You answered me, and said, “The thing which you have spoken is good to do.”

Allora presi i capi delle vostre tribù, uomini savi e conosciuti, e li stabilii sopra voi come capi di migliaia, capi di centinaia, capi di cinquantine, capi di diecine, e come ufficiali nelle vostre tribù.

Y tomé los principales de vuestras tribus, varones sabios y expertos, y púselos por jefes sobre vosotros, jefes de millares, y jefes de cientos, y jefes de cincuenta, y cabos de diez, y gobernadores á vuestras tribus.

So I took the chief of your tribes, wise men, and known, and made them heads over you, captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, and captains over fifties, and captains over tens, and officers among your tribes.

So I took the heads of your tribes, wise and respected men, and made them heads over you, captains of thousands, captains of hundreds, captains of fifties, captains of tens, and officers, according to your tribes.

E in quel tempo detti quest’ordine ai vostri giudici: “Ascoltate le cause de’ vostri fratelli, e giudicate con giustizia le questioni che uno può avere col fratello o con lo straniero che sta da lui.

Y entonces mandé á vuestros jueces, diciendo: Oid entre vuestros hermanos, y juzgad justamente entre el hombre y su hermano, y el que le es extranjero.

And I charged your judges at that time, saying, Hear the causes between your brethren, and judge righteously between every man and his brother, and the stranger that is with him.

I commanded your judges at that time, saying, “Hear cases between your brothers and judge righteously between a man and his brother, and the foreigner who is living with him.

Nei vostri giudizi non avrete riguardi personali; darete ascolto al piccolo come al grande; non temerete alcun uomo, poiché il giudicio appartiene a Dio; e le cause troppo difficili per voi le recherete a me, e io le udirò”.

No tengáis respeto de personas en el juicio: así al pequeño como al grande oiréis: no tendréis temor de ninguno, porque el juicio es de Dios: y la causa que os fuere difícil, la traeréis á mí, y yo la oiré.

Ye shall not respect persons in judgment; but ye shall hear the small as well as the great; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God’s: and the cause that is too hard for you, bring it unto me, and I will hear it.

You shall not show partiality in judgment; you shall hear the small and the great alike. You shall not be afraid of the face of man, for the judgment is God’s. The case that is too hard for you, you shall bring to me, and I will hear it.”

Così, in quel tempo, io vi ordinai tutte le cose che dovevate fare.

Os mandé, pues, en aquel tiempo todo lo que habíais de hacer.

And I commanded you at that time all the things which ye should do.

Poi partimmo dallo Horeb e attraversammo tutto quel grande e spaventevole deserto che avete veduto, dirigendoci verso la contrada montuosa degli Amorei, come l’Eterno, l’Iddio nostro, ci aveva ordinato di fare, e giungemmo a Kades-Barnea.

Y partidos de Horeb, anduvimos todo aquel grande y terrible desierto que habéis visto, por el camino del monte del Amorrheo, como Jehová nuestro Dios nos lo mandó; y llegamos hasta Cades-barnea.

And when we departed from Horeb, we went through all that great and terrible wilderness, which ye saw by the way of the mountain of the Amorites, as the LORD our God commanded us; and we came to Kadesh-barnea.

We traveled from Horeb and went through all that great and terrible wilderness which you saw, by the way to the hill country of the Amorites, as the LORD our God commanded us; and we came to Kadesh Barnea.

Allora vi dissi: Siete arrivati alla contrada montuosa degli Amorei, che l’Eterno, l’Iddio nostro, ci dà.

Entonces os dije: Llegado habéis al monte del Amorrheo, el cual Jehová nuestro Dios nos da.

And I said unto you, Ye are come unto the mountain of the Amorites, which the LORD our God doth give unto us.

I said to you, “You have come to the hill country of the Amorites, which the LORD our God gives to us.

Ecco, l’Eterno, il tuo Dio, t’ha posto il paese dinanzi; sali, prendine possesso, come l’Eterno, l’Iddio de’ tuoi padri, t’ha detto; non temere, e non ti spaventare”.

Mira, Jehová tu Dios ha dado delante de ti la tierra: sube y poséela, como Jehová el Dios de tus padres te ha dicho; no temas ni desmayes.

Behold, the LORD thy God hath set the land before thee: go up and possess it, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath said unto thee; fear not, neither be discouraged.

Behold, the LORD your God has set the land before you. Go up, take possession, as the LORD the God of your fathers has spoken to you. Don’t be afraid, neither be dismayed.”

E voi vi accostaste a me tutti quanti, e diceste: “Mandiamo degli uomini davanti a noi, che ci esplorino il paese, e ci riferiscano qualcosa del cammino per il quale noi dovremo salire, e delle città alle quali dovremo arrivare”.

Y llegasteis á mí todos vosotros, y dijisteis: Enviemos varones delante de nosotros, que nos reconozcan la tierra y nos traigan de vuelta razón del camino por donde hemos de subir, y de las ciudades adonde hemos de llegar.

And ye came near unto me every one of you, and said, We will send men before us, and they shall search us out the land, and bring us word again by what way we must go up, and into what cities we shall come.

You came near to me, everyone of you, and said, “Let’s send men before us, that they may search the land for us, and bring back to us word of the way by which we must go up, and the cities to which we shall come.”

La cosa mi piacque, e presi dodici uomini tra voi, uno per tribù.

Y el dicho me pareció bien: y tomé doce varones de vosotros, un varón por tribu:

And the saying pleased me well: and I took twelve men of you, one of a tribe:

The thing pleased me well. I took twelve of your men, one man for every tribe.

Quelli s’incamminarono, salirono verso i monti, giunsero alla valle d’Eshcol, ed esplorarono il paese.

Y se encaminaron, y subieron al monte, y llegaron hasta la arroyada de Escol, y reconocieron la tierra.

And they turned and went up into the mountain, and came unto the valley of Eshcol, and searched it out.

They turned and went up into the hill country, and came to the valley of Eshcol, and spied it out.

Presero con le loro mani de’ frutti del paese, ce li portarono, e ci fecero la loro relazione dicendo: “Quello che l’Eterno, il nostro Dio, ci dà, è un buon paese”.

Y tomaron en sus manos del fruto del país, y nos lo trajeron, y diéronnos cuenta, y dijeron: Es buena la tierra que Jehová nuestro Dios nos da.

And they took of the fruit of the land in their hands, and brought it down unto us, and brought us word again, and said, It is a good land which the LORD our God doth give us.

They took some of the fruit of the land in their hands and brought it down to us, and brought us word again, and said, “It is a good land which the LORD our God gives to us.”

Ma voi non voleste salirvi, e vi ribellaste all’ordine dell’Eterno, del vostro Dio;

Empero no quisisteis subir, antes fuisteis rebeldes al dicho de Jehová vuestro Dios;

Notwithstanding ye would not go up, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God:

Yet you wouldn’t go up, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God.

mormoraste nelle vostre tende, e diceste: “L’Eterno ci odia, per questo ci ha fatti uscire dal paese d’Egitto per darci in mano agli Amorei e per distruggerci.

Y murmurasteis en vuestras tiendas, diciendo: Porque Jehová nos aborrecía, nos ha sacado de tierra de Egipto, para entregarnos en mano del Amorrheo para destruirnos.

And ye murmured in your tents, and said, Because the LORD hated us, he hath brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us.

You murmured in your tents, and said, “Because the LORD hated us, he has brought us out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites to destroy us.

Dove saliam noi? I nostri fratelli ci han fatto struggere il cuore, dicendo: Quella gente è più grande e più alta di noi; le città vi sono grandi e fortificate fino al cielo; e abbiam perfino visto colà de’ figliuoli degli Anakim”.

¿A dónde subimos? Nuestros hermanos han hecho desfallecer nuestro corazón, diciendo: Este pueblo es mayor y más alto que nosotros, las ciudades grandes y muradas hasta el cielo; y también vimos allí hijos de gigantes.

Whither shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people is greater and taller than we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there.

Where are we going up? Our brothers have made our heart melt, saying, ‘The people are greater and taller than we. The cities are great and fortified up to the sky. Moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakim there!’”

E io vi dissi: “Non vi sgomentate, e non abbiate paura di loro.

Entonces os dije: No temáis, ni tengáis miedo de ellos.

Then I said unto you, Dread not, neither be afraid of them.

Then I said to you, “Don’t be terrified. Don’t be afraid of them.

L’Eterno, l’Iddio vostro che va davanti a voi, combatterà egli stesso per voi, come ha fatto tante volte sotto gli occhi vostri, in Egitto,

Jehová vuestro Dios, el cual va delante de vosotros, él peleará por vosotros, conforme á todas las cosas que hizo por vosotros en Egipto delante de vuestros ojos;

The LORD your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes;

The LORD your God, who goes before you, he will fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes,

e nel deserto, dove hai veduto come l’Eterno, il tuo Dio, ti ha portato come un uomo porta il suo figliuolo, per tutto il cammino che avete fatto, finché siete arrivati a questo luogo”.

Y en el desierto has visto que Jehová tu Dios te ha traído, como trae el hombre á su hijo, por todo el camino que habéis andado, hasta que habéis venido á este lugar.

And in the wilderness, where thou hast seen how that the LORD thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place.

and in the wilderness where you have seen how that the LORD your God carried you, as a man carries his son, in all the way that you went, until you came to this place.”

Nonostante questo non aveste fiducia nell’Eterno, nell’Iddio vostro,

Y aun con esto no creisteis en Jehová vuestro Dios,

Yet in this thing ye did not believe the LORD your God,

Yet in this thing you didn’t believe the LORD your God,

che andava innanzi a voi nel cammino per cercarvi un luogo da piantar le tende: di notte, nel fuoco per mostrarvi la via per la quale dovevate andare, e, di giorno, nella nuvola.

El cual iba delante de vosotros por el camino, para reconoceros el lugar donde habíais de asentar el campo, con fuego de noche para mostraros el camino por donde anduvieseis, y con nube de día.

Who went in the way before you, to search you out a place to pitch your tents in, in fire by night, to shew you by what way ye should go, and in a cloud by day.

who went before you on the way, to seek out a place for you to pitch your tents in: in fire by night, to show you by what way you should go, and in the cloud by day.

E l’Eterno udì le vostre parole, si adirò gravemente, e giurò dicendo:

Y oyó Jehová la voz de vuestras palabras, y enojóse, y juró diciendo:

And the LORD heard the voice of your words, and was wroth, and sware, saying,

The LORD heard the voice of your words and was angry, and swore, saying,

“Certo, nessuno degli uomini di questa malvagia generazione vedrà il buon paese che ho giurato di dare ai vostri padri,

No verá hombre alguno de estos de esta mala generación, la buena tierra que juré había de dar á vuestros padres,

Surely there shall not one of these men of this evil generation see that good land, which I sware to give unto your fathers,

“Surely not one of these men of this evil generation shall see the good land which I swore to give to your fathers,

salvo Caleb, figliuolo di Gefunne. Egli lo vedrà; e a lui e ai suoi figliuoli darò la terra che egli ha calcato, perché ha pienamente seguito l’Eterno”.

Excepto Caleb hijo de Jephone: él la verá, y á él le daré la tierra que pisó, y á sus hijos; porque cumplió en pos de Jehová.

Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him will I give the land that he hath trodden upon, and to his children, because he hath wholly followed the LORD.

except Caleb the son of Jephunneh. He shall see it. I will give the land that he has trodden on to him and to his children, because he has wholly followed the LORD.”

Anche contro a me l’Eterno si adirò per via di voi, e disse: “Neanche tu v’entrerai;

Y también contra mí se airó Jehová por vosotros, diciendo: Tampoco tú entrarás allá:

Also the LORD was angry with me for your sakes, saying, Thou also shalt not go in thither.

Also the LORD was angry with me for your sakes, saying, “You also shall not go in there.

Giosuè, figliuolo di Nun, che ti serve, v’entrerà; fortificalo, perch’egli metterà Israele in possesso di questo paese.

Josué hijo de Nun, que está delante de ti, él entrará allá: anímale; porque él la hará heredar á Israel.

But Joshua the son of Nun, which standeth before thee, he shall go in thither: encourage him: for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.

Joshua the son of Nun, who stands before you, shall go in there. Encourage him, for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.

E i vostri fanciulli, de’ quali avete detto: Diventeranno tanta preda! e i vostri figliuoli, che oggi non conoscono né il bene né il male, sono quelli che v’entreranno; a loro lo darò, e saranno essi che lo possederanno.

Y vuestros chiquitos, de los cuales dijisteis serán por presa, y vuestros hijos que no saben hoy bueno ni malo, ellos entrarán allá, y á ellos la daré, y ellos la heredarán.

Moreover your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, and your children, which in that day had no knowledge between good and evil, they shall go in thither, and unto them will I give it, and they shall possess it.

Moreover your little ones, whom you said would be captured or killed, your children, who today have no knowledge of good or evil, shall go in there. I will give it to them, and they shall possess it.

Ma voi, tornate indietro e avviatevi verso il deserto, in direzione del mar Rosso”.

Y vosotros volveos, y partíos al desierto camino del mar Bermejo.

But as for you, turn you, and take your journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea.

But as for you, turn, and take your journey into the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea.”

Allora voi rispondeste, dicendomi: “Abbiam peccato contro l’Eterno; noi saliremo e combatteremo, interamente come l’Eterno, l’Iddio nostro, ci ha ordinato”. E ognun di voi cinse le armi, e vi metteste temerariamente a salire verso i monti.

Entonces respondisteis y me dijisteis: Pecado hemos contra Jehová; nosotros subiremos y pelearemos, conforme á todo lo que Jehová nuestro Dios nos ha mandado. Y os armasteis cada uno de sus armas de guerra, y os apercibisteis para subir al monte.

Then ye answered and said unto me, We have sinned against the LORD, we will go up and fight, according to all that the LORD our God commanded us. And when ye had girded on every man his weapons of war, ye were ready to go up into the hill.

Then you answered and said to me, “We have sinned against the LORD. We will go up and fight, according to all that the LORD our God commanded us.” Every man of you put on his weapons of war, and presumed to go up into the hill country.

E l’Eterno mi disse: “Di’ loro: Non salite, e non combattete, perché io non sono in mezzo a voi; voi sareste sconfitti davanti ai vostri nemici”.

Y Jehová me dijo: Diles: No subáis, ni peleéis, pues no estoy entre vosotros; porque no seáis heridos delante de vuestros enemigos.

And the LORD said unto me, Say unto them, Go not up, neither fight; for I am not among you; lest ye be smitten before your enemies.

The LORD said to me, “Tell them, ‘Don’t go up and don’t fight; for I am not among you, lest you be struck before your enemies.’”

Io ve lo dissi, ma voi non mi deste ascolto; anzi foste ribelli all’ordine dell’Eterno, foste presuntuosi, e vi metteste a salire verso i monti.

Y os hablé, y no disteis oído; antes fuisteis rebeldes al dicho de Jehová, y persistiendo con altivez, subisteis al monte.

So I spake unto you; and ye would not hear, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD, and went presumptuously up into the hill.

So I spoke to you, and you didn’t listen; but you rebelled against the commandment of the LORD, and were presumptuous, and went up into the hill country.

Allora gli Amorei, che abitano quella contrada montuosa, uscirono contro a voi, v’inseguirono come fanno le api, e vi batterono in Seir fino a Horma.

Y salió el Amorrheo, que habitaba en aquel monte, á vuestro encuentro, y os persiguieron, como hacen las avispas, y os derrotaron en Seir, persiguiéndoos hasta Horma.

And the Amorites, which dwelt in that mountain, came out against you, and chased you, as bees do, and destroyed you in Seir, even unto Hormah.

The Amorites, who lived in that hill country, came out against you and chased you as bees do, and beat you down in Seir, even to Hormah.

E voi tornaste e piangeste davanti all’Eterno; ma l’Eterno non dette ascolto alla vostra voce e non vi porse orecchio.

Y volvisteis, y llorasteis delante de Jehová; pero Jehová no escuchó vuestra voz, ni os prestó oído.

And ye returned and wept before the LORD; but the LORD would not hearken to your voice, nor give ear unto you.

You returned and wept before the LORD, but the LORD didn’t listen to your voice, nor turn his ear to you.

Così rimaneste in Kades molti giorni; e ben sapete quanti giorni vi siete rimasti.

Y estuvisteis en Cades por muchos días, como en los días que habéis estado.

So ye abode in Kadesh many days, according unto the days that ye abode there.

So you stayed in Kadesh many days, according to the days that you remained.
