Deuteronomio 25

O juiz poderá lhe dar quarenta golpes, mas ele não poderá exceder esse número; pois, se ele exceder esse número e lhe der mais golpes, então, teu companheiro israelita será humilhado aos teus olhos.

Harále dar cuarenta azotes, no más: no sea que, si lo hiriere con muchos azotes á más de éstos, se envilezca tu hermano delante de tus ojos.

Forty stripes he may give him, and not exceed: lest, if he should exceed, and beat him above these with many stripes, then thy brother should seem vile unto thee.

He may sentence him to no more than forty stripes. He shall not give more, lest if he should give more and beat him more than that many stripes, then your brother will be degraded in your sight.
