PARA todas las cosas hay sazón, y todo lo que se quiere debajo del cielo, tiene su tiempo:

Realmente, ¿qué se obtiene del mucho trabajar?
¿Qué provecho tiene el que trabaja en lo que trabaja?
What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth?
What profit has he who works in that in which he labors?
He meditado esto en relación con las diversas clases de trabajo que Dios ha dado a los humanos.
Yo he visto el trabajo que Dios ha dado á los hijos de los hombres para que en él se ocupasen.
I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it.
I have seen the burden which God has given to the sons of men to be afflicted with.
Todo está bien en su momento oportuno. Pero si bien Dios ha plantado la eternidad en el corazón de todo hombre y mujer, el ser humano es incapaz de una plena visión de la obra de Dios de principio a fin.
Todo lo hizo hermoso en su tiempo: y aun el mundo dió en su corazón, de tal manera que no alcance el hombre la obra de Dios desde el principio hasta el cabo.
He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in their hearts, yet so that man can’t find out the work that God has done from the beginning even to the end.
Llego así a esta conclusión: primero, que no hay para el ser humano nada mejor que ser feliz y pasarla bien mientras pueda;
Yo he conocido que no hay mejor para ellos, que alegrarse, y hacer bien en su vida:
I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life.
I know that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice, and to do good as long as they live.
segundo, que debe comer, beber y disfrutar del fruto de su trabajo, pues estos son dones de Dios.
Y también que es don de Dios que todo hombre coma y beba, y goce el bien de toda su labor.
And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.
Also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy good in all his labor, is the gift of God.
Y esto sé: que todo lo que Dios hace permanece para siempre; nada puede añadírsele ni quitársele; lo que Dios se propone es que el ser humano le tema.
He entendido que todo lo que Dios hace, eso será perpetuo: sobre aquello no se añadirá, ni de ello se disminuirá; y hácelo Dios, para que delante de él teman los hombres.
I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.

Lo que ahora existe ya existía, y lo que va a existir, existe ya. Dios hace que la historia se repita.
Aquello que fué, ya es: y lo que ha de ser, fué ya; y Dios restaura lo que pasó.
That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past.
That which is has been long ago, and that which is to be has been long ago. God seeks again that which is passed away.
Además, observo que en toda la tierra la justicia está cediendo ante el crimen y que hasta los tribunales de justicia están corrompidos.
Vi más debajo del sol: en lugar del juicio, allí la impiedad; y en lugar de la justicia, allí la iniquidad.
And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there.

Entonces me dije: «A su tiempo juzgará Dios cuanto hace la gente: lo bueno y lo malo».
Y dije yo en mi corazón: Al justo y al impío juzgará Dios; porque allí hay tiempo á todo lo que se quiere y sobre todo lo que se hace.

Y entonces me di cuenta de que Dios permite que el mundo siga su mal camino para poner a prueba a la humanidad, y para que los seres humanos mismos comprendan que no son mejores que las bestias.
Dije en mi corazón, en orden á la condición de los hijos de los hombres, que Dios los probaría, para que así echaran de ver ellos mismos que son semejantes á las bestias.
I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts.
I said in my heart, “As for the sons of men, God tests them, so that they may see that they themselves are like animals.
Porque humanos y animales respiran el mismo aire y unos y otros mueren. De modo que la humanidad no tiene verdadera superioridad sobre las bestias; ¡qué absurdo!

A un mismo sitio van todos: al polvo de donde salieron y al cual han de volver.

Pues ¿quién podrá demostrar que el espíritu del ser humano va a lo alto y que el de los animales desciende al polvo?
¿Quién sabe que el espíritu de los hijos de los hombres suba arriba, y que el espíritu del animal descienda debajo de la tierra?
Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?

Comprendí entonces que no hay para los hombres nada mejor que ser felices en su trabajo, porque para eso están aquí, y nadie puede volverlos a la vida para que disfruten lo que haya de existir en el futuro; por tanto, que lo disfruten ahora.
Así que he visto que no hay cosa mejor que alegrarse el hombre con lo que hiciere; porque esta es su parte: porque ¿quién lo llevará para que vea lo que ha de ser después de él?
Wherefore I perceive that there is nothing better, than that a man should rejoice in his own works; for that is his portion: for who shall bring him to see what shall be after him?
