J'ai observé la besogne que Dieu a assignée aux fils d'Adam pour se fatiguer en efforts.
Yo he visto el trabajo que Dios ha dado á los hijos de los hombres para que en él se ocupasen.
I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it.

Il a fait toute chose excellente à son heure; il a mis aussi dans le cœur de l'homme le sens de la durée, sans quoi celui-ci ne saisirait point l'œuvre accomplie par Dieu du commencement à la fin.
Todo lo hizo hermoso en su tiempo: y aun el mundo dió en su corazón, de tal manera que no alcance el hombre la obra de Dios desde el principio hasta el cabo.
He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.

J'ai reconnu qu'il n'y a pas de plus grand bien que de s'égayer et de se faire une vie heureuse.
Yo he conocido que no hay mejor para ellos, que alegrarse, y hacer bien en su vida:
I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life.

Et toutes les fois que l'homme mange et boit, jouissant du bien-être qu'il doit à son labeur, c'est là un don de Dieu.
Y también que es don de Dios que todo hombre coma y beba, y goce el bien de toda su labor.

J'ai reconnu aussi que tout ce que Dieu fait restera ainsi éternellement: il n'y a rien à y ajouter, rien à en retrancher: Dieu a arrangé les choses de telle sorte qu'on le craigne.
He entendido que todo lo que Dios hace, eso será perpetuo: sobre aquello no se añadirá, ni de ello se disminuirá; y hácelo Dios, para que delante de él teman los hombres.

Voici encore ce que j'ai vu sous le soleil: dans l'enceinte de la justice domine l'iniquité; au siège du droit triomphe l'injustice.

Ensuite j'ai réfléchi à cette prétention des hommes d'être l'objet des préférences de Dieu, et j'ai vu que, considérés en eux-mêmes, ils sont comme les animaux.

Qui peut savoir si le souffle des fils d'Adam monte en haut, tandis que le souffle des animaux descend en bas, vers la terre?
¿Quién sabe que el espíritu de los hijos de los hombres suba arriba, y que el espíritu del animal descienda debajo de la tierra?

Par là je vois bien que le meilleur parti à prendre pour l'homme, c'est de se réjouir de ses œuvres, puisque c'est là son lot; car qui le ramènera un jour pour voir ce qui se passera après lui?
Así que he visto que no hay cosa mejor que alegrarse el hombre con lo que hiciere; porque esta es su parte: porque ¿quién lo llevará para que vea lo que ha de ser después de él?
