Eclesiastés 6

Es gibt ein Übel, das ich gesehen habe unter Sonne, und es ist mächtig auf dem Menschen:

Jemand, dem Gott Reichtum und Güter und Ehre gibt, und nichts fehlt ihm hinsichtlich seiner Seele von allem, was er begehrt, aber ermächtigt ihn nicht, davon zu genießen, denn jemand fremdes genießt es. Das ist Hauch und ein böses Übel.

Hombre á quien Dios dió riquezas, y hacienda, y honra, y nada le falta de todo lo que su alma desea; mas Dios no le dió facultad de comer de ello, sino que los extraños se lo comen. Esto vanidad es, y enfermedad trabajosa.

A man to whom God hath given riches, wealth, and honour, so that he wanteth nothing for his soul of all that he desireth, yet God giveth him not power to eat thereof, but a stranger eateth it: this is vanity, and it is an evil disease.

Wenn jemand Hundert zeugt und viele Jahre lebt und die Tage seiner Jahre viele werden, aber seine Seele nicht satt wird vom Guten und auch sein Grab nicht wird für ihn, sage ich: Eine Fehlgeburt ist besser †dran als er.

Si el hombre engendrare ciento, y viviere muchos años, y los días de su edad fueren numerosos; si su alma no se hartó del bien, y también careció de sepultura, yo digo que el abortivo es mejor que él.

If a man beget an hundred children, and live many years, so that the days of his years be many, and his soul be not filled with good, and also that he have no burial; I say, that an untimely birth is better than he.

Denn im Hauch kommt sie und in der Finsternis geht sie, und in der Finsternis bleibt ihr Name verhüllt.

Porque en vano vino, y á tinieblas va, y con tinieblas será cubierto su nombre.

For he cometh in with vanity, and departeth in darkness, and his name shall be covered with darkness.

Auch die Sonne hat sie nicht gesehen, und kennt sich nicht. Diese hat mehr Ruhe als jener.

Und wenn zweimal tausend Jahre lebt, aber Gutes nicht gesehen hat, geht nicht das alles an einen (denselben) Ort?

Porque si viviere aquél mil años dos veces, si no ha gozado del bien, cierto todos van á un lugar.

Alle Mühe des Menschen ist für seinen Mund, aber die Seele (sein Appetit) wird davon auch nicht satt (gestillt).

Todo el trabajo del hombre es para su boca, y con todo eso su alma no se harta.

All the labour of man is for his mouth, and yet the appetite is not filled.

Denn was bleibt dem Weisen mehr übrig als dem Toren? Was dem Armen der zu laufen weiß vor den Lebenden?

Porque ¿qué más tiene el sabio que el necio? ¿qué más tiene el pobre que supo caminar entre los vivos?

For what hath the wise more than the fool? what hath the poor, that knoweth to walk before the living?

Besser die Sicht der Augen als das Umhergehen der Seele (Begierde), auch das ist Hauch und Haschen nach Wind!

Más vale vista de ojos que deseo que pasa. Y también esto es vanidad y aflicción de espíritu.

Better is the sight of the eyes than the wandering of the desire: this is also vanity and vexation of spirit.

Was geschieht ist bereits bei seinem Namen gerufen/genannt, und es ist bekannt, was ein Mensch, und nicht kann er rechten mit dem, der stärker ist als er.

El que es, ya su nombre ha sido nombrado; y se sabe que es hombre, y que no podrá contender con el que es más fuerte que él.

That which hath been is named already, and it is known that it is man: neither may he contend with him that is mightier than he.

Whatever has been, its name was given long ago; and it is known what man is; neither can he contend with him who is mightier than he.

Denn es gibt viele Worte, die den Hauch vermehren, was bleibt übrig für den Menschen?

Ciertamente las muchas palabras multiplican la vanidad. ¿Qué más tiene el hombre?

Seeing there be many things that increase vanity, what is man the better?

For there are many words that create vanity. What does that profit man?

Denn wer weiß, was gut ist für den Menschen im Leben, in der Menge der Tage seines vergänglichen Lebens, die †Tage sind wie der Schatten, denn wer kann dem Menschen erzählen, was nach ihm sein wird unter der Sonne?

Porque ¿quién sabe cuál es el bien del hombre en la vida, todos los días de la vida de su vanidad, los cuales él pasa como sombra? Porque ¿quién enseñará al hombre qué será después de él debajo del sol?

For who knoweth what is good for man in this life, all the days of his vain life which he spendeth as a shadow? for who can tell a man what shall be after him under the sun?
