Quem é como o sábio? Quem sabe compreender as coisas? A sabedoria ilumina o rosto do homem e abranda o seu olhar carregado.
¿QUIÉN como el sabio? ¿y quién como el que sabe la declaración de las cosas? La sabiduría del hombre hará relucir su rostro, y mudaráse la tosquedad de su semblante.
Who is as the wise man? and who knoweth the interpretation of a thing? a man’s wisdom maketh his face to shine, and the boldness of his face shall be changed.

Este é o meu conselho: Obedeça ao rei como você prometeu diante de Deus.
Yo te aviso que guardes el mandamiento del rey y la palabra del juramento de Dios.
I counsel thee to keep the king’s commandment, and that in regard of the oath of God.

Não se apresse em sair da presença dele, nem insista em fazer alguma coisa má, visto que o rei castiga aqueles que desobedecem às suas ordens.
No te apresures á irte de delante de él, ni en cosa mala persistas; porque él hará todo lo que quisiere:
Be not hasty to go out of his sight: stand not in an evil thing; for he doeth whatsoever pleaseth him.
Don’t be hasty to go out of his presence. Don’t persist in an evil thing, for he does whatever pleases him,
As ordens do rei são soberanas, e ninguém pode lhe perguntar: “O que o senhor está fazendo?”
Pues la palabra del rey es con potestad, ¿y quién le dirá, Qué haces?
Where the word of a king is, there is power: and who may say unto him, What doest thou?
for the king’s word is supreme. Who can say to him, “What are you doing?”
Aqueles que obedecerem ao rei não serão castigados, pois o homem sábio vai achar o tempo e o modo certo de agir.
El que guarda el mandamiento no experimentará mal; y el tiempo y el juicio conoce el corazón del sabio.
Whoso keepeth the commandment shall feel no evil thing: and a wise man’s heart discerneth both time and judgment.

Sim, há um tempo e um modo certo para cada situação, embora os sofrimentos do homem sejam um grande peso para as suas costas,

já que ninguém conhece o futuro. Quem pode lhe dizer o que vai acontecer?

Ninguém tem poder para dominar o próprio espírito nem para se manter vivo para sempre ou evitar o dia de sua morte! Nessa batalha não há descanso! E a maldade do homem não vai ajudá-lo a escapar do dia da morte.
No hay hombre que tenga potestad sobre el espíritu para retener el espíritu, ni potestad sobre el día de la muerte: y no valen armas en tal guerra; ni la impiedad librará al que la posee.

Pensei muito sobre o que acontece debaixo do sol, onde as pessoas têm o poder de prejudicar umas às outras.

Pelo fato de Deus não castigar imediatamente os pecadores, o coração do homem pensa que não há problema em fazer o mal.

Os maus, no entanto, não terão uma vida longa e feliz, porque não temem a Deus, e os seus dias passarão depressa como sombras.

Há uma coisa sem sentido na terra: Muitas vezes os justos recebem o que os perversos merecem, e os maus recebem o que os justos merecem. Isso também não faz sentido!
Hay vanidad que se hace sobre la tierra: que hay justos á quienes sucede como si hicieran obras de impíos; y hay impíos á quienes acaece como si hicieran obras de justos. Digo que esto también es vanidad.

Por isso, desfrute da vida, porque debaixo do sol não há nada melhor para o homem do que comer, beber e se alegrar. E em tudo isso há a esperança de que essas coisas boas o acompanhem durante todo o tempo em que ele se esforça no trabalho que Deus lhe der debaixo do sol!

Procurando a sabedoria, observei tudo o que acontecia em toda a terra — uma atividade contínua, dia e noite, sem parar.

É claro que só Deus pode ver tudo. Ninguém é capaz de entender o que se faz debaixo do sol. Por mais que se esforce para descobrir o sentido das coisas, o homem não o encontrará. O sábio pode até dizer que consegue compreender, mas na realidade ele não entende.
Y he visto todas las obras de Dios, que el hombre no puede alcanzar la obra que debajo del sol se hace; por mucho que trabaje el hombre buscándola, no la hallará: aunque diga el sabio que la sabe, no por eso podrá alcanzarla.
