En effet, tout ceci, je l'ai pris à cœur, et j'ai cherché à me le rendre clair ; à savoir que les justes et les sages et leurs actes sont dans la main de Dieu ; l'homme ne sait pas s'il aimera ou s'il haïra ; tout est possible ;

CIERTAMENTE dado he mi corazón á todas estas cosas, para declarar todo esto: que los justos y los sabios, y sus obras, están en la mano de Dios; y que no sabe el hombre ni el amor ni el odio por todo lo que pasa delante de él.

For all this I considered in my heart even to declare all this, that the righteous, and the wise, and their works, are in the hand of God: no man knoweth either love or hatred by all that is before them.

tout peut arriver à tous : même sort pour le juste et pour le méchant ; pour l'homme bon et pur, et pour celui qui est souillé ; pour celui qui fait des sacrifices, et pour celui qui n'en fait pas ; il en est de l'homme de bien comme du pécheur, de celui qui jure comme de celui qui craint de jurer.

Todo acontece de la misma manera á todos: un mismo suceso ocurre al justo y al impío; al bueno y al limpio y al no limpio; al que sacrifica, y al que no sacrifica: como el bueno, así el que peca; el que jura, como el que teme el juramento.

All things come alike to all: there is one event to the righteous, and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him that sacrificeth, and to him that sacrificeth not: as is the good, so is the sinner; and he that sweareth, as he that feareth an oath.

C'est là une chose fâcheuse dans tout ce qui a lieu sous le soleil, qu'un même sort soit pour tous. Aussi le cœur des fils des hommes est-il plein de méchanceté ; la folie est dans leur cœur tant qu'ils vivent ; et, après cela, chez les morts !

Este mal hay entre todo lo que se hace debajo del sol, que todos tengan un mismo suceso, y también que el corazón de los hijos de los hombres esté lleno de mal, y de enloquecimiento en su corazón durante su vida: y después, á los muertos.

Quelque exemple qu'on choisisse, pour tous les vivants il y a espérance ; en effet, un chien vivant vaut mieux qu'un lion mort.

Aun hay esperanza para todo aquél que está entre los vivos; porque mejor es perro vivo que león muerto.

leur amour, leur haine, leur jalousie ont péri depuis longtemps ; il n'y a plus désormais de part pour eux en tout ce qui se fait sous le soleil.

También su amor, y su odio y su envidia, feneció ya: ni tiene ya más parte en el siglo, en todo lo que se hace debajo del sol.

Qu'en tout temps tes vêtements soient blancs et que l'huile ne manque point sur ta tête.

Jouis de la vie avec la femme que tu aimes, tous les jours de la vie de vanité qui t'est donnée sous le soleil, toute ta vie de vanité. Car c'est ta part dans la vie et dans le labeur dont tu te fatigues sous le soleil.

Goza de la vida con la mujer que amas, todos los días de la vida de tu vanidad, que te son dados debajo del sol, todos los días de tu vanidad; porque esta es tu parte en la vida, y en tu trabajo con que te afanas debajo del sol.

Tout ce que ta main trouve à faire avec ta force, fais-le ! Car il n'y a plus ni œuvres, ni calculs, ni science, ni sagesse, dans le séjour des morts où tu vas.

Je me remis à considérer que sous le soleil la course n'est pas aux agiles, ni la guerre aux vaillants, ni le pain aux sages, ni la richesse aux habiles, ni la faveur aux intelligents, car tous dépendent du temps et des circonstances.

Tornéme, y vi debajo del sol, que ni es de los ligeros la carrera, ni la guerra de los fuertes, ni aun de los sabios el pan, ni de los prudentes las riquezas, ni de los elocuentes el favor; sino que tiempo y ocasión acontece á todos.

J'ai aussi vu sous le soleil ce trait de sagesse qui m'a paru frappant :

Et j'ai dit : Mieux vaut sagesse que force, mais la sagesse du pauvre est méprisée et ses paroles ne sont pas écoutées.

Entonces dije yo: Mejor es la sabiduría que la fortaleza; aunque la ciencia del pobre sea menospreciada, y no sean escuchadas sus palabras.

Les paroles du sage écoutées avec calme valent mieux que les clameurs de celui qui domine parmi les insensés.

Las palabras del sabio con reposo son oídas, más que el clamor del señor entre los necios.

The words of wise men are heard in quiet more than the cry of him that ruleth among fools.

Mieux vaut la sagesse que les engins de guerre ; mais un seul pécheur anéantit beaucoup de bien.
