Desde antes que formara el mundo, Dios nos escogió para que fuéramos suyos a través de Cristo, y resolvió hacernos santos y sin falta ante su presencia.
Según nos escogió en él antes de la fundación del mundo, para que fuésemos santos y sin mancha delante de él en amor;
According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

Y nos destinó de antemano, por su amor, para adoptarnos como hijos suyos, por medio de Jesucristo, debido a su buena voluntad.
Habiéndonos predestinado para ser adoptados hijos por Jesucristo á sí mismo, según el puro afecto de su voluntad,
Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

Esto fue para que le demos la gloria a Dios por la extraordinaria gracia que nos mostró por medio de su amado Hijo.
Para alabanza de la gloria de su gracia, con la cual nos hizo aceptos en el Amado:
To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

Gracias a que él derramó su sangre, tenemos el perdón de nuestros pecados. Así de abundante es su gracia.

Cuando llegue el tiempo preciso, Dios reunirá todas las cosas —las que están en el cielo y en la tierra— bajo una cabeza, Cristo.
De reunir todas las cosas en Cristo, en la dispensación del cumplimiento de los tiempos, así las que están en los cielos, como las que están en la tierra:
That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:

En virtud de lo que Cristo hizo, ahora somos herederos, porque en su plan soberano nos escogió desde el principio para ser suyos; y esto es el cumplimiento de ese plan que Dios quería llevar a cabo.
En él digo, en quien asimismo tuvimos suerte, habiendo sido predestinados conforme al propósito del que hace todas las cosas según el consejo de su voluntad,

Lo hizo porque desea que nosotros, que fuimos los primeros en esperar al Mesías, celebremos su gloria.
Para que seamos para alabanza de su gloria, nosotros que antes esperamos en Cristo.
That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.

Gracias también a lo que Cristo hizo, cuando ustedes escucharon el mensaje verdadero de las buenas noticias de salvación y creyeron en él, fueron marcados con el sello que es el Espíritu Santo que él había prometido.
En el cual esperasteis también vosotros en oyendo la palabra de verdad, el evangelio de vuestra salud: en el cual también desde que creísteis, fuisteis sellados con el Espíritu Santo de la promesa,

La presencia del Espíritu Santo en nosotros es como el sello de garantía de que Dios nos dará nuestra herencia. Además, significa que Dios ya nos ha comprado y que nos salvará hasta el final. Todo esto lo hizo para que le alabemos y le demos a él la gloria.
Que es las arras de nuestra herencia, para la redención de la posesión adquirida para alabanza de su gloria.
Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

Por eso, desde que me enteré de la fe que ustedes han depositado en el Señor Jesús y del amor que demuestran hacia todo el pueblo santo,

Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,

no he cesado de recordarlos y dar gracias a Dios por ustedes. Pido constantemente a Dios, el glorioso Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, que les dé sabiduría y revelación, por medio de su Espíritu, para que lo conozcan mejor.
No ceso de dar gracias por vosotros, haciendo memoria de vosotros en mis oraciones;

Que el Dios del Señor nuestro Jesucristo, el Padre de gloria, os dé espíritu de sabiduría y de revelación para su conocimiento;

Pido también que ilumine sus corazones para que sepan cuál es la esperanza a la que los llamó y qué enorme es la riqueza de la herencia que él ha dado a los que son suyos.
Alumbrando los ojos de vuestro entendimiento, para que sepáis cuál sea la esperanza de su vocación, y cuáles las riquezas de la gloria de su herencia en los santos,
The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

Oro también para que comprendan el increíblemente inmenso poder con que Dios ayuda a los que creen en él. Ese poder es la fuerza grandiosa y eficaz
Y cuál aquella supereminente grandeza de su poder para con nosotros los que creemos, por la operación de la potencia de su fortaleza,
And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,

con que Dios levantó a Cristo de entre los muertos y lo sentó a su derecha en la gloria.
La cual obró en Cristo, resucitándole de los muertos, y colocándole á su diestra en los cielos,
Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,

Dios puso a Cristo muy por encima de cualquier gobernante, autoridad, poder y dominio, y de cualquier otro nombre que se invoque, no sólo en este mundo sino también en el venidero.
Sobre todo principado, y potestad, y potencia, y señorío, y todo nombre que se nombra, no sólo en este siglo, mas aun en el venidero:
Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:

Dios ha puesto todas las cosas a sus pies y lo hizo suprema cabeza de la iglesia.
Y sometió todas las cosas debajo de sus pies, y diólo por cabeza sobre todas las cosas á la iglesia,
And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,

Y la iglesia, que es su cuerpo, está llena de él, que llena también todo lo que existe.
La cual es su cuerpo, la plenitud de Aquel que hinche todas las cosas en todos.
