1IO adunque, il prigione, vi esorto nel Signore, che camminiate condegnamente alla vocazione, della quale siete stati chiamati;
2con ogni umiltà, e mansuetudine; con pazienza, comportandovi gli uni gli altri in carità;
3studiandovi di serbar l'unità dello Spirito per il legame della pace.
4V'è un corpo unico, e un unico Spirito; come ancora voi siete stati chiamati in un'unica speranza della vostra vocazione.
5V'è un unico Signore, una fede, un battesimo;
6un Dio unico, e Padre di tutti, il quale è sopra tutte le cose, e fra tutte le cose, e in tutti voi.
7Ma a ciascun di noi è stata data la grazia, secondo la misura del dono di Cristo.
8Per la qual cosa dice: Essendo salito in alto, egli ha menata in cattività moltitudine di prigioni, e ha dati de' doni agli uomini.
9Or quello: È salito, che cosa è altro, se non che prima ancora era disceso nelle parti più basse della terra?
10Colui che è disceso è quello stesso, il quale ancora è salito di sopra a tutti i cieli, acciocchè empia tutte le cose.
11Ed egli stesso ha dati gli uni apostoli, e gli altri profeti, e gli altri evangelisti, e gli altri pastori, e dottori;
12per lo perfetto adunamento de' santi, per l'opera del ministerio, per l'edificazione del corpo di Cristo;
13finchè ci scontriamo tutti nell'unità della fede, e della conoscenza del Figliuol di Dio, in uomo compiuto, alla misura della statura perfetta del corpo di Cristo.
14Acciocchè non siam più bambini, fiottando e trasportati da ogni vento di dottrina, per la baratteria degli uomini, per la loro astuzia all'artificio, ed insidie dell'inganno.
15Ma che, seguitando verità in carità, cresciamo in ogni cosa in colui che è il capo, cioè in Cristo.
16Dal quale tutto il corpo ben composto, e commesso insieme per tutte le giunture di cui è fornito, secondo la virtù che è nella misura di ciascun membro, prende il suo accrescimento alla propria edificazione in carità.
17QUESTO dico adunque, e protesto nel Signore, che voi non camminiate più come camminano ancora gli altri Gentili, nella vanità della lor mente;
18intenebrati nell'intelletto, alieni dalla vita di Dio, per l'ignoranza che è in loro, per l'induramento del cuor loro.
19I quali, essendo divenuti insensibili ad ogni dolore, si sono abbandonati alla dissoluzione, da operare ogni immondizia, con insaziabile cupidità.
20Ma voi non avete così imparato Cristo;
21se pur l'avete udito, e siete stati in lui ammaestrati, secondo che la verità è in Gesù:
22di spogliare, quant'è alla primiera condotta, l'uomo vecchio, il qual si corrompe nelle concupiscenze della seduzione;
23e d'essere rinnovati per lo Spirito della vostra mente;
24e d'esser vestiti dell'uomo nuovo, creato, secondo Iddio, in giustizia, e santità di verità.
25Perciò, deposta la menzogna, parlate in verità ciascuno col suo prossimo; poichè noi siam membra gli uni degli altri.
26Adiratevi, e non peccate; il sole non tramonti sopra il vostro cruccio.
27E non date luogo al diavolo.
28Chi rubava non rubi più; anzi più tosto fatichi, facendo qualche buona opera con le proprie mani, acciocchè abbia di che far parte a colui che ha bisogno.
29Niuna parola malvagia esca dalla vostra bocca; ma, se ve n'è alcuna buona ad edificazione, secondo il bisogno; acciocchè conferisca grazia agli ascoltanti.
30E non contristate lo Spirito Santo di Dio, col quale siete stati suggellati per il giorno della redenzione.
31Sia tolta via da voi ogni amaritudine, ed ira, e cruccio, e grido, e maldicenza, con ogni malizia.
32Ma siate gli uni inverso gli altri benigni, misericordiosi, perdonandovi gli uni gli altri, siccome ancora Iddio vi ha perdonati in Cristo.

1YO pues, preso en el Señor, os ruego que andéis como es digno de la vocación con que sois llamados;
2Con toda humildad y mansedumbre, con paciencia soportando los unos á los otros en amor;
3Solícitos á guardar la unidad del Espíritu en el vínculo de la paz.
4Un cuerpo, y un Espíritu; como sois también llamados á una misma esperanza de vuestra vocación:
5Un Señor, una fe, un bautismo,
6Un Dios y Padre de todos, el cual es sobre todas las cosas, y por todas las cosas, y en todos vosotros.
7Empero á cada uno de nosotros es dada la gracia conforme á la medida del don de Cristo.
8Por lo cual dice: Subiendo á lo alto, llevó cautiva la cautividad, y dió dones á los hombres.
9(Y que subió, ¿qué es, sino que también había descendido primero á las partes más bajas de la tierra?
10El que descendió, él mismo es el que también subió sobre todos los cielos para cumplir todas las cosas.)
11Y él mismo dió unos, ciertamente apóstoles; y otros, profetas; y otros, evangelistas; y otros, pastores y doctores;
12Para perfección de los santos, para la obra del ministerio, para edificación del cuerpo de Cristo;
13Hasta que todos lleguemos á la unidad de la fe y del conocimiento del Hijo de Dios, á un varón perfecto, á la medida de la edad de la plenitud de Cristo:
14Que ya no seamos niños fluctuantes, y llevados por doquiera de todo viento de doctrina, por estratagema de hombres que, para engañar, emplean con astucia los artificios del error:
15Antes siguiendo la verdad en amor, crezcamos en todas cosas en aquel que es la cabeza, á saber, Cristo;
16Del cual, todo el cuerpo compuesto y bien ligado entre sí por todas las junturas de su alimento, que recibe según la operación, cada miembro conforme á su medida toma aumento de cuerpo edificándose en amor.
17Esto pues digo, y requiero en el Señor, que no andéis más como los otros Gentiles, que andan en la vanidad de su sentido,
18Teniendo el entendimiento entenebrecido, ajenos de la vida de Dios por la ignorancia que en ellos hay, por la dureza de su corazón:
19Los cuales después que perdieron el sentido de la conciencia, se entregaron á la desvergüenza para cometer con avidez toda suerte de impureza.
20Mas vosotros no habéis aprendido así á Cristo:
21Si empero lo habéis oído, y habéis sido por él enseñados, como la verdad está en Jesús,
22A que dejéis, cuanto á la pasada manera de vivir, el viejo hombre que está viciado conforme á los deseos de error;
23Y á renovaros en el espíritu de vuestra mente,
24Y vestir el nuevo hombre que es criado conforme á Dios en justicia y en santidad de verdad.
25Por lo cual, dejada la mentira, hablad verdad cada uno con su prójimo; porque somos miembros los unos de los otros.
26Airaos, y no pequéis; no se ponga el sol sobre vuestro enojo;
27Ni deis lugar al diablo.
28El que hurtaba, no hurte más; antes trabaje, obrando con sus manos lo que es bueno, para que tenga de qué dar al que padeciere necesidad.
29Ninguna palabra torpe salga de vuestra boca, sino la que sea buena para edificación, para que dé gracia á los oyentes.
30Y no contristéis al Espíritu Santo de Dios, con el cual estáis sellados para el día de la redención.
31Toda amargura, y enojo, é ira, y voces, y maledicencia sea quitada de vosotros, y toda malicia:
32Antes sed los unos con los otros benignos, misericordiosos, perdonándoos los unos á los otros, como también Dios os perdonó en Cristo.

1I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
2With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
3Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
4There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
5One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
7But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
8Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
9(Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
10He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
11And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
13Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
14That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
15But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
16From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
17This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,
18Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:
19Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
20But ye have not so learned Christ;
21If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:
22That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
23And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
25Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.
26Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
27Neither give place to the devil.
28Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
29Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
30And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
31Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
32And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

1I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beg you to walk worthily of the calling with which you were called,
2with all lowliness and humility, with patience, bearing with one another in love,
3being eager to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
4There is one body and one Spirit, even as you also were called in one hope of your calling,
5one Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in us all.
7But to each one of us, the grace was given according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
8Therefore he says, “When he ascended on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts to people.”
9Now this, “He ascended”, what is it but that he also first descended into the lower parts of the earth?
10He who descended is the one who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.
11He gave some to be apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, shepherds and teachers;
12for the perfecting of the saints, to the work of serving, to the building up of the body of Christ,

14that we may no longer be children, tossed back and forth and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in craftiness, after the wiles of error;
15but speaking truth in love, we may grow up in all things into him who is the head, Christ,
16from whom all the body, being fitted and knit together through that which every joint supplies, according to the working in measure of each individual part, makes the body increase to the building up of itself in love.
17This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind,
18being darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardening of their hearts.
19They, having become callous, gave themselves up to lust, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
20But you didn’t learn Christ that way,
21if indeed you heard him and were taught in him, even as truth is in Jesus:
22that you put away, as concerning your former way of life, the old man that grows corrupt after the lusts of deceit,
23and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind,
24and put on the new man, who in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of truth.
25Therefore, putting away falsehood, speak truth each one with his neighbor, for we are members of one another.
26“Be angry, and don’t sin.” Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath,
27and don’t give place to the devil.
28Let him who stole steal no more; but rather let him labor, producing with his hands something that is good, that he may have something to give to him who has need.
29Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear.
30Don’t grieve the Holy Spirit of God, in whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
31Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice.
32And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you.
