1Por tanto, imiten a Dios como hijos amados.
2Y vivan amando a los demás, siguiendo el ejemplo de Cristo, que nos amó y se entregó por nosotros en sacrificio, como ofrenda de perfume agradable a Dios.
3Que entre ustedes ni siquiera se mencionen pecados sexuales, o cualquier forma de impureza o de avaricia. Eso no es propio del pueblo santo de Dios.
4No digan malas palabras, ni tengan conversaciones tontas, ni hagan chistes groseros. Todo eso está fuera de lugar. En vez de actuar así, sean agradecidos.
5Sepan esto: Jamás tendrá parte en el reino de Cristo y de Dios el que sea inmoral, impuro o avaro (pues ser avaro es lo mismo que ser idólatra).
6No se dejen engañar por los que tratan de excusar estos pecados, porque por esos pecados el castigo de Dios viene sobre los que son desobedientes.
7No se hagan cómplices de esa clase de personas.
8Aunque ustedes antes vivían en tinieblas, ahora viven en la luz. Esa luz debe notarse en su conducta como hijos de Dios.
9Cuando esa luz brilla, produce bondad, justicia y verdad.
10Traten siempre de saber qué es lo que le agrada al Señor.
11No participen de las acciones malas de los que viven en oscuridad, las cuales no traen ningún provecho. Más bien, háganles ver sus pecados.
12Es vergonzoso aun hablar de muchas de las cosas que ellos hacen a escondidas.
13Pero cuando la luz brilla, pone todas las cosas al descubierto. Por eso se dice: «Despiértate, tú que duermes; levántate de entre los muertos y Cristo te alumbrará».
14—
15Así que tengan mucho cuidado de cómo viven. Vivan como sabios, no como necios;
16aprovechen bien cada oportunidad, porque los días son malos;
17no sean tontos, sino traten de entender cuál es la voluntad de Dios.
18No se embriaguen, pues no se podrán controlar; más bien dejen que el Espíritu Santo los llene y controle.
19Así hablarán entre ustedes con salmos e himnos y cantos espirituales, y elevarán al Señor alabanzas y cantos de todo corazón.
20También le darán gracias siempre y por todo a Dios, nuestro Padre, en el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
21Sométanse unos a otros por respeto a Cristo.
22Las mujeres deben someterse a sus esposos al igual que se someten al Señor.
23Porque el esposo es cabeza de la esposa, de la misma manera que Cristo es cabeza y salvador de ese cuerpo suyo que es la iglesia.
24Así que las esposas deben estar sujetas en todo a sus esposos, así como la iglesia lo está a Cristo.
25Los esposos, por su parte, deben mostrar a sus esposas el mismo amor que Cristo mostró a su iglesia. Cristo se entregó a sí mismo por ella
26para hacerla santa y la purificó lavándola con agua por medio de la Palabra.
27Lo hizo así a fin de presentársela a sí mismo como una iglesia gloriosa, sin manchas ni arrugas ni nada semejante, sino santa e intachable.
28Así deben amar los esposos a sus esposas: como aman a su propio cuerpo. ¡El hombre que ama a su esposa se ama a sí mismo!
29Nadie aborrece su propio cuerpo; antes bien, lo alimenta y lo cuida con esmero. Cristo hace lo mismo con ese cuerpo suyo del que formamos parte: la iglesia.
30—
31«Por eso, el hombre dejará a su padre y a su madre y se unirá a su mujer, y los dos serán como una sola persona».
32Sé que esto es como un misterio difícil de entender; pero ilustra la manera en que Cristo se relaciona con la iglesia.
33Así que, repito, el esposo debe amar a su esposa como a sí mismo; y la esposa debe respetar a su esposo.

1SED, pues, imitadores de Dios como hijos amados:
2Y andad en amor, como también Cristo nos amó, y se entregó á sí mismo por nosotros, ofrenda y sacrificio á Dios en olor suave.
3Pero fornicación y toda inmundicia, ó avaricia, ni aun se nombre entre vosotros, como conviene á santos;
4Ni palabras torpes, ni necedades, ni truhanerías, que no convienen; sino antes bien acciones de gracias.
5Porque sabéis esto, que ningún fornicario, ó inmundo, ó avaro, que es servidor de ídolos, tiene herencia en el reino de Cristo y de Dios.
6Nadie os engañe con palabras vanas; porque por estas cosas viene la ira de Dios sobre los hijos de desobediencia.
7No seáis pues aparceros con ellos;
8Porque en otro tiempo erais tinieblas; mas ahora sois luz en el Señor: andad como hijos de luz,
9(Porque el fruto del Espíritu es en toda bondad, y justicia, y verdad;)
10Aprobando lo que es agradable al Señor.
11Y no comuniquéis con las obras infructuosas de las tinieblas; sino antes bien redargüidlas.
12Porque torpe cosa es aun hablar de lo que ellos hacen en oculto.
13Mas todas las cosas cuando son redargüidas, son manifestadas por la luz; porque lo que manifiesta todo, la luz es.
14Por lo cual dice: Despiértate, tú que duermes, y levántate de los muertos, y te alumbrará Cristo.
15Mirad, pues, cómo andéis avisadamente; no como necios, mas como sabios;
16Redimiendo el tiempo, porque los días son malos.
17Por tanto, no seáis imprudentes, sino entendidos de cuál sea la voluntad del Señor.
18Y no os embriaguéis de vino, en lo cual hay disolución; mas sed llenos de Espíritu;
19Hablando entre vosotros con salmos, y con himnos, y canciones espirituales, cantando y alabando al Señor en vuestros corazones;
20Dando gracias siempre de todo al Dios y Padre en el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo:
21Sujetados los unos á los otros en el temor de Dios.
22Las casadas estén sujetas á sus propios maridos, como al Señor.
23Porque el marido es cabeza de la mujer, así como Cristo es cabeza de la iglesia; y él es el que da la salud al cuerpo.
24Así que, como la iglesia está sujeta á Cristo, así también las casadas lo estén á sus maridos en todo.
25Maridos, amad á vuestras mujeres, así como Cristo amó á la iglesia, y se entregó á sí mismo por ella,
26Para santificarla limpiándola en el lavacro del agua por la palabra,
27Para presentársela gloriosa para sí, una iglesia que no tuviese mancha ni arruga, ni cosa semejante; sino que fuese santa y sin mancha.
28Así también los maridos deben amar á sus mujeres como á sus mismos cuerpos. El que ama á su mujer, á sí mismo se ama.
29Porque ninguno aborreció jamás á su propia carne, antes la sustenta y regala, como también Cristo á la iglesia;
30Porque somos miembros de su cuerpo, de su carne y de sus huesos.
31Por esto dejará el hombre á su padre y á su madre, y se allegará á su mujer, y serán dos en una carne.
32Este misterio grande es: mas yo digo esto con respecto á Cristo y á la iglesia.
33Cada uno empero de vosotros de por sí, ame también á su mujer como á sí mismo; y la mujer reverencie á su marido.

1Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
2And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
3But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;
4Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
5For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
6Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
7Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
8For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
9(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
10Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
11And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
12For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.
13But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.
14Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
15See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
16Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
17Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
18And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
19Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
20Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
21Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
22Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
23For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
24Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
25Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
26That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
27That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
28So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
29For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
30For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
31For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
32This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
33Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

1Be therefore imitators of God, as beloved children.
2Walk in love, even as Christ also loved us and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling fragrance.
3But sexual immorality, and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be mentioned among you, as becomes saints;
4nor filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not appropriate, but rather giving of thanks.
5Know this for sure, that no sexually immoral person, nor unclean person, nor covetous man (who is an idolater), has any inheritance in the Kingdom of Christ and God.
6Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes on the children of disobedience.
7Therefore don’t be partakers with them.
8For you were once darkness, but are now light in the Lord. Walk as children of light,
9for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth,
10proving what is well pleasing to the Lord.
11Have no fellowship with the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather even reprove them.
12For it is a shame even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret.
13But all things, when they are reproved, are revealed by the light, for everything that reveals is light.
14Therefore he says, “Awake, you who sleep, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”
15Therefore watch carefully how you walk, not as unwise, but as wise,
16redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
17Therefore, don’t be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
18Don’t be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit,
19speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs; singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
20giving thanks always concerning all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father;
21subjecting yourselves to one another in the fear of Christ.
22Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord.
23For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the assembly, being himself the savior of the body.
24But as the assembly is subject to Christ, so let the wives also be to their own husbands in everything.
25Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for her,
26that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word,
27that he might present the assembly to himself gloriously, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without defect.
28Even so husbands also ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself.
29For no man ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, even as the Lord also does the assembly,
30because we are members of his body, of his flesh and bones.
31“For this cause a man will leave his father and mother and will be joined to his wife. Then the two will become one flesh.”
32This mystery is great, but I speak concerning Christ and the assembly.
33Nevertheless each of you must also love his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
