1Enfants, obéissez à vos parents, selon le Seigneur, car cela est juste.
2Honore ton père et ta mère (c’est le premier commandement avec une promesse),
3afin que tu sois heureux et que tu vives longtemps sur la terre.
4Et vous, pères, n’irritez pas vos enfants, mais élevez-les en les corrigeant et en les instruisant selon le Seigneur.
5Serviteurs, obéissez à vos maîtres selon la chair, avec crainte et tremblement, dans la simplicité de votre cœur, comme à Christ,
6non pas seulement sous leurs yeux, comme pour plaire aux hommes, mais comme des serviteurs de Christ, qui font de bon cœur la volonté de Dieu.
7Servez-les avec empressement, comme servant le Seigneur et non des hommes,
8sachant que chacun, soit esclave, soit libre, recevra du Seigneur selon ce qu’il aura fait de bien.
9Et vous, maîtres, agissez de même à leur égard, et abstenez-vous de menaces, sachant que leur maître et le vôtre est dans les cieux, et que devant lui il n’y a point d’acception de personnes.
10Au reste, fortifiez-vous dans le Seigneur, et par sa force toute-puissante.
11Revêtez-vous de toutes les armes de Dieu, afin de pouvoir tenir ferme contre les ruses du diable.
12Car nous n’avons pas à lutter contre la chair et le sang, mais contre les dominations, contre les autorités, contre les princes de ce monde de ténèbres, contre les esprits méchants dans les lieux célestes.
13C’est pourquoi, prenez toutes les armes de Dieu, afin de pouvoir résister dans le mauvais jour, et tenir ferme après avoir tout surmonté.
14Tenez donc ferme: ayez à vos reins la vérité pour ceinture; revêtez la cuirasse de la justice;
15mettez pour chaussure à vos pieds le zèle que donne l’Évangile de paix;
16prenez par-dessus tout cela le bouclier de la foi, avec lequel vous pourrez éteindre tous les traits enflammés du malin;
17prenez aussi le casque du salut, et l’épée de l’Esprit, qui est la parole de Dieu.
18Faites en tout temps par l’Esprit toutes sortes de prières et de supplications. Veillez à cela avec une entière persévérance, et priez pour tous les saints.
19Priez pour moi, afin qu’il me soit donné, quand j’ouvre la bouche, de faire connaître hardiment et librement le mystère de l’Évangile,
20pour lequel je suis ambassadeur dans les chaînes, et que j’en parle avec assurance comme je dois en parler.
21Afin que vous aussi, vous sachiez ce qui me concerne, ce que je fais, Tychique, le bien-aimé frère et fidèle ministre dans le Seigneur, vous informera de tout.
22Je l’envoie exprès vers vous, pour que vous connaissiez notre situation, et pour qu’il console vos cœurs.
23Que la paix et la charité avec la foi soient données aux frères de la part de Dieu le Père et du Seigneur Jésus-Christ!
24Que la grâce soit avec tous ceux qui aiment notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ d’un amour inaltérable!

1HIJOS, obedeced en el Señor á vuestros padres; porque esto es justo.
2Honra á tu padre y á tu madre, que es el primer mandamiento con promesa,
3Para que te vaya bien, y seas de larga vida sobre la tierra.
4Y vosotros, padres, no provoquéis á ira á vuestros hijos; sino criadlos en disciplina y amonestación del Señor.
5Siervos, obedeced á vuestros amos según la carne con temor y temblor, con sencillez de vuestro corazón, como á Cristo;
6No sirviendo al ojo, como los que agradan á los hombres; sino como siervos de Cristo, haciendo de ánimo la voluntad de Dios;
7Sirviendo con buena voluntad, como al Señor, y no á los hombres;
8Sabiendo que el bien que cada uno hiciere, esto recibirá del Señor, sea siervo ó sea libre.
9Y vosotros, amos, haced á ellos lo mismo, dejando las amenazas: sabiendo que el Señor de ellos y vuestro está en los cielos, y que no hay acepción de personas con él.
10Por lo demás, hermanos míos, confortaos en el Señor, y en la potencia de su fortaleza.
11Vestíos de toda la armadura de Dios, para que podáis estar firmes contra las asechanzas del diablo.
12Porque no tenemos lucha contra sangre y carne; sino contra principados, contra potestades, contra señores del mundo, gobernadores de estas tinieblas, contra malicias espirituales en los aires.
13Por tanto, tomad toda la armadura de Dios, para que podáis resistir en el día malo, y estar firmes, habiendo acabado todo.
14Estad pues firmes, ceñidos vuestros lomos de verdad, y vestidos de la cota de justicia,
15Y calzados los pies con el apresto del evangelio de paz;
16Sobre todo, tomando el escudo de la fe, con que podáis apagar todos los dardos de fuego del maligno.
17Y tomad el yelmo de salud, y la espada del Espíritu; que es la palabra de Dios;
18Orando en todo tiempo con toda deprecación y súplica en el Espíritu, y velando en ello con toda instancia y suplicación por todos los santos,
19Y por mí, para que me sea dada palabra en el abrir de mi boca con confianza, para hacer notorio el misterio del evangelio,
20Por el cual soy embajador en cadenas; que resueltamente hable de él, como debo hablar.
21Mas para que también vosotros sepáis mis negocios, y cómo lo paso, todo os lo hará saber Tichîco, hermano amado y fiel ministro en el Señor:
22Al cual os he enviado para esto mismo, para que entendáis lo tocante á nosotros, y que consuele vuestros corazones.
23Paz sea á los hermanos y amor con fe, de Dios Padre y del Señor Jesucristo.

1Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
2Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)
3That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
4And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
5Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;
6Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;
7With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:
8Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.
9And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.
10Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
19And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
20For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
21But that ye also may know my affairs, and how I do, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, shall make known to you all things:
22Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that ye might know our affairs, and that he might comfort your hearts.
23Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
24Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.

6not in the way of service only when eyes are on you, as men pleasers, but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart,
7with good will doing service as to the Lord and not to men,

9You masters, do the same things to them, and give up threatening, knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no partiality with him.

18with all prayer and requests, praying at all times in the Spirit, and being watchful to this end in all perseverance and requests for all the saints.
19Pray for me, that utterance may be given to me in opening my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the Good News,
20for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
21But that you also may know my affairs, how I am doing, Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will make known to you all things.
22I have sent him to you for this very purpose, that you may know our state and that he may comfort your hearts.
23Peace be to the brothers, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
24Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ with incorruptible love. Amen.
