¿Qué se debe hacer por ley a la reina Vasti, porque ella no ha hecho lo que el rey Asuero, por parte de sus siervos, le ordenó que hiciera?
Qué se había de hacer según la ley con la reina Vasthi, por cuanto no había cumplido la orden del rey Assuero, enviada por mano de los eunucos.
What shall we do unto the queen Vashti according to law, because she hath not performed the commandment of the king Ahasuerus by the chamberlains?
“What shall we do to Queen Vashti according to law, because she has not done the bidding of the King Ahasuerus by the eunuchs?”
Y ante el rey y los capitanes, Memucan dio su respuesta: Vasti, la reina, ha hecho mal, no solo al rey, sino a todos los capitanes y a todos los pueblos en todas las divisiones del reino del rey Asuero.
Y dijo Memucán delante del rey y de los príncipes: No solamente contra el rey ha pecado la reina Vasthi, sino contra todos los príncipes, y contra todos los pueblos que hay en todas las provincias del rey Assuero.

Porque las noticias de lo que la reina ha hecho llegarán a los oídos de todas las mujeres y ya no les darán respeto a sus esposos cuando se les diga, el rey Asuero dio órdenes para que la reina Vasti viniera ante él y ella no vino.
Porque este hecho de la reina pasará á noticia de todas las mujeres, para hacerles tener en poca estima á sus maridos, diciendo: El rey Assuero mandó traer delante de sí á la reina Vasthi, y ella no vino.
For this deed of the queen shall come abroad unto all women, so that they shall despise their husbands in their eyes, when it shall be reported, The king Ahasuerus commanded Vashti the queen to be brought in before him, but she came not.
For this deed of the queen will become known to all women, causing them to show contempt for their husbands when it is reported, ‘King Ahasuerus commanded Vashti the queen to be brought in before him, but she didn’t come.’
Y las esposas de los capitanes de Persia y Media, al escuchar lo que la reina ha hecho, dirán lo mismo a todos los capitanes del rey. Entonces habrá mucha vergüenza e ira.
Y entonces dirán esto las señoras de Persia y de Media que oyeren el hecho de la reina, á todos los príncipes del rey: y habrá mucho menosprecio y enojo.
Likewise shall the ladies of Persia and Media say this day unto all the king’s princes, which have heard of the deed of the queen. Thus shall there arise too much contempt and wrath.
Today, the princesses of Persia and Media who have heard of the queen’s deed will tell all the king’s princes. This will cause much contempt and wrath.
Si le agrada al rey, que salga una orden de él, y que se registre entre las leyes de los persas y los medos, para que nunca se cambie, que Vasti nunca más vuelva a venir ante el rey Asuero; y que el rey ceda su lugar a otra que es mejor que ella.
Si parece bien al rey, salga mandamiento real delante de él, y escríbase entre las leyes de Persia y de Media, y no sea traspasado: Que no venga más Vasthi delante del rey Assuero: y dé el rey su reino á su compañera que sea mejor que ella.
If it please the king, let there go a royal commandment from him, and let it be written among the laws of the Persians and the Medes, that it be not altered, That Vashti come no more before king Ahasuerus; and let the king give her royal estate unto another that is better than she.

Y cuando esta orden, dada por el rey, se haga pública en todo su reino, que es muy grande, todas las esposas honrarán a sus esposos, tanto grandes como pequeñas.

Y esta sugerencia pareció buena para el rey y los capitanes; y el rey hizo como decía Memucan;

Y envió cartas a todas las divisiones del reino, a cada división en la escritura comúnmente usada allí, y a cada pueblo en el idioma que era suyo, diciendo que cada hombre debía ser el gobernante en su casa, y que esta orden debía darse en el idioma de su pueblo.
Pues envió letras á todas las provincias del rey, á cada provincia conforme á su escribir, y á cada pueblo conforme á su lenguaje, diciendo que todo hombre fuese señor en su casa; y háblese esto según la lengua de su pueblo.
