And it came to pass in the days of Achashverosh, of the same Achashverosh who reigned, from India even unto Ethiopia, over a hundred and seven and twenty provinces,

El pabellón era de blanco, verde, y cárdeno, tendido sobre cuerdas de lino y púrpura en sortijas de plata y columnas de mármol: los reclinatorios de oro y de plata, sobre losado de pórfido y de mármol, y de alabastro y de jacinto.

And the drinking was according to the law; none did compel: for so the king had appointed to all the officers of his house, that they should do according to every man’s pleasure.

What should according to law be done with queen Vashti; because she had not fulfilled the order of king Achashverosh by the hand of the chamberlains?

Qué se había de hacer según la ley con la reina Vasthi, por cuanto no había cumplido la orden del rey Assuero, enviada por mano de los eunucos.

What shall we do unto the queen Vashti according to law, because she hath not performed the commandment of the king Ahasuerus by the chamberlains?

“What shall we do to Queen Vashti according to law, because she has not done the bidding of the King Ahasuerus by the eunuchs?”

Then said Memuchan before the king and the princes, Not against the king alone hath Vashti the queen done wrong, but also against all the princes, and against all the people that are in all the provinces of king Achashverosh.

Y dijo Memucán delante del rey y de los príncipes: No solamente contra el rey ha pecado la reina Vasthi, sino contra todos los príncipes, y contra todos los pueblos que hay en todas las provincias del rey Assuero.

And Memucan answered before the king and the princes, Vashti the queen hath not done wrong to the king only, but also to all the princes, and to all the people that are in all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus.

For the conduct of the queen will go abroad unto all the women, so that they will despise their husbands in their eyes, when it shall be reported, King Achashverosh ordered Vashti the queen to be brought into his presence, but she came not.

Porque este hecho de la reina pasará á noticia de todas las mujeres, para hacerles tener en poca estima á sus maridos, diciendo: El rey Assuero mandó traer delante de sí á la reina Vasthi, y ella no vino.

For this deed of the queen shall come abroad unto all women, so that they shall despise their husbands in their eyes, when it shall be reported, The king Ahasuerus commanded Vashti the queen to be brought in before him, but she came not.

For this deed of the queen will become known to all women, causing them to show contempt for their husbands when it is reported, ‘King Ahasuerus commanded Vashti the queen to be brought in before him, but she didn’t come.’

And even this day will the ladies of Persia and Media, who have heard of the conduct of the queen, say this unto all the princes of the king; and there will arise too much contempt and quarrel.

Y entonces dirán esto las señoras de Persia y de Media que oyeren el hecho de la reina, á todos los príncipes del rey: y habrá mucho menosprecio y enojo.

Likewise shall the ladies of Persia and Media say this day unto all the king’s princes, which have heard of the deed of the queen. Thus shall there arise too much contempt and wrath.

Today, the princesses of Persia and Media who have heard of the queen’s deed will tell all the king’s princes. This will cause much contempt and wrath.

If it please the king, let there go forth a royal order from him, and let it be written among the laws of the Persians and the Medes, that no one transgress it, That Vashti come no more before king Achashverosh: and let the king give her royal dignity unto another that is better than she.

Si parece bien al rey, salga mandamiento real delante de él, y escríbase entre las leyes de Persia y de Media, y no sea traspasado: Que no venga más Vasthi delante del rey Assuero: y dé el rey su reino á su compañera que sea mejor que ella.

If it please the king, let there go a royal commandment from him, and let it be written among the laws of the Persians and the Medes, that it be not altered, That Vashti come no more before king Ahasuerus; and let the king give her royal estate unto another that is better than she.

“If it pleases the king, let a royal commandment go from him, and let it be written among the laws of the Persians and the Medes, so that it cannot be altered, that Vashti may never again come before King Ahasuerus; and let the king give her royal estate to another who is better than she.

And when the king’s decree which he will make shall be published throughout all his kingdom, however great it is: all the wives will show respect to their husbands, unto every one, from the great even to the small.

Y el mandamiento que hará el rey será oído en todo su reino, aunque es grande, y todas las mujeres darán honra á sus maridos, desde el mayor hasta el menor.

And when the king’s decree which he shall make shall be published throughout all his empire, (for it is great,) all the wives shall give to their husbands honour, both to great and small.

And the speech was pleasing in the eyes of the king and of the princes; and the king did according to the speech of Memuchan.

And he sent letters unto all the provinces of the king, unto every province according to its writing, and to every people according to its language, that every man should bear rule in his own house, however he may speak according to the language of his people.

Pues envió letras á todas las provincias del rey, á cada provincia conforme á su escribir, y á cada pueblo conforme á su lenguaje, diciendo que todo hombre fuese señor en su casa; y háblese esto según la lengua de su pueblo.

For he sent letters into all the king’s provinces, into every province according to the writing thereof, and to every people after their language, that every man should bear rule in his own house, and that it should be published according to the language of every people.
