Les preguntó, pues, el rey, qué pena merecía la reina Vasti por no haber querido obedecer la orden que le había enviado el rey por medio de los eunucos.
Qué se había de hacer según la ley con la reina Vasthi, por cuanto no había cumplido la orden del rey Assuero, enviada por mano de los eunucos.

A lo que respondió Mamucán en presencia del rey y de los grandes: La reina Vasti no sólo ha ofendido al rey, sino también a todos los pueblos y señores de todas las provincias del rey Asuero.
Y dijo Memucán delante del rey y de los príncipes: No solamente contra el rey ha pecado la reina Vasthi, sino contra todos los príncipes, y contra todos los pueblos que hay en todas las provincias del rey Assuero.

For this deed of the queen shall come abroad unto all women, so that they shall despise their husbands in their eyes, when it shall be reported, The king Ahasuerus commanded Vashti the queen to be brought in before him, but she came not.
For this deed of the queen will become known to all women, causing them to show contempt for their husbands when it is reported, ‘King Ahasuerus commanded Vashti the queen to be brought in before him, but she didn’t come.’
Con cuyo ejemplo todas las mujeres de los magnates persas y medos harán poco caso de los mandatos de sus maridos; y así la indignación del rey es muy justa.
Y entonces dirán esto las señoras de Persia y de Media que oyeren el hecho de la reina, á todos los príncipes del rey: y habrá mucho menosprecio y enojo.
Likewise shall the ladies of Persia and Media say this day unto all the king’s princes, which have heard of the deed of the queen. Thus shall there arise too much contempt and wrath.

Si te parece bien promúlguese por ti un edicto, y escríbase al tenor de las leyes de los persas y medos que no es lícito traspasar o revocar, para que la reina Vasti no vuelva a aparecer jamás en la presencia del rey, y se dé su corona a otra más digna que ella.
Si parece bien al rey, salga mandamiento real delante de él, y escríbase entre las leyes de Persia y de Media, y no sea traspasado: Que no venga más Vasthi delante del rey Assuero: y dé el rey su reino á su compañera que sea mejor que ella.
If it please the king, let there go a royal commandment from him, and let it be written among the laws of the Persians and the Medes, that it be not altered, That Vashti come no more before king Ahasuerus; and let the king give her royal estate unto another that is better than she.

Y que se haga saber esto por todas las provincias de su vastísimo imperio, a fin de que todas las mujeres, así de los grandes como de los pequeños, tributen el debido honor a sus maridos.

Pareció bien al rey y a los grandes el consejo de Mamucán, y conformándose el rey con este dictamen.
