Après ces choses, lorsque la colère du roi Assuérus se fut calmée, il pensa à Vasthi, à ce qu’elle avait fait, et à la décision qui avait été prise à son sujet.

PASADAS estas cosas, sosegada ya la ira del rey Assuero, acordóse de Vasthi, y de lo que hizo, y de lo que fué sentenciado contra ella.

El cual había sido trasportado de Jerusalem con los cautivos que fueron llevados con Jechônías rey de Judá, á quien hizo trasportar Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia.

Il élevait Hadassa, qui est Esther, fille de son oncle; car elle n’avait ni père ni mère. La jeune fille était belle de taille et belle de figure. A la mort de son père et de sa mère, Mardochée l’avait adoptée pour fille.

And he brought up Hadassah, that is, Esther, his uncle’s daughter: for she had neither father nor mother, and the maid was fair and beautiful; whom Mordecai, when her father and mother were dead, took for his own daughter.

Sucedió pues, que como se divulgó el mandamiento del rey y su acuerdo, y siendo reunidas muchas mozas en Susán residencia regia, á cargo de Hegai, fué tomada también Esther para casa del rey, al cuidado de Hegai, guarda de las mujeres.

So it came to pass, when the king’s commandment and his decree was heard, and when many maidens were gathered together unto Shushan the palace, to the custody of Hegai, that Esther was brought also unto the king’s house, to the custody of Hegai, keeper of the women.

La jeune fille lui plut, et trouva grâce devant lui; il s’empressa de lui fournir les choses nécessaires pour sa toilette et pour sa subsistance, lui donna sept jeunes filles choisies dans la maison du roi, et la plaça avec ses jeunes filles dans le meilleur appartement de la maison des femmes.

Y la moza agradó en sus ojos, y halló gracia delante de él; por lo que hizo darle prestamente sus atavíos y sus raciones, dándole también siete convenientes doncellas de la casa del rey; y pasóla con sus doncellas á lo mejor de la casa de las mujeres.

And the maiden pleased him, and she obtained kindness of him; and he speedily gave her her things for purification, with such things as belonged to her, and seven maidens, which were meet to be given her, out of the king’s house: and he preferred her and her maids unto the best place of the house of the women.

The maiden pleased him, and she obtained kindness from him. He quickly gave her cosmetics and her portions of food, and the seven choice maidens who were to be given her out of the king’s house. He moved her and her maidens to the best place in the women’s house.

Esther ne fit connaître ni son peuple ni sa naissance, car Mardochée lui avait défendu d’en parler.

Esther no declaró su pueblo ni su nacimiento; porque Mardochêo le había mandado que no lo declarase.

Esther had not shewed her people nor her kindred: for Mordecai had charged her that she should not shew it.

Et chaque jour Mardochée allait et venait devant la cour de la maison des femmes, pour savoir comment se portait Esther et comment on la traitait.

Chaque jeune fille allait à son tour vers le roi Assuérus, après avoir employé douze mois à s’acquitter de ce qui était prescrit aux femmes; pendant ce temps, elles prenaient soin de leur toilette, six mois avec de l’huile de myrrhe, et six mois avec des aromates et des parfums en usage parmi les femmes.

Y como llegaba el tiempo de cada una de las mozas para venir al rey Assuero, al cabo de haber estado ya doce meses conforme á la ley acerca de las mujeres (porque así se cumplía el tiempo de sus atavíos, esto es, seis meses con óleo de mirra, y seis meses con cosas aromáticas y afeites de mujeres),

Now when every maid’s turn was come to go in to king Ahasuerus, after that she had been twelve months, according to the manner of the women, (for so were the days of their purifications accomplished, to wit, six months with oil of myrrh, and six months with sweet odours, and with other things for the purifying of the women;)

C’est ainsi que chaque jeune fille allait vers le roi; et, quand elle passait de la maison des femmes dans la maison du roi, on lui laissait prendre avec elle tout ce qu’elle voulait.

Entonces la moza venía así al rey: todo lo que ella decía se le daba, para venir con ello de la casa de las mujeres hasta la casa del rey.

Then thus came every maiden unto the king; whatsoever she desired was given her to go with her out of the house of the women unto the king’s house.

In the evening she went, and on the morrow she returned into the second house of the women, to the custody of Shaashgaz, the king’s chamberlain, which kept the concubines: she came in unto the king no more, except the king delighted in her, and that she were called by name.

Lorsque son tour d’aller vers le roi fut arrivé, Esther, fille d’Abichaïl, oncle de Mardochée qui l’avait adoptée pour fille, ne demanda que ce qui fut désigné par Hégaï, eunuque du roi et gardien des femmes. Esther trouvait grâce aux yeux de tous ceux qui la voyaient.

Y llegado que fué el tiempo de Esther, hija de Abihail tío de Mardochêo, que él se había tomado por hija, para venir al rey, ninguna cosa procuró sino lo que dijo Hegai eunuco del rey, guarda de las mujeres: y ganaba Esther la gracia de todos los que la veían.

Now when the turn of Esther, the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her for his daughter, was come to go in unto the king, she required nothing but what Hegai the king’s chamberlain, the keeper of the women, appointed. And Esther obtained favour in the sight of all them that looked upon her.

So Esther was taken unto king Ahasuerus into his house royal in the tenth month, which is the month Tebeth, in the seventh year of his reign.

Le roi aima Esther plus que toutes les autres femmes, et elle obtint grâce et faveur devant lui plus que toutes les autres jeunes filles. Il mit la couronne royale sur sa tête, et la fit reine à la place de Vasthi.

And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her queen instead of Vashti.

La seconde fois qu’on assembla les jeunes filles, Mardochée était assis à la porte du roi.

Esther n’avait fait connaître ni sa naissance ni son peuple, car Mardochée le lui avait défendu, et elle suivait les ordres de Mardochée aussi fidèlement qu’à l’époque où elle était sous sa tutelle.

Dans ce même temps, comme Mardochée était assis à la porte du roi, Bigthan et Théresch, deux eunuques du roi, gardes du seuil, cédèrent à un mouvement d’irritation et voulurent porter la main sur le roi Assuérus.

En aquellos días, estando Mardochêo sentado á la puerta del rey, enojáronse Bigthán y Teres, dos eunucos del rey, de la guardia de la puerta, y procuraban poner mano en el rey Assuero.

In those days, while Mordecai sat in the king’s gate, two of the king’s chamberlains, Bigthan and Teresh, of those which kept the door, were wroth, and sought to lay hand on the king Ahasuerus.

Mardochée eut connaissance de la chose et en informa la reine Esther, qui la redit au roi de la part de Mardochée.

Mas entendido que fué esto por Mardochêo, él lo denunció á la reina Esther, y Esther lo dijo al rey en nombre de Mardochêo.

And the thing was known to Mordecai, who told it unto Esther the queen; and Esther certified the king thereof in Mordecai’s name.

This thing became known to Mordecai, who informed Esther the queen; and Esther informed the king in Mordecai’s name.

Le fait ayant été vérifié et trouvé exact, les deux eunuques furent pendus à un bois. Et cela fut écrit dans le livre des Chroniques en présence du roi.

Hízose entonces indagación de la cosa, y fué hallada cierta; por tanto, entrambos fueron colgados en una horca. Y escribióse el caso en el libro de las cosas de los tiempos delante del rey.

And when inquisition was made of the matter, it was found out; therefore they were both hanged on a tree: and it was written in the book of the chronicles before the king.

When this matter was investigated, and it was found to be so, they were both hanged on a gallows; and it was written in the book of the chronicles in the king’s presence.
