Als nach diesen Vorkommnissen die Aufregung des Königs Ahasveros sich gelegt hatte und er an Wasthi und ihr Verhalten und an den gegen sie gefaßten Beschluß zurückdachte,

PASADAS estas cosas, sosegada ya la ira del rey Assuero, acordóse de Vasthi, y de lo que hizo, y de lo que fué sentenciado contra ella.

Man lasse ihnen dann die zur Schönheitspflege erforderliche Behandlung zuteil werden,

Nun lebte in der Residenz Susa ein jüdischer Mann namens Mardochai, der Sohn Jairs, des Sohnes Simeis, des Sohnes des Kis, aus dem Stamme Benjamin;

El cual había sido trasportado de Jerusalem con los cautivos que fueron llevados con Jechônías rey de Judá, á quien hizo trasportar Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia.

Sucedió pues, que como se divulgó el mandamiento del rey y su acuerdo, y siendo reunidas muchas mozas en Susán residencia regia, á cargo de Hegai, fué tomada también Esther para casa del rey, al cuidado de Hegai, guarda de las mujeres.

So it came to pass, when the king’s commandment and his decree was heard, and when many maidens were gathered together unto Shushan the palace, to the custody of Hegai, that Esther was brought also unto the king’s house, to the custody of Hegai, keeper of the women.

Weil nun das junge Mädchen ihm gefiel und seine Gunst gewann, war er eifrig darauf bedacht, ihr die wirksamsten Schönheitsmittel und eine passende Kost zukommen zu lassen und ihr die sieben auserlesensten Dienerinnen aus dem königlichen Schlosse zu überweisen und sie mit ihren Dienerinnen im schönsten Teile des Frauenhauses unterzubringen.

Y la moza agradó en sus ojos, y halló gracia delante de él; por lo que hizo darle prestamente sus atavíos y sus raciones, dándole también siete convenientes doncellas de la casa del rey; y pasóla con sus doncellas á lo mejor de la casa de las mujeres.

And the maiden pleased him, and she obtained kindness of him; and he speedily gave her her things for purification, with such things as belonged to her, and seven maidens, which were meet to be given her, out of the king’s house: and he preferred her and her maids unto the best place of the house of the women.

The maiden pleased him, and she obtained kindness from him. He quickly gave her cosmetics and her portions of food, and the seven choice maidens who were to be given her out of the king’s house. He moved her and her maidens to the best place in the women’s house.

Esther teilte aber niemandem etwas von ihrer jüdischen Herkunft und ihren Familienverhältnissen mit, weil Mardochai ihr verboten hatte, etwas davon zu verraten.

Esther no declaró su pueblo ni su nacimiento; porque Mardochêo le había mandado que no lo declarase.

Wenn aber die Reihe an irgendein junges Mädchen kam, sich zum König Ahasveros zu begeben, nachdem sie zwölf Monate lang nach den für die Frauen geltenden Verordnungen gelebt hatte – denn so lange Zeit erforderte ihre Schönheitspflege, nämlich sechs Monate lang eine Behandlung mit Myrrhenöl und sechs Monate mit Spezereien und anderen Schönheitsmitteln der Frauen –,

Y como llegaba el tiempo de cada una de las mozas para venir al rey Assuero, al cabo de haber estado ya doce meses conforme á la ley acerca de las mujeres (porque así se cumplía el tiempo de sus atavíos, esto es, seis meses con óleo de mirra, y seis meses con cosas aromáticas y afeites de mujeres),

Then thus came every maiden unto the king; whatsoever she desired was given her to go with her out of the house of the women unto the king’s house.

am Abend ging sie hinein, und am Morgen kehrte sie zurück, und zwar in das zweite Frauenhaus unter die Aufsicht des königlichen Kammerherrn Saasgas, des Hüters der Nebenfrauen; sie durfte dann nicht wieder zum König kommen, außer wenn der König Gefallen an ihr gefunden hatte und sie ausdrücklich berufen wurde.

Ella venía á la tarde, y á la mañana se volvía á la casa segunda de las mujeres, al cargo de Saasgaz eunuco del rey, guarda de las concubinas: no venía más al rey, salvo si el rey la quería, y era llamada por nombre.

Als nun Esther, die Tochter Abihails, des Oheims Mardochais, der sie als Tochter angenommen hatte, an der Reihe war, sich zum König zu begeben, da verlangte sie nichts, als was Hegai, der königliche Kammerherr, der Hüter der Frauen, ihr riet; denn Esther hatte sich die Zuneigung aller erworben, die sie sahen.

Darauf veranstaltete der König für alle seine Würdenträger und Beamten ein großes Festmahl zu Ehren der Esther, gewährte den Provinzen einen Steuererlaß und bewilligte eine Getreidespende mit königlicher Freigebigkeit.

in jenen Tagen also, während Mardochai sich gerade im Tor des Königs(palastes) aufhielt, gerieten Bigthan und Theres, zwei königliche Kammerherren aus der Zahl der Schwellenhüter, in solchen Zorn, daß sie dem König Ahasveros nach dem Leben trachteten.

En aquellos días, estando Mardochêo sentado á la puerta del rey, enojáronse Bigthán y Teres, dos eunucos del rey, de la guardia de la puerta, y procuraban poner mano en el rey Assuero.

In those days, while Mordecai sat in the king’s gate, two of the king’s chamberlains, Bigthan and Teresh, of those which kept the door, were wroth, and sought to lay hand on the king Ahasuerus.

Aber Mardochai erhielt Kunde von der Sache und machte der Königin Esther Mitteilung davon; Esther aber erstattete dem Könige Anzeige im Auftrage Mardochais.

Mas entendido que fué esto por Mardochêo, él lo denunció á la reina Esther, y Esther lo dijo al rey en nombre de Mardochêo.

And the thing was known to Mordecai, who told it unto Esther the queen; and Esther certified the king thereof in Mordecai’s name.

This thing became known to Mordecai, who informed Esther the queen; and Esther informed the king in Mordecai’s name.

Als nun die Sache untersucht wurde und sich als wahr herausstellte, wurden jene beiden ans Kreuz geschlagen und das Vorkommnis ins Buch der Zeitgeschichte für den König eingetragen.

Hízose entonces indagación de la cosa, y fué hallada cierta; por tanto, entrambos fueron colgados en una horca. Y escribióse el caso en el libro de las cosas de los tiempos delante del rey.

And when inquisition was made of the matter, it was found out; therefore they were both hanged on a tree: and it was written in the book of the chronicles before the king.

When this matter was investigated, and it was found to be so, they were both hanged on a gallows; and it was written in the book of the chronicles in the king’s presence.
