1*Après ces choses, le roi Assuérus agrandit Haman, fils d’Hammedatha, l’Agaguite, et l’éleva, et plaça son siège au-dessus de tous les princes qui étaient avec lui ;
2et tous les serviteurs du roi qui étaient à la porte du roi se courbaient et se prosternaient devant Haman : car le roi l’avait ainsi commandé à son égard. Mais Mardochée ne se courbait pas et ne se prosternait pas.
3Alors les serviteurs du roi qui étaient à la porte du roi dirent à Mardochée : Pourquoi transgresses-tu le commandement du roi ?
4Et il arriva que, comme ils lui parlaient jour après jour et qu’il ne les écoutait pas, ils informèrent Haman, pour voir si les affaires de Mardochée se maintiendraient ; car il leur avait déclaré qu’il était Juif.
5Et Haman vit que Mardochée ne se courbait pas et ne se prosternait pas devant lui ; et Haman fut rempli de fureur.
6Mais cela aurait été une chose méprisable à ses yeux que de mettre la main sur Mardochée seul, car on lui avait appris [quel était] le peuple de Mardochée, et Haman chercha à détruire tous les Juifs qui étaient dans tout le royaume d’Assuérus, le peuple de Mardochée.
7Au premier mois, qui est le mois de Nisan, la douzième année du roi Assuérus, on jeta le pur, c’est-à-dire le sort, devant Haman, pour chaque jour et pour chaque mois jusqu’au douzième [mois], qui est le mois d’Adar.
8Et Haman dit au roi Assuérus : Il y a un peuple dispersé et répandu parmi les peuples, dans toutes les provinces de ton royaume, et leurs lois sont différentes [de celles] de tous les peuples ; ils ne pratiquent pas les lois du roi, et il ne convient pas au roi de les laisser faire.
9Si le roi le trouve bon, qu’on écrive [l’ordre] de les détruire, et je pèserai 10 000 talents d’argent entre les mains de ceux qui font les affaires, pour qu’on les porte dans le trésor du roi.
10Et le roi ôta son anneau de sa main et le donna à Haman, fils d’Hammedatha, l’Agaguite, l’adversaire des Juifs.
11Et le roi dit à Haman : L’argent t’est donné, et le peuple, pour en faire ce qui sera bon à tes yeux.
12Et les scribes du roi furent appelés, le premier mois, le treizième jour du mois, et suivant tout ce qu’Haman commanda, on écrivit aux satrapes du roi et aux gouverneurs qui étaient [préposés] sur chaque province, et aux chefs de chaque peuple, à chaque province selon son écriture et à chaque peuple selon sa langue ; ce fut au nom du roi Assuérus qu’on écrivit, et on scella avec l’anneau du roi.
13Et les lettres furent envoyées par des courriers dans toutes les provinces du roi, pour détruire, tuer et faire périr tous les Juifs, depuis le jeune garçon jusqu’au vieillard, les enfants et les femmes, et pour que leurs biens soient mis au pillage, en un même jour, le treizième [jour] du douzième mois, qui est le mois d’Adar.
14Pour que l’édit soit rendu [public] dans chaque province, une copie de l’écrit fut portée à la connaissance de tous les peuples, afin qu’ils soient prêts pour ce jour-là.
15Les courriers partirent, pressés par la parole du roi. Et l’édit fut rendu à Suse, la capitale. Et le roi et Haman étaient assis à boire ; mais la ville de Suse était dans la consternation.

1DESPUÉS de estas cosas, el rey Assuero engrandeció á Amán hijo de Amadatha Agageo, y ensalzólo, y puso su silla sobre todos los príncipes que estaban con él.
2Y todos los siervos del rey que estaban á la puerta del rey, se arrodillaban é inclinaban á Amán, porque así se lo había mandado el rey; pero Mardochêo, ni se arrodillaba ni se humillaba.
3Y los siervos del rey que estaban á la puerta, dijeron á Mardochêo: ¿Por qué traspasas el mandamiento del rey?
4Y aconteció que, hablándole cada día de esta manera, y no escuchándolos él, denunciáronlo á Amán, por ver si las palabras de Mardochêo se mantendrían; porque ya él les había declarado que era Judío.
5Y vió Amán que Mardochêo ni se arrodillaba ni se humillaba delante de él; y llenóse de ira.
6Mas tuvo en poco meter mano en solo Mardochêo; que ya le habían declarado el pueblo de Mardochêo: y procuró Amán destruir á todos los Judíos que había en el reino de Assuero, al pueblo de Mardochêo.
7En el mes primero, que es el mes de Nisán, en el año duodécimo del rey Assuero, fué echada Pur, esto es, la suerte, delante de Amán, de día en día y de mes en mes; y salió el mes duodécimo, que es el mes de Adar.
8Y dijo Amán al rey Assuero: Hay un pueblo esparcido y dividido entre los pueblos en todas las provincias de tu reino, y sus leyes son diferentes de las de todo pueblo, y no observan las leyes del rey; y al rey no viene provecho de dejarlos.
9Si place al rey, escríbase que sean destruídos; y yo pesaré diez mil talentos de plata en manos de los que manejan la hacienda, para que sean traídos á los tesoros del rey.
10Entonces el rey quitó su anillo de su mano, y diólo á Amán hijo de Amadatha Agageo, enemigo de los Judíos,
11Y díjole: La plata propuesta sea para ti, y asimismo el pueblo, para que hagas de él lo que bien te pareciere.
12Entonces fueron llamados los escribanos del rey en el mes primero, á trece del mismo, y fué escrito conforme á todo lo que mandó Amán, á los príncipes del rey, y á los capitanes que estaban sobre cada provincia, y á los príncipes de cada pueblo, á cada provincia según su escritura, y á cada pueblo según su lengua: en nombre del rey Assuero fué escrito, y signado con el anillo del rey.
13Y fueron enviadas letras por mano de los correos á todas las provincias del rey, para destruir, y matar, y exterminar á todos los Judíos, desde el niño hasta el viejo, niños y mujeres en un día, en el trece del mes duodécimo, que es el mes de Adar, y para apoderarse de su despojo.
14La copia del escrito que se diese por mandamiento en cada provincia, fué publicada á todos los pueblos, á fin de que estuviesen apercibidos para aquel día.
15Y salieron los correos de priesa por mandato del rey, y el edicto fué dado en Susán capital del reino. Y el rey y Amán estaban sentados á beber, y la ciudad de Susán estaba conmovida.
King James Version
1After these things did king Ahasuerus promote Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him, and set his seat above all the princes that were with him.
2And all the king’s servants, that were in the king’s gate, bowed, and reverenced Haman: for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence.
3Then the king’s servants, which were in the king’s gate, said unto Mordecai, Why transgressest thou the king’s commandment?
4Now it came to pass, when they spake daily unto him, and he hearkened not unto them, that they told Haman, to see whether Mordecai’s matters would stand: for he had told them that he was a Jew.
5And when Haman saw that Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence, then was Haman full of wrath.
6And he thought scorn to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had shewed him the people of Mordecai: wherefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai.
7In the first month, that is, the month Nisan, in the twelfth year of king Ahasuerus, they cast Pur, that is, the lot, before Haman from day to day, and from month to month, to the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar.
8And Haman said unto king Ahasuerus, There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws are diverse from all people; neither keep they the king’s laws: therefore it is not for the king’s profit to suffer them.
9If it please the king, let it be written that they may be destroyed: and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver to the hands of those that have the charge of the business, to bring it into the king’s treasuries.
10And the king took his ring from his hand, and gave it unto Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the Jews’ enemy.
11And the king said unto Haman, The silver is given to thee, the people also, to do with them as it seemeth good to thee.
12Then were the king’s scribes called on the thirteenth day of the first month, and there was written according to all that Haman had commanded unto the king’s lieutenants, and to the governors that were over every province, and to the rulers of every people of every province according to the writing thereof, and to every people after their language; in the name of king Ahasuerus was it written, and sealed with the king’s ring.
13And the letters were sent by posts into all the king’s provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish, all Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, even upon the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, and to take the spoil of them for a prey.
14The copy of the writing for a commandment to be given in every province was published unto all people, that they should be ready against that day.
15The posts went out, being hastened by the king’s commandment, and the decree was given in Shushan the palace. And the king and Haman sat down to drink; but the city Shushan was perplexed.

1After these things King Ahasuerus promoted Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him, and set his seat above all the princes who were with him.
2All the king’s servants who were in the king’s gate bowed down and paid homage to Haman, for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai didn’t bow down or pay him homage.
3Then the king’s servants who were in the king’s gate said to Mordecai, “Why do you disobey the king’s commandment?”
4Now it came to pass, when they spoke daily to him, and he didn’t listen to them, that they told Haman, to see whether Mordecai’s reason would stand; for he had told them that he was a Jew.
5When Haman saw that Mordecai didn’t bow down nor pay him homage, Haman was full of wrath.
6But he scorned the thought of laying hands on Mordecai alone, for they had made known to him Mordecai’s people. Therefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews who were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even Mordecai’s people.
7In the first month, which is the month Nisan, in the twelfth year of King Ahasuerus, they cast Pur, that is, the lot, before Haman from day to day, and from month to month, and chose the twelfth month, which is the month Adar.
8Haman said to King Ahasuerus, “There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the peoples in all the provinces of your kingdom, and their laws are different from other people’s. They don’t keep the king’s laws. Therefore it is not for the king’s profit to allow them to remain.
9If it pleases the king, let it be written that they be destroyed; and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver into the hands of those who are in charge of the king’s business, to bring it into the king’s treasuries.”
10The king took his ring from his hand, and gave it to Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the Jews’ enemy.
11The king said to Haman, “The silver is given to you, the people also, to do with them as it seems good to you.”
12Then the king’s scribes were called in on the first month, on the thirteenth day of the month; and all that Haman commanded was written to the king’s local governors, and to the governors who were over every province, and to the princes of every people, to every province according to its writing, and to every people in their language. It was written in the name of King Ahasuerus, and it was sealed with the king’s ring.
13Letters were sent by couriers into all the king’s provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish, all Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, even on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, and to plunder their possessions.
14A copy of the letter, that the decree should be given out in every province, was published to all the peoples, that they should be ready against that day.
15The couriers went out in haste by the king’s commandment, and the decree was given out in the citadel of Susa. The king and Haman sat down to drink; but the city of Susa was perplexed.
