Après ces choses, le roi Assuérus fit monter au pouvoir Haman, fils d’Hammedatha, l’Agaguite; il l’éleva en dignité et plaça son siège au-dessus de ceux de tous les chefs qui étaient auprès de lui.

Tous les serviteurs du roi, qui se tenaient à la porte du roi, fléchissaient le genou et se prosternaient devant Haman, car tel était l’ordre du roi à son égard. Mais Mardochée ne fléchissait point le genou et ne se prosternait point.

Y todos los siervos del rey que estaban á la puerta del rey, se arrodillaban é inclinaban á Amán, porque así se lo había mandado el rey; pero Mardochêo, ni se arrodillaba ni se humillaba.

And all the king’s servants, that were in the king’s gate, bowed, and reverenced Haman: for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence.

Et les serviteurs du roi, qui se tenaient à la porte du roi, dirent à Mardochée: Pourquoi transgresses-tu l’ordre du roi?

Y los siervos del rey que estaban á la puerta, dijeron á Mardochêo: ¿Por qué traspasas el mandamiento del rey?

Comme ils le lui répétaient chaque jour et qu’il ne les écoutait pas, ils en firent rapport à Haman, pour voir si Mardochée persisterait dans sa résolution; car il leur avait dit qu’il était Juif.

Y aconteció que, hablándole cada día de esta manera, y no escuchándolos él, denunciáronlo á Amán, por ver si las palabras de Mardochêo se mantendrían; porque ya él les había declarado que era Judío.

Now it came to pass, when they spake daily unto him, and he hearkened not unto them, that they told Haman, to see whether Mordecai’s matters would stand: for he had told them that he was a Jew.

Et Haman vit que Mardochée ne fléchissait point le genou et ne se prosternait point devant lui. Il fut rempli de fureur;

mais il dédaigna de porter la main sur Mardochée seul, car on lui avait dit de quel peuple était Mardochée, et il voulut détruire le peuple de Mardochée, tous les Juifs qui se trouvaient dans tout le royaume d’Assuérus.

Mas tuvo en poco meter mano en solo Mardochêo; que ya le habían declarado el pueblo de Mardochêo: y procuró Amán destruir á todos los Judíos que había en el reino de Assuero, al pueblo de Mardochêo.

And he thought scorn to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had shewed him the people of Mordecai: wherefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai.

Au premier mois, qui est le mois de Nisan, la douzième année du roi Assuérus, on jeta le pur, c’est-à-dire le sort, devant Haman, pour chaque jour et pour chaque mois, jusqu’au douzième mois, qui est le mois d’Adar.

En el mes primero, que es el mes de Nisán, en el año duodécimo del rey Assuero, fué echada Pur, esto es, la suerte, delante de Amán, de día en día y de mes en mes; y salió el mes duodécimo, que es el mes de Adar.

Alors Haman dit au roi Assuérus: Il y a dans toutes les provinces de ton royaume un peuple dispersé et à part parmi les peuples, ayant des lois différentes de celles de tous les peuples et n’observant point les lois du roi. Il n’est pas dans l’intérêt du roi de le laisser en repos.

And Haman said unto king Ahasuerus, There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws are diverse from all people; neither keep they the king’s laws: therefore it is not for the king’s profit to suffer them.

Si le roi le trouve bon, qu’on écrive l’ordre de les faire périr; et je pèserai dix mille talents d’argent entre les mains des fonctionnaires, pour qu’on les porte dans le trésor du roi.

Si place al rey, escríbase que sean destruídos; y yo pesaré diez mil talentos de plata en manos de los que manejan la hacienda, para que sean traídos á los tesoros del rey.

Le roi ôta son anneau de la main, et le remit à Haman, fils d’Hammedatha, l’Agaguite, ennemi des Juifs.

Ce fut au nom du roi Assuérus que l’on écrivit, et on scella avec l’anneau du roi.

Entonces fueron llamados los escribanos del rey en el mes primero, á trece del mismo, y fué escrito conforme á todo lo que mandó Amán, á los príncipes del rey, y á los capitanes que estaban sobre cada provincia, y á los príncipes de cada pueblo, á cada provincia según su escritura, y á cada pueblo según su lengua: en nombre del rey Assuero fué escrito, y signado con el anillo del rey.

Then were the king’s scribes called on the thirteenth day of the first month, and there was written according to all that Haman had commanded unto the king’s lieutenants, and to the governors that were over every province, and to the rulers of every people of every province according to the writing thereof, and to every people after their language; in the name of king Ahasuerus was it written, and sealed with the king’s ring.

Then the king’s scribes were called in on the first month, on the thirteenth day of the month; and all that Haman commanded was written to the king’s local governors, and to the governors who were over every province, and to the princes of every people, to every province according to its writing, and to every people in their language. Les lettres furent envoyées par les courriers dans toutes les provinces du roi, pour qu’on détruisît, qu’on tuât et qu’on fît périr tous les Juifs, jeunes et vieux, petits enfants et femmes, en un seul jour, le treizième du douzième mois, qui est le mois d’Adar, et pour que leurs biens fussent livrés au pillage.

Y fueron enviadas letras por mano de los correos á todas las provincias del rey, para destruir, y matar, y exterminar á todos los Judíos, desde el niño hasta el viejo, niños y mujeres en un día, en el trece del mes duodécimo, que es el mes de Adar, y para apoderarse de su despojo.

Les courriers partirent en toute hâte, d’après l’ordre du roi. L’édit fut aussi publié dans Suse, la capitale; et tandis que le roi et Haman étaient à boire, la ville de Suse était dans la consternation.

Y salieron los correos de priesa por mandato del rey, y el edicto fué dado en Susán capital del reino. Y el rey y Amán estaban sentados á beber, y la ciudad de Susán estaba conmovida.

The posts went out, being hastened by the king’s commandment, and the decree was given in Shushan the palace. And the king and Haman sat down to drink; but the city Shushan was perplexed.
