A los cuales dijeron los hijos de Israel: ¡Ojalá hubiésemos muerto a manos del Señor en la tierra de Egipto, cuando estábamos sentados junto a las calderas llenas de carne, y comíamos pan cuanto queríamos! ¿Por qué nos habéis traído a este desierto, para matar de hambre a toda la gente?
Y decíanles los hijos de Israel: Ojalá hubiéramos muerto por mano de Jehová en la tierra de Egipto, cuando nos sentábamos á las ollas de las carnes, cuando comíamos pan en hartura; pues nos habéis sacado á este desierto, para matar de hambre á toda esta multitud.
And the children of Israel said unto them, Would to God we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh pots, and when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.

Pero el Señor le dijo a Moisés: Voy a hacer que os llueva pan del cielo; salga el pueblo, y recoja lo que basta para cada día, pues quiero probarle, a ver si se ajusta o no a mi ley.
Y Jehová dijo á Moisés: He aquí yo os haré llover pan del cielo; y el pueblo saldrá, y cogerá para cada un día, para que yo le pruebe si anda en mi ley, ó no.
Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.

Mas el día sexto prevengan lo que han de reservar, y así cojan doble de lo que solían coger cada día.

Entonces Moisés, y Aarón dijeron a todos los hijos de Israel: Esta tarde conoceréis que el Señor es quien os ha sacado de la tierra de Egipto;

y mañana veréis brillar el poder del Señor, pues ha oído que os quejáis de él. Por lo que hace a nosotros, ¿qué somos para que andéis murmurando contra nosotros?
Y á la mañana veréis la gloria de Jehová; porque él ha oído vuestras murmuraciones contra Jehová; que nosotros, ¿qué somos, para que vosotros murmuréis contra nosotros?
And in the morning, then ye shall see the glory of the LORD; for that he heareth your murmurings against the LORD: and what are we, that ye murmur against us?
In the morning, you shall see the LORD’s glory; because he hears your murmurings against the LORD. Who are we, that you murmur against us?”
Y añadió Moisés: Esta tarde misma os dará el Señor a comer carnes y a la mañana pan, hasta que no queráis más, por cuanto ha oído vuestras quejas con que habéis murmurado contra él. Porque, ¿quiénes somos nosotros? Contra el Señor son, y no contra nosotros vuestras murmuraciones.
Y dijo Moisés: Jehová os dará á la tarde carne para comer, y á la mañana pan en hartura; por cuanto Jehová ha oído vuestras murmuraciones con que habéis murmurado contra él: que nosotros, ¿qué somos? vuestras murmuraciones no son contra nosotros, sino contra Jehová.
And Moses said, This shall be, when the LORD shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; for that the LORD heareth your murmurings which ye murmur against him: and what are we? your murmurings are not against us, but against the LORD.
Moses said, “Now the LORD will give you meat to eat in the evening, and in the morning bread to satisfy you, because the LORD hears your murmurings which you murmur against him. And who are we? Your murmurings are not against us, but against the LORD.”
Dijo también Moisés a Aarón: Di a todo el pueblo de los hijos de Israel: Venid, presentaos al Señor, porque ha oído vuestras murmuraciones.
Y dijo Moisés á Aarón: Di á toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel: Acercaos á la presencia de Jehová; que él ha oído vuestras murmuraciones.
And Moses spake unto Aaron, Say unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, Come near before the LORD: for he hath heard your murmurings.

Aún estaba hablando Aarón a toda la muchedumbre de los hijos de Israel, cuando volviendo ellos los ojos hacia el desierto, he aquí que la majestad del Señor se apareció en medio de la nube,
Y hablando Aarón á toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel, miraron hacia el desierto, y he aquí la gloria de Jehová, que apareció en la nube.
And it came to pass, as Aaron spake unto the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and, behold, the glory of the LORD appeared in the cloud.

He oído las murmuraciones de los hijos de Israel. Diles: Esta tarde comeréis carnes, y a la mañana es saciaréis de pan; con lo que sabréis que Yo soy el Señor Dios vuestro.
Yo he oído las murmuraciones de los hijos de Israel; háblales, diciendo: Entre las dos tardes comeréis carne, y por la mañana os hartaréis de pan, y sabréis que yo soy Jehová vuestro Dios.
I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak unto them, saying, At even ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread; and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God.
“I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel. Speak to them, saying, ‘At evening you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall be filled with bread. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God.’”
Llegada, pues, la tarde, vinieron tantas codornices, que cubrieron todo el campamento; y por la mañana se halló esparcido también un rocío alrededor de él,
Y venida la tarde subieron codornices que cubrieron el real; y á la mañana descendió rocío en derredor del real.
And it came to pass, that at even the quails came up, and covered the camp: and in the morning the dew lay round about the host.

el cual, habiendo cubierto la superficie de la tierra, quedó en el desierto sobre el suelo una cosa menuda, semejante a la escarcha que cae sobre la tierra.
Y como el rocío cesó de descender, he aquí sobre la haz del desierto una cosa menuda, redonda, menuda como una helada sobre la tierra.
And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness there lay a small round thing, as small as the hoar frost on the ground.

Lo que visto por los hijos de Israel se dijeron unos a otros: ¿Manhú?, que significa: ¿Qué es esto? Porque no sabían qué cosa fuese. A los cuales dijo Moisés: Este es el pan que el Señor os ha dado para comer.
Y viéndolo los hijos de Israel, se dijeron unos á otros: ¿Qué es esto? porque no sabían qué era. Entonces Moisés les dijo: Es el pan que Jehová os da para comer.
And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna: for they wist not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat.
When the children of Israel saw it, they said to one another, “What is it?” For they didn’t know what it was. Moses said to them, “It is the bread which the LORD has given you to eat.
Ved lo que el mismo Señor ha ordenado: Recoja de ello cada uno cuanto basta para su sustento; así pues, cogeréis un gomor por persona, según el número de almas que habitan en cada tienda.
Esto es lo que Jehová ha mandado: cogeréis de él cada uno según pudiere comer; un gomer por cabeza, conforme al número de vuestras personas, tomaréis cada uno para los que están en su tienda.
This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded, Gather of it every man according to his eating, an omer for every man, according to the number of your persons; take ye every man for them which are in his tents.

Así lo hicieron los hijos de Israel, y recogieron quién más, quién menos.
Y los hijos de Israel lo hicieron así: y recogieron unos más, otros menos:
And the children of Israel did so, and gathered, some more, some less.

Lo midieron después por el gomor; ni quien más había cogido, por eso tuvo más, ni quien menos recogió, tuvo menos, sino que cada cual reunió tasadamente aquella porción que podía comer.
Y medíanlo por gomer, y no sobraba al que había recogido mucho, ni faltaba al que había recogido poco: cada uno recogió conforme á lo que había de comer.
And when they did mete it with an omer, he that gathered much had nothing over, and he that gathered little had no lack; they gathered every man according to his eating.

Les advirtió además Moisés: Ninguno reserve de ello para mañana.
Y díjoles Moisés: Ninguno deje nada de ello para mañana.
And Moses said, Let no man leave of it till the morning.

Algunos no le obedecieron, sino que lo reservaron para el día siguiente, y empezó a hervir en gusanos, y se pudrió; por lo cual se enojó Moisés contra ellos.
Mas ellos no obedecieron á Moisés, sino que algunos dejaron de ello para otro día, y crió gusanos, y pudrióse; y enojóse contra ellos Moisés.
Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto Moses; but some of them left of it until the morning, and it bred worms, and stank: and Moses was wroth with them.

Recogía, pues, cada uno de madrugada cuanto le podía bastar para su mantenimiento; y calentando el sol, se derretía el maná del campo.

Pero el sexto recogió uno el doble, a saber dos medidas de gomor por cabeza; de lo cual vinieron a dar cuenta a Moisés todos los príncipes del pueblo.
En el sexto día recogieron doblada comida, dos gomeres para cada uno: y todos los príncipes de la congregación vinieron á Moisés, y se lo hicieron saber.
And it came to pass, that on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for one man: and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses.

Y él les dijo: Esto es lo que tiene ordenado el Señor. Mañana es el día de sábado, cuyo descanso está consagrado al Señor. Haced, pues, hoy todo lo que tengáis que hacer, y coged lo que haya de cocerse, y todo lo que sobrare guardadlo para mañana.
Y él les dijo: Esto es lo que ha dicho Jehová: Mañana es el santo sábado, el reposo de Jehová: lo que hubiereis de cocer, cocedlo hoy, y lo que hubiereis de cocinar, cocinadlo; y todo lo que os sobrare, guardadlo para mañana.
And he said unto them, This is that which the LORD hath said, To morrow is the rest of the holy sabbath unto the LORD: bake that which ye will bake to day, and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning.
He said to them, “This is that which the LORD has spoken, ‘Tomorrow is a solemn rest, a holy Sabbath to the LORD. Bake that which you want to bake, and boil that which you want to boil; and all that remains over lay up for yourselves to be kept until the morning.’”
Lo hicieron como Moisés lo había mandado, y el maná no se pudrió, ni se halló en él gusano alguno.
Y ellos lo guardaron hasta la mañana, según que Moisés había mandado, y no se pudrió, ni hubo en él gusano.
And they laid it up till the morning, as Moses bade: and it did not stink, neither was there any worm therein.

Dijo entonces Moisés: Este lo comeréis hoy; porque siendo sábado del Señor, hoy no le habrá en el campo.

And Moses said, Eat that to day; for to day is a sabbath unto the LORD: to day ye shall not find it in the field.
Moses said, “Eat that today, for today is a Sabbath to the LORD. Today you shall not find it in the field.
Recogedle durante los seis días; pues el día séptimo es el sábado del Señor, y por eso no se hallará.
En los seis días lo recogeréis; mas el séptimo día es sábado, en el cual no se hallará.
Six days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day, which is the sabbath, in it there shall be none.

Llegó el día séptimo; y habiendo salido algunos del pueblo a recogerle, no hallaron nada.

And it came to pass, that there went out some of the people on the seventh day for to gather, and they found none.

Por lo cual dijo el Señor a Moisés: ¿Hasta cuándo habéis de ser rebeldes a mis mandamientos y a mi ley?

And the LORD said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws?
The LORD said to Moses, “How long do you refuse to keep my commandments and my laws?
Reflexionad que el Señor os ha encargado la observancia del sábado, y por eso el día sexto os da doblado alimento; estese cada cual en su tienda; ninguno salga fuera el día séptimo.
Mirad que Jehová os dió el sábado, y por eso os da en el sexto día pan para dos días. Estése, pues, cada uno en su estancia, y nadie salga de su lugar en el séptimo día.
See, for that the LORD hath given you the sabbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.
Behold, because the LORD has given you the Sabbath, therefore he gives you on the sixth day the bread of two days. Everyone stay in his place. Let no one go out of his place on the seventh day.”
Y observó el pueblo el descanso el día séptimo.
Así el pueblo reposó el séptimo día.

Y la familia de Israel llamó aquel manjar Man; el cual era blanco, del tamaño de la simiente del cilantro, y su sabor, como torta de flor de harina, amasada con miel.

Dijo también Moisés: Esto es lo que ha mandado el Señor: Llena de maná un gomor, y guárdese para las generaciones venideras, a fin de que vean el pan con que yo os sustenté en el desierto después de que os saqué de la tierra de Egipto.
Y dijo Moisés: Esto es lo que Jehová ha mandado: Henchirás un gomer de él para que se guarde para vuestros descendientes, á fin de que vean el pan que yo os dí á comer en el desierto, cuando yo os saqué de la tierra de Egipto.
And Moses said, This is the thing which the LORD commandeth, Fill an omer of it to be kept for your generations; that they may see the bread wherewith I have fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you forth from the land of Egypt.
Moses said, “This is the thing which the LORD has commanded, ‘Let an omer-full of it be kept throughout your generations, that they may see the bread with which I fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you out of the land of Egypt.’”
Dijo, pues, Moisés a Aarón: Toma un vaso, y echa en él todo el maná que pueda caber en tu gomor, y colócale delante del Señor, para que se conserve en vuestra posteridad,

como Dios me tiene mandado. Aarón lo puso después en el Tabernáculo, para que se conservare.
Y Aarón lo puso delante del Testimonio para guardarlo, como Jehová lo mandó á Moisés.

Una medida de gomor es la décima parte de un efi.
