1Moisés respondió: “¿Y qué pasa si no me creen ni me hacen caso, y me dicen: Yahvé no se te ha aparecido?”
2Yahvé le preguntó: “¿Qué tienes en la mano?” Él respondió: “Una vara”.
3Dios le dijo: “Tírala al suelo”. Moisés la tiró al suelo, y la vara se convirtió en una serpiente; y Moisés se alejó de ella huyendo.
4Pero Yahvé le dijo: “Extiende la mano y agárrala por la cola”. Moisés extendió la mano, la agarró, y la serpiente volvió a ser una vara en su mano.
5“Esto es para que crean que se te ha aparecido Yahvé, el Dios de sus antepasados, el Dios de Abraham, el Dios de Isaac y el Dios de Jacob”.
6Luego Yahvé le dijo: “Mete la mano dentro de tu ropa”. Moisés metió la mano dentro de su ropa, y cuando la sacó, su mano estaba cubierta de lepra, blanca como la nieve.
7Dios le ordenó: “Vuelve a meter la mano dentro de tu ropa”. Él la volvió a meter, y cuando la sacó, vio que estaba sana de nuevo, como el resto de su piel.
8“Si no te creen ni te hacen caso con la primera señal, te creerán con la segunda.
9Y si a pesar de estas dos señales no te creen ni te hacen caso, sacarás agua del río y la derramarás sobre la tierra seca. Esa agua del río se convertirá en sangre al tocar el suelo”.
10Moisés le dijo a Yahvé: “Ay, Señor, yo nunca he tenido facilidad de palabra, ni antes ni ahora que le hablas a tu siervo. Soy muy lento para hablar y me cuesta expresarme”.
11Yahvé le respondió: “¿Quién le dio la boca al ser humano? ¿Acaso no soy yo, Yahvé, quien lo hace mudo o sordo, o quien le da la vista o lo hace ciego?
12Así que ve, que yo estaré en tu boca y te enseñaré lo que tienes que decir”.
13Pero Moisés insistió: “Ay, Señor, te ruego que envíes a otra persona”.
14Entonces Yahvé se enojó con Moisés y le dijo: “¿Qué hay de tu hermano Aarón, el levita? Yo sé que él habla muy bien. Además, ya viene en camino a buscarte, y se alegrará mucho al verte.
15Tú le hablarás y le pondrás las palabras en la boca. Yo estaré con ustedes cuando hablen, y les enseñaré lo que tienen que hacer.
16Él hablará por ti ante el pueblo. Él será como tu boca, y tú serás para él como Dios.
17Lleva en tu mano esta vara, porque con ella harás las señales”.
18Moisés se fue y regresó a donde estaba su suegro Jetro, y le dijo: “Por favor, déjame volver a Egipto para ver si mis hermanos todavía están vivos.” Jetro le respondió: “Vete en paz”.
19Yahvé le había dicho a Moisés en Madián: “Regresa a Egipto, porque ya han muerto todos los que querían quitarte la vida”.
20Moisés tomó a su esposa y a sus hijos, los montó en un burro y emprendió el regreso a Egipto. Moisés llevaba en la mano la vara de Dios.
21Yahvé le dijo a Moisés: “Cuando regreses a Egipto, asegúrate de hacer ante el faraón todos los milagros que te he dado el poder de realizar. Pero yo haré que él se ponga terco, y no dejará ir al pueblo.
22Entonces le dirás al faraón: Así dice Yahvé: Israel es mi hijo, mi primogénito,
23y yo te he ordenado que dejes ir a mi hijo para que me adore. Pero como te has negado a dejarlo ir, voy a quitarle la vida a tu hijo primogénito”.
24En el camino, en el lugar donde pasaban la noche, Yahvé salió al encuentro de Moisés y quiso matarlo.
25Entonces Séfora agarró un cuchillo de pedernal, le cortó el prepucio a su hijo y lo arrojó a los pies de Moisés, diciendo: “Eres para mí un esposo de sangre”.
26Así que Dios lo dejó vivir. Ella le dijo “esposo de sangre” por causa de la circuncisión.
27Yahvé le dijo a Aarón: “Ve al desierto a encontrarte con Moisés”. Aarón fue, se encontró con él en el monte de Dios y lo besó.
28Moisés le contó a Aarón todo lo que Yahvé le había encargado decir, y le habló de todas las señales milagrosas que le había mandado hacer.
29Moisés y Aarón se fueron y reunieron a todos los líderes de los hijos de Israel.
30Aarón repitió todo lo que Yahvé le había dicho a Moisés, y realizó las señales delante del pueblo.
31El pueblo creyó, y al escuchar que Yahvé había venido a ver a los hijos de Israel y que había visto su sufrimiento, se inclinaron y adoraron.

1ENTONCES Moisés respondió, y dijo: He aquí que ellos no me creerán, ni oirán mi voz; porque dirán: No te ha aparecido Jehová.
2Y Jehová dijo: ¿Qué es eso que tienes en tu mano? Y él respondió: Una vara.
3Y él le dijo: Échala en tierra. Y él la echó en tierra, y tornóse una culebra: y Moisés huía de ella.
4Entonces dijo Jehová á Moisés: Extiende tu mano, y tómala por la cola. Y él extendió su mano, y tomóla, y tornóse vara en su mano.
5Por esto creerán que se te ha aparecido Jehová, el Dios de tus padres, el Dios de Abraham, Dios de Isaac y Dios de Jacob.
6Y díjole más Jehová: Mete ahora tu mano en tu seno. Y él metió la mano en su seno; y como la sacó, he aquí que su mano estaba leprosa como la nieve.
7Y dijo: Vuelve á meter tu mano en tu seno: y él volvió á meter su mano en su seno; y volviéndola á sacar del seno, he aquí que se había vuelto como la otra carne.
8Sí aconteciere, que no te creyeren, ni obedecieren á la voz de la primera señal, creerán á la voz de la postrera.
9Y si aun no creyeren á estas dos señales, ni oyeren tu voz, tomarás de las aguas del río, y derrámalas en tierra; y volverse han aquellas aguas que tomarás del río, se volverán sangre en la tierra.
10Entonces dijo Moisés á Jehová: ¡Ay Señor! yo no soy hombre de palabras de ayer ni de anteayer, ni aun desde que tú hablas á tu siervo; porque soy tardo en el habla y torpe de lengua.
11Y Jehová le respondió: ¿Quién dió la boca al hombre? ¿ó quién hizo al mudo y al sordo, al que ve y al ciego? ¿no soy yo Jehová?
12Ahora pues, ve, que yo seré en tu boca, y te enseñaré lo que hayas de hablar.
13Y él dijo: ¡Ay Señor! envía por mano del que has de enviar.
14Entonces Jehová se enojó contra Moisés, y dijo: ¿No conozco yo á tu hermano Aarón, Levita, y que él hablará? Y aun he aquí que él te saldrá á recibir, y en viéndote, se alegrará en su corazón.
15Tú hablarás á él, y pondrás en su boca las palabras, y yo seré en tu boca y en la suya, y os enseñaré lo que hayáis de hacer.
16Y él hablará por ti al pueblo; y él te será á ti en lugar de boca, y tú serás para él en lugar de Dios.
17Y tomarás esta vara en tu mano, con la cual harás las señales.
18Así se fué Moisés, y volviendo á su suegro Jethro, díjole: Iré ahora, y volveré á mis hermanos que están en Egipto, para ver si aun viven. Y Jethro dijo á Moisés: Ve en paz.
19Dijo también Jehová á Moisés en Madián: Ve, y vuélvete á Egipto, porque han muerto todos los que procuraban tu muerte.
20Entonces Moisés tomó su mujer y sus hijos, y púsolos sobre un asno, y volvióse á tierra de Egipto: tomó también Moisés la vara de Dios en su mano.
21Y dijo Jehová á Moisés: Cuando hubiereis vuelto á Egipto, mira que hagas delante de Faraón todas las maravillas que he puesto en tu mano: yo empero endureceré su corazón, de modo que no dejará ir al pueblo.
22Y dirás á Faraón: Jehová ha dicho así: Israel es mi hijo, mi primogénito.
23Ya te he dicho que dejes ir á mi hijo, para que me sirva, mas no has querido dejarlo ir: he aquí yo voy á matar á tu hijo, tu primogénito.
24Y aconteció en el camino, que en una posada le salió al encuentro Jehová, y quiso matarlo.
25Entonces Séphora cogió un afilado pedernal, y cortó el prepucio de su hijo, y echólo á sus pies, diciendo: A la verdad tú me eres un esposo de sangre.
26Así le dejó luego ir. Y ella dijo: Esposo de sangre, á causa de la circuncisión.
27Y Jehová dijo á Aarón: Ve á recibir á Moisés al desierto. Y él fué, y encontrólo en el monte de Dios, y besóle.
28Entonces contó Moisés á Aarón todas las palabras de Jehová que le enviaba, y todas las señales que le había dado.
29Y fueron Moisés y Aarón, y juntaron todos los ancianos de los hijos de Israel:
30Y habló Aarón todas las palabras que Jehová había dicho á Moisés, é hizo las señales delante de los ojos del pueblo.
31Y el pueblo creyó: y oyendo que Jehová había visitado los hijos de Israel, y que había visto su aflicción, inclináronse y adoraron.

1And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The LORD hath not appeared unto thee.
2And the LORD said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod.
3And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it.
4And the LORD said unto Moses, Put forth thine hand, and take it by the tail. And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand:
5That they may believe that the LORD God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath appeared unto thee.
6And the LORD said furthermore unto him, Put now thine hand into thy bosom. And he put his hand into his bosom: and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous as snow.
7And he said, Put thine hand into thy bosom again. And he put his hand into his bosom again; and plucked it out of his bosom, and, behold, it was turned again as his other flesh.
8And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe thee, neither hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign.
9And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe also these two signs, neither hearken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: and the water which thou takest out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land.
10And Moses said unto the LORD, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.
11And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man’s mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD?
12Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.
13And he said, O my Lord, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt send.
14And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart.
15And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do.
16And he shall be thy spokesman unto the people: and he shall be, even he shall be to thee instead of a mouth, and thou shalt be to him instead of God.
17And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do signs.
18And Moses went and returned to Jethro his father in law, and said unto him, Let me go, I pray thee, and return unto my brethren which are in Egypt, and see whether they be yet alive. And Jethro said to Moses, Go in peace.
19And the LORD said unto Moses in Midian, Go, return into Egypt: for all the men are dead which sought thy life.
20And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt: and Moses took the rod of God in his hand.
21And the LORD said unto Moses, When thou goest to return into Egypt, see that thou do all those wonders before Pharaoh, which I have put in thine hand: but I will harden his heart, that he shall not let the people go.
22And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD, Israel is my son, even my firstborn:
23And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn.
24And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the LORD met him, and sought to kill him.
25Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a bloody husband art thou to me.
26So he let him go: then she said, A bloody husband thou art, because of the circumcision.
27And the LORD said to Aaron, Go into the wilderness to meet Moses. And he went, and met him in the mount of God, and kissed him.
28And Moses told Aaron all the words of the LORD who had sent him, and all the signs which he had commanded him.
29And Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel:
30And Aaron spake all the words which the LORD had spoken unto Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people.
31And the people believed: and when they heard that the LORD had visited the children of Israel, and that he had looked upon their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshipped.
World English Bible
1Moses answered, “But, behold, they will not believe me, nor listen to my voice; for they will say, ‘The LORD has not appeared to you.’”
2The LORD said to him, “What is that in your hand?” He said, “A rod.”
3He said, “Throw it on the ground.” He threw it on the ground, and it became a snake; and Moses ran away from it.
4The LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand, and take it by the tail.” He stretched out his hand, and took hold of it, and it became a rod in his hand.
5“This is so that they may believe that the LORD, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.”
6The LORD said furthermore to him, “Now put your hand inside your cloak.” He put his hand inside his cloak, and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous, as white as snow.
7He said, “Put your hand inside your cloak again.” He put his hand inside his cloak again, and when he took it out of his cloak, behold, it had turned again as his other flesh.
8“It will happen, if they will not believe you or listen to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign.
9It will happen, if they will not believe even these two signs or listen to your voice, that you shall take of the water of the river, and pour it on the dry land. The water which you take out of the river will become blood on the dry land.”
10Moses said to the LORD, “O Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before now, nor since you have spoken to your servant; for I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.”
11The LORD said to him, “Who made man’s mouth? Or who makes one mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Isn’t it I, the LORD?
12Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth, and teach you what you shall speak.”
13Moses said, “Oh, Lord, please send someone else.”
14The LORD’s anger burned against Moses, and he said, “What about Aaron, your brother, the Levite? I know that he can speak well. Also, behold, he is coming out to meet you. When he sees you, he will be glad in his heart.
15You shall speak to him, and put the words in his mouth. I will be with your mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what you shall do.
16He will be your spokesman to the people. It will happen that he will be to you a mouth, and you will be to him as God.
17You shall take this rod in your hand, with which you shall do the signs.”
18Moses went and returned to Jethro his father-in-law, and said to him, “Please let me go and return to my brothers who are in Egypt, and see whether they are still alive.” Jethro said to Moses, “Go in peace.”
19The LORD said to Moses in Midian, “Go, return into Egypt; for all the men who sought your life are dead.”
20Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them on a donkey, and he returned to the land of Egypt. Moses took God’s rod in his hand.
21The LORD said to Moses, “When you go back into Egypt, see that you do before Pharaoh all the wonders which I have put in your hand, but I will harden his heart and he will not let the people go.
22You shall tell Pharaoh, ‘The LORD says, Israel is my son, my firstborn,
23and I have said to you, “Let my son go, that he may serve me;” and you have refused to let him go. Behold, I will kill your firstborn son.’”
24On the way at a lodging place, the LORD met Moses and wanted to kill him.
25Then Zipporah took a flint, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet; and she said, “Surely you are a bridegroom of blood to me.”
26So he let him alone. Then she said, “You are a bridegroom of blood,” because of the circumcision.
27The LORD said to Aaron, “Go into the wilderness to meet Moses.” He went, and met him on God’s mountain, and kissed him.
28Moses told Aaron all the LORD’s words with which he had sent him, and all the signs with which he had instructed him.
29Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel.
30Aaron spoke all the words which the LORD had spoken to Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people.
31The people believed, and when they heard that the LORD had visited the children of Israel, and that he had seen their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshiped.
