1Después vinieron Moisés y Aarón y le dijeron al faraón: “Esto es lo que dice Yahvé, el Dios de Israel: ‘Deja ir a mi pueblo para que me celebre una fiesta en el desierto’”.
2El faraón dijo: “¿Quién es Yahvé, para que yo escuche su voz y deje ir a Israel? No conozco a Yahvé, y además no dejaré ir a Israel”.
3Dijeron: “El Dios de los hebreos se ha encontrado con nosotros. Por favor, permítenos ir tres días de camino al desierto para ofrecer sacrificios a Yahvé, nuestro Dios, no sea que nos castigue con peste o con espada.”
4El rey de Egipto les dijo: “¿Por qué vosotros, Moisés y Aarón, apartáis al pueblo de su trabajo? Volved a vuestras tareas”.
5El faraón añadió: «He aquí que el pueblo de la tierra es ahora numeroso, y vosotros hacéis que descansen de sus tareas».
6Ese mismo día el faraón ordenó a los capataces del pueblo y a sus oficiales, diciendo:
7“Ya no daréis al pueblo paja para hacer ladrillos, como hacíais antes. Que vayan a recoger paja por sí mismos.
8Pero les exigiréis la misma cantidad de ladrillos que hacían antes. No disminuiréis nada de ella, porque están ociosos. Por eso claman diciendo: ‘Vamos a ofrecer sacrificios a nuestro Dios’.
9Que el trabajo más pesado recaiga sobre estos hombres, para que se ocupen en él y no presten atención a palabras mentirosas”.
10Los capataces del pueblo salieron con sus oficiales y hablaron al pueblo diciendo: “Esto es lo que dice el faraón: ‘No os daré paja.
11Id vosotros mismos y conseguid paja donde podáis encontrarla, porque no se disminuirá nada de vuestro trabajo’”.
12Así que el pueblo se dispersó por toda la tierra de Egipto para recoger rastrojos en lugar de paja.
13Los capataces los apremiaban diciendo: «¡Cumplid vuestra cuota de trabajo diaria, como cuando teníais paja!»
14Los oficiales de los hijos de Israel, a quienes los capataces del faraón habían puesto sobre ellos, fueron golpeados y se les preguntó: «¿Por qué no habéis cumplido vuestra cuota de hacer ladrillos, ni ayer ni hoy, como antes?»
15Entonces los oficiales de los hijos de Israel vinieron y clamaron al faraón, diciendo: “¿Por qué tratas así a tus siervos?
16No se nos da paja a tus siervos, y sin embargo nos dicen: ‘¡Haced ladrillos!’ Y he aquí que tus siervos son golpeados, pero la culpa es de tu propio pueblo.”
17Pero el faraón dijo: “¡Estáis ociosos! ¡Estáis ociosos! Por eso decís: ‘Vamos a ofrecer sacrificios a Yahvé’.
18¡Id, pues, ahora y trabajad! No se os dará paja, pero tendréis que entregar la misma cantidad de ladrillos.”
19Los oficiales de los hijos de Israel vieron que estaban en graves apuros cuando se les dijo: «¡No disminuiréis nada de vuestra cuota diaria de ladrillos!»
20Al salir de la presencia del faraón, se encontraron con Moisés y Aarón, que los estaban esperando en el camino.
21Y les dijeron: «¡Que Yahvé os mire y os juzgue, porque nos habéis hecho odiosos a los ojos del faraón y a los ojos de sus siervos, poniéndoles una espada en la mano para matarnos!»
22Moisés se volvió a Yahvé y le dijo: «Señor, ¿por qué has traído este mal sobre este pueblo? ¿Por qué me has enviado?
23Porque desde que me presenté al faraón para hablar en tu nombre, él ha maltratado a este pueblo, y tú no has librado a tu pueblo en absoluto».

1DESPUÉS entraron Moisés y Aarón á Faraón, y le dijeron: Jehová, el Dios de Israel, dice así: Deja ir á mi pueblo á celebrarme fiesta en el desierto.
2Y Faraón respondió: ¿Quién es Jehová, para que yo oiga su voz y deje ir á Israel? Yo no conozco á Jehová, ni tampoco dejaré ir á Israel.
3Y ellos dijeron: El Dios de los Hebreos nos ha encontrado: iremos, pues, ahora camino de tres días por el desierto, y sacrificaremos á Jehová nuestro Dios; porque no venga sobre nosotros con pestilencia ó con espada.
4Entonces el rey de Egipto les dijo: Moisés y Aarón, ¿por qué hacéis cesar al pueblo de su obra? idos á vuestros cargos.
5Dijo también Faraón: He aquí el pueblo de la tierra es ahora mucho, y vosotros les hacéis cesar de sus cargos.
6Y mandó Faraón aquel mismo día á los cuadrilleros del pueblo que le tenían á su cargo, y á sus gobernadores, diciendo:
7De aquí adelante no daréis paja al pueblo para hacer ladrillo, como ayer y antes de ayer; vayan ellos y recojan por sí mismos la paja:
8Y habéis de ponerles la tarea del ladrillo que hacían antes, y no les disminuiréis nada; porque están ociosos, y por eso levantan la voz diciendo: Vamos y sacrificaremos á nuestro Dios.
9Agrávese la servidumbre sobre ellos, para que se ocupen en ella, y no atiendan á palabras de mentira.
10Y saliendo los cuadrilleros del pueblo y sus gobernadores, hablaron al pueblo, diciendo: Así ha dicho Faraón: Yo no os doy paja.
11Id vosotros, y recoged paja donde la hallareis; que nada se disminuirá de vuestra tarea.
12Entonces el pueblo se derramó por toda la tierra de Egipto á coger rastrojo en lugar de paja.
13Y los cuadrilleros los apremiaban, diciendo: Acabad vuestra obra, la tarea del día en su día, como cuando se os daba paja.
14Y azotaban á los capataces de los hijos de Israel, que los cuadrilleros de Faraón habían puesto sobre ellos, diciendo: ¿Por qué no habéis cumplido vuestra tarea de ladrillo ni ayer ni hoy, como antes?
15Y los capataces de los hijos de Israel vinieron á Faraón, y se quejaron á él, diciendo: ¿Por qué lo haces así con tus siervos?
16No se da paja á tus siervos, y con todo nos dicen: Haced el ladrillo. Y he aquí tus siervos son azotados, y tu pueblo cae en falta.
17Y él respondió: Estáis ociosos, sí, ociosos, y por eso decís: Vamos y sacrifiquemos á Jehová.
18Id pues ahora, y trabajad. No se os dará paja, y habéis de dar la tarea del ladrillo.
19Entonces los capataces de los hijos de Israel se vieron en aflicción, habiéndoseles dicho: No se disminuirá nada de vuestro ladrillo, de la tarea de cada día.
20Y encontrando á Moisés y á Aarón, que estaban á la vista de ellos cuando salían de Faraón,
21Dijéronles: Mire Jehová sobre vosotros, y juzgue; pues habéis hecho heder nuestro olor delante de Faraón y de sus siervos, dándoles el cuchillo en las manos para que nos maten.
22Entonces Moisés se volvió á Jehová, y dijo: Señor, ¿por qué afliges á este pueblo? ¿para qué me enviaste?
23Porque desde que yo vine á Faraón para hablarle en tu nombre, ha afligido á este pueblo; y tú tampoco has librado á tu pueblo.

1And afterward Moses and Aaron went in, and told Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness.
2And Pharaoh said, Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go.
3And they said, The God of the Hebrews hath met with us: let us go, we pray thee, three days’ journey into the desert, and sacrifice unto the LORD our God; lest he fall upon us with pestilence, or with the sword.
4And the king of Egypt said unto them, Wherefore do ye, Moses and Aaron, let the people from their works? get you unto your burdens.
5And Pharaoh said, Behold, the people of the land now are many, and ye make them rest from their burdens.
6And Pharaoh commanded the same day the taskmasters of the people, and their officers, saying,
7Ye shall no more give the people straw to make brick, as heretofore: let them go and gather straw for themselves.
8And the tale of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, ye shall lay upon them; ye shall not diminish ought thereof: for they be idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our God.
9Let there more work be laid upon the men, that they may labour therein; and let them not regard vain words.
10And the taskmasters of the people went out, and their officers, and they spake to the people, saying, Thus saith Pharaoh, I will not give you straw.
11Go ye, get you straw where ye can find it: yet not ought of your work shall be diminished.
12So the people were scattered abroad throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble instead of straw.
13And the taskmasters hasted them, saying, Fulfil your works, your daily tasks, as when there was straw.
14And the officers of the children of Israel, which Pharaoh’s taskmasters had set over them, were beaten, and demanded, Wherefore have ye not fulfilled your task in making brick both yesterday and to day, as heretofore?
15Then the officers of the children of Israel came and cried unto Pharaoh, saying, Wherefore dealest thou thus with thy servants?
16There is no straw given unto thy servants, and they say to us, Make brick: and, behold, thy servants are beaten; but the fault is in thine own people.
17But he said, Ye are idle, ye are idle: therefore ye say, Let us go and do sacrifice to the LORD.
18Go therefore now, and work; for there shall no straw be given you, yet shall ye deliver the tale of bricks.
19And the officers of the children of Israel did see that they were in evil case, after it was said, Ye shall not minish ought from your bricks of your daily task.
20And they met Moses and Aaron, who stood in the way, as they came forth from Pharaoh:
21And they said unto them, The LORD look upon you, and judge; because ye have made our savour to be abhorred in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to slay us.
22And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, Lord, wherefore hast thou so evil entreated this people? why is it that thou hast sent me?
23For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in thy name, he hath done evil to this people; neither hast thou delivered thy people at all.

1Afterward Moses and Aaron came, and said to Pharaoh, “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says, ‘Let my people go, that they may hold a feast to me in the wilderness.’”
2Pharaoh said, “Who is the LORD, that I should listen to his voice to let Israel go? I don’t know the LORD, and moreover I will not let Israel go.”
3They said, “The God of the Hebrews has met with us. Please let us go three days’ journey into the wilderness, and sacrifice to the LORD, our God, lest he fall on us with pestilence, or with the sword.”
4The king of Egypt said to them, “Why do you, Moses and Aaron, take the people from their work? Get back to your burdens!”
5Pharaoh said, “Behold, the people of the land are now many, and you make them rest from their burdens.”
6The same day Pharaoh commanded the taskmasters of the people and their officers, saying,
7“You shall no longer give the people straw to make brick, as before. Let them go and gather straw for themselves.
8You shall require from them the number of the bricks which they made before. You shall not diminish anything of it, for they are idle. Therefore they cry, saying, ‘Let’s go and sacrifice to our God.’
9Let heavier work be laid on the men, that they may labor in it. Don’t let them pay any attention to lying words.”
10The taskmasters of the people went out with their officers, and they spoke to the people, saying, “This is what Pharaoh says: ‘I will not give you straw.
11Go yourselves, get straw where you can find it, for nothing of your work shall be diminished.’”
12So the people were scattered abroad throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble for straw.
13The taskmasters were urgent saying, “Fulfill your work quota daily, as when there was straw!”
14The officers of the children of Israel, whom Pharaoh’s taskmasters had set over them, were beaten, and were asked, “Why haven’t you fulfilled your quota both yesterday and today, in making brick as before?”
15Then the officers of the children of Israel came and cried to Pharaoh, saying, “Why do you deal this way with your servants?
16No straw is given to your servants, and they tell us, ‘Make brick!’ and behold, your servants are beaten; but the fault is in your own people.”
17But Pharaoh said, “You are idle! You are idle! Therefore you say, ‘Let’s go and sacrifice to the LORD.’
18Go therefore now, and work; for no straw shall be given to you; yet you shall deliver the same number of bricks!”
19The officers of the children of Israel saw that they were in trouble when it was said, “You shall not diminish anything from your daily quota of bricks!”
20They met Moses and Aaron, who stood along the way, as they came out from Pharaoh.
21They said to them, “May the LORD look at you and judge, because you have made us a stench to be abhorred in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to kill us!”
22Moses returned to the LORD, and said, “Lord, why have you brought trouble on this people? Why is it that you have sent me?
23For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in your name, he has brought trouble on this people. You have not rescued your people at all!”
