1LA parola del Signore mi fu ancora indirizzata, dicendo:
2Figliuol d'uomo, che cosa è il legno della vite, più che qualunque altro legno? che cosa è ciò ch'è stato tralcio, fra gli alberi della selva?
3Può egli prendersene alcun legno da farne qualche lavorio? può egli pur prendersene un cavigliuolo, da appiccarvi su qualunque arnese?
4Ecco, dopo che sarà stato posto nel fuoco, per esser consumato, e che il fuoco ne avrà consumati i due capi, e che il mezzo ne sarà inarsicciato, varrà egli più nulla da farne alcun lavorio?
5Ecco, mentre è intiero, non se ne può fare alcun lavorio; quanto meno potrassene più fare alcun lavorio, dopo che il fuoco l'avrà consumato, e ch'egli sarà inarsicciato?
6Perciò, così ha detto il Signore Iddio: Quale è, fra le legne del bosco, il legno della vite, il quale io ho ordinato per pastura del fuoco, tali renderò gli abitanti di Gerusalemme.
7E volgerò la mia faccia contro a loro; quando saranno usciti d'un fuoco, un altro fuoco li consumerà; e voi conoscerete che io sono il Signore, quando avrò volta la mia faccia contro a loro.
8E renderò il paese desolato; perciocchè hanno commesso misfatto; dice il Signore Iddio.

1Y FUÉ á mí palabra de Jehová, diciendo:
2Hijo del hombre, ¿qué es el palo de la vid más que todo palo? ¿qué es el sarmiento entre los maderos del bosque?
3¿Tomarán de él madera para hacer alguna obra? ¿tomarán de él una estaca para colgar de ella algún vaso?
4He aquí, que es puesto en el fuego para ser consumido; sus dos cabos consumió el fuego, y la parte del medio se quemó; ¿aprovechará para obra alguna?
5He aquí que cuando estaba entero no era para obra alguna: ¿cuánto menos después que el fuego lo hubiere consumido, y fuere quemado? ¿será más para alguna obra?
6Por tanto, así ha dicho el Señor Jehová: Como el palo de la vid entre los maderos del bosque, el cual dí al fuego para que lo consuma, así haré á los moradores de Jerusalem.
7Y pondré mi rostro contra ellos; de fuego salieron, y fuego los consumirá; y sabréis que yo soy Jehová, cuando pusiere mi rostro contra ellos.
8Y tornaré la tierra en asolamiento, por cuanto cometieron prevaricación, dice el Señor Jehová.

1And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
2Son of man, What is the vine tree more than any tree, or than a branch which is among the trees of the forest?
3Shall wood be taken thereof to do any work? or will men take a pin of it to hang any vessel thereon?
4Behold, it is cast into the fire for fuel; the fire devoureth both the ends of it, and the midst of it is burned. Is it meet for any work?
5Behold, when it was whole, it was meet for no work: how much less shall it be meet yet for any work, when the fire hath devoured it, and it is burned?
6Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; As the vine tree among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so will I give the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
7And I will set my face against them; they shall go out from one fire, and another fire shall devour them; and ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I set my face against them.
8And I will make the land desolate, because they have committed a trespass, saith the Lord GOD.
World English Bible
1The LORD’s word came to me, saying,
2“Son of man, what is the vine tree more than any tree, the vine branch which is among the trees of the forest?
3Will wood be taken of it to make anything? Will men take a pin of it to hang any vessel on it?
4Behold, it is cast into the fire for fuel; the fire has devoured both its ends, and the middle of it is burned. Is it profitable for any work?
5Behold, when it was whole, it was suitable for no work. How much less, when the fire has devoured it, and it has been burned, will it yet be suitable for any work?”
6Therefore the Lord GOD says: “As the vine wood among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so I will give the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
7I will set my face against them. They will go out from the fire, but the fire will still devour them. Then you will know that I am the LORD, when I set my face against them.
8I will make the land desolate, because they have acted unfaithfully,” says the Lord GOD.
