1Y vino a mí la palabra del Señor, diciendo:
2Hijo de hombre, emite una adivinanza, di una parábola para los hijos de Israel.
3Y dirás: Esto es lo que ha dicho el Señor: Una gran águila con grandes alas, llena de largas plumas de diferentes colores, llegó al Líbano y tomó la parte superior del cedro.
4Cogiendo él más alto de los brotes, lo llevó a la tierra de Canaán y lo puso en un pueblo de comerciantes.
5Y tomó parte de la semilla de la tierra, plantándola en tierra fértil, colocándola junto a aguas abundantes y creció como un sauce.
6Y su crecimiento continuó y se convirtió en una vid, baja y extensamente extendida, cuyas ramas se volvieron hacia él y sus raíces estaban debajo de él: así se convirtió en una enredadera, que sacaba ramas y nuevos brotes.
7Y había otra águila con grandes alas y muchas plumas: y ahora esta enredadera, empujando sus raíces hacia él, envió sus ramas en su dirección desde los surcos donde estaba plantada, para que pudiera ser regada.
8La plantó en un buen campo junto a aguas abundantes para que pudiera sacar ramas, tener fruto y ser una vid magnífica.
9Di: Esto es lo que el Señor ha dicho: ¿Le irá bien? ¿no tendrá sus raíces arrancadas y sus ramas cortadas, para que todas sus hojas nuevas se sequen y puedan ser arrancadas por sus raíces?
10Y si se planta, ¿lo hará bien? ¿No se secará del todo al tacto del viento del este, ni hará falta mucha gente para sacarla de su raíz; secándose en la tierra donde se plantó?
11Entonces vino a mí la palabra del Señor, diciendo:
12Di ahora a esta gente incontrolada: ¿No son claras estas cosas? Diles: Mira, el rey de Babilonia vino a Jerusalén y se llevó a su rey y sus gobernantes con él a Babilonia;
13Tomó a uno de los hijos del rey y se puso de acuerdo con él. Lo puso bajo juramento y se llevó a los grandes hombres de la tierra.
14Para que el reino pueda ser abatido, sin poder levantarse, pero guardando su pacto, mantenerse firmes.
15Pero él fue en contra de su autoridad al enviar representantes a Egipto para obtener de ellos caballos y un gran ejército. ¿Tendrá éxito? ¿Estará seguro quien hace tales cosas? Si el acuerdo se rompe, ¿estará seguro?
16Por mi vida, dice el Señor, verdaderamente en la tierra del rey que lo hizo rey, cuyo juramento puso de lado y dejó que se rompiera su acuerdo con él, incluso en Babilonia llegará a su muerte.
17Y el Faraón, con su ejército fuerte y sus grandes fuerzas, no lo ayudarán en la guerra, cuando levanten rampas y hagan muros fuertes para cortar muchas vidas.
18Porque despreció su juramento al romper el pacto; y aunque le había dado la mano, hizo todas estas cosas; Él no se escapará a salvo.
19Entonces el Señor dijo: Por mi vida, en verdad, por mi juramento que hizo a un lado, y mi acuerdo que se rompió, enviaré un castigo sobre su cabeza.
20Mi red se extenderá sobre él, y él será llevado por mis cuerdas, y lo enviaré a Babilonia, y allí seré su juez por el mal que ha hecho en mi contra.
21Todos sus mejores hombres de combate serán juzgados, y el resto serán esparcidos por los cuatro vientos; y sabrán que yo, el Señor, lo he dicho.
22Esto es lo que el Señor ha dicho: Además, tomaré la punta más alta del cedro y la pondré en la tierra; cortando el más alto de sus retoños, la plantaré en una montaña alta y sublime.
23Se plantará en la montaña alta de Israel; sacará ramas y tendrá frutos y será un cedro justo; debajo de él, todas las aves de todo tipo harán su lugar de vida, descansando a la sombra de sus ramas.
24Y será claro para todos los árboles del campo que yo, el Señor, he humillado al árbol alto y elevado al árbol bajo, secando el árbol verde y haciendo que el árbol seco se llene de crecimiento; Yo, el Señor, lo he dicho y lo he hecho.

1Y FUÉ á mí palabra de Jehová, diciendo:
2Hijo del hombre, propón una figura, y compón una parábola á la casa de Israel.
3Y dirás: Así ha dicho el Señor Jehová: Una grande águila, de grandes alas y de largos miembros, llena de plumas de diversos colores, vino al Líbano, y tomó el cogollo del cedro:
4Arrancó el principal de sus renuevos, y llevólo á la tierra de mercaderes, y púsolo en la ciudad de los negociantes.
5Tomó también de la simiente de la tierra, y púsola en un campo bueno para sembrar, plantóla junto á grandes aguas, púsola como un sauce.
6Y brotó, é hízose una vid de mucha rama, baja de estatura, que sus ramas la miraban, y sus raíces estaban debajo de ella: así que se hizo una vid, y arrojó sarmientos, y echó mugrones.
7Y fué otra grande águila, de grandes alas y de muchas plumas; y he aquí que esta vid juntó cerca de ella sus raíces, y extendió hacia ella sus ramos, para ser regada por ella por los surcos de su plantío.
8En un buen campo, junto á muchas aguas fué plantada, para que hiciese ramos y llevase fruto, y para que fuese vid robusta.
9Di: Así ha dicho el Señor Jehová: ¿Será prosperada? ¿No arrancará sus raíces, y destruirá su fruto, y secaráse? Todas las hojas de su lozanía secará, y no con gran brazo, ni con mucha gente, arrancándola de sus raíces.
10Y he aquí que plantada está ella, ¿será prosperada? ¿No se secará del todo cuando el viento solano la tocare? En los surcos de su verdor se secará.
11Y fué á mí palabra de Jehová, diciendo:
12Di ahora á la casa rebelde: ¿No habéis entendido qué significan estas cosas? Diles: He aquí que el rey de Babilonia vino á Jerusalem, y tomó tu rey y sus príncipes, y llevólos consigo á Babilonia.
13Tomó también de la simiente del reino, é hizo con él alianza, y trájole á juramento; y tomó los fuertes de la tierra,
14Para que el reino fuese abatido y no se levantase, sino que guardase su alianza y estuviese en ella.
15Rebelóse empero contra él enviando sus embajadores á Egipto, para que le diese caballos y mucha gente. ¿Será prosperado, escapará, el que estas cosas hizo? ¿y el que rompió la alianza, podrá huir?
16Vivo yo, dice el Señor Jehová, que morirá en medio de Babilonia, en el lugar del rey que le hizo reinar, cuyo juramento menospreció, y cuya alianza con él hecha rompió.
17Y no con grande ejército, ni con mucha compañía hará con él Faraón en la batalla, cuando funden baluarte y edifiquen bastiones para cortar muchas vidas.
18Pues menospreció el juramento, para invalidar el concierto cuando he aquí que había dado su mano, é hizo todas estas cosas, no escapará.
19Por tanto, así ha dicho el Señor Jehová: Vivo yo, que el juramento mío que menospreció, y mi concierto que ha invalidado, tornaré sobre su cabeza.
20Y extenderé sobre él mi red, y será preso en mi malla; y hacerlo he venir á Babilonia, y allí estaré á juicio con él, por su prevaricación con que contra mí se ha rebelado.
21Y todos sus fugitivos con todos sus escuadrones caerán á cuchillo, y los que quedaren serán esparcidos á todo viento; y sabréis que yo Jehová he hablado.
22Así ha dicho el Señor Jehová: Y tomaré yo del cogollo de aquel alto cedro, y pondrélo; del principal de sus renuevos cortaré un tallo, y plantarlo he yo sobre el monte alto y sublime;
23En el monte alto de Israel lo plantaré, y alzará ramos, y llevará fruto, y haráse magnífico cedro; y habitarán debajo de él todas las aves, toda cosa que vuela habitará á la sombra de sus ramos.
24Y sabrán todos los árboles del campo que yo Jehová abatí el árbol sublime, levanté el árbol bajo, hice secar el árbol verde, é hice reverdecer el árbol seco. Yo Jehová hablé é hice.

1And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
2Son of man, put forth a riddle, and speak a parable unto the house of Israel;
3And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; A great eagle with great wings, longwinged, full of feathers, which had divers colours, came unto Lebanon, and took the highest branch of the cedar:
4He cropped off the top of his young twigs, and carried it into a land of traffick; he set it in a city of merchants.
5He took also of the seed of the land, and planted it in a fruitful field; he placed it by great waters, and set it as a willow tree.
6And it grew, and became a spreading vine of low stature, whose branches turned toward him, and the roots thereof were under him: so it became a vine, and brought forth branches, and shot forth sprigs.
7There was also another great eagle with great wings and many feathers: and, behold, this vine did bend her roots toward him, and shot forth her branches toward him, that he might water it by the furrows of her plantation.
8It was planted in a good soil by great waters, that it might bring forth branches, and that it might bear fruit, that it might be a goodly vine.
9Say thou, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Shall it prosper? shall he not pull up the roots thereof, and cut off the fruit thereof, that it wither? it shall wither in all the leaves of her spring, even without great power or many people to pluck it up by the roots thereof.
10Yea, behold, being planted, shall it prosper? shall it not utterly wither, when the east wind toucheth it? it shall wither in the furrows where it grew.
11Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
12Say now to the rebellious house, Know ye not what these things mean? tell them, Behold, the king of Babylon is come to Jerusalem, and hath taken the king thereof, and the princes thereof, and led them with him to Babylon;
13And hath taken of the king’s seed, and made a covenant with him, and hath taken an oath of him: he hath also taken the mighty of the land:
14That the kingdom might be base, that it might not lift itself up, but that by keeping of his covenant it might stand.
15But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and much people. Shall he prosper? shall he escape that doeth such things? or shall he break the covenant, and be delivered?
16As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely in the place where the king dwelleth that made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he brake, even with him in the midst of Babylon he shall die.
17Neither shall Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company make for him in the war, by casting up mounts, and building forts, to cut off many persons:
18Seeing he despised the oath by breaking the covenant, when, lo, he had given his hand, and hath done all these things, he shall not escape.
19Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; As I live, surely mine oath that he hath despised, and my covenant that he hath broken, even it will I recompense upon his own head.
20And I will spread my net upon him, and he shall be taken in my snare, and I will bring him to Babylon, and will plead with him there for his trespass that he hath trespassed against me.
21And all his fugitives with all his bands shall fall by the sword, and they that remain shall be scattered toward all winds: and ye shall know that I the LORD have spoken it.
22Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also take of the highest branch of the high cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the top of his young twigs a tender one, and will plant it upon an high mountain and eminent:
23In the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it: and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing; in the shadow of the branches thereof shall they dwell.
24And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the LORD have spoken and have done it.

1The LORD’s word came to me, saying,
2“Son of man, tell a riddle, and speak a parable to the house of Israel;
3and say, ‘The Lord GOD says: “A great eagle with great wings and long feathers, full of feathers which had various colors, came to Lebanon and took the top of the cedar.
4He cropped off the topmost of its young twigs, and carried it to a land of traffic. He planted it in a city of merchants.
5“‘“He also took some of the seed of the land and planted it in fruitful soil. He placed it beside many waters. He set it as a willow tree.
6It grew and became a spreading vine of low stature, whose branches turned toward him, and its roots were under him. So it became a vine, produced branches, and shot out sprigs.
7“‘“There was also another great eagle with great wings and many feathers. Behold, this vine bent its roots toward him, and shot out its branches toward him, from the ground where it was planted, that he might water it.
8It was planted in a good soil by many waters, that it might produce branches and that it might bear fruit, that it might be a good vine.”’
9“Say, ‘The Lord GOD says: “Will it prosper? Won’t he pull up its roots and cut off its fruit, that it may wither, that all its fresh springing leaves may wither? It can’t be raised from its roots by a strong arm or many people.
10Yes, behold, being planted, will it prosper? Won’t it utterly wither when the east wind touches it? It will wither in the ground where it grew.”’”
11Moreover the LORD’s word came to me, saying,
12“Say now to the rebellious house, ‘Don’t you know what these things mean?’ Tell them, ‘Behold, the king of Babylon came to Jerusalem, and took its king, and its princes, and brought them to him to Babylon.
13He took one of the royal offspring, and made a covenant with him. He also brought him under an oath, and took away the mighty of the land,
14that the kingdom might be brought low, that it might not lift itself up, but that by keeping his covenant it might stand.
15But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and many people. Will he prosper? Will he who does such things escape? Will he break the covenant, and still escape?
16“‘As I live,’ says the Lord GOD, ‘surely in the place where the king dwells who made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he broke, even with him in the middle of Babylon he will die.
17Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company won’t help him in the war, when they cast up mounds and build forts to cut off many persons.
18For he has despised the oath by breaking the covenant; and behold, he had given his hand, and yet has done all these things. He won’t escape.
19“Therefore the Lord GOD says: ‘As I live, I will surely bring on his own head my oath that he has despised and my covenant that he has broken.
20I will spread my net on him, and he will be taken in my snare. I will bring him to Babylon, and will enter into judgment with him there for his trespass that he has trespassed against me.
21All his fugitives in all his bands will fall by the sword, and those who remain will be scattered toward every wind. Then you will know that I, the LORD, have spoken it.’
22“The Lord GOD says: ‘I will also take some of the lofty top of the cedar, and will plant it. I will crop off from the topmost of its young twigs a tender one, and I will plant it on a high and lofty mountain.
23I will plant it in the mountain of the height of Israel; and it will produce boughs, and bear fruit, and be a good cedar. Birds of every kind will dwell in the shade of its branches.
24All the trees of the field will know that I, the LORD, have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree flourish. “‘I, the LORD, have spoken and have done it.’”
