1Et toi, prononce une complainte sur les princes d’Israël,
2et dis: Ta mère, qu’était-ce? Une lionne. Elle était couchée parmi les lions; C’est au milieu des lionceaux Qu’elle a élevé ses petits.
3Elle éleva l’un de ses petits, Qui devint un jeune lion, Et qui apprit à déchirer sa proie; Il dévora des hommes.
4Les nations entendirent parler de lui, Et il fut pris dans leur fosse; Elles mirent une boucle à ses narines et l’emmenèrent Dans le pays d’Égypte.
5Quand la lionne vit qu’elle attendait en vain, Qu’elle était trompée dans son espérance, Elle prit un autre de ses petits, Et en fit un jeune lion.
6Il marcha parmi les lions, Il devint un jeune lion, Et il apprit à déchirer sa proie; Il dévora des hommes.
7Il força leurs palais, Et détruisit leurs villes; Le pays, tout ce qui s’y trouvait, fut ravagé, Au bruit de ses rugissements.
8Contre lui se rangèrent les nations D’alentour, des provinces; Elles tendirent sur lui leur rets, Et il fut pris dans leur fosse.
9Elles mirent une boucle à ses narines, le placèrent dans une cage, Et l’emmenèrent auprès du roi de Babylone; Puis elles le conduisirent dans une forteresse, Afin qu’on n’entende plus sa voix sur les montagnes d’Israël.
10Ta mère était, comme toi, semblable à une vigne, Plantée près des eaux. Elle était féconde et chargée de branches, A cause de l’abondance des eaux.
11Elle avait de vigoureux rameaux pour des sceptres de souverains; Par son élévation elle dominait les branches touffues; Elle attirait les regards par sa hauteur, Et par la multitude de ses rameaux.
12Mais elle a été arrachée avec fureur et jetée par terre; Le vent d’orient a desséché son fruit; Ses rameaux vigoureux ont été rompus et desséchés; Le feu les a dévorés.
13Et maintenant elle est plantée dans le désert, Dans une terre sèche et aride.
14Le feu est sorti de ses branches, Et a dévoré son fruit; Elle n’a plus de rameau vigoureux Pour un sceptre de souverain. C’est là une complainte, et cela servira de complainte.

2Y dirás: ¡Cómo se echó entre los leones tu madre la leona! entre los leoncillos crió sus cachorros.
3E hizo subir uno de sus cachorros: vino á ser leoncillo, y aprendió á prender presa, y á devorar hombres.
4Y las gentes oyeron de él: fué tomado con el lazo de ellas, y lleváronlo con grillos á la tierra de Egipto.
5Y viendo ella que había esperado mucho tiempo, y que se perdía su esperanza, tomó otro de sus cachorros, y púsolo por leoncillo.
6Y él andaba entre los leones; hízose leoncillo, aprendió á hacer presa, devoró hombres.
7Y conoció sus viudas, y asoló sus ciudades; y la tierra fué asolada, y su abundancia, á la voz de su bramido.
8Y dieron sobre él las gentes de las provincias de alrededor, y extendieron sobre él su red; fué preso en su hoyo.
9Y pusiéronlo en cárcel con cadenas, y lleváronlo al rey de Babilonia; metiéronlo en fortalezas, para que su voz no se oyese más sobre los montes de Israel.
10Tu madre fué como una vid en tu sangre, plantada junto á las aguas, haciendo fruto y echando vástagos á causa de las muchas aguas.
11Y ella tuvo varas fuertes para cetros de señores; y levantóse su estatura por encima entre las ramas, y fué vista en su altura, y con la multitud de sus sarmientos.
12Empero fué arrancada con ira, derribada en tierra, y viento solano secó su fruto; fueron quebradas y secáronse sus varas fuertes; consumiólas el fuego.
13Y ahora está plantada en el desierto, en tierra de sequedad y de aridez.
14Y ha salido fuego de la vara de sus ramos, ha consumido su fruto, y no ha quedado en ella vara fuerte, cetro para enseñorear. Endecha es esta, y de endecha servirá.

1Moreover take thou up a lamentation for the princes of Israel,
2And say, What is thy mother? A lioness: she lay down among lions, she nourished her whelps among young lions.
3And she brought up one of her whelps: it became a young lion, and it learned to catch the prey; it devoured men.
4The nations also heard of him; he was taken in their pit, and they brought him with chains unto the land of Egypt.
5Now when she saw that she had waited, and her hope was lost, then she took another of her whelps, and made him a young lion.
6And he went up and down among the lions, he became a young lion, and learned to catch the prey, and devoured men.
7And he knew their desolate palaces, and he laid waste their cities; and the land was desolate, and the fulness thereof, by the noise of his roaring.
8Then the nations set against him on every side from the provinces, and spread their net over him: he was taken in their pit.
9And they put him in ward in chains, and brought him to the king of Babylon: they brought him into holds, that his voice should no more be heard upon the mountains of Israel.
10Thy mother is like a vine in thy blood, planted by the waters: she was fruitful and full of branches by reason of many waters.
11And she had strong rods for the sceptres of them that bare rule, and her stature was exalted among the thick branches, and she appeared in her height with the multitude of her branches.
12But she was plucked up in fury, she was cast down to the ground, and the east wind dried up her fruit: her strong rods were broken and withered; the fire consumed them.
13And now she is planted in the wilderness, in a dry and thirsty ground.
14And fire is gone out of a rod of her branches, which hath devoured her fruit, so that she hath no strong rod to be a sceptre to rule. This is a lamentation, and shall be for a lamentation.

3She brought up one of her cubs. He became a young lion. He learned to catch the prey. He devoured men.
4The nations also heard of him. He was taken in their pit; and they brought him with hooks to the land of Egypt.
5“‘Now when she saw that she had waited, and her hope was lost, then she took another of her cubs, and made him a young lion.
6He went up and down among the lions. He became a young lion. He learned to catch the prey. He devoured men.
7He knew their palaces, and laid waste their cities. The land was desolate with its fullness, because of the noise of his roaring.
8Then the nations attacked him on every side from the provinces. They spread their net over him. He was taken in their pit.
9They put him in a cage with hooks, and brought him to the king of Babylon. They brought him into strongholds, so that his voice should no more be heard on the mountains of Israel.

11It had strong branches for the scepters of those who ruled. Their stature was exalted among the thick boughs. They were seen in their height with the multitude of their branches.
12But it was plucked up in fury. It was cast down to the ground, and the east wind dried up its fruit. Its strong branches were broken off and withered. The fire consumed them.
13Now it is planted in the wilderness, in a dry and thirsty land.
14Fire has gone out of its branches. It has devoured its fruit, so that there is in it no strong branch to be a scepter to rule.’ This is a lamentation, and shall be for a lamentation.”
