Esdras 10

Et comme Esdras priait, et faisait cette confession, pleurant, et étant prosterné en terre devant la maison de Dieu, une fort grande multitude d’hommes, et de femmes, et d’enfants de ceux d’Israël, s’assembla vers lui ; et le peuple pleura abondamment.

Y ORANDO Esdras y confesando, llorando y postrándose delante de la casa de Dios, juntóse á él una muy grande multitud de Israel, hombres y mujeres y niños; y lloraba el pueblo con gran llanto.

Now when Ezra had prayed, and when he had confessed, weeping and casting himself down before the house of God, there assembled unto him out of Israel a very great congregation of men and women and children: for the people wept very sore.

Alors Sécania fils de Jéhiël, d’entre les enfants de Hélam, prit la parole, et dit à Esdras : Nous avons péché contre notre Dieu, en ce que nous avons pris des femmes étrangères d’entre les peuples de ce pays ; mais maintenant il y a espérance pour Israël en ceci.

Entonces respondió Sechânías hijo de Jehiel, de los hijos de Elam, y dijo á Esdras: Nosotros hemos prevaricado contra nuestro Dios, pues tomamos mujeres extranjeras de los pueblos de la tierra: mas hay aún esperanza para Israel sobre esto.

And Shechaniah the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, answered and said unto Ezra, We have trespassed against our God, and have taken strange wives of the people of the land: yet now there is hope in Israel concerning this thing.

C’est pourquoi traitons maintenant cette alliance avec notre Dieu, que nous ferons sortir toutes les femmes, et tout ce qui est né d’elles, selon le conseil du Seigneur, et de ceux qui tremblent au commandement de notre Dieu ; et qu’il en soit fait selon la Loi.

Ahora pues hagamos pacto con nuestro Dios, que echaremos todas las mujeres y los nacidos de ellas, según el consejo del Señor, y de los que temen el mandamiento de nuestro Dios: y hágase conforme á la ley.

Alors Esdras se leva, et fit jurer les principaux des Sacrificateurs, des Lévites, et de tout Israël, qu’ils feraient selon cette parole ; et ils jurèrent.

Entonces se levantó Esdras, y juramentó á los príncipes de los sacerdotes y de los Levitas, y á todo Israel, que harían conforme á esto; y ellos juraron.

Then arose Ezra, and made the chief priests, the Levites, and all Israel, to swear that they should do according to this word. And they sware.

Puis Esdras se leva de devant la maison de Dieu, et s’en alla dans la chambre de Johanan fils d’Eliasib, et y entra ; et il ne mangea point de pain, ni ne but point d’eau, parce qu’il menait deuil à cause du péché de ceux de la captivité.

Levantóse luego Esdras de delante la casa de Dios, y fuése á la cámara de Johanán hijo de Eliasib: é ido allá, no comió pan ni bebió agua, porque se entristeció sobre la prevaricación de los de la transmigración.

Then Ezra rose up from before the house of God, and went into the chamber of Johanan the son of Eliashib: and when he came thither, he did eat no bread, nor drink water: for he mourned because of the transgression of them that had been carried away.

And that whosoever would not come within three days, according to the counsel of the princes and the elders, all his substance should be forfeited, and himself separated from the congregation of those that had been carried away.

Ainsi tous ceux de Juda et de Benjamin s’assemblèrent à Jérusalem dans les trois jours, ce qui fut au neuvième mois le vingtième jour du mois ; et tout le peuple se tint devant la place de la maison de Dieu, tremblant pour ce sujet, et à cause des pluies.

Puis Esdras le Sacrificateur se leva, et leur dit : Vous avez péché en ce que vous avez pris chez vous des femmes étrangères, de sorte que vous avez augmenté le crime d’Israël.

Et toute l’assemblée répondit, et dit à haute voix : C’est notre devoir de faire ce que tu as dit ;

Then all the congregation answered and said with a loud voice, As thou hast said, so must we do.

Mais le peuple est grand, et ce temps est fort pluvieux, c’est pourquoi il n’y a pas moyen de demeurer dehors, et cette affaire n’est pas d’un jour, ni de deux ; car nous sommes beaucoup de gens qui avons péché en cela.

Mas el pueblo es mucho, y el tiempo lluvioso, y no hay fuerza para estar en la calle: ni la obra es de un día ni de dos, porque somos muchos los que hemos prevaricado en este negocio.

But the people are many, and it is a time of much rain, and we are not able to stand without, neither is this a work of one day or two: for we are many that have transgressed in this thing.

Que tous les principaux d’entre nous comparaissent donc devant toute l’assemblée, et que tous ceux qui sont dans nos villes, et qui ont pris chez eux des femmes étrangères, viennent en certain temps, et que les Anciens de chaque ville et ses juges soient avec eux ; jusqu’à ce que nous détournions de nous l’ardeur de la colère de notre Dieu, et que ceci soit achevé.

Estén ahora nuestros príncipes, los de toda la congregación; y todos aquellos que en nuestras ciudades hubieren tomado mujeres extranjeras, vengan á tiempos aplazados, y con ellos los ancianos de cada ciudad, y los jueces de ellas, hasta que apartemos de nosotros el furor de la ira de nuestro Dios sobre esto.

Let now our rulers of all the congregation stand, and let all them which have taken strange wives in our cities come at appointed times, and with them the elders of every city, and the judges thereof, until the fierce wrath of our God for this matter be turned from us.

Now let our princes be appointed for all the assembly, and let all those who are in our cities who have married foreign women come at appointed times, and with them the elders of every city and its judges, until the fierce wrath of our God is turned from us, until this matter is resolved.”

Et Jonathan fils d’Hazaël, et Jahzéja fils de Tikva furent établis pour cette affaire ; et Mésullam et Sabéthaï, Lévites, les aidèrent.

Fueron pues puestos sobre este negocio Jonathán hijo de Asael, y Jaazías hijo de Tikvah; y Mesullam y Sabethai, Levitas, les ayudaron.

Only Jonathan the son of Asahel and Jahaziah the son of Tikvah were employed about this matter: and Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite helped them.

Et ceux qui étaient retournés de la captivité en firent de même, tellement qu’on choisit Esdras le Sacrificateur, et ceux qui étaient les Chefs des pères selon les maisons de leurs pères, tous nommés par leurs noms, qui commencèrent leurs séances le premier jour du dixième mois, pour s’informer du fait.

E hicieron así los hijos de la transmigración. Y apartados que fueron luego Esdras sacerdote, y los varones cabezas de familias en la casa de sus padres, todos ellos por sus nombres, sentáronse el primer día del mes décimo para inquirir el negocio.

And the children of the captivity did so. And Ezra the priest, with certain chief of the fathers, after the house of their fathers, and all of them by their names, were separated, and sat down in the first day of the tenth month to examine the matter.

Y de los hijos de los sacerdotes que habían tomado mujeres extranjeras, fueron hallados estos: De los hijos de Jesuá hijo de Josadec, y de sus hermanos: Maasías, y Eliezer, y Jarib, y Gedalías;

And among the sons of the priests there were found that had taken strange wives: namely, of the sons of Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brethren; Maaseiah, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gedaliah.

Qui donnèrent les mains à renvoyer leurs femmes ; et avouant qu’ils étaient coupables, ils offrirent pour leur délit un bélier du troupeau.
