*Et les ennemis de Juda et de Benjamin entendirent que les fils de la transportation bâtissaient le temple de l’Éternel, le Dieu d’Israël ;

Y OYENDO los enemigos de Judá y de Benjamín, que los venidos de la cautividad edificaban el templo de Jehová Dios de Israel,

Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the children of the captivity builded the temple unto the LORD God of Israel;

Llegáronse á Zorobabel, y á los cabezas de los padres, y dijéronles: Edificaremos con vosotros, porque como vosotros buscaremos á vuestro Dios, y á él sacrificamos desde los días de Esar-haddón rey de Asiria, que nos hizo subir aquí.

Then they came to Zerubbabel, and to the chief of the fathers, and said unto them, Let us build with you: for we seek your God, as ye do; and we do sacrifice unto him since the days of Esar-haddon king of Assur, which brought us up hither.

they came near to Zerubbabel, and to the heads of fathers’ households, and said to them, “Let us build with you, for we seek your God as you do; and we have been sacrificing to him since the days of Esar Haddon king of Assyria, who brought us up here.”

Et Zorobabel, et Jéshua, et le reste des chefs des pères d’Israël, leur dirent : Vous n’avez pas affaire avec nous pour bâtir une maison à notre Dieu, mais nous seuls, nous bâtirons à l’Éternel, le Dieu d’Israël, comme nous l’a commandé le roi Cyrus, roi de Perse.

Y díjoles Zorobabel, y Jesuá, y los demás cabezas de los padres de Israel: No nos conviene edificar con vosotros casa á nuestro Dios, sino que nosotros solos la edificaremos á Jehová Dios de Israel, como nos mandó el rey Ciro, rey de Persia.

But Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the rest of the chief of the fathers of Israel, said unto them, Ye have nothing to do with us to build an house unto our God; but we ourselves together will build unto the LORD God of Israel, as king Cyrus the king of Persia hath commanded us.

And the rest of the nations whom the great and noble Asnappar brought over, and set in the cities of Samaria, and the rest that are on this side the river, and at such a time.

Que le roi sache que les Juifs qui sont montés de chez toi vers nous †et sont venus à Jérusalem, bâtissent la ville rebelle et méchante, et que les murailles s’achèvent, et qu’ils restaurent les fondements.

Sea notorio al rey, que los Judíos que subieron de ti á nosotros, vinieron á Jerusalem; y edifican la ciudad rebelde y mala, y han erigido los muros; y compuesto los fundamentos.

Be it known unto the king, that the Jews which came up from thee to us are come unto Jerusalem, building the rebellious and the bad city, and have set up the walls thereof, and joined the foundations.

Que le roi sache donc que si cette ville est bâtie et que ses murailles s’achèvent, ils ne paieront ni tribut, ni impôt, ni péage, et, plus tard, cela portera préjudice aux rois.

Ahora, notorio sea al rey, que si aquella ciudad fuere reedificada, y los muros fueren establecidos, el tributo, pecho, y rentas no darán, y el catastro de lo reyes será menoscabado.

Be it known now unto the king, that, if this city be builded, and the walls set up again, then will they not pay toll, tribute, and custom, and so thou shalt endamage the revenue of the kings.

Or comme nous mangeons le sel du palais, et qu’il n’était pas convenable pour nous de voir qu’on faisait tort au roi, à cause de cela nous avons envoyé et nous avons informé le roi,

Ya pues que estamos mantenidos de palacio, no nos es justo ver el menosprecio del rey: hemos enviado por tanto, y hécholo saber al rey,

Now because we have maintenance from the king’s palace, and it was not meet for us to see the king’s dishonour, therefore have we sent and certified the king;

Now because we eat the salt of the palace and it is not appropriate for us to see the king’s dishonor, therefore we have sent and informed the king,

afin qu’on cherche dans le livre des annales de tes pères : et tu trouveras dans le livre des annales et tu sauras que cette ville est une ville rebelle, et qu’elle a porté préjudice aux rois et aux provinces, et que, dès les jours anciens, on y a fait des séditions ; c’est pourquoi cette ville a été détruite.

Para que busque en el libro de las historias de nuestros padres; y hallarás en el libro de las historias, y sabrás que esta ciudad es ciudad rebelde, y perjudicial á los reyes y á las provincias, y que de tiempo antiguo forman en medio de ella rebeliones; por lo que esta ciudad fué destruída.

That search may be made in the book of the records of thy fathers: so shalt thou find in the book of the records, and know that this city is a rebellious city, and hurtful unto kings and provinces, and that they have moved sedition within the same of old time: for which cause was this city destroyed.

Nous faisons savoir au roi que si cette ville est rebâtie et que ses murailles s’achèvent, à cause de cela, tu n’auras plus de possession de ce côté du fleuve.

Hacemos saber al rey, que si esta ciudad fuere edificada, y erigidos sus muros, la parte allá del río no será tuya.

We certify the king that, if this city be builded again, and the walls thereof set up, by this means thou shalt have no portion on this side the river.

We inform the king that if this city is built and the walls finished, then you will have no possession beyond the River.

Le roi envoya un rescrit à Rehum, chancelier, et à Shimshaï, secrétaire, et au reste de leurs collègues qui habitaient à Samarie, et dans le reste †du pays de l’autre côté du fleuve : Paix, etc.

El rey envió esta respuesta á Rehum canciller, y á Simsai secretario, y á los demás sus compañeros que habitan en Samaria, y á los demás de la parte allá del río: Paz, etc.

Then sent the king an answer unto Rehum the chancellor, and to Shimshai the scribe, and to the rest of their companions that dwell in Samaria, and unto the rest beyond the river, Peace, and at such a time.

Give ye now commandment to cause these men to cease, and that this city be not builded, until another commandment shall be given from me.

Gardez-vous de manquer à faire cela : pourquoi le dommage augmenterait-il au préjudice des rois ?

Y mirad bien que no hagáis error en esto: ¿por qué habrá de crecer el daño para perjuicio de los reyes?

Take heed now that ye fail not to do this: why should damage grow to the hurt of the kings?

Alors, aussitôt que la copie de la lettre du roi Artaxerxès eut été lue devant Rehum et Shimshaï, le secrétaire, et leurs collègues, ils allèrent en hâte à Jérusalem vers les Juifs, et les firent cesser par force et par puissance.

Entonces, cuando el traslado de la carta del rey Artajerjes fué leído delante de Rehum, y de Simsai secretario, y sus compañeros, fueron prestamente á Jerusalem á los Judíos, é hiciéronles cesar con poder y fuerza.

Now when the copy of king Artaxerxes’ letter was read before Rehum, and Shimshai the scribe, and their companions, they went up in haste to Jerusalem unto the Jews, and made them to cease by force and power.
