Or les ennemis de Juda et de Benjamin ayant entendu que ceux qui étaient retournés de la captivité rebâtissaient le Temple à l’Eternel, le Dieu d’Israël ;

Y OYENDO los enemigos de Judá y de Benjamín, que los venidos de la cautividad edificaban el templo de Jehová Dios de Israel,

Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the children of the captivity builded the temple unto the LORD God of Israel;

Vinrent vers Zorobabel et vers les Chefs des pères, et leur dirent : Permettez que nous bâtissions avec vous ; car nous invoquerons votre Dieu comme vous faites; aussi lui avons-nous sacrifié depuis le temps d’Ezar-haddon Roi d’Assyrie, qui nous a fait monter ici.

Llegáronse á Zorobabel, y á los cabezas de los padres, y dijéronles: Edificaremos con vosotros, porque como vosotros buscaremos á vuestro Dios, y á él sacrificamos desde los días de Esar-haddón rey de Asiria, que nos hizo subir aquí.

Then they came to Zerubbabel, and to the chief of the fathers, and said unto them, Let us build with you: for we seek your God, as ye do; and we do sacrifice unto him since the days of Esar-haddon king of Assur, which brought us up hither.

Mais Zorobabel, et Jésuah, et les autres Chefs des pères d’Israël leur répondirent: Il n’est pas à propos que vous et nous bâtissions la maison à notre Dieu ; mais nous, qui sommes ici ensemble, nous bâtirons à l’Eternel le Dieu d’Israël, ainsi que le Roi Cyrus Roi de Perse nous l’a commandé.

Y díjoles Zorobabel, y Jesuá, y los demás cabezas de los padres de Israel: No nos conviene edificar con vosotros casa á nuestro Dios, sino que nosotros solos la edificaremos á Jehová Dios de Israel, como nos mandó el rey Ciro, rey de Persia.

But Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the rest of the chief of the fathers of Israel, said unto them, Ye have nothing to do with us to build an house unto our God; but we ourselves together will build unto the LORD God of Israel, as king Cyrus the king of Persia hath commanded us.

C’est pourquoi le peuple du pays rendait lâches les mains du peuple de Juda, et les effrayait lorsqu’ils bâtissaient.

Este es el traslado de la carta que enviaron: Al rey Artajerjes: Tus siervos de la otra parte del río, etcétera.

This is the copy of the letter that they sent unto him, even unto Artaxerxes the king; Thy servants the men on this side the river, and at such a time.

Que le Roi soit averti, que les Juifs qui sont montés d’auprès de lui vers nous, sont venus à Jérusalem, et qu’ils bâtissent la ville rebelle et méchante, et posent les fondements des murailles, et les relèvent.

Sea notorio al rey, que los Judíos que subieron de ti á nosotros, vinieron á Jerusalem; y edifican la ciudad rebelde y mala, y han erigido los muros; y compuesto los fundamentos.

Be it known unto the king, that the Jews which came up from thee to us are come unto Jerusalem, building the rebellious and the bad city, and have set up the walls thereof, and joined the foundations.

Que maintenant donc le Roi soit averti, que si cette ville est rebâtie, et ses murailles fondées, ils ne paieront plus de taille, ni de gabelle, ni de péage, et elle causera ainsi une grande perte aux revenus du Roi.

Ahora, notorio sea al rey, que si aquella ciudad fuere reedificada, y los muros fueren establecidos, el tributo, pecho, y rentas no darán, y el catastro de lo reyes será menoscabado.

Be it known now unto the king, that, if this city be builded, and the walls set up again, then will they not pay toll, tribute, and custom, and so thou shalt endamage the revenue of the kings.

Be it known now to the king that if this city is built and the walls finished, they will not pay tribute, custom, or toll, and in the end it will be hurtful to the kings.

Et parce que nous sommes aux gages du Roi, il nous serait mal- séant, de voir ce mépris du Roi ; c’est pourquoi nous avons envoyé au Roi, et nous lui faisons savoir ;

Ya pues que estamos mantenidos de palacio, no nos es justo ver el menosprecio del rey: hemos enviado por tanto, y hécholo saber al rey,

Now because we have maintenance from the king’s palace, and it was not meet for us to see the king’s dishonour, therefore have we sent and certified the king;

Now because we eat the salt of the palace and it is not appropriate for us to see the king’s dishonor, therefore we have sent and informed the king,

Qu’il cherche au Livre des Mémoires de ses pères, et qu’il trouvera écrit dans ce Livre des Mémoires, et y apprendra que cette ville est une ville rebelle, et pernicieuse aux Rois et aux provinces ; et que de tout temps on y a fait des complots, et qu’à cause de cela cette ville a été détruite.

Para que busque en el libro de las historias de nuestros padres; y hallarás en el libro de las historias, y sabrás que esta ciudad es ciudad rebelde, y perjudicial á los reyes y á las provincias, y que de tiempo antiguo forman en medio de ella rebeliones; por lo que esta ciudad fué destruída.

That search may be made in the book of the records of thy fathers: so shalt thou find in the book of the records, and know that this city is a rebellious city, and hurtful unto kings and provinces, and that they have moved sedition within the same of old time: for which cause was this city destroyed.

Nous faisons donc savoir au Roi, que si cette ville est rebâtie, et ses murailles fondées, il n’aura plus de part à ce qui est au deçà du fleuve.

Hacemos saber al rey, que si esta ciudad fuere edificada, y erigidos sus muros, la parte allá del río no será tuya.

We certify the king that, if this city be builded again, and the walls thereof set up, by this means thou shalt have no portion on this side the river.

We inform the king that if this city is built and the walls finished, then you will have no possession beyond the River.

Et c’est ici la réponse que le Roi envoya à Réhum, Président du conseil, et à Simsaï le Secrétaire, et aux autres de leur compagnie qui demeuraient à Samarie, et aux autres de deçà le fleuve. Bien vous soit, et de telle date.

El rey envió esta respuesta á Rehum canciller, y á Simsai secretario, y á los demás sus compañeros que habitan en Samaria, y á los demás de la parte allá del río: Paz, etc.

Then sent the king an answer unto Rehum the chancellor, and to Shimshai the scribe, and to the rest of their companions that dwell in Samaria, and unto the rest beyond the river, Peace, and at such a time.

La teneur des lettres que vous nous avez envoyées, a été exposée et lue devant moi.

Et j’ai donné ordre, et on a cherché et trouvé, que de tout temps cette ville-là s’élève contre les Rois, et qu’on y a fait des rébellions et des complots.

Y por mí fué dado mandamiento, y buscaron, y hallaron que aquella ciudad de tiempo antiguo se levanta contra los reyes, y se rebela, y se forma en ella sedición:

And I commanded, and search hath been made, and it is found that this city of old time hath made insurrection against kings, and that rebellion and sedition have been made therein.

Y que reyes fuertes hubo en Jerusalem, quienes señorearon en todo lo que está á la parte allá del río; y que tributo, y pecho, y rentas se les daba.

Maintenant donc, donnez un ordre pour faire cesser ces gens-là, afin que cette ville ne soit point rebâtie, jusques à ce que je l’ordonne.

Ahora pues dad orden que cesen aquellos hombres, y no sea esa ciudad edificada, hasta que por mí sea dado mandamiento.

Give ye now commandment to cause these men to cease, and that this city be not builded, until another commandment shall be given from me.

Et gardez-vous de manquer en ceci ; car pourquoi croîtrait le dommage au préjudice des Rois ?

Y mirad bien que no hagáis error en esto: ¿por qué habrá de crecer el daño para perjuicio de los reyes?

Take heed now that ye fail not to do this: why should damage grow to the hurt of the kings?

Be careful that you not be slack doing so. Why should damage grow to the hurt of the kings?

Or quand la teneur des patentes du Roi Artaxerxes eut été lue en la présence de Réhum, et de Simsaï le Secrétaire, et de ceux de leur compagnie, ils s’en allèrent en diligence à Jérusalem vers les Juifs, et les firent cesser avec main forte.

Entonces, cuando el traslado de la carta del rey Artajerjes fué leído delante de Rehum, y de Simsai secretario, y sus compañeros, fueron prestamente á Jerusalem á los Judíos, é hiciéronles cesar con poder y fuerza.

Now when the copy of king Artaxerxes’ letter was read before Rehum, and Shimshai the scribe, and their companions, they went up in haste to Jerusalem unto the Jews, and made them to cease by force and power.

Then ceased the work of the house of God which is at Jerusalem. So it ceased unto the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia.
