Gálatas 2

Catorce años después, subí de nuevo a Jerusalén con Bernabé, y llevé también a Tito conmigo.

DESPUÉS, pasados catorce años, fuí otra vez á Jerusalem juntamente con Bernabé, tomando también conmigo á Tito.

Then fourteen years after I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and took Titus with me also.

Then after a period of fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus also with me.

Fui porque Dios me lo reveló, y en una reunión privada con los líderes más respetados, les expliqué el evangelio que predico entre los que no son judíos, para asegurarme de que mi trabajo, tanto en el pasado como en el presente, no fuera en vano.

Empero fuí por revelación, y comuniquéles el evangelio que predico entre los Gentiles; mas particularmente á los que parecían ser algo, por no correr en vano, ó haber corrido.

And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them which were of reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain.

I went up by revelation, and I laid before them the Good News which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately before those who were respected, for fear that I might be running, or had run, in vain.

Sin embargo, ni siquiera Tito, que estaba conmigo y era griego, fue obligado a circuncidarse.

Mas ni aun Tito, que estaba conmigo, siendo Griego, fué compelido á circuncidarse.

But neither Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised:

But not even Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised.

El problema surgió por unos falsos hermanos que se infiltraron entre nosotros para espiar la libertad que tenemos en Cristo Jesús, con el fin de volvernos esclavos de la ley.

Y eso por causa de los falsos hermanos, que se entraban secretamente para espiar nuestra libertad que tenemos en Cristo Jesús, para ponernos en servidumbre;

And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:

This was because of the false brothers secretly brought in, who stole in to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage,

Pero ni por un momento cedimos a sus presiones, para que la verdad del evangelio permaneciera con ustedes.

A los cuales ni aun por una hora cedimos sujetándonos, para que la verdad del evangelio permaneciese con vosotros.

To whom we gave place by subjection, no, not for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.

to whom we gave no place in the way of subjection, not for an hour, that the truth of the Good News might continue with you.

En cuanto a los que eran reconocidos como líderes importantes, a mí no me importa lo que hayan sido, porque Dios no muestra favoritismo. Esos líderes no le añadieron nada nuevo a mi mensaje.

Empero de aquellos que parecían ser algo (cuáles hayan sido algún tiempo, no tengo que ver; Dios no acepta apariencia de hombre), á mí ciertamente los que parecían ser algo, nada me dieron.

But of these who seemed to be somewhat, (whatsoever they were, it maketh no matter to me: God accepteth no man’s person:) for they who seemed to be somewhat in conference added nothing to me:

But from those who were reputed to be important—whatever they were, it makes no difference to me; God doesn’t show partiality to man—they, I say, who were respected imparted nothing to me,

Al contrario, se dieron cuenta de que Dios me había confiado la tarea de predicar el evangelio a los no judíos, así como le había confiado a Pedro la predicación a los judíos.

Antes por el contrario, como vieron que el evangelio de la incircuncisión me era encargado, como á Pedro el de la circuncisión,

But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter;

but to the contrary, when they saw that I had been entrusted with the Good News for the uncircumcised, even as Peter with the Good News for the circumcised—

Pues el mismo Dios que actuó por medio de Pedro como apóstol para los judíos, también actuó por medio de mí para los no judíos.

(Porque el que hizo por Pedro para el apostolado de la circuncisión, hizo también por mí para con los Gentiles;)

(For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:)

for he who worked through Peter in the apostleship with the circumcised also worked through me with the Gentiles—

Al reconocer la gracia que yo había recibido, Santiago, Pedro y Juan, que eran considerados las columnas de la iglesia, nos dieron la mano a mí y a Bernabé en señal de compañerismo, para que nosotros fuéramos a los no judíos, y ellos a los judíos.

Y como vieron la gracia que me era dada, Jacobo y Cefas y Juan, que parecían ser las columnas, nos dieron las diestras de compañía á mí y á Bernabé, para que nosotros fuésemos á los Gentiles, y ellos á la circuncisión.

And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.

and when they perceived the grace that was given to me, James and Cephas and John, those who were reputed to be pillars, gave to Barnabas and me the right hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcision.

Lo único que nos pidieron fue que nos acordáramos de los pobres, algo que yo mismo siempre he procurado hacer con mucho esmero.

Solamente nos pidieron que nos acordásemos de los pobres; lo mismo que fuí también solícito en hacer.

Only they would that we should remember the poor; the same which I also was forward to do.

They only asked us to remember the poor—which very thing I was also zealous to do.

Pero cuando Pedro fue a Antioquía, lo enfrenté cara a cara, porque su comportamiento era reprensible.

Empero viniendo Pedro á Antioquía, le resistí en la cara, porque era de condenar.

But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed.

But when Peter came to Antioch, I resisted him to his face, because he stood condemned.

Antes de que llegaran algunos enviados por Santiago, él comía con los no judíos. Pero cuando ellos llegaron, comenzó a alejarse y a separarse de los creyentes no judíos, por miedo a los que defendían la circuncisión.

Porque antes que viniesen unos de parte de Jacobo, comía con los Gentiles; mas después que vinieron, se retraía y apartaba, teniendo miedo de los que eran de la circuncisión.

For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision.

For before some people came from James, he ate with the Gentiles. But when they came, he drew back and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision.

Los demás judíos se unieron a esta hipocresía, de tal manera que hasta Bernabé se dejó arrastrar por ellos.

Y á su disimulación consentían también los otros Judíos; de tal manera que aun Bernabé fué también llevado de ellos en su simulación.

And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation.

And the rest of the Jews joined him in his hypocrisy, so that even Barnabas was carried away with their hypocrisy.

Pero al ver que no estaban actuando de acuerdo con la verdad del evangelio, le dije a Pedro delante de todos: “Si tú, que eres judío, vives como los que no lo son y no según las costumbres judías, ¿por qué quieres obligar a los no judíos a portarse como judíos?”

Mas cuando vi que no andaban derechamente conforme á la verdad del evangelio, dije á Pedro delante de todos: Si tú, siendo Judío, vives como los Gentiles y no como Judío, ¿por qué constriñes á los Gentiles á judaizar?

But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?

But when I saw that they didn’t walk uprightly according to the truth of the Good News, I said to Peter before them all, “If you, being a Jew, live as the Gentiles do, and not as the Jews do, why do you compel the Gentiles to live as the Jews do?

Nosotros somos judíos de nacimiento y no “pecadores paganos”,

Nosotros Judíos naturales, y no pecadores de los Gentiles,

We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles,

“We, being Jews by nature and not Gentile sinners,

pero sabemos que nadie es declarado justo ante Dios por obedecer la ley, sino por la fe en Jesucristo. Por eso también hemos creído en Cristo Jesús, para ser declarados justos por la fe en él y no por las obras de la ley, ya que nadie será justificado por cumplir la ley.

Sabiendo que el hombre no es justificado por las obras de la ley, sino por la fe de Jesucristo, nosotros también hemos creído en Jesucristo, para que fuésemos justificados por la fe de Cristo, y no por las obras de la ley; por cuanto por las obras de la ley ninguna carne será justificada.

Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

yet knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because no flesh will be justified by the works of the law.

Ahora bien, si al buscar ser justificados en Cristo descubrimos que nosotros también somos pecadores, ¿quiere decir eso que Cristo es promotor del pecado? ¡De ninguna manera!

Y si buscando nosotros ser justificados en Cristo, también nosotros somos hallados pecadores, ¿es por eso Cristo ministro de pecado? En ninguna manera.

But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid.

But if while we sought to be justified in Christ, we ourselves also were found sinners, is Christ a servant of sin? Certainly not!

Si yo vuelvo a construir lo que ya destruí, entonces sí demuestro que soy un transgresor.

Porque si las cosas que destruí, las mismas vuelvo á edificar, transgresor me hago.

For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.

For if I build up again those things which I destroyed, I prove myself a law-breaker.

Porque, por medio de la ley, yo morí a la ley a fin de vivir para Dios.

Porque yo por la ley soy muerto á la ley, para vivir á Dios.

For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.

For I through the law died to the law, that I might live to God.

He sido crucificado con Cristo, y ya no vivo yo, sino que Cristo vive en mí. Lo que ahora vivo en el cuerpo, lo vivo por la fe en el Hijo de Dios, quien me amó y dio su vida por mí.

Con Cristo estoy juntamente crucificado, y vivo, no ya yo, mas vive Cristo en mí: y lo que ahora vivo en la carne, lo vivo en la fe del Hijo de Dios, el cual me amó, y se entregó á sí mismo por mí.

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. That life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself up for me.

No rechazo la gracia de Dios. Porque si la justicia se pudiera alcanzar por medio de la ley, entonces Cristo habría muerto en vano.

No desecho la gracia de Dios: porque si por la ley fuese la justicia, entonces por demás murió Cristo.

I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

I don’t reject the grace of God. For if righteousness is through the law, then Christ died for nothing!”
