¡Oh gálatas, qué estúpidos son ustedes! ¿Quién los embrujó? ¡A ustedes les hemos presentado claramente el mensaje de la muerte de Jesucristo!
¡OH Gálatas insensatos! ¿quién os fascinó, para no obedecer á la verdad, ante cuyos ojos Jesucristo fué ya descrito como crucificado entre vosotros?
O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
Foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you not to obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was openly portrayed among you as crucified?
Sólo quiero que me contesten esto: ¿Recibieron ustedes al Espíritu Santo por guardar la ley? Claro que no; lo recibieron cuando creyeron en el mensaje.
Esto solo quiero saber de vosotros: ¿Recibisteis el Espíritu por las obras de la ley, ó por el oir de la fe?
This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
I just want to learn this from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by hearing of faith?
Entonces, ¿se han vuelto locos?, porque si comenzaron con el poder del Espíritu, ¿cómo se les ocurre ahora querer terminar por sus propios esfuerzos?
¿Tan necios sois? ¿habiendo comenzado por el Espíritu, ahora os perfeccionáis por la carne?
Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now completed in the flesh?
Después de haber sufrido tanto, ¿todo va a ser en vano? ¡Espero que no haya sido en vano!
¿Tantas cosas habéis padecido en vano? si empero en vano.
Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.
Did you suffer so many things in vain, if it is indeed in vain?
Díganme, ¿les otorga Dios el poder del Espíritu Santo y realiza maravillas entre ustedes porque tratan de obedecer la ley? ¿O lo hace porque creen en el mensaje?
Aquel, pues, que os daba el Espíritu, y obraba maravillas entre vosotros ¿hacíalo por las obras de la ley, ó por el oir de la fe?
He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
He therefore who supplies the Spirit to you and does miracles among you, does he do it by the works of the law, or by hearing of faith?
Dios aceptó a Abraham porque este creyó en Dios.
Como Abraham creyó á Dios, y le fué imputado á justicia.
Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
Even so, Abraham “believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness.”
Esto significa que los verdaderos hijos de Abraham son los que tienen plena fe en Dios.
Sabéis por tanto, que los que son de fe, los tales son hijos de Abraham.
Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.
Know therefore that those who are of faith are children of Abraham.
Además, las Escrituras preveían el tiempo en que Dios salvaría también a los gentiles por medio de la fe. Dios le declaró esto a Abraham cuando le dijo: «Por medio de ti bendeciré a todas las naciones».
Y viendo antes la Escritura que Dios por la fe había de justificar á los Gentiles, evangelizó antes á Abraham, diciendo: En ti serán benditas todas las naciones.
And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.

Los que confían en Dios, pues, reciben las mismas bendiciones que Abraham recibió como hombre creyente.
Luego los de la fe son benditos con el creyente Abraham.
So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
So then, those who are of faith are blessed with the faithful Abraham.
Los que se aferran a la ley para salvarse están bajo la maldición de Dios. Las Escrituras dicen claramente: «Malditos los que quebrantan cualquiera de las leyes que están escritas en el libro de la ley de Dios».
Porque todos los que son de las obras de la ley, están bajo de maldición. Porque escrito está: Maldito todo aquel que no permaneciere en todas las cosas que están escritas en el libro de la ley, para hacerlas.
For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

Salta a la vista, pues, que nadie podrá jamás ganar el favor de Dios por obedecer la ley, porque está escrito: «El que halla la vida, la halla sólo porque confía en Dios».
Mas por cuanto por la ley ninguno se justifica para con Dios, queda manifiesto: Que el justo por la fe vivirá.
But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
Now that no man is justified by the law before God is evident, for, “The righteous will live by faith.”
La ley, en cambio, no se basa en la fe, ya que dice que para «tener vida hay que obedecer las leyes de Dios».
La ley también no es de la fe; sino, El hombre que los hiciere, vivirá en ellos.
And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.

Cristo nos redimió de la maldición de la ley, tomando sobre sí mismo la maldición por amor a nosotros. Porque dicen las Escrituras que es «maldito el que es colgado en un madero».

Y así sucedió para que ahora Dios pueda dar también a los gentiles la misma bendición que prometió a Abraham; y para que nosotros podamos recibir la promesa del Espíritu Santo a través de esta fe.
Para que la bendición de Abraham fuese sobre los Gentiles en Cristo Jesús; para que por la fe recibamos la promesa del Espíritu.

Hermanos, les pondré un ejemplo. Cualquier contrato humano si es por escrito y está firmado, tiene que ser cumplido. Nadie puede anularlo ni añadirle nada una vez que se ha firmado.
Hermanos, hablo como hombre: Aunque un pacto sea de hombre, con todo, siendo confirmado, nadie lo cancela, ó le añade.
Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man’s covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.
Brothers, speaking of human terms, though it is only a man’s covenant, yet when it has been confirmed, no one makes it void or adds to it.
De la misma manera, Dios les hizo promesas a Abraham y a su descendencia. Noten ustedes que no dice que las promesas eran para los descendientes de Abraham, como si fueran muchos; sino que dice «para su descendencia»; pues bien, esa descendencia es Cristo.
A Abraham fueron hechas las promesas, y á su simiente. No dice: Y á las simientes, como de muchos; sino como de uno: Y á tu simiente, la cual es Cristo.
Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.
Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his offspring. He doesn’t say, “To descendants”, as of many, but as of one, “To your offspring”, which is Christ.
Lo que quiero decir es lo siguiente: Dios hizo un pacto con Abraham, y ese pacto no fue cancelado ni la promesa quedó anulada por la ley que vino cuatrocientos treinta años más tarde.
Esto pues digo: Que el contrato confirmado de Dios para con Cristo, la ley que fué hecha cuatrocientos treinta años después, no lo abroga, para invalidar la promesa.
And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.
Now I say this: A covenant confirmed beforehand by God in Christ, the law, which came four hundred thirty years after, does not annul, so as to make the promise of no effect.
Si al obedecer esa ley recibiéramos la herencia, entonces ya no sería creyendo en la promesa de Dios. Sin embargo, Dios se la concedió a Abraham gratuitamente cuando Abraham confió en las promesas de Dios.
Porque si la herencia es por la ley, ya no es por la promesa: empero Dios por la promesa hizo la donación á Abraham.
For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.
For if the inheritance is of the law, it is no more of promise; but God has granted it to Abraham by promise.
Pero entonces, ¿para qué se nos dio la ley? Después que Dios le dio la promesa a Abraham, Dios añadió la ley a causa de nuestros pecados, pero sólo hasta que viniera la descendencia de Abraham, a la que se la había hecho la promesa. Además, Dios encomendó a los ángeles entregar la ley a Moisés, que fue el intermediario.
¿Pues de qué sirve la ley? Fué puesta por causa de las rebeliones, hasta que viniese la simiente á quien fué hecha la promesa, ordenada aquélla por los ángeles en la mano de un mediador.
Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
Then why is there the law? It was added because of transgressions, until the offspring should come to whom the promise has been made. It was ordained through angels by the hand of a mediator.
Pero no se necesita un mediador cuando se trata de una sola persona. Y Dios es uno solo.
Y el mediador no es de uno, pero Dios es uno.
Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.
Now a mediator is not between one, but God is one.
Luego entonces, ¿es la ley de Dios contraria a las promesas de Dios? ¡Por supuesto que no! Si pudiéramos salvarnos por la ley, Dios no nos habría proporcionado otro medio para escapar de la esclavitud del pecado, como dicen las Escrituras. La única manera de recibir la promesa de Dios es por fe en Jesucristo.
¿Luego la ley es contra las promesas de Dios? En ninguna manera: porque si la ley dada pudiera vivificar, la justicia fuera verdaderamente por la ley.
Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.
Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could make alive, most certainly righteousness would have been of the law.

Mas encerró la Escritura todo bajo pecado, para que la promesa fuese dada á los creyentes por la fe de Jesucristo.
But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
But the Scripture imprisoned all things under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.
Antes de la venida de esta fe, estábamos resguardados por la ley, mantenidos en custodia hasta que la fe se diera a conocer.
Empero antes que viniese la fe, estábamos guardados bajo la ley, encerrados para aquella fe que había de ser descubierta.
But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.

Así que la ley fue nuestra maestra que nos condujo a Cristo, para que fuésemos justificados por medio de la fe.

Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

Pero ya que ha llegado la fe, ya no necesitamos que la ley nos guíe.

Ahora todos ustedes son hijos de Dios por medio de la fe en Cristo Jesús.

Ya no importa si eres judío o griego, esclavo o libre, hombre o mujer. Todos ustedes son uno solo en Cristo Jesús.
No hay Judío, ni Griego; no hay siervo, ni libre; no hay varón, ni hembra: porque todos vosotros sois uno en Cristo Jesús.
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Y si ustedes son de Cristo, son la verdadera descendencia de Abraham y herederos de las promesas que Dios le hizo.
Y si vosotros sois de Cristo, ciertamente la simiente de Abraham sois, y conforme á la promesa los herederos.
And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
If you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring and heirs according to promise.
