1L’Eterno visitò Sara come avea detto; e l’Eterno fece a Sara come aveva annunziato.
2E Sara concepì e partorì un figliuolo ad Abrahamo, quand’egli era vecchio, al tempo che Dio gli avea fissato.
3E Abrahamo pose nome Isacco al figliuolo che gli era nato, che Sara gli avea partorito.
4E Abrahamo circoncise il suo figliuolo Isacco all’età di otto giorni, come Dio gli avea comandato.
5Or Abrahamo aveva cento anni, quando gli nacque il suo figliuolo Isacco.
6E Sara disse: “Iddio m’ha dato di che ridere; chiunque l’udrà riderà con me”.
7E aggiunse: “Chi avrebbe mai detto ad Abrahamo che Sara allatterebbe figliuoli? poiché io gli ho partorito un figliuolo nella sua vecchiaia”.
8Il bambino dunque crebbe e fu divezzato; e nei giorno che Isacco fu divezzato, Abrahamo fece un gran convito.
9E Sara vide che il figliuolo partorito ad Abrahamo da Agar, l’egiziana, rideva;
10allora ella disse ad Abrahamo: “Caccia via questa serva e il suo figliuolo; perché il figliuolo di questa serva non ha da essere erede col mio figliuolo, con Isacco”.
11E la cosa dispiacque fortemente ad Abrahamo, a motivo del suo figliuolo.
12Ma Dio disse ad Abrahamo: “Questo non ti dispiaccia, a motivo del fanciullo della tua serva; acconsenti a tutto quello che Sara ti dirà; poiché da Isacco uscirà la progenie che porterà il tuo nome.
13Ma anche del figliuolo di questa serva io farò una nazione, perché e tua progenie”.
14Abrahamo dunque si levò la mattina di buon’ora, prese del pane e un otre d’acqua, e lo diede ad Agar, mettendoglielo sulle spalle; le diede anche il fanciullo, e la mandò via. Ed essa partì e andò errando per il deserto di Beer-Sceba.
15E quando l’acqua dell’otre venne meno, essa lasciò cadere il fanciullo sotto un arboscello.
16E se ne andò, e si pose a sedere dirimpetto, a distanza d’un tiro d’arco; perché diceva: “Ch’io non vegga morire il fanciullo!” E sedendo così dirimpetto, alzò la voce e pianse.
17E Dio udì la voce del ragazzo; e l’angelo dì Dio chiamò Agar dal cielo, e le disse: “Che hai, Agar? non temere, poiché Iddio ha udito la voce del fanciullo là dov’è.
18Lèvati, prendi il ragazzo e tienlo per la mano; perché io farò di lui una grande nazione”.
19E Dio le aperse gli occhi, ed ella vide un pozzo d’acqua: e andò, empì d’acqua l’otre, e diè da bere al ragazzo.
20E Dio fu con lui; ed egli crebbe, abitò nel deserto, e fu tirator d’arco;
21dimorò nel deserto di Paran, e sua madre gli prese per moglie una donna del paese d’Egitto.
22Or avvenne in quel tempo che Abimelec, accompagnato da Picol, capo del suo esercito, parlò ad Abrahamo, dicendo: “Iddio è teco in tutto quello che fai;
23or dunque giurami qui, nel nome di Dio, che tu non ingannerai né me, né i miei figliuoli, né i miei nipoti; ma che userai verso di me e verso il paese dove hai dimorato come forestiero, la stessa benevolenza che io ho usata verso di te”.
24E Abrahamo rispose: “Lo giuro”.
25E Abrahamo fece delle rimostranze ad Abimelec per cagione di un pozzo d’acqua, di cui i servi di Abimelec s’erano impadroniti per forza.
26E Abimelec disse: “Io non so chi abbia fatto questo; tu stesso non me l’hai fatto sapere, e io non ne ho sentito parlare che oggi”.
27E Abrahamo prese pecore e buoi e li diede ad Abimelec; e i due fecero alleanza.
28Poi Abrahamo mise da parte sette agnelle del gregge.
29E Abimelec disse ad Abrahamo: “Che voglion dire queste sette agnelle che tu hai messe da parte?”
30Abrahamo rispose: “Tu accetterai dalla mia mano queste sette agnelle, affinché questo mi serva di testimonianza che io ho scavato questo pozzo”.
31Perciò egli chiamò quel luogo Beer-Sceba, perché ambedue vi avean fatto giuramento.
32Così fecero alleanza a Beer-Sceba. Poi Abimelec, con Picol, capo del suo esercito, si levò, e se ne tornarono nel paese dei Filistei.
33E Abrahamo piantò un tamarindo a Beer-Sceba, e invocò quivi il nome dell’Eterno, l’Iddio della eternità.
34E Abrahamo dimorò come forestiero molto tempo nel paese de’ Filistei.

1Y VISITÓ Jehová á Sara, como había dicho, é hizo Jehová con Sara como había hablado.
2Y concibió y parió Sara á Abraham un hijo en su vejez, en el tiempo que Dios le había dicho.
3Y llamó Abraham el nombre de su hijo que le nació, que le parió Sara, Isaac.
4Y circuncidó Abraham á su hijo Isaac de ocho días, como Dios le había mandado.
5Y era Abraham de cien años, cuando le nació Isaac su hijo.
6Entonces dijo Sara: Dios me ha hecho reir, y cualquiera que lo oyere, se reirá conmigo.
7Y añadió: ¿Quién dijera á Abraham que Sara había de dar de mamar á hijos? pues que le he parido un hijo á su vejez.
8Y creció el niño, y fué destetado; é hizo Abraham gran banquete el día que fué destetado Isaac.
9Y vió Sara al hijo de Agar la Egipcia, el cual había ésta parido á Abraham, que se burlaba.
10Por tanto dijo á Abraham: Echa á esta sierva y á su hijo; que el hijo de esta sierva no ha de heredar con mi hijo, con Isaac.
11Este dicho pareció grave en gran manera á Abraham á causa de su hijo.
12Entonces dijo Dios á Abraham: No te parezca grave á causa del muchacho y de tu sierva; en todo lo que te dijere Sara, oye su voz, porque en Isaac te será llamada descendencia.
13Y también al hijo de la sierva pondré en gente, porque es tu simiente.
14Entonces Abraham se levantó muy de mañana, y tomó pan, y un odre de agua, y diólo á Agar, poniéndolo sobre su hombro, y entrególe el muchacho, y despidióla. Y ella partió, y andaba errante por el desierto de Beer-seba.
15Y faltó el agua del odre, y echó al muchacho debajo de un árbol;
16Y fuése y sentóse enfrente, alejándose como un tiro de arco; porque decía: No veré cuando el muchacho morirá: y sentóse enfrente, y alzó su voz y lloró.
17Y oyó Dios la voz del muchacho; y el ángel de Dios llamó á Agar desde el cielo, y le dijo: ¿Qué tienes, Agar? No temas; porque Dios ha oído la voz del muchacho en donde está.
18Levántate, alza al muchacho, y ásele de tu mano, porque en gran gente lo tengo de poner.
19Entonces abrió Dios sus ojos, y vió una fuente de agua; y fué, y llenó el odre de agua, y dió de beber al muchacho.
20Y fué Dios con el muchacho; y creció, y habitó en el desierto, y fué tirador de arco.
21Y habitó en el desierto de Parán; y su madre le tomó mujer de la tierra de Egipto.
22Y aconteció en aquel mismo tiempo que habló Abimelech, y Phicol, príncipe de su ejército, á Abraham diciendo: Dios es contigo en todo cuanto haces:
23Ahora pues, júrame aquí por Dios, que no faltarás á mí, ni á mi hijo, ni á mi nieto; sino que conforme á la bondad que yo hice contigo, harás tú conmigo, y con la tierra donde has peregrinado.
24Y respondió Abraham: Yo juraré.
25Y Abraham reconvino á Abimelech á causa de un pozo de agua, que los siervos de Abimelech le habían quitado.
26Y respondió Abimelech: No sé quién haya hecho esto, ni tampoco tú me lo hiciste saber, ni yo lo he oído hasta hoy.
27Y tomó Abraham ovejas y vacas, y dió á Abimelech; é hicieron ambos alianza.
28Y puso Abraham siete corderas del rebaño aparte.
29Y dijo Abimelech á Abraham: ¿Qué significan esas siete corderas que has puesto aparte?
30Y él respondió: Que estas siete corderas tomarás de mi mano, para que me sean en testimonio de que yo cavé este pozo.
31Por esto llamó á aquel lugar Beer-seba; porque allí juraron ambos.
32Así hicieron alianza en Beer-seba: y levantóse Abimelech, y Phicol, príncipe de su ejército, y se volvieron á tierra de los Filisteos.
33Y plantó Abraham un bosque en Beer-seba, é invocó allí el nombre de Jehová Dios eterno.
34Y moró Abraham en tierra de los Filisteos muchos días.

1And the LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did unto Sarah as he had spoken.
2For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.
3And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac.
4And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac being eight days old, as God had commanded him.
5And Abraham was an hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto him.
6And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me.
7And she said, Who would have said unto Abraham, that Sarah should have given children suck? for I have born him a son in his old age.
8And the child grew, and was weaned: and Abraham made a great feast the same day that Isaac was weaned.
9And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, which she had born unto Abraham, mocking.
10Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son: for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac.
11And the thing was very grievous in Abraham’s sight because of his son.
12And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called.
13And also of the son of the bondwoman will I make a nation, because he is thy seed.
14And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away: and she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beer-sheba.
15And the water was spent in the bottle, and she cast the child under one of the shrubs.
16And she went, and sat her down over against him a good way off, as it were a bowshot: for she said, Let me not see the death of the child. And she sat over against him, and lift up her voice, and wept.
17And God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is.
18Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a great nation.
19And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink.
20And God was with the lad; and he grew, and dwelt in the wilderness, and became an archer.
21And he dwelt in the wilderness of Paran: and his mother took him a wife out of the land of Egypt.
22And it came to pass at that time, that Abimelech and Phichol the chief captain of his host spake unto Abraham, saying, God is with thee in all that thou doest:
23Now therefore swear unto me here by God that thou wilt not deal falsely with me, nor with my son, nor with my son’s son: but according to the kindness that I have done unto thee, thou shalt do unto me, and to the land wherein thou hast sojourned.
24And Abraham said, I will swear.
25And Abraham reproved Abimelech because of a well of water, which Abimelech’s servants had violently taken away.
26And Abimelech said, I wot not who hath done this thing: neither didst thou tell me, neither yet heard I of it, but to day.
27And Abraham took sheep and oxen, and gave them unto Abimelech; and both of them made a covenant.
28And Abraham set seven ewe lambs of the flock by themselves.
29And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What mean these seven ewe lambs which thou hast set by themselves?
30And he said, For these seven ewe lambs shalt thou take of my hand, that they may be a witness unto me, that I have digged this well.
31Wherefore he called that place Beer-sheba; because there they sware both of them.
32Thus they made a covenant at Beer-sheba: then Abimelech rose up, and Phichol the chief captain of his host, and they returned into the land of the Philistines.
33And Abraham planted a grove in Beer-sheba, and called there on the name of the LORD, the everlasting God.
34And Abraham sojourned in the Philistines’ land many days.

12God said to Abraham, “Don’t let it be grievous in your sight because of the boy, and because of your servant. In all that Sarah says to you, listen to her voice. For your offspring will be named through Isaac.
13I will also make a nation of the son of the servant, because he is your child.”
14Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread and a container of water, and gave it to Hagar, putting it on her shoulder; and gave her the child, and sent her away. She departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba.
15The water in the container was spent, and she put the child under one of the shrubs.
16She went and sat down opposite him, a good way off, about a bow shot away. For she said, “Don’t let me see the death of the child.” She sat opposite him, and lifted up her voice, and wept.
17God heard the voice of the boy. The angel of God called to Hagar out of the sky, and said to her, “What troubles you, Hagar? Don’t be afraid. For God has heard the voice of the boy where he is.
18Get up, lift up the boy, and hold him with your hand. For I will make him a great nation.”
19God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water. She went, filled the container with water, and gave the boy a drink.
20God was with the boy, and he grew. He lived in the wilderness, and as he grew up, he became an archer.
21He lived in the wilderness of Paran. His mother got a wife for him out of the land of Egypt.
22At that time, Abimelech and Phicol the captain of his army spoke to Abraham, saying, “God is with you in all that you do.
23Now, therefore, swear to me here by God that you will not deal falsely with me, nor with my son, nor with my son’s son. But according to the kindness that I have done to you, you shall do to me, and to the land in which you have lived as a foreigner.”
24Abraham said, “I will swear.”
25Abraham complained to Abimelech because of a water well, which Abimelech’s servants had violently taken away.
26Abimelech said, “I don’t know who has done this thing. You didn’t tell me, and I didn’t hear of it until today.”
27Abraham took sheep and cattle, and gave them to Abimelech. Those two made a covenant.
28Abraham set seven ewe lambs of the flock by themselves.
29Abimelech said to Abraham, “What do these seven ewe lambs, which you have set by themselves, mean?”
30He said, “You shall take these seven ewe lambs from my hand, that it may be a witness to me, that I have dug this well.”
31Therefore he called that place Beersheba, because they both swore an oath there.
32So they made a covenant at Beersheba. Abimelech rose up with Phicol, the captain of his army, and they returned into the land of the Philistines.
33Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba, and there he called on the name of the LORD, the Everlasting God.
34Abraham lived as a foreigner in the land of the Philistines many days.
