1Jacó levantou os olhos e olhou, e eis que Esaú vinha, e com ele quatrocentos homens. Ele dividiu as crianças entre Lia, Raquel e as duas servas.
2Ele colocou as servas e seus filhos à frente, Lia e seus filhos depois, e Raquel e José na retaguarda.
3Ele mesmo passou à frente deles e prostrou-se em terra sete vezes, até se aproximar de seu irmão.
4Esaú correu ao seu encontro, abraçou-o, lançou-se ao seu pescoço, beijou-o, e eles choraram.
5Ele levantou os olhos e viu as mulheres e as crianças; e disse: “Quem são estes que estão com você?” Ele disse: “Os filhos que Deus graciosamente deu ao seu servo.”
6Então as servas se aproximaram com seus filhos, e se curvaram.
7Lia e seus filhos também se aproximaram e se curvaram. Depois deles, José se aproximou com Raquel, e eles se curvaram.
8Esaú disse: “O que você pretende com todo esse grupo que encontrei?” Jacó disse: “Encontrar favor aos olhos do meu senhor.”
9Esaú disse: “Eu já tenho o bastante, meu irmão; fique com o que é seu.”
10Jacó disse: “Por favor, não. Se agora encontrei favor aos seus olhos, então receba o meu presente das minhas mãos, porque vi o seu rosto como quem vê o rosto de Deus, e você se agradou de mim.
11Por favor, aceite o presente que eu trouxe a você, porque Deus tem sido gracioso comigo, e porque eu tenho o suficiente.” Ele insistiu, e ele o aceitou.
12Esaú disse: “Vamos seguir nossa jornada, e vamos embora, e eu irei adiante de você.”
13Jacó lhe disse: “Meu senhor sabe que as crianças são frágeis, e que as ovelhas e o gado que estão comigo têm suas crias, e se os forçarem demais em um único dia, todos os rebanhos morrerão.
14Por favor, que o meu senhor passe adiante do seu servo, e eu seguirei devagar, no ritmo do gado que está diante de mim e no ritmo das crianças, até que eu chegue ao meu senhor em Seir.”
15Esaú disse: “Permita-me deixar com você algumas das pessoas que estão comigo.” Ele disse: “Por quê? Basta que eu encontre favor aos olhos do meu senhor.”
16Assim, Esaú retornou naquele dia pelo seu caminho para Seir.
17Jacó viajou para Sucote, construiu uma casa para si, e fez abrigos para o seu gado. Por isso o nome do lugar é chamado Sucote.
18Jacó chegou em paz à cidade de Siquém, que fica na terra de Canaã, quando veio de Padã-Arã; e acampou diante da cidade.
19Ele comprou a porção de terra onde havia armado sua tenda, das mãos dos filhos de Hamor, pai de Siquém, por cem peças de prata.
20Ele ergueu ali um altar, e o chamou de El-Elohe-Israel.

1Y ALZANDO Jacob sus ojos miró, y he aquí venía Esaú, y los cuatrocientos hombres con él: entonces repartió él los niños entre Lea y Rachêl y las dos siervas.
2Y puso las siervas y sus niños delante; luego á Lea y á sus niños; y á Rachêl y á José los postreros.
3Y él pasó delante de ellos, é inclinóse á tierra siete veces, hasta que llegó á su hermano.
4Y Esaú corrió á su encuentro, y abrazóle, y echóse sobre su cuello, y le besó; y lloraron.
5Y alzó sus ojos, y vió las mujeres y los niños, y dijo: ¿Qué te tocan éstos? Y él respondió: Son los niños que Dios ha dado á tu siervo.
6Y se llegaron las siervas, ellas y sus niños, é inclináronse.
7Y llegóse Lea con sus niños, é inclináronse: y después llegó José y Rachêl, y también se inclinaron.
8Y él dijo: ¿Qué te propones con todas estas cuadrillas que he encontrado? Y él respondió: El hallar gracia en los ojos de mi señor.
9Y dijo Esaú: Harto tengo yo, hermano mío: sea para ti lo que es tuyo.
10Y dijo Jacob: No, yo te ruego, si he hallado ahora gracia en tus ojos, toma mi presente de mi mano, pues que así he visto tu rostro, como si hubiera visto el rostro de Dios; y hazme placer.
11Toma, te ruego, mi dádiva que te es traída; porque Dios me ha hecho merced, y todo lo que hay aquí es mío. Y porfió con él, y tomóla.
12Y dijo: Anda, y vamos; y yo iré delante de ti.
13Y él le dijo: Mi señor sabe que los niños son tiernos, y que tengo ovejas y vacas paridas; y si las fatigan, en un día morirán todas las ovejas.
14Pase ahora mi señor delante de su siervo, y yo me iré poco á poco al paso de la hacienda que va delante de mí, y al paso de los niños, hasta que llegue á mi señor á Seir.
15Y Esaú dijo: Dejaré ahora contigo de la gente que viene conmigo. Y él dijo: ¿Para qué esto? halle yo gracia en los ojos de mi señor.
16Así se volvió Esaú aquel día por su camino á Seir.
17Y Jacob se partió á Succoth, y edificó allí casa para sí, é hizo cabañas para su ganado: por tanto llamó el nombre de aquel lugar Succoth.
18Y vino Jacob sano á la ciudad de Sichêm, que está en la tierra de Canaán, cuando venía de Padan-aram; y acampó delante de la ciudad.
19Y compró una parte del campo, donde tendió su tienda, de mano de los hijos de Hamor, padre de Sichêm, por cien piezas de moneda.
20Y erigió allí un altar, y llamóle: El Dios de Israel.

1And Jacob lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, Esau came, and with him four hundred men. And he divided the children unto Leah, and unto Rachel, and unto the two handmaids.
2And he put the handmaids and their children foremost, and Leah and her children after, and Rachel and Joseph hindermost.
3And he passed over before them, and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother.
4And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him: and they wept.
5And he lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the children; and said, Who are those with thee? And he said, The children which God hath graciously given thy servant.
6Then the handmaidens came near, they and their children, and they bowed themselves.
7And Leah also with her children came near, and bowed themselves: and after came Joseph near and Rachel, and they bowed themselves.
8And he said, What meanest thou by all this drove which I met? And he said, These are to find grace in the sight of my lord.
9And Esau said, I have enough, my brother; keep that thou hast unto thyself.
10And Jacob said, Nay, I pray thee, if now I have found grace in thy sight, then receive my present at my hand: for therefore I have seen thy face, as though I had seen the face of God, and thou wast pleased with me.
11Take, I pray thee, my blessing that is brought to thee; because God hath dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough. And he urged him, and he took it.
12And he said, Let us take our journey, and let us go, and I will go before thee.
13And he said unto him, My lord knoweth that the children are tender, and the flocks and herds with young are with me: and if men should overdrive them one day, all the flock will die.
14Let my lord, I pray thee, pass over before his servant: and I will lead on softly, according as the cattle that goeth before me and the children be able to endure, until I come unto my lord unto Seir.
15And Esau said, Let me now leave with thee some of the folk that are with me. And he said, What needeth it? let me find grace in the sight of my lord.
16So Esau returned that day on his way unto Seir.
17And Jacob journeyed to Succoth, and built him an house, and made booths for his cattle: therefore the name of the place is called Succoth.
18And Jacob came to Shalem, a city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, when he came from Padan-aram; and pitched his tent before the city.
19And he bought a parcel of a field, where he had spread his tent, at the hand of the children of Hamor, Shechem’s father, for an hundred pieces of money.
20And he erected there an altar, and called it El-elohe-Israel.

1Jacob lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, Esau was coming, and with him four hundred men. He divided the children between Leah, Rachel, and the two servants.
2He put the servants and their children in front, Leah and her children after, and Rachel and Joseph at the rear.
3He himself passed over in front of them, and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother.
4Esau ran to meet him, embraced him, fell on his neck, kissed him, and they wept.
5He lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the children; and said, “Who are these with you?” He said, “The children whom God has graciously given your servant.”
6Then the servants came near with their children, and they bowed themselves.
7Leah also and her children came near, and bowed themselves. After them, Joseph came near with Rachel, and they bowed themselves.
8Esau said, “What do you mean by all this company which I met?” Jacob said, “To find favor in the sight of my lord.”
9Esau said, “I have enough, my brother; let that which you have be yours.”
10Jacob said, “Please, no, if I have now found favor in your sight, then receive my present at my hand, because I have seen your face, as one sees the face of God, and you were pleased with me.
11Please take the gift that I brought to you, because God has dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough.” He urged him, and he took it.
12Esau said, “Let’s take our journey, and let’s go, and I will go before you.”
13Jacob said to him, “My lord knows that the children are tender, and that the flocks and herds with me have their young, and if they overdrive them one day, all the flocks will die.
14Please let my lord pass over before his servant, and I will lead on gently, according to the pace of the livestock that are before me and according to the pace of the children, until I come to my lord to Seir.”
15Esau said, “Let me now leave with you some of the people who are with me.” He said, “Why? Let me find favor in the sight of my lord.”
16So Esau returned that day on his way to Seir.
17Jacob traveled to Succoth, built himself a house, and made shelters for his livestock. Therefore the name of the place is called Succoth.
18Jacob came in peace to the city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, when he came from Paddan Aram; and encamped before the city.
19He bought the parcel of ground where he had spread his tent, at the hand of the children of Hamor, Shechem’s father, for one hundred pieces of money.
20He erected an altar there, and called it El Elohe Israel.
