And Dinah the daughter of Leah, which she bare unto Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land.

Al verla, Siquén, hijo de Jamor el heveo, que era el jefe de aquella región, la agarró, se acostó con ella y la deshonró.
Y vióla Sichêm, hijo de Hamor Heveo, príncipe de aquella tierra, y tomóla, y echóse con ella, y la deshonró.
And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and defiled her.
Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, the prince of the land, saw her. He took her, lay with her, and humbled her.
Pero se enamoró perdidamente de Dina, la hija de Jacob; amó a la joven y le habló con ternura.
Mas su alma se apegó á Dina la hija de Lea, y enamoróse de la moza, y habló al corazón de la joven.
And his soul clave unto Dinah the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the damsel, and spake kindly unto the damsel.
His soul joined to Dinah, the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the young lady, and spoke kindly to the young lady.
Entonces Siquén le dijo a su padre Jamor: “Consígueme a esta joven para que sea mi esposa”.
Y habló Sichêm á Hamor su padre, diciendo: Tómame por mujer esta moza.
And Shechem spake unto his father Hamor, saying, Get me this damsel to wife.
Shechem spoke to his father, Hamor, saying, “Get me this young lady as a wife.”
Jacob se enteró de que Siquén había deshonrado a su hija Dina. Pero como sus hijos estaban en el campo con el ganado, no dijo nada hasta que ellos regresaron.
Y oyó Jacob que había Sichêm amancillado á Dina su hija: y estando sus hijos con su ganado en el campo, calló Jacob hasta que ellos viniesen.
And Jacob heard that he had defiled Dinah his daughter: now his sons were with his cattle in the field: and Jacob held his peace until they were come.
Now Jacob heard that he had defiled Dinah, his daughter; and his sons were with his livestock in the field. Jacob held his peace until they came.
Mientras tanto, Jamor, el padre de Siquén, fue a hablar con Jacob.
Y dirigióse Hamor padre de Sichêm á Jacob, para hablar con él.
And Hamor the father of Shechem went out unto Jacob to commune with him.

Al enterarse de lo sucedido, los hijos de Jacob regresaron del campo. Estaban indignados y furiosos, porque Siquén había cometido una infamia en Israel al acostarse con la hija de Jacob, algo que jamás debía hacerse.
Y los hijos de Jacob vinieron del campo cuando lo supieron; y se entristecieron los varones, y se ensañaron mucho, porque hizo vileza en Israel echándose con la hija de Jacob, lo que no se debía haber hecho.
And the sons of Jacob came out of the field when they heard it: and the men were grieved, and they were very wroth, because he had wrought folly in Israel in lying with Jacob’s daughter; which thing ought not to be done.

Jamor habló con ellos y les dijo: “Mi hijo Siquén está perdidamente enamorado de la hija de ustedes. Por favor, dénsela por esposa.
Y Hamor habló con ellos, diciendo: El alma de mi hijo Sichêm se ha apegado á vuestra hija; ruégoos que se la deis por mujer.
And Hamor communed with them, saying, The soul of my son Shechem longeth for your daughter: I pray you give her him to wife.
Hamor talked with them, saying, “The soul of my son, Shechem, longs for your daughter. Please give her to him as a wife.
Emparentemos: dennos a sus hijas, y cásense ustedes con las nuestras.
Y emparentad con nosotros; dadnos vuestras hijas, y tomad vosotros las nuestras.
And make ye marriages with us, and give your daughters unto us, and take our daughters unto you.
Make marriages with us. Give your daughters to us, and take our daughters for yourselves.
Quédense a vivir con nosotros. La tierra está a su disposición; vivan y hagan negocios aquí, y adquieran propiedades”.
Y habitad con nosotros; porque la tierra estará delante de vosotros; morad y negociad en ella, y tomad en ella posesión.
And ye shall dwell with us: and the land shall be before you; dwell and trade ye therein, and get you possessions therein.

Siquén también les rogó al padre y a los hermanos de Dina: “Concédanme este favor, y yo les daré todo lo que me pidan.
Sichêm también dijo á su padre y á sus hermanos: Halle yo gracia en vuestros ojos, y daré lo que me dijereis.
And Shechem said unto her father and unto her brethren, Let me find grace in your eyes, and what ye shall say unto me I will give.
Shechem said to her father and to her brothers, “Let me find favor in your eyes, and whatever you will tell me I will give.
Fijen un precio alto por la dote y los regalos, y yo pagaré lo que me pidan; pero denme a la joven por esposa”.
Aumentad á cargo mío mucho dote y dones, que yo daré cuanto me dijereis, y dadme la moza por mujer.
Ask me never so much dowry and gift, and I will give according as ye shall say unto me: but give me the damsel to wife.
Ask me a great amount for a dowry, and I will give whatever you ask of me, but give me the young lady as a wife.”
Como Siquén había deshonrado a su hermana Dina, los hijos de Jacob les respondieron a Siquén y a su padre Jamor con engaños.
Y respondieron los hijos de Jacob á Sichêm y á Hamor su padre con engaño; y parlaron, por cuanto había amancillado á Dina su hermana.
And the sons of Jacob answered Shechem and Hamor his father deceitfully, and said, because he had defiled Dinah their sister:

Les dijeron: “No podemos hacer eso. Entregar a nuestra hermana a un hombre incircunciso sería una vergüenza para nosotros.
Y dijéronles: No podemos hacer esto de dar nuestra hermana á hombre que tiene prepucio; porque entre nosotros es abominación.
And they said unto them, We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one that is uncircumcised; for that were a reproach unto us:
and said to them, “We can’t do this thing, to give our sister to one who is uncircumcised; for that is a reproach to us.
Sólo aceptaremos con esta condición: que ustedes se hagan como nosotros y que todos sus varones sean circuncidados.
Mas con esta condición os haremos placer: si habéis de ser como nosotros, que se circuncide entre vosotros todo varón;
But in this will we consent unto you: If ye will be as we be, that every male of you be circumcised;
Only on this condition will we consent to you. If you will be as we are, that every male of you be circumcised,
Si lo hacen, les daremos a nuestras hijas y nos casaremos con las de ustedes. Nos quedaremos a vivir con ustedes y seremos un solo pueblo.
Entonces os daremos nuestras hijas, y tomaremos nosotros las vuestras; y habitaremos con vosotros, y seremos un pueblo.
Then will we give our daughters unto you, and we will take your daughters to us, and we will dwell with you, and we will become one people.

Pero si no aceptan y no se circuncidan, nos llevaremos a nuestra hermana y nos iremos”.

La propuesta les pareció bien a Jamor y a su hijo Siquén.
Y parecieron bien sus palabras á Hamor y á Sichêm, hijo de Hamor.
And their words pleased Hamor, and Shechem Hamor’s son.
Their words pleased Hamor and Shechem, Hamor’s son.
El joven no tardó en hacerlo, pues estaba muy enamorado de la hija de Jacob, y además era el hombre más respetado de toda su familia.
Y no dilató el mozo hacer aquello, porque la hija de Jacob le había agradado: y él era el más honrado de toda la casa de su padre.
And the young man deferred not to do the thing, because he had delight in Jacob’s daughter: and he was more honourable than all the house of his father.
The young man didn’t wait to do this thing, because he had delight in Jacob’s daughter, and he was honored above all the house of his father.
Así que Jamor y su hijo Siquén fueron a la puerta de su ciudad y hablaron con sus conciudadanos:
Entonces Hamor y Sichêm su hijo vinieron á la puerta de su ciudad, y hablaron á los varones de su ciudad, diciendo:
And Hamor and Shechem his son came unto the gate of their city, and communed with the men of their city, saying,
Hamor and Shechem, his son, came to the gate of their city, and talked with the men of their city, saying,
“Estos hombres son pacíficos. Dejemos que se queden a vivir y a hacer negocios en nuestra tierra, pues hay lugar de sobra para ellos. Podremos casarnos con sus hijas, y darles las nuestras.
Estos varones son pacíficos con nosotros, y habitarán en el país, y traficarán en él: pues he aquí la tierra es bastante ancha para ellos: nosotros tomaremos sus hijas por mujeres, y les daremos las nuestras.
These men are peaceable with us; therefore let them dwell in the land, and trade therein; for the land, behold, it is large enough for them; let us take their daughters to us for wives, and let us give them our daughters.
“These men are peaceful with us. Therefore let them live in the land and trade in it. For behold, the land is large enough for them. Let’s take their daughters to us for wives, and let’s give them our daughters.
Pero ellos aceptarán quedarse a vivir entre nosotros y ser un solo pueblo con una sola condición: que todos nuestros varones sean circuncidados, así como ellos lo están.
Mas con esta condición nos harán estos hombres el placer de habitar con nosotros, para que seamos un pueblo: si se circuncidare en nosotros todo varón, así como ellos son circuncidados.
Only herein will the men consent unto us for to dwell with us, to be one people, if every male among us be circumcised, as they are circumcised.
Only on this condition will the men consent to us to live with us, to become one people, if every male among us is circumcised, as they are circumcised.
¿Acaso no pasarán a ser nuestros todos sus rebaños, sus bienes y sus animales? Aceptemos su condición, y así se quedarán a vivir con nosotros”.
Sus ganados, y su hacienda y todas sus bestias, serán nuestras: solamente convengamos con ellos, y habitarán con nosotros.
Shall not their cattle and their substance and every beast of theirs be ours? only let us consent unto them, and they will dwell with us.
Won’t their livestock and their possessions and all their animals be ours? Only let’s give our consent to them, and they will dwell with us.”
Todos los hombres que salían por la puerta de la ciudad estuvieron de acuerdo con Jamor y con su hijo Siquén, y todos los varones de la ciudad fueron circuncidados.
Y obedecieron á Hamor y á Sichêm su hijo todos los que salían por la puerta de la ciudad, y circuncidaron á todo varón, á cuantos salían por la puerta de su ciudad.
And unto Hamor and unto Shechem his son hearkened all that went out of the gate of his city; and every male was circumcised, all that went out of the gate of his city.
All who went out of the gate of his city listened to Hamor, and to Shechem his son; and every male was circumcised, all who went out of the gate of his city.
Al tercer día, cuando más les dolía la herida, Simeón y Leví, que eran dos de los hijos de Jacob y hermanos de Dina, tomaron cada uno su espada, entraron a la ciudad sin que nadie lo sospechara y mataron a todos los varones.
Y sucedió que al tercer día, cuando sentían ellos el mayor dolor, los dos hijos de Jacob, Simeón y Leví, hermanos de Dina, tomaron cada uno su espada, y vinieron contra la ciudad animosamente, y mataron á todo varón.
And it came to pass on the third day, when they were sore, that two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah’s brethren, took each man his sword, and came upon the city boldly, and slew all the males.
On the third day, when they were sore, two of Jacob’s sons, Simeon and Levi, Dinah’s brothers, each took his sword, came upon the unsuspecting city, and killed all the males.
Mataron a filo de espada a Jamor y a su hijo Siquén, sacaron a Dina de la casa de Siquén, y se fueron.
Y á Hamor y á Sichêm su hijo los mataron á filo de espada: y tomaron á Dina de casa de Sichêm, y saliéronse.
And they slew Hamor and Shechem his son with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah out of Shechem’s house, and went out.

Luego los otros hijos de Jacob pasaron sobre los muertos y saquearon la ciudad, para vengarse por la deshonra de su hermana.
Y los hijos de Jacob vinieron á los muertos, y saquearon la ciudad; por cuanto habían amancillado á su hermana.
The sons of Jacob came upon the slain, and spoiled the city, because they had defiled their sister.
Jacob’s sons came on the dead, and plundered the city, because they had defiled their sister.
Se apoderaron de sus rebaños, sus vacas y sus burros, y de todo lo que había tanto en la ciudad como en el campo.
Tomaron sus ovejas y vacas y sus asnos, y lo que había en la ciudad y en el campo,
They took their sheep, and their oxen, and their asses, and that which was in the city, and that which was in the field,
They took their flocks, their herds, their donkeys, that which was in the city, that which was in the field,
Se llevaron todas sus riquezas y saquearon todo lo que había en las casas, llevándose prisioneros a los niños y a las mujeres.
Y toda su hacienda; se llevaron cautivos á todos sus niños y sus mujeres, y robaron todo lo que había en casa.
And all their wealth, and all their little ones, and their wives took they captive, and spoiled even all that was in the house.

Entonces Jacob les reclamó a Simeón y a Leví: “¡Ustedes me han metido en un grave problema! Me han hecho odioso ante los habitantes de esta tierra, ante los cananeos y los ferezeos. Nosotros somos pocos; si se unen contra mí y me atacan, seremos destruidos yo y toda mi familia”.
Entonces dijo Jacob á Simeón y á Leví: Habéisme turbado con hacerme abominable á los moradores de aquesta tierra, el Cananeo y el Pherezeo; y teniendo yo pocos hombres, juntarse han contra mí, y me herirán, y seré destruído yo y mi casa.
And Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, Ye have troubled me to make me to stink among the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites: and I being few in number, they shall gather themselves together against me, and slay me; and I shall be destroyed, I and my house.
Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, “You have troubled me, to make me odious to the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites. I am few in number. They will gather themselves together against me and strike me, and I will be destroyed, I and my house.”
Pero ellos respondieron: “¿Acaso íbamos a permitir que tratara a nuestra hermana como a una prostituta?”
Y ellos respondieron: ¿Había él de tratar á nuestra hermana como á una ramera?
And they said, Should he deal with our sister as with an harlot?
They said, “Should he deal with our sister as with a prostitute?”
